  1. Aurelien Moreau playing tor the Kitchener Rangers. Aurelien Moreau Junior Review -Minor Midget- Moreau started playing for the Toronto Marlboros of Midget AAA when he was 15 years old. He was relatively unknown at this stage. He had only began playing hockey at the age of 12. But his skating already impressed his youth coaches. "Aure is a bit of a raw talent he is already really big for his age and has a lot of tools you wouldn't expect someone that size to possess." Coach Moore of the Marlboros stated ahead of the OHL draft. During his time playing for the Marlboros, Moreau amassed 350 PIMs over two seasons (42 games) and an impressive +50 rating. But only 10 points over that span. Those numbers would be enough to catch the eye of OHL scouts. -OHL- Moreau would be drafted 48th overall by the Kitchener Rangers. Rangers head of scouting had this to say "We like the size and compete this kid brings everyday we also see huge upside for Moreau at both ends of the ice". Moreau started slow in the OHL adjusting to the pace more structured coaching. In his first 10 games with the Rangers, Moreau was a -10 with 0s across the board. It wasn't until after the Christmas break that Moreau began to show his potential. After his first 10 games he would go on to finish the regular season a plus 22 with 10 points, all assists. As well as an astonishing 304 hits. This would allow him to catch lightning in a bottle with a physically dominating playoff performance. Helping the Rangers reach the Conference finals where they would be eliminated in seven games by the London Knights. VHLM scouts began to notice Moreau and his defensive acumen. -VHLM- After witnessing his first and only OHL season and playoffs. The Halifax 21st took a flyer on Aurelien and signed him to a professional try-out. He would play 3 games for Halifax. In those 3 games, the raw tools were evident with how he used his size to defend and his skating to exit the d-zone with ease. The Missasauga Hounds saw enough upside that they decided to select him early in the draft 18th overall. To date Aurelien has played 25 games posting a 4th best hits total with 108. As well as 55 shot blocks. But most surprisingly 18 points as his offensive game is one of his glaring weaknesses. The advanced data shows Moreau is above replacement level in his own end. But that his point totals don't reflect how inept he has been on offense. -S77 VHL Draft- As Aurelien Moreau tries to build his stock for the upcoming draft, most draft pundits see him as a reliable defensive defensemen. But they project him as a 2nd rounder due to the high floor and low ceiling of this player.
  2. 1) We've moved ourselves up into the 8th playoff spot with a 9-13-2 record so far. Can we hang onto the last playoff spot? I believe we can that's what we have to believe anyway. 2) What do you think we need to improve most to keep up in the playoff hunt? Continual growth and activity from the whole team. Hopefully progress all the way to the top of the league if not this season then next. 3) Are you happy with your performance so far this season? Why or why not? What's the one thing you'd most like to improve on? I think the -9 sticks out like a sore thumb. Would like to be a plus player considering he's built as a defensive defensemen. 4) Do you have any superstitions? Lucky equipment, pre-game routine, anything like that? Drink earl grey tea before games and a lucky pair of flame socks. 5) Who is your player's hockey idol (VHL or NHL)? Apollo Skye the way he played for the Quebec City Meute through good and bad times. Real inspiration. 6) What's your favourite VHL moment so far? The expansion from the first VHL site to the second to the third being this one and eventually the portal. Continual growth just like our team.
  3. @Quik looking like prime Quik.
  4. Aurelien Moreau drafted 18th overall by the Missasauga Hounds. Position: Defense Birthplace: Gatineau, Quebec Height/Weight: 6'8"/240lbs Playing Style: Rugged stay at home defensemen. Favourite VHL Player: Apollo Skye @Velevra Aurelien Moreau is a notable prospect for the upcoming Season 77 VHL draft. His playing style is a bit under appreciated as the less modern stay at home defenseman in comparison to a smooth skating puck mover. After watching him in a handful of VHLM contests this season we feel comfortable releasing our scouting report on Moreau with both his strengths and weaknesses. As well as what we believe he could bring to the VHL team that selects him. Pros+ Skating - One of Moreau's most surprising skills is his skating ability. He moves quickly and effortlessly for such a big man. His skating is so strong that it actually assists him in a lot of other attributes like positioning and physicality. His quick feet allow him to exit the defensive zone with ease as well as keep coverage. Defense/Physicality - Aurelien is always the first man back and has a knack for boxing players out and keeping them to the outside. He hits to hurt and eliminate the opposition as we saw in the VHLM playoffs last season with a 3 game suspension. Many scouts compare his playing style to that of NHL defenseman Scott Stevens and how he defends the neutral zone. Decision Making/Positioning - As mentioned previously his positioning in all three zones are sound. What has scouts thinking there may be more untapped potential is Moreau's decision making and first pass. As he is one of the best defenseman in the VHLM in zone exits and puck retrieval. Cons- Offensive Instincts - Although his first pass and zone exits are above average. Everything past the red line is replacement level. He's like the anti new age defenseman. Most scouts see him as far too conservative to be an impact player offensively. Tentative passing and poor puck skills at the blueline. Discipline - His mean streak is an attractive quality to many scouts but it can hurt his team with untimely penalties or misconducts. Which is even more detrimental because the team is missing their best penalty killer and down a defensemen. Offensive Zone Play - So far in his short career his offensive zone play has been a detriment with poor decision making and slap shots off the end glass. If he can improve his play in the o-zone he will shoot up draft rankings. Prospect Grade 7.5B, Aurelien Moreau projects as a 2nd pairing defensive defensemen. We see Moreau as a complementary player who could solidify a pairing with a more offensive minded defenseman. If he wants to improve his game he'll need to work heavily on his offensive skills to be considered a top defensemen in the draft.
  5. Missasauga, ON Jan. 28, 2020 The Hounds currently sit last place in their division. Despite some hopeful signs from the teams many young players. @Spartakiller2 Guy Lambert has been a bright spot with his strong two way play. Some scouts are comparing him to Patrice Bergeron in the NHL. On defense Aurelien Moreau and Chris P Bacon @Chris P Bacon both show great promise and could make a dynamic duo in Season 77. Chris P Bacon can carry the play with his offensive skills and his partner Moreau will cover him in the d-zone. Druss Deathwalker @animal74 and Miles Johnson @Midnite have the makings of a promising top line. Right now Missasauga must be patient with it's young players and allow the core that @Zetterberg and @tcookie have built to progress and learn what it takes to win. All this is building towards Season 77. With the right off season moves and continued growth during Season 76 the Hounds could be a force.
  6. 1) Welcome to the newest Hounds, Elvis Michael, Kirby Pandora, and Xavier Lost! What do you think the new players will bring to the team? Hoping the new guys can bring energy and some youthful enthusiasm. 2) Do you watch much of the other VHLM games or just keep to the Hounds? Only teams close to Missasauga in the standings. Unless the refs make it unwatchable. 3) We had a bit of a slow start but it's starting to come around. At time of writing, we're only 2 points out of the playoffs. How do you feel about how the season's gone so far? Great I feel like whatever success we have this season we can build toward next season with the experience gained. 4) Who do you have as the Hounds' MVP so far? Luke Spinelli. I feel like he's kept us in most games and we need to be better defensively from him. 5) With the Hounds' play looking up the last few sims, what are you going to do to help get better and keep things on the right track for this team? Improve defensively I feel like as a team we need to be better infront of our goalie since we lack the offensive firepower at this stage. 6) If you couldn't have been a hockey player, what career would you have gone into? Lion Tamer.

What will be your player's good luck charm for this year? Rabbits foot that we procured from a live rabbit while chanting around a fire in the woods. Hail satan.
  12. Moreau begins his VHLM career with the Halifax 21st. He is expected to be an intimidating presence on their bottom pairing, standing 6 foot 8 inches and 240 pounds. So far in two games he has recorded 1 assist and 2 PIM. Moreau is hoping a strong showing in the playoffs will increase his value in the upcoming VHLM draft. Based on the small sample size to date Moreau appears to be a shutdown defenseman who is not shy in using his big frame. He also is very agile for his size as his skating is one of his stronger assets. We asked Aurelien on his decision to sign with Halifax. "Honestly it was as simple as the number of Covid cases in the region as well as the chance to play in the post season." So far in an early VHL mock draft Moreau ranks 13th overall. If he continues to develop at his current pace we could see him finding his way into the first round. Exciting.
  13. 1. Does your player like to relax over the Christmas break, or do they get stressed out when they aren't busy training? Aurelien enjoys a cold beer and pork rinds to keep himself at weight. He stresses whether his teammates will notice the BMI change.2. Your player has been asked to take part in a charity event to give out gifts to all of the kids at the mall, what gift does your player choose out? Masks to protect the young ones from the effects of Corona Extra 19+. 3. Have you been taking part in any festive events? Festive drinking and zoom calls with people who share the same last name.4. The holiday season is also about being greatful, is there a player on Halifax who you feel thankful to/for? i don't know any of my teammates I just got access to the locker room then boom we're on vacay.5. Do you wanna build a snow man? No but I can watch.6. What design is on the christmas cards that you're sending out to your Halifax team mates this year? Sending them well wishes over the holiday season and to watch their backs cause I am coming for their roster spot. Also to be safe.
  14. Number of Covid cases in the region will way heavily in Aurelien's decision.
