  1. Review: I love this lol. At first, I didn't care too much for the color choices, but realized it's for the comedic value. I hope this was for a comedic sort of thing? I think what's missing here...is a catchy catchphrase. "Bud Knight..once you pop.." Oh, that won't work. Good job!
  2. Review: I like this. Simple, to the point, it's a player card. You know what you need to do now? Make a backside for the card, all the stats, the bio info. Only thing I would maybe make an alteration to here is the slant the VHL logo is on. I think just having it at a normal angle would be more appealing, but that's just nit picking; it does look great the way it is. Good job!
  3. Review: I like that the font ties into the logo of Mexico City; it pops nicely. The cartoon colored, painted out crowd looks really cool. I can't really find anything I don't like about this, maybe fade out the crowd a bit? All around great job!
  4. Review: For being your first graphic, it's actually pretty darn good. I don't know much about making graphics, as the world will see once I start taking a crack at it! I like the colors in this, I think making the font a different color, and maybe changing the font to the same font as the VHL logo would take it up a notch; however, I do actually like the font the way it is, curious to see how it'd look in a different style like I mentioned. Great job!
  5. Review: I'm right there with you in not being a graphics guy; however, I like this a helluva lot. I think maybe making the font pop more would make it that much better. Maybe making it a different color? Even a few shades darker or even brighter so it stands out. All in all, a really great graphic!
  6. Review: For doing this on your phone, I have to say very impressive! However, it shows as the outline around the player is very obvious. I am not sure if there is a blending tool in the program you use, I'd try that to make the edges appear more smooth, blending it in with the background. Extremely impressive though nonetheless.
  7. The lights around the rink begin to flicker for a few seconds before humming into life, illuminating the cold surface below. The few seats that surround the rink are empty, as you'd expect for this time of morning; a few minutes before 6 AM. Only one person takes to the ice, taking a few laps around the entire ice before heading back toward the player benches. This has been part of Micha Sage's morning workout routine for a few years, and with the draft nearing, he has stepped up his focus. Every morning Micha takes to the ice at his local ice rink shortly before six, where he spends the next few hours conditioning and honing in on his skills. "It has just become habit," he states. "I feel off or have a bad feeling if I don't start my day this way. Even on days where I am a bit under the weather, I try to get down here and get a few reps in, whatever I can. I guess you can say I'm a bit obsessive." From speed drills to puck handling courses, Micha starts his workout routine at a relentless pace, and pushes his limits for hours at a time. The reason? According to Micha, he wants to constantly perfect his game. He's never satisfied and always feels there will always be room to improve. "You can have the best game of your life, but can you look yourself in the mirror and really say you gave all you could give?" he asked us. After about thirty minutes of skating through obstacles with the puck, he moved on to shooting. Shooting on an open net seems to be an easy feat even the most amateur of player could achieve, but Micha used his imagination as he created different scenarios to run through. Empty net shots, one-on-one chances, and penalty shots were just some of the scenarios we were treated to. When he was done with shooting, it was back to speed drills yet again, only this time he added weights to his legs. After what appeared to be every fifth or so run through the course, he add more weight, and do the whole thing over again. So how does one end an intense workout session? "Three egss, scrambled; Two pieces of wheat toast, and a tall glass of whey protein shake," Micha tells us. Which, to our surprise, is how he has ended his workouts for the past four years straight. Not a day missed, not an alteration to be had. The same breakfast. For four years. Yeah, you could say he's obsessive. Word Count: 437 words
  8. Name: Micha Sage Position: Left Wing Power Forward Height: 6' 2" Weight: 195 lbs Hometown: Welland, Ontario Handedness: Right Micha Sage is a right-handed, Left Wing Power Forward from Welland, Ontario who looks to possibly be a prospect some teams might not give a fair look into. Standing at 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing in at 195 lbs, he brings a high Hockey IQ and adaptive play-style to the table. Whatever system and program he lands in, you can expect him to make an impact sometime during his career. At his young age, there is some room for improvement which we will delve into more further on in the profile; However, what he lacks in some of the aspects of his game he more than makes up for with his strengths. Let us dive right in, shall we? What He Brings (Pros): Scoring - In his Senior High School career, Sage posted outstanding numbers in both goals and assists, with the former being his hallmark. He has unique ways of creating plays to open himself up on the ice that can lead him into open scoring chances. During his school career, he won the championship only once, but was a highly coveted MVP two years in a row. Hockey IQ - This kid knows where the puck is at all times, and seems to position himself on both offense and defense extremely well. He can break up plays going into the defensive zone, set up beautiful board passes, and seems to have a good handle on his stick play. Takes Smart Shots - You won't see him take too many shots that aren't from high percentage areas of the ice, and if he isn't finding a shot to his favor he will quickly move the puck around, or feed it to another teammate. Where He's Lacking (Cons): Can't Keep It Simple - His biggest drawback, which might be attributed to his age, is that he can often times turn the simple plays into a complicated, chaotic mess. Whether he holds the puck too long to find an open man, tries to take a fancy deke around instead of a simple deke, or just passes it into the opposing team, he can often times be clumsy in his decision making. Not That Strong - For his size he is rather weak, and battles along the boards aren't his forte. Don't look for him to engage much on the physical side of a play, as his hesitation to commit to the boards will most likely end up with him turning the puck over. Isn't Comfortable At Right Wing - If you are thinking about putting him on the Right side for plays, don't. It won't end well, as he seems to be out of place and just doesn't get a steady tempo going. You're better off keeping him at Left Wing, and allowing him to work from there. The few games we caught of him playing Right Wing, he had a handful of turnovers, and a silly stick infraction that was an error entirely on his part.
  9. I can not only confirm, but can without a doubt, back this claim.
