Calgary Wranglers Season 81 Awards Another great season has wrapped up for the Calgary Wranglers but before we move on to the next one I would like to take a moment to show some recognition to the players for the season we just had. A season full of ups and downs saw the Wrangler's finish 3rd in their conference and win their first playoff off series in quite some time. Ultimately they fell short but they look primed to take another step forward in season 82. Now let's get to the awards and the players who deserve them. Top Shelf Award This award is given to the player who leads the team in goals scored during the regular season. This player finished the regular season with 51 goals which is the highest I have seen so far during my tenure as Calgary's GM. He spent the majority of the season manning the second line which makes it all that much more impressive. 51 goals is a new career high for him which is 12 goals better than his previous career high. Congratulations to Gutislav Nasherov @Vat on winning the Season 81 Top Shelf Award! Rybak Trophy The Rybak Trophy is all about who led the team in points during the regular season. This seasons Top Shelf Award winner Gutislav Nasherov @Vat also led the way for the Wranglers in points as the only player to finish above 100 points. He finished with 51 goals and 50 assists for a total of 101 points which is a new career high for him as well. He beat his previous record but 24 points! He really did make the most of his opportunity last season and put up an elite performance each and every game. Congratulations Nasherov! Young Buck Award Prospects are an important part of any organization as they are the players who will shape the future of your franchise. The Young Buck Award shines line on one lucky prospect who showed the most potential to become a future star in the VHL. The recipient of the Young Buck Award for season 81 is Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser. Janser spent season 81 down in the VHLE split between the Oslo Storm and the Istanbul Red Wolves. He was a leader in the Oslo Locker Room as he carried the majority of the work load for a bottom feeder team. His talents were highly sought after and was later traded to the top team in the league in Istanbul. He played more of a depth role for the Wolves but his point totals aren't what make Janser such a special player. The amount of work he puts in, on and off the ice are what make him stand out above the rest. He doesn't take a week off from his training, is constantly checking in on how Calgary is doing and has been chomping at the bit to get his chance to move up to the big show. This is why Daniel Janser is the season 81 Young Buck Award winner! Sheriff's Badge It is fitting that this player receives this award time and time again. This is his third consecutive Sheriff's Badge and I am starting to run out of things I can say about this player to explain what he has meant to this organization. He is as selfless as they come, always the voice in the locker room to congratulate the team when they're doing well and the one to pick the team up during heavy slumps. His personal game has had its ups and downs but never lets that get in the way of his team first mentality and will always put his team mates ahead of his own needs. He is going into his final season as a Calgary Wrangler and when his time in the VHL is over he will be sorely missed. Congratulations on another Sheriff's Badge Nathan Perry @tinafrombobsburgers Last Line Award The Last Line Award is given to the top defensemen during the regular season. This past season the Calgary Wranglers picked up a young defensemen who had been given up on by the Seattle Bears. Well their loss was Calgary's gain as this player was exceptional during his first season with the team. He finished second on the team with 89 points which is 30 points higher than his career high. He also led the Wranglers with 76 assists and was a steady force on the powerplay all season long. Just when you think that offense if what this guy is all about, think again! He had a plus minus of 28 which is +53 better than his previous season and led the team in shots blocked which shows how committed he is on both ends of the ice. Congratulations to Erlantz Jokinen @jRuutu on winning the season 81 Last Line Award. Jubis Memorial Trophy This next award is given to the player who demonstrates the best potential at long term success in the VHL. This could be on the ice or off the ice as a user. This winner of this award is already an established, long term member of this league. He is being given this award because his player has demonstrated that he has the potential to be a force in this league for many seasons to come. He came into this league as a rookie last season and had to step into the role of the top line center fairly quickly. It was a lot to ask of a young player in this league but he stepped into the role and lead this team through a roller coaster of a season. He has proven to management and his teammates that he is ready take the next step in this league and I am excited to see what this next season will bring for this young player. Congratulations Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream on being award the Jubis Memorial Trophy. Most Valuable Wrangler The Most Valuable Wrangler is decided on my the players on the roster. The vote this season was very close as the nominees for this award all had exceptional seasons. The player awarded the Most Valuable Wrangler for season 81 is none other than Gutislav Nasherov @Vat. The statistics speak for themselves. He led this team on the ice through a wild season. His play on the ice isn't the only thing that stands out about this player. He is also a big hit in the locker room with his teammates. The comradery with his teammates off the ice creates some amazing chemistry on the ice. Anyone he lined with found success and that's because he helps everyone around him become a better player. It is an honor to have your peers think so highly of you which is why Nasherov is so deserving of this award. Congratulations! Top Graphic Many users are starting to try their hand at different types of point tasks and as much as it is important to recognize how they are doing on the ice, it is equally important to highlight some of the work they are doing off the ice. Lucifer Oliver Levesque @InstantRockstar has done some exceptional work when it comes to creating graphics. You can scroll through years of graphics this member has contributed over the years and each of them are top tier graphics. I am pleased to have had a member play on the Wranglers with such great talent. Congrats Rockstar on winning the Top Graphic Award! Here is a recent graphic he made for his new player. Top Media Spot This next member isn't afraid to share his opinions on matter's throughout the league. He is blunt and honest and that is what I like about the material he writes about. He has been around the league for a long time and is a well respected member. It is well worth the time to check out some of things he has to say. I feel he deserves to be recognized for the work he puts in for his players and that is why Sirkants Klamasteris @hedgehog337 is the winner of the Top Media Spot Award! This article encompasses exactly what I'd expect when reading a Hedge article! Top Podcast The podcast game is slowly growing in the VHL and deserves to be recognized to continue to encourage more members to start giving it a try. This member is no stranger to the Podcast game and has been a recipient of this award in the past. His podcasts are always well prepared, laid out and the execution is flawless. Need your VHL fix while driving to and from work? Then I recommend giving any podcast this member puts out. Congratulations Phil The Rock Johnson @Phil on winning the Top Podcast Award! The podcast I have chosen Phil talks about the VHL Playoffs and incorporates another member into his podcast to talk about rookies in the VHL. Congratulations to all of our season 81 winners. I am looking forward to what season 82 has in store for the Calgary Wranglers. I truly do appreciate all of you for your commitment to this team. Go Wranglers GO! word count: 1500 +

Great work Alex! Congrats to all the winners

Thank you for the updated list LilP!

I like my job. It isn’t always perfect and my only biggest drawback is working in the elements. I get to learn new things every day and the company I work for has treated me like gold. They’ve done so many good things for me and my family over the years. I would eventually like to become part of the ownership group but I still a lot to learn before I get to that point.
-
Congrats @Alex! You’ve done a kick ass job thus far. Now time for one of those in the VHL

1) I like the pick because we had no goalies in the pipeline. First gens always make me nervous but I have faith in this one. 2) I was actually busy at my sons hockey game so I missed most of it. 3) Getting to know my new teammates and learning the systems in Calgary. 4) I’d like to see someone who is meant for a 2nd pair and can contribute to the offense. 5) 20 minutes usually. Sometimes longer if I’m busy socializing. 6) A flint, netting and a tarp. Need to be able to start a fire, catch fish and have shelter from the elements.

Shit the rumours have already started

Reylynn Reinhart has just been traded across the world. New management has come in to Davos and decided to clean house so they could start with a clean slate. First we saw the deal that sent Taro Tsujimoto to Seattle. Then we saw Poopy Peepants get moved to Malmo. Not long after that Reinhart was next on the chopping block. Reinhart has an NTC which allowed her to have a lot of the power on where she wanted to go. She wanted to stay in her conference but the offers were coming from the NA conference. Reinhart wasn’t a fan of the options she had until one came along from Calgary. She was excited to be able to have the opportunity to play along some well respected players like Nathan Perry and Phil The Rock Johnson. Reinhart waived her NTC and is off to Calgary. Switching teams isn’t the only big change in Reinharts career…but more on that later… word count : 160

I feel this. A lot of what you’re saying happened to me as well. But of course silly me wanting to be there for everyone fell for it hook, line and sinker. What Horcrux did was sick and disturbing. I built a “friendship” with this person, spoke daily and talked to each other about our personal lives. To find out it was all a sham and done in the way Kachur did it was a shock to the system.

Position switch from D to F. @Josh

You too Mate! Goodluck in Davos

1.) Absolutely Rivalries should be a think! As long as it doesn’t get out of hand, rivalries are an important part of competition. 2.) My current player Reylynn Reinhart doesn’t actually have any rivalries which is kind of sad actually. 3.) The Endemic. The end of this stupid pandemic. Hopefully this is the year! Questions: 1) Wolves are back to back Champions! How do you feel about that? Which team were you rooting for? 2) Davos just hired on a new GM, is Alex going to turn this franchise around? 3) What is your favourite sitcom and why?

I’ll miss Tallinder! I hope he makes his return and can have a good second half of his career.

When I first offered this item up for auction I never did picture doing an post that was all about the person who won the auction. I thought I might help someone write an article, or maybe interview for someone and their media spot. Cow wanted this article to be all about him and for the spirit of the holidays I was down for anything. Over the holidays I was fairly busy with work being as that it was -30C for three weeks straight. This gave me time to think about what I wanted to do with this article and during that time I came up with a really great idea. Rather than JUST being a post all about Cow (which it still is), I decided that I wanted to turn it into an "Appreciation" post and have a few of his closest VHL friends including myself share a few words about what Cow has meant to them. I will start it off with my own thoughts and experience and then share a few things that others have shared with me. Cow and I have "known" each other for over two years. It feels weird to say that because the time I've spent here has not felt at all like two years. He gave me my first opportunity to become and AGM in this league back in our days in Yukon. I did the 90 percent of the work and he made some trades and set some lines but honestly that is the way I liked it and that worked for both us. I would eventually move up from there to become the GM of Miami but Cow and I remained friends from that point on. He has been one of the constants for me in this league. We have played Chel together, worked in the ProAM together, done NHL fantasy leagues together and sometime soon I am going to get to show my daughter the farm that he gets to work on (as long as he is clothed during this tour). I could go on and on about how highly I think of @MexicanCow123as a person and a member of this league but I would like to share a few things now that other members had to say. @Beaviss had some amazing words to say about Young Cow. The two of them have worked together on the recruitment team and you can always catch them in Gen Chat talking Canucks hockey during most game days. Here is what Beaviss had to say about Cow: "Cows cool and real. We will see a hockey game once he is of age together. #EvanGang" Truly touching isn't it? This next member has a history with Cow that goes back to his VHLM GM days. He was the person to hire Cow as the Yukon GM, Cow has played on his VHL team before and they are now opposing GM's in the VHL. Here is what @Banackockhad to say about Jordan. "Jordan is a good kid. We share the same name, this is how I know. He was good to work with in the many roles he’s had and while we suspiciously have our differences sometimes as managers, I respect who he is and enjoy working with him to help our teams. He’s also a better simmer than the other ones. I’d probably say just under Bek maybe as he’s been doing it longer but that’s good." Some friends of Cow’s are fairly new in comparison to some of these other members. We are always affecting people in different ways throughout our entire life. Here’s what @Moon wanted to say. “I first talked to Cow at the JST during the off-season of S80 I believe and He first thought I was a young child smh... But after that we talked almost everyday with Z in VC and Cow made a VC for us named "Cow + Moon = Love". As much as Cow can be obnoxious and absolutely dumb... He is a very nice person. Love ya Cow “ Juice and Cow are also connected by the Yukon Rush! They brought a cup to Yukon after a long drought am seemingly a friendship grew from this experience. Here is what @Juice had to say. "Cow is a pretty rad dude. He help lead my beloved Yukon to it's first cup win (and last, Rest in Peace my baby boy) in quite some time, he helps get me killed in EFT, and when he's not too busy stuffing his face with candy he's a pretty funny guy too. Overall a great dude." This next member was a big part of MexicanCows start to his VHL days. He was a mentor of sorts to young Cow and was the one who gave him his first opportunity to become an AGM in this league. I have seen first hand what this friendship has turned into and this is what @InstantRockstar had to say about his young apprentice. "What does MexicanCow mean to me? Well, first and foremost, I'd say friendship. I met MC what feels like forever ago as he entered the league and was as we all were, quite new to the sim league world. It seemed like fairly quickly we became friends and I have to say where everything changed was when I made the decision to hire him to be the AGM in San Diego. If you want to find someone who is reliable, caring, compassionate and willing to do anything & everything for someone or something, MC is your guy. I couldn't have asked for a better AGM to help me during my long tenure in SD and I'm very glad that I got to go on the VHLM journey with him. At the end of the day, I made an amazing friend, and I had one hell of a ride with someone who was as all-in as I was. Not much more that I can say, but thanks for an amazing time in San Diego." Friendship. That is an appropriate choice of words for the relationship between MexicanCow this next member. @fromtheinsidemet Cow through a unofficial but amazing offseason tournament known as the Victory ProAM where they got to work together as GM and AGM. Since that very moment these two have truly built a real friendship that goes beyond this game. Scotty has rejoined forces with Cow now up in the VHL as his AGM in New York. He had some kind words to say about what Cow means to him. "Meeting Cow was one of the best things that could have happened to me in the VHL. I was still a pretty fresh first gen and only knew a few people from my original VHLM LR. I decided to sign up for the Victory Pro-Am tournament. I was lucky enough to get picked as a GM and sure enough, Cow ended up being my AGM. We formed a bond pretty quickly and before I knew it, I was AGMing for him in Yukon. Working under him in Yukon was some of my favourite times in the VHL. He taught me everything there was to know about how to GM in the M. It's been over a year since I first met Cow and we still chat on a daily basis. We have quite the unique friendship, but it's one I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. He was a mentor for me in the VHL community, now I try to mentor him through real life. He may not know where Mount Olympus is, but he's a kind and funny guy with a heart of gold." Lastly, this next one is a special one. These two created such a strong bond from the moment they met TWO YEARS AGO. (Seriously, so F-ing weird! How has it been that long!?) @samxmet MexicanCow right back at the very beginning of her VHL days. I can't even say more without spoiling a lot of what they have gone through together. Here is what Sam had to say. "Cow, where the f*ck do I begin. I guess the beginning would be smart. You were my gm. The one who taught me the league (kinda if we pretend ricer doesn't exist). You made me feel welcomed and wanted. You have supported me on so many of my endeavors within the league and outside of it. You supported me from Day one and I can never thank you enough for that. You dragged my ass back into this league when in reality I had no plan to come back. (Yup you can thank Cow that I'm back) I learned from you that if u annoy someone enough they will do what you ask. There's so so so much more I could say about you but I really don't know how to put it into words. Thank you for all you have done for me whether it's teaching me the league, dealing with my insanity or my breakdowns at 3am. You have been there through it all and I truthfully, could never thank you enough. You are one of the best people I have ever met on this league. Never change who you are. Stop being so tall and can I please come meet your cows. I mean, do I really have to say more about the kind of person this guy is? This is the ultimate tummy sticks article but this guy deserves every last word of it. As you can see he has made an impact on so many members over the last few years in this league. If you ever get the chance to get to know Cow, you'll be very happy you did. He's still a kid to most of us, but has the voice and maturity of a 40 year old man. Alright, that's enough from me! Love ya Buddy, now when do we get to see some COWS!!!!!

Welcome to the S81 Edition of the World Junior Championship! First off, want to thank everyone who applied for the General Managers. We appreciate the time and effort that goes into applying and going through the interview process. No matter the experience everyone is taken into serious consideration and between myself, @rjfrymanand @Squidward2 we feel we have selected an amazing group of members to manage our Nation's teams. For those who did not get a position please do not let this discourage you, there are only so many spots and too many really great applicants which always makes this decision difficult. With all of that being said we would like to congratulate the following: Team Canada Team USA Team Europe Team Asia Team World

Good series Vancouver. Played the best team in the league to a 7 game series. Would have been nice to get to that final but I can’t be too mad at how well our team performed. #WranglersDoNotSuck
