  1. Review: This is absolutely awesome, love the feel of this one. The text is a cool font, easy to read; the oil like effect is killer. All around, a great graphic and really hard to find anything to not like about this, because it's freaking amazing. Great job! Keep it up!
  2. Review: Great job on the cut out of the player. I like the fact you altered the colors of the jersey, and put a logo on it, which is something I am still learning how to do. Overall, I like the graphic, I think the background makes it a bit busy, but really doesn't take away from it. The text effect is cool. Good job, keep it up!
  3. Review: I like the effort put into this, and changing the jersey colors to match the Titans is pretty slick. I think it would have benefited you to just cut out the bottom half above where it says 'Draft Kings', and then just go from there to use the image. Small flaw really, but overall, I love the colors used, and that you put a logo on the jersey. Great job!
  4. Review: I like this. The text is cool, and the player cut is nicely done. I don't necessarily like the three glow rings around the player, though I do understand why you did it; it ties in with the other colors. Great job all around, though! Keep it up!
  5. Review: Really like the overall feel of this one. The background and effects that bleed into the image are awesome, and I like that you put the logo on the shoulder. I think the only thing I could really find fault with this is that there's still the Yotes logo on the chest, whereas I would have cloned it out so it was just the white jersey. SMALL flaw at that; this is still amazing. Great work!
  6. In the first installment of VHLM Insight, we will take a look at the top two teams in the league, the team sitting comfortably at the bottom, and give an honorable mention. We're approaching the 30 games played mark in the VHLM, and the field is starting to take shape. The picture is becoming a bit clearer as teams that are dominating, teams that are in the middle of the pack, and teams who are falling out of playoff contention are settling in on the standings bracket. The teams who make up the Top 5 are Philadelphia, Ottawa, Minnesota, Halifax, and Houston - each having less than 10 loses and coming in well above .500 in terms of wins and loses. Yukon currently sits in the sixth position, and is the only other team outside of the Top 5 to be above .500; the remaining five teams all sit well below. The exception to this is Saskatoon, who is only a few games back from evening out their average, and could potentially get it together to be above .500 at some point in the season. THE TWO TITANS OF THE VHLM Philadelphia currently sits on top of the VHLM with 47 points, and a record of 23-3-1. The Reapers leading scorer is Center Alex Pearson, who has 24 goals and 22 assists for a points total of 46. Pearson also leads the VHLM in goals. Defenseman Brandon LeBlanc leads the team in assists, with 33, but also currently sits 4th on the Reapers for goals with 12. LeBlanc also leads the league in assists, and is also sitting atop the league for Defensemen. Goalie Fang Flashback holds an impressive record of 22-2-0, a 2.16 Goals Against Average, with 5 Shutouts and a Save Percentage of .883. Flashback is number one in the league for wins, and has three assists, the most for any goalie in the league. With the help from their spectacular goalie, and their powerful offensive performance, it is easy to see why the Reapers are sitting atop the standings. Ottawa finds themselves in second place with 43 points, two games behind the Reapers, with a record of 21-5-1. Center Zeno Minti leads the Lynx in both goals and assists, 20 and 29 respectively, for 49 points which is also the best on the team. Left Winger Anthony Hawk holds second place in points for the team at 41, and is probably one of the deadliest on the ice with his impressive 112 hits. Goalie Raymond Bernard has a record of 17-3-0, a Save Percentage of .87, 1 Shutout, and a Goals Against Average of 2.74. With the strong play from Minti and Hawk, look for Ottawa to stay on the heels of the Reapers in the coming week. STARTING AT THE BOTTOM Sitting in the very last spot for the league is the Mississauga Hounds, who hold a record of 5-21-1 with 11 points. There's not a single player on the Hounds roster who has a positive -/+ rating, with the exception of one player who has only played a total of three games. You could blame the abysmal record on schedule strength, maybe. It's hard to win games when your leading goal scorer has only 7 goals in the 27 games they have played, and the rest of the offense isn't getting enough chances to help produce. Maybe some trades could help correct the ship on this team, time will tell, but for now they looked to be destined to sit at the bottom of the pack. HONORABLE MENTION It's worth noting the play from the Minnesota Storm, who currently hold the third place spot in the standings at a record of 20-6-1, sitting one game behind Ottawa with 41 points. Defenseman Kefka Palazzo leads the team with 44 points, and also leads in assists with 30. Left Winger Berocka Sundqvist leading the team in goals with 20. Goalie Justin Cole has a 20-6-1 record, an impressive 7 Shutouts, and an equally impressive .899 Save Percentage. Cole leads the league for goalies in Goals Against Average (1.91), Shutouts (7), and comes in second for Goals Against Average (0.899). Sitting one game back from Ottawa, look for the landscape to change when it comes to the Top Three Teams in the VHLM. @diamond_ace @berocka @Jayrad28 @Psanchez55 @Zeno @ahawk2191 @WhiteMocha @uphillmoss @Mr_Hatter
  7. 1. I think being a well-known player would be nice. Superstar status would be nice, but not really a goal; I just want to help whatever team I am on win, and if winning a championship happens, the better. 2. Player name is just a name I've always liked, and username is something I've used for gaming for the past 11 years. 3. Left Wing is a position I've always liked in hockey. I guess winger in general, but whenever I've played any hockey game I tend to play the left slot (be it winger or defense). It's always been a comfortable position to play, whereas playing as a right handed player in a right slot has always felt odd to me, I don't like having my stick hand against the boards - I'd rather have the puck out in the open ice as opposed toward the board. 4. Feels good to have knocked off a strong team, and at the time of this posting they are up to 6 regulation loses now, so might be nice to think we started to spark their loses. 5. Yep. I think we will have more end up inside the Top 10, but Hawk and Minti are gonna lead the charge. 6. Hawk, by far. Look at his stats, he is a complete and utter beast. Not only can the dude score, but he's handing out hits to anyone who tries to stop him.
  8. Review: Love this. The font is awesome, the glow around the player (whether it was intentional or part of the picture already) is awesome. I like how it's like a hybrid player card. I think maybe putting a border around it would help, it wasn't until I clicked the picture that I realized it was all one graphic instead of three separate ones. Great job!
  9. Review: Part of me is tempted to do this review in a John Madden explaining football style, but I am just too amazed at this art. I am digging the background and the color choices, the font is awesome and it's really hard to find anything to complain about with this as it is just executed extremely well.
  10. Review: Love the overall feel to this graphic. I think I'd soften the glow behind the player just a touch, just so it's not the first thing that draws you to the graphic and allows the player to subtly pop out instead of BAM. I get the effort behind it, I may be wrong, but it's supposed to be like a burst, right? That explains all the orbs of energy. Good job, keep it up.
  11. Review: Well, you've done it again. Spectacular graphic, the effects and colors work well. I think my only gripe would be the Helsinki Titans font is a bit hard to read, but other than that, can't really find much else wrong with it. Great job!
  12. Review: Not sure why, but I absolutely love this. The color choice, the text style...just all ties in for a simple, amazing graphic. I am not going to even try to find something wrong with it, mostly because I suck at graphics, but mainly due to it being kick ass. Great job!
  13. Review: Love the effects on this. I think my only suggestion would be to swap the box that is around the first name and put it around the last name. I think the extra space with it being around the first just has a weird empty space to it. Also, I am new to graphics, and you are by far way above where I am at the moment. So keep it up!
  14. Review: Awesome graphic. I like the brush style effect that bleeds into the player; One thing that I think could use some changing is the font color choice for 'Pearson', and 'Philadelphia Reapers'. I know you have the drop shadow in white, and it works, but the latter is hard to read. Overall, awesome graphic, love the logo on the jersey!
  15. Review: I like this a lot. The effects are simple, but what I really like about this is the usage of the font styles. The two colors work well with the graphic, and I love the font choice. Overall a great graphic!
  16. Sorry for the long response time, I couldn't scroll through all your signatures quik enough. I am just trying to expand my GIMP knowledge.
  17. Just messing around with different effects and figuring out how to do different things on different layers. I think I am getting the hang of it, but, I know I am a ways off from where I want to be with using graphics, and GIMP.
  18. Forwards: Hank Williams Jr. Garrison Ford Goalie: Ree Bounds Happy Birthday, VHL!
  19. I was bored one night, couldn't sleep. So, I made this.
  20. We are five games into VHLM Season 67, and we decided again to sit down with Ottawa Lynx Left Winger, rookie Micha Sage. First off, Micha thanks for sitting down with us again and letting us get your thoughts on the season thus far. Ottawa is four and one to start off the first five; What are your thoughts on the season so far? Thanks for having me, again! Yeah, it feels really good to have that good of a record for the first five games. I think I was pretty nervous going into the first game, for sure. I made some silly mistakes, and was set on learning from my mistakes. I got my first goal of the season, which was a relief. Our first game against Halifax we ended up losing by three, but I think overall it was humbling to us, we learned so much from that loss and turned it around. The team is solid. I think we have a great core of capable players who will put up big numbers come the end of the season. You mentioned scoring your first goal of the season, which is your first of your VHLM career. Can you elaborate on that? What was going through your mind before and after? Oh man. Uh, a lot was going through my mind afterwards, I guess before I was really focused on creating a chance. Bernie made a good save from the face off in our own zone, Thorny did awesome picking it up and moving it up ice to Karaz. We had the momentum moving in, and Karaz fed me the puck and it ended up in the back of the net. Solid play by everyone. You have six points after five games. What do you credit for that and are you hoping to make more of an impact with your scoring or tacking up more assists and being a playmaker? I think credit has to go where it's due, and that's to our coaching staff and the great group of guys I have playing around me. Without my teammates looking to feed me the puck, I wouldn't have chances to put it in the net, so really I have to thank my team. I think our chemistry is where it should be, and I think if we can keep this up we will be a team that will be hard to beat. Uh, I guess it would be nice to make an impact with my goal scoring. I mean, whatever happens, happens, but obviously I want the team to win. If I get a few goals along the way, so be it, I will be happy as long as we are winning games. Looking at your team, who do you see ending the season with the most goals? Apart from me? Haha, only joking; Seriously, I think there are a few guys on the team who will put up some big numbers come seasons end. Wags, Hawk, and Minti Fresh are some names that I feel are going to be consistently scoring goals for us. Even though it's only five games in, don't be surprised if Parkey, Scott, Ras, and Eastwood start producing goals, too. Honestly, I couldn't be more blessed to be part of a great team, and I think we are going to turn some heads. A pleasure as always, Micha. Look forward to chatting with you next time, and best of luck to you and the Lynx in your upcoming games. Thanks!
  21. 1. We've had a few games so far this season, do you like how things are going? I think we have a great core going, and reading the stats from the games I think we have the right pieces in place. 2. How do you feel about the team in general, anything you would change? I have zero knowledge on what all goes into making a team into a winning machine; I think what we have going now is working, and after a few more games we can start to see what needs tweaking. 3. If you were drafted by Ottawa do you like that? And if you signed with Ottawa why? I love that Ottawa grabbed me. I had a feeling Acyd would pick me up, and it was getting pretty nerve racking seeing the rounds go by. Then, I was picked up. 4. Anything me or Acyd could do to make the team better, either lines or anything in discord/forums. I have a few ideas that may be fun, I'll shoot you some ideas in Discord. Apart from that, I think you both do a fantastic job. 5. Do you have a favourite VHL team or one you would like to be drafted by? Or do you still need time to learn them? I think I am still too new to the league to see what the tendencies are for each team, both VHL and VHLM. 6. How has your entire VHL experience been? This has been a good break from life, and it's fun to be a part of a community that seems to have fun with one another, and on the graphic aspect, I am learning so much that I can't wait to see what other people post next week, and what I come up with as the weeks go by!
  22. Trying to expand my graphic knowledge, trying things; some things work, some things don't. I like this (sort of), I know it could be loads better, but it is outside my realm of being able to do it. For now.
  23. Whoa, thanks for the shoutout! Really appreciate it, and this was extremely well done!
  24. Review: Not even going to try and find something wrong with this. I absolutely love it, the style, the format...all works so damn well. Great job!
