  1. I originally started in VHL a long time ago, don't remember exactly what season but it was the days of manual updates. I was much younger and I believe I only played for a few seasons before stopping. Eventually I found my way back in S66 with the creation of Greg Eagles (Goalie) and from that creation it has spawned the Eagles legacy. I am now on my 3rd player and have been having a great time. Today I will discuss about my first gen experience with Greg Eagles. Initial Registration: I re-found VHL through what I think was an email from the recruitment team, emailing out all old players. I remember taking a look at the link and checking it out. I wanted to see how the league has changed as I remember I was never a fan of the manual updates. To my surprise everything was now automated so I decided to take the plunge and sign up to see how things have changed. Since signing up I have really enjoyed being in the league, hence why I am on my 3rd player. I signed with San Diego as a FA in the VHLM. I believe InstantRockstar was the gm back then but I might be wrong. I remember having a great first gen experience, the locker room was great and was getting lots of help from the GM down to the players. After the first season, I went into my first ever draft. While I started as a max earner, not many people knew who I was and back then with the stigma of new gen players not going high overall (which does make sense sometimes as you don't want to waste a high pick on someone who you are not sure will earn or even stay active), I ended up being drafted 19th overall by Vancouver who was managed by Beaviss. He took a chance on me and looking back at Eagle's career, I think Beaviss had a huge draft steal at number 19. With my first gen player I hit 1366 TPE and had a pretty successful career. Award and Cup wins. 72 RIG Continental Cup 72 RIG Daisuke Kanou Trophy 70 VAN Greg Clegane Trophy 70 VAN Aidan Shaw Trophy 69 VAN Victory Cup 67 VAN Continental Cup Not bad for a 19th overall drafted first gen. Vancouver and Riga (gm'd by Hedge) was a great first re-introduction into the league and one of the reasons I continue to play. There was never any drama in the locker room and the gm's were upfront about what they wanted for the team. Since then I have been lucky with my other players in having great gm's in Ricer and Frank who care about their teams, players and always willing to help out with any build questions or league questions. To all other first gen's, stick it out for a full career with your player and see how it goes. Don't base the league on your first few games in the minors, base it on a full career. If you give it a chance you will see how fun this league is and how fun it is to see your player progress, see if you can win any cups/awards and if you can get your player into the HoF. I have one awards with my players and cups as well now I want to chase that HoF nomination. I don't know if I will ever reach it but I will definitely try. My 3rd player, Henry, will probably be my highest earning TPE player to date and while he is currently struggling in the points department, we do have a few more seasons to try and reach that HoF goal.
  2. Henry Eagles has set new personal bests in the VHL in Goals and points. His new highs as of today for goals is 16 compared to previous of 13, and 34 points compared to 31. Assists he is tied with the same amount at 18 assists. There is still quite a few games to go (26 games) and Henry is working to keep increasing those totals. "My goal for this season was 60+ points and that might be a stretch unless I start playing a PPG for the rest of the season, I want to reach my goal and at the same time help the team win" Henry said " I thought I would have had a better breakout season this year but at this point in the season im not where I want to be. It's my Sophomore season and for some reason im still struggling no matter the work I put in. I see rookies having more points then me and even Sophmores having way more so it seems like I have to improve on something. Henry's struggles seem to come with the Wolves recently being on a slump but Henry and the team look forward to getting back on track and making sure they can qualify for the playoffs.
  3. Henry Eagles has been playing significantly better this year and is approaching career high in points and assists. He currently sits at 30 points vs his 31 point career high in his rookie season and sits at 16 assists vs his 18 career high. He has already surpassed his career high in goals as he has 14 vs his 13 in his rookie season. He has reached those career highs in just 36 games this season and should be able to add a significant amount more. Henry is on track for the goal he set himself of achieving 60+ points in his sophomore season. He should have no problem reaching that goal unless he goes on an immense cold streak which we do not see happening. With the recent trade of team leader Nico Pearce, who will be missed for his leadership and point contribution to the team, it opens up the opportunity for Henry to show that he can take on the role of being one of the top players on the team. "It was a shock when Nico was moved, he was a highly valued member of the team and a great leader for our team" Henry said " but I guess in the end this group was not getting it done after we were given a chance with the same core and changes had to be made. I always support management as they have the best intentions for the team and while I will miss Pearce, it gives me an opportunity to step out of his shadow and show the team what I am capable of" The first few games after the trade, Henry has exploded in point production and recently hit a career high 4 points in one game vs Prague by scoring 2 goals and assisting on 2 others. This helped the Wolves win back to back games and gives them a start on a new win streak. The Wolves will need all the wins they can muster for the rest of the season as they find themselves 5th in the North American Conference. The Wolves will need Henry to continue his good form in order to make sure they are in the playoffs at the end of the season. Eagles is now only 5 points off from leading the team in scoring and while its not a big attribute for him, many fans and management want him to be that scoring leader on the team and the reason why he was chosen 1st overall "For me it has always been about the team, seeing the team win and having the best opportunity to win the cup " Henry continues " I don't look at points or stats or who is leading what, I think only the media really look into that. Sure the coaches might want to see me leading top 10 stats but my focus is to contribute the best that I can to help this team win. I don't care about awards, all I care about is winning the cup. That is my only goal in this league.
  4. After a horrible rookie season, Henry Eagles, has been off to a better start this season. While in 72 games last season he only scored 31 points, so far in 34 games, Eagles, is sitting at 26 points. This is a much improved start compared to last season and Henry has started to show flashes of why he was selected #1 overall. He may not be playing up to 100% of his potential yet, but there is still lots of time left in the season. " To me the most important thing is getting into the playoffs, I want to help my team get there and that is goal number 1" Henry said "Without getting into the playoffs it doesn't matter if myself or someone on the team gets 100+ points or how ever many points, it would all have been a waste if were not competing for the cup" As of this article the Wolves sit 5th in the North American conference as they have had a rough start to the season

  8. It has only been 2 games into the season so far and it seems like Henry Eagles is still the same player he was last season. Even after all the talk the Sophomore has been doing all off-season on how much he has trained in the off-season and how big of an improvement everyone will see....we still have not seen it. It may be just off-season rust and getting back into the game after just solo off-season training but we have not seen any improvements so far in the scoring department and to be honest not even an improvement in his end to end game. This looks like the same rookie from last season who looked lost out there playing against the big boys. In the first two games for the Wolves, Henry sits with 0 points and only 2 shots on net. This seems very unacceptable for a first overall pick heading into his sophomore season to only get two shots in two games. Henry was given first line minutes and first line powerplay minutes to start the season but he was unable to capitalize on the opportunity presented to him. It is yet to be seen if management will make a change in the next couple of games or if they will continue to give Henry opportunities in order to get the young player going. "What can I say, the bounces just didn't go my way and I was looking more for the pass then taking my own shooting opportunities, this is a team game and I want to make sure our team wins " Henry said " I promised an improvement and it will come, we are just two games into the season and you guys, the media, are already jumping all over my back. Give me a few games and then determine if there is improvement or not" During this run of games, every Wolves player managed to put a point on the board except for Eagles and new rookie William Futch. While Futch is given a pass as he is just getting used to the VHL style of play, there should be no excuse for Henry who has had a full season to get accustomed to how everyone plays in the league. " I have faith in my abilities and I think its unfair you guys are attacking me so early, i'm not the only one in the VHL that didn't put up points in the first 2 games, some of the best players in this league also wern't able to put up points. I mean it's only two games in " Henry continued "If I have 0 points after 10 games then maybe that becomes an issue but I am not worried about it right now and neither is the team. We are on track on where we want to be and will hope to continue being on track over the next few games" While Henry did struggle, the Wolves played pretty well. They start the season with one win and one overtime loss. This is a positive start for the Wolves and they will try to continue there positive start in the next upcomming games tonight. They will be playing the LA Stars back to back and will hope to take all 4 points.

  10. Review: I liked this article as I don't follow the VHLE much and its good to get a update on what teams in the E are doing. I like reading about what's going on in the backroom of Oslo as they try to repeat as champs. The breakdown of players was nice and also how you are learning the STHS system. I would definitely just add a picture to help the article stand out a little bit more. 8/10
  11. Review: Great read and something different. Love the idea of players using their own funds to help out the local youth in the community by letting them see a live VHL game as some of those kids may not be able to afford to see a game. I would add a picture to the article and maybe color to the interview portion of the article (Asking the question a different color from Molly's answers). Well done 8.5/10
  12. Henry Eagles is prepared and ready to go for his Sophomore season with the Wolves. In what was a disappointing season last year, Henry has promised a much better improvement from him and his team. He has worked significantly in the off-season to improve every aspect of his game. "It was a disappointing playoff loss for us last season and we want to make sure this doesn't happen again" Henry said " the whole team has put in a lot of effort in the off-season in working on our weak spots and also working on our team chemistry. You will see a much better and more cohesive team this season" Henry has previously promised that he will help the Wolves with 60+ points this season, we can't wait to see if this will become a reality or if this will be a false promise from a player who has shown lots of promise, but not yet capitalized on that skill. In order for him to achieve those goals Henry will have to chip in more offensively especially in the goal department.
  13. R: Hi everyone, we are on the cusp of the start to a new VHL season and we sit down with Henry Eagles to discuss his off-season and his thoughts on the upcomming season. Welcome Henry and glad to have you back for another interview HE: Glad to be back, always enjoy these interviews and will try to be back here every year! R: Glad to hear it, first lets start off with how your off-season is going, anything specific that you were working on? HE: It was a busy off-season for me, I didn't take any time off and kept working on my game. I needed work in a lot of areas and over this past off-season I have improved my skating and scoring abilities. I think in my rookie season I was a bit to slow compared to everyone else and I needed to work on that. I think this season you will see a whole different player, I have worked hard to ensure that I can contribute more R: We can't wait to see how this season works out for you after putting in all the time in training, now lets talk about the Wolves, it seems like the main core is back how do you feel about that? HE: I think its amazing that we managed to sign everyone back, this shows that the players all believe in our system and believe in each other. They all believe that with this core we can win the cup and the management has given us another opportunity to make a run at the cup. I think with how much better everyone got in the off-season, that we are once again contenders. It will be an entertaining season. R: That's always great to hear and i'm sure the fans will be excited. How are you liking it in Vancouver so far after your rookie season? HE: The city is great, lots of things to do. The fans are amazing and support the team through thick and thin and the management and players have all been great. I am really enjoying my time here and excited for what's happening with this organization. I can't wait to help bring the cup back to this city, the fans deserve it R: Do you have any goals for yourself this season? HE: I struggled a bit in the point department last season as I was adjusting to the VHL but my goal for this season is to aim for 60+ points. I think this is very doable and anything under this total I will consider as a bust season. I think I have put in enough effort in the off-season that things will finally start going my way this season. R: Our final question is did you follow or read any of the outside media saying you were a bust as a #1 overall pick or did you ignore all that noise? HE: I tend to ignore it, if you read those reports and start getting into it with the media then nothing good ever comes of it. I just tend to ignore the noise and continue working on my game. Yeah it wasn't the best start to my career but I was playing against guys that had way more experience. I was just happy with being given the chance to play in the big leagues in my rookie season. The points and goals will come and I still have lots of time to prove that I was the right pick R: Thanks Henry and we look forward to watching you and the Wolves this season! HE: Thank You and see you soon.
  14. Henry Eagles has announced that he will attend the VHL draft tonight to see where upcoming rookies will go and who his team will end up drafting. Last season, Eagles was one of the players to be drafted but this season he will be going as a spectator and has also made himself available to any rookies who have any questions. " I am going to support my team but also to offer any support to any of the upcoming rookies. It's a big night for them and with me going through this just last season, I thought I would offer any support the rookies need heading into the draft. If they have any questions they are more then welcome to come up to me and ask any questions" It's great to see sophomore players taking the time out of their busy days to support upcoming players and help ease them into the league after what will be an exciting draft night.
  15. You usually hear that rookies heading into their Sophomore season will experience the dreaded sophomore slump. This is usually brought up when a rookie cannot follow up his rookie season with the same type of numbers or same type of production. Majority of rookies will go through this but today we will focus on Henry Eagles and why we think that he will not suffer from this fate. His rookie season was a disappointment all around for himself and the league, the number one overall pick was supposed to play better especially after getting multiple votes for being predicted to being the rookie of the year and also playing on a cup favorite team. He finished the season with a measly 31 points, not even getting close to making a dent to be considered as rookie of the year last season. It is highly doubtful Henry will experience a sophomore slump due to his low point total. If he actually does have a slump next season then there might be more issues with his game then most people realize. If this happens you can bet the "bust" word will start to follow the young player around and cause even more pressure on the player. We are predicting though that he will have a rare sophomore rebound, his true potential will finally start to show in his second season and that could only mean great things for the Wolves organization, who are going to be making another run at the cup this upcoming season. By our count, Henry's only trajectory has to be up and we saw a few glimpses of this in the playoffs. He put up 5 points in 7 games and looked much better as a player then he has been all season. Top that off with having one full season under his belt to get used to the faster and stronger pace of the game as well as a full season and off-season training. He has been steadily working on improving his overall game, especially his scoring ability. In his rookie season he focused more on his defensive side in order to be a productive member of the Wolves team. While that did not produce high scoring numbers for the young player, it helped improve one of his weaknesses he had in junior hockey and that was defense. With now focusing on improving his offense, Henry, will be a well rounded player. With Henry coming along nicely in training and in his development, we are also predicting he will be given more responsibility on the team which can lead to more ice time. With more ice time, Henry will be able to produce more points for the team. While we are still very early in the off-season, we are thinking that Henry will be able to hit the 70+ point mark this season if his development continues on this path. While he did not win rookie of the year, many in the Wolves camp are betting that he can go on and win most improved player.
  16. The Management and senior players of the Wolves recently devised a clever plot to initiate all the rookies who played with the Wolves this season. The rookies thought they were going to hand out candy at a hospital when things suddenly turned weird and the rookies did not know what was going on. "It felt like I was in a horror movie, I was not sure what was going on" Henry said "But when the senior players and management ripped of their masks we all knew what was happening. We all started laughing when we knew but the first few moments I think we were all scared" While there are recent news reports of teams and players in other leagues doing horrible and cruel initiations for the rookies, the Wolves organization decided to do something fun that everyone involved enjoyed being a part of. All other leagues and teams should take note of proper initiations and come up with great ideas to make it enjoyable for everyone. The rookies, who will be sophomores next season, are now tasked with planning the next team rookie initiation for the next crop of players coming up. We can't wait to see what they will come up with.
  17. 1. What is your favorite Halloween ghost or ghoul story? Why? I don't think I have a favorite but I do like reading into some ghost stories. Even though I don't believe in ghosts, its interesting to get other peoples takes on what they think they saw and then experts trying to debunk it. 2. Do you believe real monster, witches and creatures are living amongst us in the real world? No I do not believe in monster's and witches although there are great stories and folklore about them! 3. If you could use a magic spell on somebody; who would use the magic on and what spell would you use? Why? I wouldn't use this spell on anybody but myself and that spell would be to fly. I think that would be fun and a great way to get around! 4. Is your jack-o-lantern still out? We never made one this year as son is still too young and we didn't have enough time to carve. Next year when he is older though we will definitely get back into carving pumpkins 5. Do you think Halloween is appropriate to celebrate today? I think after all the lockdowns and other things going on in the world its nice for the kids to get out, have some fun and collect some candy. It's a great social activity for them. 6. Riddle: The person that built it, sold it. The person that bought it, never used it. The person that used it, never saw it. What is it? hmmm, I feel like this has something to do with death. Could this possible by a grave slot? But a grave slot doesn't get built...I will go I guess with a Urn (for ashses) or a coffin?
  18. It was supposed to be the rebound story of the VHL, from last to cup winners in just one season, but the story never materialized. The story came to a crashing halt in game 7 as the Wolves lost 4-2 to the DC Dragons and were eliminated from post-season contention. The game started out strong for the Wolves early on in the first period as Pierre Emile Bouchard scored his 3rd of the season just 2 minutes and 21 seconds into the game. His goal was assisted by Nico Pearce and Biggie Cheese. The fans went wild and everyone was happy with the quick start to the game. The players knew this is the start they needed if they were going to win this game. All of a sudden, things went from great to bad as Nezuko scored 2 quick goals. First goal 8:09 into the game and then another quick one 2 minutes later to give the Dragons a 2-1 lead. The mood in the arena quickly changed from the loudness of the fans to the silence where you could hear a pin drop. The Wolves quick start quickly turned into being a goal down. The period ended and the Wolves players quickly went to the locker room. "After that 1st period, we just talked as a team in the locker room. We knew what we had to do and we knew we had lots of time left to make it right" Henry Eagles said " 2-1 was not that bad of a score, we had 2 periods to make it right. We were pumped up and went into the 2nd period with a fire under our ass" The second period came and went and while there was lots of action, including a fight and game misconduct, the goalies for both teams kept the puck out of the net. No team was able to score in the second period and now the Wolves were just 20 minutes away from elimination. " The locker room after the 2nd period was a whole different mood then after the 1st, the fire was gone and now it seemed like desperation was in the air" Henry continued " We were 20 minutes away from getting eliminated and we were no closer to taking a lead in this game" The 3rd period started and disaster struck for the Wolves as Ronan Lavelle scored a goal just 1 minute and 16 seconds into the 3rd period. This goal really deflated the Wolves and you could see the energy drop. While morale was low, the Wolves still managed to make a fight out of it. 11 minutes into the period, Svatopluk Puk scored a goal on the powerplay to once again put the Wolves within one goal. Unfortunately that would be as close as the Wolves would get. Even though they tried their best they were unable to score another goal. In the dying minutes, Corey Kitson of the Dragons scored an empty net goal which put the final nails in the coffin for the Wolves. "It was disappointing, I don't think anyone said a word in that locker room for the next 10 minutes after the game, it was just so silent. " Henry said " Eventually our GM gave us a rousing speech which seemed to lift the spirit of our guys and we all knew that we didn't want to have this feeling again. We knew we will bounce back better then ever next season"
  19. It was a disappointing day for Henry today as the Vancouver Wolves held their annual locker cleanout day. This day came a bit earlier then many Wolves expected as the team were favorites to make a run for the cup. Unfortunately Vancouver was eliminated in the first round by a touch DC Team. "It was a tough loss but the series could have gone either way, it was all close to the very end" Henry said " For me though, I will continue to train and try to get better for next season, I do not take any off-days. I hope that our core pieces can stay together for another run as I believe this team has what it takes to win" Henry will travel from Vancouver to Poland to train at the Eagles dynasty's private arena. Henry has promised to work on many aspects of his game and come back stronger then ever for next season. During the playoff run, Henry showed some glimpses of what he will be able to do next season as he put up 5 points in the playoffs. If Henry carries over this form to next season, you can expect his points total to significantly rise compared to his rookie season.
