Miami Marauders press conference week ending August 11 2024 1. The draft has come and gone, how do you feel about the picks that Miami made? 2. Which pick is your favourite and why? 3. Miami is looking to be competitive but have some holes to fill in the roster. How should they look to fill those holes? 4. Are you apart of any other sim league? Which one is your favourite? 5. One month left of summer, what are you doing to enjoy what’s left of it? 6. If the NHL contracted to six teams, which six teams would you pick as the the ones to keep?

General Manager Kris Rice was most certainly stuck trying to decide what he wanted to do with Miami’s future. Some recent moves showed he is looking to get back to being competitive but the draft showed a bit of maturity in the GMs second stint with Miami. Draw Mac was selected by Miami at pick 11 and this was an absolute need. Having no goalie is a detriment to any team and to atleast he a playoff team GM Rice saw it necessary to take this up and coming stud netminder. Dog Jagr taken at pick 12 is where the maturity set in. Rice knew he had to fill a couple positions in order to fill out his line up but didn’t get tempted by the more experienced players who would be gone after next season. Instead he went with a familiar defender who he considers a project player. He may get to work with Jagr for a couple seasons to really develop him into a pro. Andreas Andreason taken 26th OA is another player that Rice has been keeping tabs on. He’s another project player that fills a positional need now and further down the road. We will likely see Andreason spend a few seasons with Miami as he develops. I like this draft for Miami, it may not have been the most flashy but it was certainly well thought out. Word Count: 232

Miami Marauders Presser for week ending August 4th 2024 1. The VHL draft is tomorrow, the VHLE draft is later this week and the VHLM draft is next weekend. Is this too many drafts to have in one league? 2. Miami just made a big trade bringing in two great players. Do you agree with GM Ricers approach in trying to be competitive next season? 3. You’re in Miami for training camp, what is the first touristy thing you’re doing? 4. If Miami had a mascot, what would it be and how would it be designed? 5. How’s your summer been? Any big plans for the remainder of it? 6. If you were stuck in a forest and you had to survive one month, what three items are you taking with you?

Yeah I’ve found the SHL and PBE to be a lot better especially at the lower levels. SBA is just bad lol

Personally, I love having an AGM. Just another voice in the room. Somebody to bounce ideas off of when it comes to trades, draft picks, etc. Another person to help with draft interviews and to help teach these first gen players. I live a busy life as many know and having an AGM allows me to have somebody there to help out if I’m busy. It’s crazy in some other leagues. In the PBE on the Vandals team, they have the GM, AGM and a council of so many people to help make decisions. I haven’t even played my first game for them and because of my sim league experience they have me helping them with draft selections as part of their council, which is crazy. That interactive culture makes it way more engaging and I will always be on the side to encourage that.

If you were to be redrafted or are being drafted for the first time, what is your dream team to be drafted too? 2. The Saskatoon Wild went back to back winning the Founders Cup, what do you think their recipe for success was? 3. Miami has one player rostered for next season but a handful of picks. Do you think they can be a playoff team next season? 4. What is one idea you have that could contribute to a player having a better experience in the VHLM? 5. The MLB season is about the only major sport on TV right now, do you root for any teams? If so, who? If not, why not? 6. Tell me a bit about yourself, do you work or go to school? What’s your profession? High school or college?
