After leading all rookies in scoring through 90% of the season, Jody 3 Moons had a rough final stretch of games which saw him relinquish the rookie scoring lead to his former VHLM teammate Sachimo Zoidberg. The pair finished 6th and 7th in overall VHL scoring but Zoidberg's 3 point outburst in the final game of the regular season saw him move 1 point ahead of 3 Moons to claim the rookie scoring title to become the odds-on favourite to win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy for top VHL rookie.
It's been reported that 3 Moons was not at all happy about losing out to Zoidberg, who also usurped 3 Moons for the VHLM scoring title last season after 3 Moons missed out on some games due to a league administration error. 3 Moons was asked about it after NYA's final regular season game and had some choice words for his former teammate, who's Toronto Legion ended up missing the VHL playoffs this season;
"Yeah, yeah. Everybody knows how great Sachimo is and how he's the best player of his generation. How he's the future of the VHL. How he can do no wrong. Well if he's so great, he's obviously going to beat me for playoff points too, right? He's going to be lifting that Continental Cup over his head in a few weeks, right? Yeah. No more questions."
Despite this outburst, popular VHL opinion has the Stolzschweiger trophy going to Zoidberg. However, 3 Moons and his New York Americans are touted as the odds-on favourite to bring home hockey's most glorious prize, the Continental Cup.
