  1. There are too many members in this league that I would have on my dream team. I could pick the ones who have had the most successful careers or even look at some legends and choose from that list but I don't think I will. I am going to pick members I just have a genuinely good connection with and make a team of people I would actually want to be apart of. Left Winger - Nathan Perry @tinafrombobsburgers Most people who know Tina also know that he is my brother. He was kind enough to stick out the majority of his career with Calgary even if it was at the detriment of having a successful career and winning trophies elsewhere. My brother and I have a life long friendship and no matter what I have got his back and I know he has got mine. Aside from a personal level he has also been a steady presence in the Calgary Locker Room. He has been apart of the captaincy group for a long time now and finished out his career in that same group. The captaincies are usually decided on by the team so that goes to show that everyone else thinks highly of him as well. There are plenty of choices I could have had here but Perry will always be my first one. Centre - Steve Eso @Eso Eso is not someone I have met in real life. I acquired him in a trade many seasons ago from a stacked Chicago roster who didn't have space for him. Their loss was my gain because Eso came into Calgary and was instantly one of my favorite users to interact with. He came in with a great attitude and fit in really well with the group of players that we had in Calgary. Over the time he spent with us in Calgary until the time I shipped his a$$ off to Malmo, we spent a lot of that getting to know each other. Everything from hockey, to camping, to fishing and our kids hockey there were no shortage of good things to talk about when he was around. A genuinely good person and that is why I am selecting him as my dream team Centre. Right Winger - Phil The Rock Johnson @Phil Ya ya I know! Total homer of an article but guess what!? It is my dream team and Imma do what I want! My dream team has to include this guy. Phil is a long standing member of this league and over the course of the last 5+ seasons he has grown to become one of my favorites. He has become an absolute die hard in Calgary, so much so that he wants to spend the remainder of his career in Calgary and has expressed that too me each and every time I check in with him about his player and the plans for their future. I love this kind of dedication from anyone and it makes a guy feel good knowing that you have created a place that someone really enjoys being in. Phil is a legend in this league and a legendary team mate in Calgary. Easy decision to slot him in to my RW dream team position. Defense - Tom Eagles @Greg_Di So many good people I have come across over my time in Calgary. Greg is absolutely one of those people. A man of few words but when spoken have a large impact. I hired him on as my AGM for the past few seasons and I have come to rely on him heavily for advice in this game. I can stray away and get crazy with trades, drafts and free agency but I always had him to keep me centered and make sure I was making the right decisions. From a player standpoint he has been a rock for Calgary his entire career. His numbers fluctuated from season to season but he never complained even once about that. A true team first player and for that I am grateful. Tom Eagles is my first choice defensemen for my dream team. Defense - Reylynn Reinhart Yes this is weird that I am picking my own player but it is for good reason. How can I have a dream team with these incredible people and not want to play along side them? I am choosing Reinhart when she was a defender because then she fits perfectly into this lineup. Its an honor to play along side these good people so I am slotting my self into the final defense position. Goaltender - Thadius Sales @thadthrasher Wait what? A non Calgary player?????? How could this be? Well not every good person plays in Calgary so my final spot on my dream team goes to Thadius Sales. Thad and I have had a really good relationship ever since he joined this league. Everyone loves Thad and I am no exception. He is just a genuinely good person who is very easy going and a pleasure to chat with. I feel like I could chat with Thad about anything going on in life and he would be happy to listen. I hope one day with any future player of his that I get a chance to bring them to Calgary (is this tampering?). Well there you have it, my dream team! There were a lot of snubs unfortunately but its tough to choose only five! Cow, Sam, Zetterberg, Prout and so many others I would love to have on my dream team too. Theres a ton of good people in this league and I will take a good team with good people over a Meta team any day.
  2. Tough to see another one go. We’ve had many talks with lots of ups and downs but I respect you as a GM and a member of this league. Goodluck in the future and I hope we see you back GMing sometime in the near future.
  3. After an extensive search and interview process which was one of the most difficult I have had to go through, we have officially hired our new AGM who will be starting right away. He will be working alongside myself and our current AGM @Greg_Di. Greg will be stepping aside once the season comes to an end. Welcome me in congratulating @Ben as the new Assistant General Manager of the Calgary Wranglers. I am happy to have him join our organization as I am a big believer in second chances and creating a better image of one’s self. Now let’s get to work!
  4. This is awesome Alex! Well done
  5. I didn’t do much for the JST haha. I was pulled so many different ways with Commissioning the WJC, the Victory ProAM, The JST and managing Calgary. Unfortunately my involvement lacked in the JST because of it.
  6. I agree with Fubbles! 45-75
  7. Congrats Sam! Well deserved
  8. I want to be respectful as possible here because it is such a minor thing to be complaining about. I would like to request that the VSN Crew gets its purple color back for the role on Discord. When the moderation team made their most recent hires they made the executive decision to just take away the role color that VSN had for so long and are now using it as their own. This hasn’t sat right with VSN members since the change happened. VSN members spend a large portion of their time producing content for this league. If you haven’t read many of the articles or seen any of the art work I implore you to go read through and have a look at some of the work that members in our very own league are producing. Now I am not suggesting at all that the moderation team isn’t working just as hard dealing with matters throughout the league. This however shouldn’t give them the right to take something so simple from another faction of the league that works equally as hard. So I ask, Please! Can the members of the VSN have their purple role color back? They deserve that tiny little bit of recognition for the hard work that they do. Thank you, Ricer13
  9. Like I said it’s only a part of the reason. Whether I “like” the member has zero to do with the decision.
  10. Just one other small thing that I add into my decision is the activity of the player. There’s a number of players with high points but very minimal earning that I didn’t vote for. I wanted to reward those who are doing a good job and earning more every week or are showing more activity and involvement in the league. Everyone on this list above got at least one vote by someone so it’s nice to see so many players getting some re cognition for their success!
  11. Review: There is a lot that I like here. Your placement of everything is on point. The backdrop works well, the use of two separate tenders is a nice touch and the autograph is really cool. A few suggestions I have are: -Spend even more time on the logo! You did well swapping it out and angling it nicely. There is a “warp” tool that I find fun to use which you can make it conform to the jersey even more which gives it a realistic feel. -Font! It’s placed so well in this photo but it is very plain and basic. It’s tough to want to spend more time on the font when you’ve spent so much time on jersey and logo swaps but the font is such an important part of a graphic. -It is very wide. Some people like this but personally I find it too wide. It’s more or less playing around with the sizing more and trying different things. Overall it’s a very cool graphic. I just wanted to give some constructive criticism. Rating: 7.5/10
  12. I actually ran something similar against them in our playoff series last season as a test and we took them to 7 games. Ultimately we lost but it did work well.
  13. Klamasteris is a beast
  14. Calgary is sadly losing their AGM @Greg_Diat the end of this season. Exciting things are happening in his life and I am thrilled for him even though that does mean we will have less of him in Calgary. I want to thank him for everything he’s done for us and he will be sticking around for the remainder of the season to help the new AGM get accustomed to how we do things. I am looking for a member who is eager to learn and will be a vocal part of our team.It would be great to have someone I can bounce ideas off of, help me scout and draft, and will keep me in check when my trading addiction runs wild. If you are interested in this position please comment below or DM me.
  15. 1) 5-3-2 lolz! Pretty average start I would think. 2) Absolutely. Reinhart has trained consistently and is ready to lead this team to a championship. 3) Reinhart, Nasherov, Eagles 4) I am participating this season. I think team looks really good so far. A good mix of offense, physicality and an amazing goaltender. 5) To be honest I am not really a practical joker. I love jump scaring my kids but that’s as far as that goes haha. 6) My jokes are more puns or dad jokes. Any long winded inappropriate jokes are a thing of the past.
  16. I would also like to back what Alex is saying about inactive players. In no way, shape or form that M, E or VHL GMs should be playing inactive players over active players. Yes we want good competition but how is that good for retention if players are getting no ice time or points. If all teams follow the same rule of activity>inactivity then the playing field will be fair.
  17. They wouldn’t need to play bots if they just sign players to come play in the VHL rather than in the E. If it’s within the rules there is no issue with that outcome, it just inconveniences the E GMs who should be able to manage around that.
  18. If VHL teams don’t have enough players for full rosters how are E teams supposed to have enough? Each league should have a minimum requirement and as nice as 6-4-2 is, it isn’t always going to work out that way as the league numbers continue to fluctuate.
  19. Don’t love the “VHL GMs making a mistake” part. Unfortunately teams are going to have to be at the bottom of the league and teams rebuild. The VHL needs to maintain a minimum roster requirement as well which is important. I don’t want to sit here and pretend the VHL is better than the VHLE but it should take precedent over players within the guidelines of the rules. The issue that I think is the biggest, is the lack of communication between the VHL and VHLE GMs. I like Jansers recommendation of implementing a timeframe that VHL GMs are allowed to call up these players. If they don’t call them up then they are now the VHLE teams property for that following season. We need to work together and I don’t think relegation is the answer at this time. Could be a solution down the road but all other avenues should be looked at first. Relegation would be pretty fun though but could get messy!
  20. It does start with the GMs and not just in the VHLM but throughout all levels. I look at an LR like Miami when I was running that place and the amount of members that came out of that team that are now prominent members in the league. All it took was a GM who cared enough to put in the time to check in regularly. Once you got people talking and getting to know each other the activity sustained itself and retention remained high. That same effort hasn’t changed since moving up to the VHL as a GM. Continuing to progress the resources we have to help new members learn how the league works and what they need to do to succeed will also go a long way in helping people stay. It’s really hard to navigate this league when you first join. There are resources to help make it easier such as TPE Guides and build tutorials but we can always continue to improve on those to help new members better understand.
