  1. Mission accomplished... btw #BanADV
  2. As much as I want to get another cup win, I don't want to ruin your chances by having a weak link. Especially at defense. I feel like you could double shift one of your better defenders. If you aren't worried about that I accept.
  3. Hi I hope it doesn't look like crap!
  4. State of the Nation: IRELAND As of 10/14/2019 State of the Nation is a series in which I look over active and free agent players in the VHL by their nation. By doing this, I hope to make it easier for those who don't want to go through each player, clicking dozens of times to go from one screen to the next when they can just read about them here. Plus, it gives me something to do while I sit at home and contemplate whether or not cats and dogs understand each other. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Over the past eight seasons, there have been eight Irish players to come onto the VHL scene. Some have seen no playing time in the VHLM, while others have solidified themselves as award-winning impact players in the VHL. Perhaps a couple will become Hall of Famers, but only time will tell. As explained above, I will now go on to tell you a bit about each player in order of newest to oldest based on their VHL draft year. As well as asking a question that they should answer in the next few seasons as they continue to develop their players, or not. Odin Omdahl | D | S70 | 43 TPE VHLM 0 GP | 0 G | 0 A | 0 P | +/- 0 zepheter Having just created his player, Omdahl is the newest Irish player in the VHL. Sitting at just 43 TPE, he has a long way to go to fill in the shoes of some of the current VHLers who are soon to retire after great careers. Will he be able to meet the expectations set by other Irish players in the VHL? Kevin Reegsman | D | S69 | 81 TPE VHLM 49 GP | 2 G | 2 A | 4 P | +7 Reegs Having played a little under one full season, Reegsman has plenty of time to grow into a respectable presence in the VHL. Expecting a good offseason, Reegsman should be in for a strong showing next season in the VHLM. After a compelling first couple of weeks, Reegsman seems to have slowed down. Will he be able to pick up the pace as Ohmdahl looks to overtake him in the near future? Owen Nolan | RW | S68 | 335 TPE VHL 63 GP | 8 G | 6 A | 10 P | -12 studentized At a pace of about 22 TPE per week, Nolan is on track to hit 400 TPE in about three weeks if he can keep up this tremendous growth rate. Despite the point total of the VHL rookie, he's projecting to be one of the most highly rated players from Ireland. While it's too early to make assumptions on what he could accomplish, there's not much to be desired when it comes to his commitment to get better. Will Nolan be able to keep up his terrific progression and become a star in the VHL? Colum ODowd | LW | S65 | 32 TPE VHLM 0 GP | 0 G | 0 A | 0 P | +/- 0 sour_chin_music Unfortunately, ODowd was never able to carve out a spot in the VHLM. After posting a single update in January of this year, he hasn't been active. Any chance of a comeback seems to be written off at this point. Denver Wolfe | RW | S65 | 679 TPE VHL 210 GP | 25 G | 95 A | 120 P | -14 VHL PO 35 GP | 7 G | 14 A | 21 P | -1 InstantRockstar After being drafted, Wolfe spent S65 in the VHLM, where he racked up 98 assists and 116 points to win the Vladimir Boomchenko Trophy as the player who led the VHLM in assists during the regular season. He also helped lead his team to win the Founder's Cup, earning first star in the cup clinching game. Since then, Wolfe has done all but prove that he isn't worth the 9th overall selection. After posting 36 and 37 points in his first two seasons in the VHL, Wolfe has taken a larger step and thus far has 47 points in 66 games. Just three seasons in, Wolfe is proving to be exactly what his team wanted when they drafted him. Where will he stand in the all-time rankings as an Irish forward? JB Rift | G | S64 | 732 TPE VHL 198 GP | 107 W | 64 L | 27 OTL | 0.915 SV% | 2.74 GAA VHL PO 6 GP | 1 W | 3 L | 1 OTL | 0.880 SV% | 3.90 GAA Devise Rift has maintained a high level of play ever since he stepped into the VHL. He started off in a big way by winning the Benoit Devereux Trophy in VHLM S64 as the top goalie in the VHLM. To no surprise, he has continued to keep his team in contention since his first VHL start in S65. Despite not having the greatest run in S66, Rift went on to have a monster season by establishing a record of 47-10-7 with a 0.927 SV%. He stacked up the trophies in the regular season by winning the Aidan Shaw(best VHL goalie), Dustin Funk(most improved), and Greg Clegane(lowest GAA- 2.3) trophies. Sadly, Toronto would go on to lose in five games to the Vancouver Wolves in the NA Conference Finals. This season appears to be in the books for Rift and the Toronto Legion, but will they be able to rise to the occasion with Rift having only three more seasons of eligibility? Konstantin Mulligan | D | S62 | 751 TPE VHL 500 GP | 71 G | 167 A | 238 P | +5 VHL PO 19 GP | 4 G | 10 A | 14 P | +5 Pandar While Mulligan appears to be on the decline, that does not discount what he has done throughout nearly seven full seasons in the VHL. Even though he may not get the most points, he is a wrecking ball at 6'8" 280 lbs. He has managed to register just over 1,375 hits up until now. With six more games left in this season, he could very well reach 1,400 hits and perhaps even 1,500 by the end of next season if he decides not to retire early. Mulligan is a classic case of a playoff performer. He has averaged about 0.48 points per game during the regular season, but averaged 0.7 in the playoffs as a defenseman. As a result of his performance, he made it to the S66 Continental Cup Final with Vancouver. They were bitterly swept by the dominant Helsinki Titans. In S67 he moved to HC Davos, who failed to make the playoffs, while Vancouver went on to win the Continental Cup. Mulligan is back with Vancouver, but their playoff chances are becoming ever so slim. Will Mulligan end his career a champion? Lando Baxter | D | S62 | 646 TPE VHL 426 GP | 63 G | 246 A | 309 P | -48 VHL PO 17 GP | 3 G | 8 A | 11 P | +2 Elhandon Baxter started off his minor league career in Ottawa, where he won the Founder's Cup in S62. Since then, he has served his teams well as a productive offensive defenseman over the past six seasons. Even though he isn't putting up stellar numbers, he will likely go down as the highest scoring Irish defenseman in recent history. It's sad to say, after a long career, he will likely retire having not won any trophies or championships. It doesn't look like Toronto will make the playoffs this season, and he only has one more opportunity to win if he chooses not to retire after this season. However, he is still serviceable and a contender could look to pick him up and help him finally win it all. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DISCLAIMER Due to the limitation of only being able to see players from S61 to present in the player list, I won't be able to search for most older players. While that is a bummer, it doesn't stop me from keeping you informed about the most recent VHL players. If you happen to have any information that I could use to better inform my audience, please don't hesitate to message me. Thanks for reading, and if you would like to see more of the "State of the Nation" series, just let me know! 1,346 words, using for 10/20 & 11/17
  5. 1. What are your plans for next season? Going up, or staying down? Just created a player. Excited to make an impact and hope to keep consistent activity this time around. 2. What are your goals for next season? How do you expect to perform? I plan to establish myself as a decent do-it-all defenseman. 3. Do you have any teams you like outside of your own? If so, why? My old player was on Philly, but I'd like to try out a new team and meet new people. 4. Would you rather win 3 cups in your career, or never win a cup but build a Hall of Fame player? Ideally I'd like to do both. I feel like they go hand-in-hand. Winning is important, but by building a Hall of Fame player, I'm being the best teammate I can be. 5. What's your favorite song that I don't know? While I listen to most genres of music, I don't have a favorite song. 6. Outside of hockey, sports, or sim leagues, what are your hobbies? How do you spend your free time? Doing schoolwork. I play college hockey so that sort of controls my way of life. I spend most of my free time watching YouTube, but most of the time it's just highlights from NHL games.

  7. Left-winger Dylan Doyle has announced today that he will be returning to the VHL. He struggled to find his game throughout his rookie season in the VHL, but after taking some time to develop his skills he has decided it is once again time to prove that he can compete for a roster spot. Doyle is a former 52nd overall pick in the S66 VHL Draft. He scored the Founder's Cup clinching goal in the S66 playoffs for the Philadelphia Reapers. He also recorded 41 goals and 85 points in S67 before making the jump to the VHL. I had the time to ask Doyle a few questions about his return and he responded with this: "My first season in the VHL didn't feel right. I spoke to some of my friends, family, and coaches before making the decision to step away for a season. Now I feel that I am ready to compete and potentially make a difference for my team, if anyone is willing to take a chance on me. I'd like to return back to Calgary, but I'll play for any team that wants me at this point. I understand that opportunities aren't given, they're earned."
  8. Dylan Doyle Forward Points: 85/10 = 8.5 +/-: 51/6 = 8.5 Total: 8.5 + 8.5 + 3 = 20
  9. Disappointed I wasn't picked by my home country of the USA, but I am thrilled to have been selected at all. We must make them pay for this...
  10. 2-What is your on ice personality (are you a leader, calm, feisty, the penalty baiter?) I like to keep to myself. More apologetic than rude. 3-Do you show up to every practice, and are you on time? I show up early to every practice. 4-Best friend on the team? I don't think I have a best friend. They're all so great and I am grateful to be a part of this team. 5-How do you think the season is going now that we are a few games in? Just as expected. We're gonna win it all. 6-How do you feel about being in 2nd place? We'll be first in good time. I believe in our team. 7-The Reapers are known for being a team that works hard until they accomplish their goals, do you think you fit that persona? I do. I don't really like to make excuses. If there's something I'm doing wrong, I do what I must to fix it. Regardless of the difficulty.
  11. My opinion is completely biased. Blade has made the greatest impact in keeping me on this site. When I was struggling to get online and was having a hard time doing the bare minimum, Blade didn’t just sit around and let it happen. Almost daily she would grab my attention in the chat to check on me to make sure I actually enjoyed my experience. She does this with all of the members in her VHLM organization. This is part of the reason why she has players begging to be not only a part of her team, but also active in her locker room. Not to mention multiple promising players have recreated just to stick around for another couple of months. Hell, I’ll probably recreate as well(sorry Calgary but my player got off to a very slow start and I want it to be worth while) because of her. On another note, people want to go to Philly because we’re winning. I thought in real life minor league GMs were rewarded positions in the big league when they win. If Philly wins back to back, you’d be silly not to select her. This is not meant to imply that other applicants aren’t suitable choices.
  12. C - Moe Grumpy D - Chig Bungus G - Kids Bop Pick any team you’d like.
  13. 1-What did you think of the VHLM Draft? Were there any surprises for you? I thought it went tremendously well for us, and I think some other teams found some good players through the draft. Although, I did notice a lot of poor picks midway through the draft. 2- Did you listen to the draft stream? What makes a draft interesting for you? Personally, I like the draft because it’s an important building block to each franchise. It gives fans of each team a chance to get to know their future stars and gives them incentive to watch their development closer than before. 3- S67 is about to start with a Loaded Reaper Roster how do you feel about this? We’re going to win. 4-Guy with the best name on our team and why. I like Flashback because it is kinda different and a name you will 100% remember after a season like the one we’re about to have. I think Bud Knight is funny though. 5-How are you settling in to life in Philadelphia? It’s great, other than the fact that I let Bud stay at my place and he’s completely trashed it. There’s always glass on the floor because he throws his empty bottles at the trash can. 8-What are your personal goals for the season? I’d like to at least double the 39 points I got last season on the third line. Triple would be great, but I don’t think it’s all that easy to score 117 points. 9- What VHLM team do you think will struggle at this point? Everybody but us.
  14. Red = pizza sauce. I will also post in the competition. I think it has a good chance to win.
  15. 7) If you could have created a player of any other position, which position would you have picked and why? Most likely defense. I don't have to worry about contributing points if I play defense. Plus, it's the second most important position in hockey. 8 ) Do you feel there are enough job opportunities on VHLForum? It would be nice for there to be more job openings, but the limited amount makes it pretty competitive, so I'm fine with that. 9) On a scale of 1-10 how important to you was having an active team Discord channel? It helped me get back online when I was losing interest, and it formed a great community within our locker room. 10) How does your player prefer to celebrate after a big win? Celebrate with my teammates, always. 11) If there was a real life brand or product your player would promote, what would it be? Probably a popular hockey brand like CCM since I normally use their gear. 12) What is your top ranked childhood cereal? Cap'N Crunch.
  16. Great team, great community. Couldn’t have asked to do it with a better group.
  17. Dylan Doyle Forward +/- Rating - 14/6 = 2.33 Points - 39/10 = 3.9 2.33 + 3.9 = 6.23 + 3 = 9
  18. 1. Did you think there would be more or less trades before the trade deadline on Wed. June the 5th? I thought there were a fair amount of trades on the deadline. As many as one should expect. 2. What do you think of the trades? I believe the trades made sense for each team. 3. Something nice you did for one of the New Guys: Anthony Hawk, Matt Tacco, Scotty Big Shotty, Condor Adrienne and Boone Jenton (if you are one of the guys we traded for tell me how the Reapers are doing at making you feel in your new home?) I didn't get to play with Jenton all that much, but I scored off of a pass from him so I guess that counts. 4. Anthony Hawk, Matt Tacco, Scotty BigShotty, Condor Adrienne and Boone Jenton were brought on to help us in our cup goals. Do you think this will help us keep up with the competition? Who do you see being our biggest asset? I envision that they will help us greatly down the stretch, and make the biggest impact with depth scoring in a long playoff series. I don't think I could say one will contribute more than the others. 5. The Minnesota and Philadelphia trades caused a lot of controversy, do you feel like that was warranted? I think they helped us get to where we are now, and hopefully add the finishing touch as we go into the playoffs. I'm not opposed to giving away a couple top picks to get more players that have the opportunity to grow after the draft. 6. Are you excited to know that the Reapers clinched a playoff spot? I'm thrilled. We are where we should've been all season long, on top of the league.
  19. Posting again because I didn't know you can't use a link more than once to update. 6. Who is the Philly GOAT (Greatest of all Time?) We’ll have to see how we fair in this postseason, as I haven’t done too much research into Reapers’ history. Someone is going to have to step up and deliver us a cup. There’s a chance it could be our GM as well. She’s done a brilliant job going from worst to building a powerhouse in this league. 7. Have you ever sent a text message to the wrong person? (what did you say? and who was it?) My brother got a new phone one time, and I also hadn’t saved my manager’s phone number. So, one day I get a rather unprofessional text thinking it was my brother. Unfortunately, I found out five minutes too late when she responded "why did you just call me an idiot?" 8. What is one thing you refuse to share? My Chick-fil-A. Get your own. 9. If you could make a rule for the Reapers and everyone had to follow it, what would it be? Eat Chick-fil-A before and after every game. 10.What movie completely changes its plot when you change one letter in its title? A Big Flea vs A Big Flee. 11. Using only images pick a teammate and describe how you feel about them. (Tag the teammate lol) An absolute beauty on ice. 12. What set of items could you buy that would make the cashier the most uncomfortable? Probably lingerie and say it's for me as I put it on over my clothes as I walk out.
