  1. Beautifully said @leandrofg! I’m so happy your experience with our group was such a positive one. It brings me joy that you can look back and reflect in a positive light. I was spoiled with how great this core group of players were in Calgary and it saddens me it all had to come to an end. You’ve got two more seasons left and I hope you show the league how great Leandro Goncalves can be.
  2. Daryl Dixon is entering his 5th season post draft and 4th season with the Helsinki Titans. His career thus far has been filled with a lot of ups but mostly downs. It hasn’t been as easy as one would have hoped to find success in a franchise stuck in turmoil. I want to reflect on a few of the goods and bads so far and what the hopes are for his future. The Good Being drafted to a franchise in turmoil was no problem for Dixon. He wanted to be apart of the solution so naturally this was a good fit. He also got to be drafted with his brother Rick Grimes which was a dream come true. Helsinki did all they could to make it happen which was a great sign. They also brought in friend of Dixon’s, Fuuka Rask and then later added important pieces like Kronchy Kardashian and just recently YaBoi Oven. Dixon signing his big ticket Congrat with a max deal and an NTC was a highlight of his career as well. Mind you, he has yet to live up to the hype of this contract. One of the biggest highlights for Dixon is the interaction with members of the league he has never had a chance to interact with before. Creating these new relationships is important to Dixon. The Bad The franchise has continued to remain in turmoil. They taken shots to get competitive but have ultimately missed which has set the franchise back. There have been changes at the head of the organization which leaves a lot of uncertainty to the team on where the direction of the team is heading. Patience has been wearing thin for a lot of players so it’s been frustrating to say the least. Personally, Dixon has massively underperformed and hasn’t done his part to help the franchise. The Future There is hope. The new GM has started making moves to turn this team into contention. She had an amazing draft which looks to set up the future. Dixon will be sliding over to the Centre position to have him and Grimes as the 1/2 punch on the team. There’s still work to be done but the hopes are Helsinki is on the path upwards. As for himself personally, Dixon really needs to take a step forward to help prove he is capable of being a number one C and can lead Helsinki to a Continental Cup.
  3. S90 Calgary Wranglers Captains Assistant Captain: @Fradin99 Fradin McGryer Calgary is going against the grain and naming one of their rookies as part of their leadership group. Fradin McGryer has been an active voice in the locker room since being drafted and has continued that trend since moving up to the organization. Calgary will rely on him to continue to be that voice as they push through this rebuild. Assistant Captain: @ScottyP Rip Wheeler A 2nd year player with the Wranglers has shown he has what it takes to be consistent working on and off the ice to get better. We hope to see this continue in S90 as he helps lead this team through what looks to be a tough season and cements himself as a core piece of this team. Captain: @Phil Phil Strasmore The last remaining piece of the previous core who has been a part of this leadership group for quite some time. He moves up into the role as Captain with the retirement of Daniel Janser and looks to be a veteran leader for all of the young talent making their way into the Calgary Organization. Congratulations to our new Captains, let’s try to have some fun while also getting our asses kicked all season!

  7. S89 Calgary Wranglers Jersey Retirement Ceremony Daniel Janser has left his mark as one of the greatest players to ever wear a Calgary uniform. His numbers on the ice during his career speak for themselves: 2nd most career games, 3rd all-time in goals, 4th all-time in assists, 4th all-time in points, and top 5 in hits, shots, and game-winning goals. He collected a closet full of awards during his career which includes, 2 Kevin Brooks Trophies, 2 Brett Slobodzian Trophies, 2 Mike Szatkowksi Trophies, 1 Scott Boulet Trophy, 1 Scotty Campbell Trophy, a Victory Cup, and finally the Continental Cup. Each award was won as a member of the Calgary Wranglers. While his on-ice achievements are one of the greatest all-time in the Victory Hockey League, where Daniel Janser excelled was in the locker room. He joined the Wranglers in S82 and by S83 he was a part of the leadership group in Calgary. He would spend two seasons as an Assistant Captain before moving up to Captain in S85 where he led the team for 5 more seasons. He was a true leader of this team for his entire career and was beloved by every teammate that came through our locker room. He is the true definition of what it means to be a Wrangler and we are grateful to have had the chance to have a player like Daniel Janser in our organization. Congratulations @Daniel Janser, on a sensational career. The number 22 will now be lifted to the rafters and will join the list of Calgary Wrangler greats!

  9. CGY Presser for week ending August 13th 2023 1. Change has come in CGY, Thoughts on the VLG trade to DC? 2. Leandro was traded to Seattle, thoughts on that deal? 3. A few more names are rumoured to be on the move, who’s next?! 4. Rookies are taking over the team for S90, with SOME veteran presence. Who’s going to have a breakout rookie season? 5. Have you ever flown in a plane? If not, would you? Any scary flying moments? 6. Who should the Wranglers select with their recently acquired S90 8th OA pick?
