  1. Review: Digging the effect in the background on this. I love how the colors tie into the overall picture, my only gripe is the choice for the second font at the bottom. While I see what you were trying to go, I think a different font would have complimented it a whole lot better. Great job!
  2. Review: Amazing, pure and simple. Background ties in with the jersey, the colors play nicely with the font; all around a brilliant graphic. Keep it up!
  3. Review: I used to play with Picmonkey back in like 2013 for simple things I'd have to do for school. It has changed drastically since then, and not all for the better. I like this picture, I'd suggest maybe making it a bit smaller so it doesn't take up too much of the page? Also the font color in this just doesn't flow with the picture IMO. It's almost lost with how hard it is to read; but, minor issue really. Great attempt at your first graphic. If you get around to having a computer or anything, try using GIMP or PS and you'll be surprised with what you can do after watching one or two tutorials.
  4. Review: Simple graphic. Not much to hate about this, maybe the background clip art graphic, but that's assuming it is clip art. Either way, I dig the simplicity of this. Great job!
  5. Review: I like this a lot. I normally have issues with reading font due to effects, or the size, but I like the placement of it in this piece, and it ties into the picture. Love the coloring choice, as well. Great job all around!
  6. Review: Great job all around. I think my only gripe would be the font and how the shadows cast over some of the last name. I had to look a little bit closer to see the last name, but, I see the effect you were going for. I like that the picture is smaller, but maybe a size or two bigger and I think it'd cure the not being able to read the font well. Good job!
  7. Review: I like the overall concept of this, however I am not a big fan of the cartoon, washout type style. BUT, it works rather well. Maybe make the picture a bit smaller? Like how you included the VHL logo and the team logo; I wish I could get the hang of placing a logo on a jersey in GIMP and not have it look so out of place or like it was obviously cut and placed. Great job!
  8. Birth Micha Sage was born on June 15, 2000 in Welland, Ontario, Canada. Tarin, his mother, was in her second year of law school when she gave birth to Micha; Luc, his father, had already given five years of service to the local police department. He was two weeks early, and despite his low birth weight, doctors were persistent that Micha would grow into a healthy baby boy. He was four pounds, seven ounces; 19 inches long at birth. Early Childhood to Teen Years The Sage family continued to live in Welland during Micha's first few years, as his mother eventually returned back to school a few months after his birth. Micha was introduced to hockey early on in his life, and was able to skate before he could actually walk. Whenever he was able to, Luc would take Micha to Toronto where they would watch Maple Leaf games. Micha was introduced to many sports early on, as Luc wanted him to have a lot of knowledge of different sports to follow. Micha would find a fond love for hockey, but baseball and Formula 1 were close favorites. He'd spend his nights, often past his bedtime, pretending to be a F1 driver, racing through the streets of Monaco toward the checkered flag; other times, he'd play in the backyard, running toward the high wooden fence that surrounded their yard as if he were running to catch a ball hit deep into the outfield. At the age of five, Micha broke his jaw while skateboarding in their driveway, which also resulted in him losing two of his bottom teeth and chipping one of his two front teeth up top. The accident left him with a fear of being on a skateboard, and to make up for it he started to turn his attention to cars, and most importantly, hockey. His parents gave him the nickname of 'Whistler', the gap from the accident caused wind to produce a loud whistle sometimes when Micha spoke. At first, it bothered him to the point where he'd whisper to try and minimize the whistle sound, but soon enough, he wasn't ashamed and new eventually his teeth would fall out, and so, too, would the whistle. In August of 2006, the family relocated to Kingston in order for Tarin to pursue her law career a bit more seriously. She accepted an offer from a small firm that were looking to build their team, and Luc was more than willing to change the scenery as he was able to transfer to the Kingston Police Department. The move left Micha leaving his friends, which he wasn't on board with, but that quickly faded as the excitement of being in a new city, with new faces, and a new school soon took over. Micha excelled at most of the subjects in school, however, his ability to complicate even the smallest of tasks held him back at times. At school he met Tate Honday, who would eventually turn into Micha's best friend throughout their entire scholastic career. Micha and Tate were both the only child in their family, and their bond was described as 'brotherly' when asked how close they were growing up. During recess, the two would play the normal boy stuff: soldiers in battle, pirates at sea, and even pretending to be dogs in the streets of some made up city. Not long after becoming best friends, both Micha and Tate swore no matter where one of them went, the other would go. If Micha had to go to the doctor to be seen for anything, be it something small or major, Tate was right there; Likewise, if Tate had to go see his grandmother in London, Ontario, Micha was invited along and traveled with. The duo stayed together throughout school, and after graduating, the two chose different paths. Tate chose to attend college at Boston College, while Micha chose to stay closer to home and get a job to save up money for college. Entering Adult Life For the next year after graduation, Micha kept in touch with Tate while maintaining a full time job at a local call center. The work wasn't rewarding, and while the room for growth was there, it wasn't a career Micha could see himself doing for very long. When he was able to, he'd travel to the states to spend a weekend hanging out with Tate. Tate had landed a spot on the Boston College Hockey roster, and had made quite a name for himself. In the Fall of 2018, Micha decided he needed a new path for a job, and opted to take a huge pay cut and be a mechanic at Canadian Tire. Again, the job wasn't anything glamorous, but the pay was decent, and he was happy to actually be doing physical labor rather than sitting at a desk inputting data and assisting customers. He spent what time off he head managing his relationship with Tate, being supportive of his collegiate hockey career, while also taking time to hit the rink every now and then. Playing for a team in any organization, on any level, was the last thing on Micha's mind. Even though he wasn't actively playing, Micha spent a lot of time in the gym and committing to a workout routine that he was able to keep up with. It was an added bonus that his job had him lugging around tires and other car parts, adding that he worked out three times a week, his muscle was never in danger of going away. He entered a local charity race for cancer, in which he ran three miles to help raise money for a local hospital and to help cancer research. Finishing in the top ten of the event, he was able to pick which hospital he chose to help, and which cancer charity he could send the donation to. This ranked pretty high on his list of achievements in his life thus far. Micha didn't party much, and he rarely left his apartment except to go to work, workout, or attend events. He didn't have a girlfriend and wasn't really in the market for one. He was happy with being single, doing his own thing, and only having himself to really worry about. He did, however, spend a lot of time with his family when he could. He had friends who would invite him out for drinks after work, and Micha would generally decline. Relationship With His Parents Micha would visit his parents any chance he could, and it was often. He and his father would try to attend as many Maple Leaf games as they could, even landing some pretty good seats for a Blue Jays game. Whether they were attending sporting events, or just having dinner, Micha and his father were close. His mother was busy with her law firm, and though weekends were free from work, she often took work home and worked clear through until the new work week started. The rare off time she had, Micha would visit, ask about work, and then let her relax as she saw fit. She'd question him about finding a nice girl to settle down with, which Micha would meet with the changing of topic in hopes she'd catch the hint and leave it alone. Trying For The VHLM Early Summer of 2019, Micha started gaining interest of some local coaches for various colleges in the region. It wasn't something he had really given thought to, but he eventually went out and practiced with a team. The coach suggested he try to make it to a camp in a few weeks, telling Micha that there would be scouts from the VHL and VHLM in attendance, and it would be a good excuse to lace up his skates. Micha attended the camp with zero expectations of actually garnering any attention. While the VHL scouts didn't confront him, a few VHLM scouts came forward and told him to try and make himself available for the upcoming Despersial Draft. Micha was elated that he was getting attention from scouts. He put in more work, attending smaller camps and creating a workout routine to help improve his game, continuing on his path leading up to the upcoming draft.

  10. The Depersial Draft for the VHLM has passed, and we got a moment to sit down and talk with Ottawa Lynx Left Winger Micha Sage. We asked him the basic questions about how he was feeling, how he feels about being a member of the Lynx, and what his goals for the upcoming season are. Micha, thanks for chatting with us. I can imagine how you're feeling right now, but why don't you go ahead and tell us. Hey thanks for taking the time and talking with me. I am pretty excited to have been picked up the Ottawa Lynx! Finally, all the hard work I have put into games, camps, and training has paid off; but I know the workload is about to be ten times greater than what I've done to this point. Now that you're officially in the VHLM and a member of the Ottawa Lynx, what are your thoughts on the team, and what are your expectations? I am pretty stoked and excited to be a part of the team. I think we have a good team heading into the new season. I think our D-Line is going to be strong, Parkey is going to be huge for us in our zone. I am looking forward to practice, getting to know the team, and building some chemistry. Of course you want to win games, but I know it's almost impossible to win them all, so I want to go into each game and learn something about my game, where I can improve, what I need to change...things like that. We won't keep you much longer, Micha, so one last question before you head out. What are your goals for the upcoming season? Uh, probably getting minutes where I can. Like I said, I want to build some chemistry with the team, and that goes down to whatever line I land on. Take it one game at a time, worry about the tasks in front of me and not get too much fog and lose sight. Scoring my first goal in the VHLM will be nice, but, I think getting wins and helping the team get chances are more important. Thanks for the chat, Micha. Best of luck to you in your VHLM career, and best of luck to the Lynx.
  11. 2 ) With the VHL draft coming up, what do you have to say to the VHL scouts? (if you're already drafted: Is there anything you wish you did differently before your draft?) I wish I would have joined a bit sooner so I could have maximized a bit more on my TPE and had more going into the draft, but overall, I am satisfied. 3 ) What does your ideal Ottawa alternate jersey look like? I like when teams use colors that aren't their team colors, going outside the box a bit. So maybe a darker gray for the overall jersey, with some darker red accents, and maybe a baby blue around the numbers. I can draw this easier than I can explain it, so apologies. 5 ) What is your player usually doing during their day off? Practice, practice, and more Netflix. Hard working, never giving up on wanting to perfect his shot, but also maintaining a good relationship with the team. 6 ) Who do you model your player after? Hybrid between my two favorite players of all time: Peter Forsberg and Joe Sakic. 7 ) Did you accomplish your season goals? I got drafted, and I am ready to pump as much TPE into my player as possible; in short, I've accomplished a little, and still hungry. 9 ) With the season being over, were there any changes you wished you made to your build? I am happy with how my build is going thus far; granted, no games played so I can't see what needs to be changed or focused more on, but I have a general feeling that I will know one or two games in where I need to pump TPE into. Happy with how this has gone!
  12. I actually used something other than Paint and some image thing on the web this time round. All feedback is welcomed, and be gentle, this is my first attempt and spent around 2 hours on this thing.
  13. You had me at free. I'm in.
  14. Review: Amazing logo! This is insanely sick. Love the effects to it, the font is a little hard to read, but the actual font itself plays so well into the whole thing. Maybe make it a little bigger? That's a small detail that really doesn't take away anything from this. Seriously, this is amazing!
  15. Review: Love this because it's on an Avs jersey, which is my favorite team. All around, great graphic. If I am to make one minor, small, means absolutely nothing note, it would be maybe making something behind the font so it's easier to read? It could just be me, I suck at reading anything that isn't print, but, I think maybe a silver banner, like a paint brush stroke? If that makes any sense. Anyways, good job!
  16. Review: I like it; buuut as @Matt_O said, make it a lot bigger next time. Even when clicking the image it doesn't make it bigger, so the font is kind of lost. Overall, good effort and I feel if you just made it bigger, it would really make a simple piece that much better!
  17. Review: Amazing work, really like this. I think the only thing I could nit pick at, and it would be nit picking, is the font choice. I think trying to find the font from the logo, then using the first name in blue, then yellow for the last would really piece this well. Again, like I said, just small nit picking. Great job!
  18. Review: Amazing work! I really, really, REALLY like the font and the color effects of it. I almost want to say there's too much blue happening, with blue being my favorite color, but seriously, you can never have enough blue; so, conclusion, love the blue, love the font and the effects. Overall a solid graphic. Keep it up!
  19. Review: Straight and to the point! Love the simplicity of the banner, as banners don't really need to be anything over the top. I'd maybe make the blue have some sort of shine to it? I don't know, maybe a glitter like texture. Other than that, solid work. Grats, Titans!
  20. Review: Again. You've done it again. You managed to make even the quirky look awesome. Reapers logo is probably one of the better ones IMHO. Love the colors on this, like how the font sort of ties in with not only Bud Knight, but also the Reapers. Congrats on being 16th overall! I'd maybe make the VHL logo a bit smaller, but other than that, great job yet again BK!
  21. 1) Since it's not been too long since you've joined the league, what are thoughts on the league so far as a whole? I am extremely excited to be here. This place seems to have a lot of friendly people who are willing to help, be it with a graphic or the best possible build you wish to achieve. 2) Are there any areas in the league that you would like to see a change/improvement? I think I am a bit too new to make any suggestons and be taken seriously; However, I think having TPE be received automatically instead of through the claim system would be a bit easier. 3) The VHLM Newsletter launched earlier this week, did you read it and was it helpful to you? It's amazing the depth the league goes into to bring that little aspect of realism into the site. It makes you a bit excited to see what they do during the upcoming season. Hell, even what they feature in the draft. 4) What are your aims this season in the VHLM? Contribute, be active, and learn the ropes. 5) With the teams starting to take shape, who do you consider to be the favourite for the VHLM Founders Cup? Reapers. And I am only picking them strictly based on how aggressive the name sounds. 6c) If a GM were to make you an offer, what kind of player would they be getting? (If you're currently unaffiliated). Someone who is going to give their all, learn what he can, take advice and listen.

  23. As the title suggests, this is my first graphic. I am a noob, trying to learn the ways of 'holy sh*t that's cool'. Feedback and suggestions welcome.
  24. Review: Absolutely epic! There's hard to find anything to criticize about this graphic, I love the colors, and the simplicity feel to it. There's also a mean, 'this guy means business' feel to it. Helmets off to you! This has to be one of my favorites that I have seen thus far, truly gifted. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more!
  25. Review: Everything about this pops. From the colors, the font choice, the party going on in the background; everything flows with this. I can't find a single thing wrong with this (except maybe the player choice? Kidding). Great job! You are extremely talented.
