  2. Something is up with the water in Ottawa. The Lynx were predicted to be a front runner this season after their strong draft, but their current record of 22-3 seems very alien, especially to a team that just managed to limp into the playoffs last year. Something definitely seems off, but when you put into contrast Saskatoon's season last year, and the fact that Ottawa isn't even in first place at the moment it seems like this might just be the way of the league, massive swings season to season and low parity. Minnesota is currently leading the way with an extra win over Ottawa, but all the top 5 teams are having stellar seasons before we seem to hit a massive cliff. Philly sitting in 5th with a 17-8-0 record still has a staggering 2 wins for every loss. Past Philly you drop all the way to losing records the rest of the way, so it seems like there is some parity in the league, but it's split into 2 distinct groups of performers - the current top 5, and then the bottom 6. There has been a lot of talk about tweaks to the playoff format to lower the down time between players being knocked out and activity splurges like the draft or the start to the season. Maybe this continued phenomenon could be the catalyst that sparks a change? More teams involved? Less teams involved? separate tournament for non qualifying teams?
  3. 1. Howmany losses do you think we will have at the end of the season? 2 O_O 2. The Chiefs won the superbowl, howmuch do you care? 5/7 3. What do you think the key to Ottawas success is? Really mediocre goaltending and great offense and defense. 4. How do you feel about the recent trade we made? Excited. We got a capped player, this is our year! 5. Are you hyped for WJC, maybe you're in it? I am, it should be a bundle of fun 6. A fight breaks out on the ice, who do you want by your side? Hulk Hogan. With the hulkster I have nothing to fear.

  5. Despite leading the league in wins, Ottawa's goal tending has proven to be mediocre in the other stat categories. Bruden is sitting 6th in overall Save Percentage (5th among starters) and 5th in Goals Against Average (4th among starters). Although he has played in all 14 of Ottawa's games this season, his shots against are among the lowest in the league, so his middling stats have not been exposed as of yet. Ottawa is currently on a roll by their blistering hot offense, and shut down defense, so as long as those numbers are allowed to remain stellar they should not be exposed, however should both of those move more centered they could be in for a hard check in the mirror. As the season goes on hopefully Bruden will be able to improve these numbers, his start last season were decent to very good when he was receiving a ton of shots against, so perhaps the statistics at the moment are low due to a low number of shots against? Time will tell if these anomalies will continue later in the season.
  6. 1. Were going on an amazing streak? When do you think it will end? Only when the playoffs end 2. Who can stop us? We are our own greatest nemesis 3. How had your experience with Ottawa been so far? We've had adversity, drama, the whole 9 years. It's been eventfull. 4. How do you feel about me and Acyd? I think you are both good leadership, and without that we may have imploded 5. Do you have any questions for either of us? What is your favorite pizza topping 6. What's your favorite drink? Gin tonic
  7. 1. Yes, I think so. Give it some OOMPH 2. No, I think the Ottawa region is a good spot for this league, far enough away from Toronto and Mississauga to have its own area 3. Scrubs 4. Christoph Waltz, Django 5. He's going to be a franchise goalie 6. Yes, not for a long time. Yes
  8. Hello, here is the last part: I said Houston was going to target a goalie and 1 or 2 D in the first round, they did just that, grabbing an extremely high TPE winger with their 1oa pick and then adding Goalie, then D Ottawa my prediction was 1f, 1d, 1g. They went a C and Wing in lieu of any d, and then they went after G (yours truly with that last first round pick) San Diego: I thought they would just go straight offense, but with high earner Roque Davis on the board at 6 they could not say no. As of writing he's already capped Minesota waits until the end of round 3 to snag the #2 overall TPE goalie in this draft Hextall. This one was a really good later pick, as they were able to grab 4 other players before a top notch goalie. Overall I think the predictions were pretty accurate. Based on my brief experience last season I have to think that the top end teams this season will be Philly because they didn't have to add much, Houston had a bundle of picks and added some really top end talent, Minnesota because they have a complete team along with a stud goalie after the draft, and Ottawa who picked up an absolute ton of players who should be pretty decent earners. 223 Words
  9. 1. Feels great! Second goalie taken overall, and obviously I'm not a household name yet from the draft stream. Ottawa knows what's up though 2. yup. This one and shl 3. Favorite I think would be reapers. it's unique 4. I know a few of our recent draftees. I was surprised to see their names pop up in the LR 5. Top goalie stats in the VHLM. Simple. 6. hmm.. specifically for snacks - salty chips
  10. For part one, here is the link: Part 1 Ok so last week I went through and looked at what kinds of picks teams had in the upcoming VHLM draft. Since then there has been a flurry of activity, I'll summarize the S70 draft assets: Hou - Min : Houston Recieves Min 1st, Min receives Hou 2nd Ott - Yuk : Ottawa recieves Yuk 4th Yuk - Hou : Houston recieves Yuk 3rd Min - Yuk : Yukon recieves SDM 3rd Phi - Min : Philadelphia recieves Hou 2nd, LVA 4th Phi - Hou : Houston recieves Phi 2nd This leaves teams with the following picks across the first 4 rounds: Saskatoon: 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 Mississauga: 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 Mexico City: 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 Halifax: 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 Philadelphia: 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 San Diego: 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 Yukon: 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 Ottawa: 3 | 2 | 3 | 6 Houston: 3 | 2 | 3 | 0 Minnesota: 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 Las Vegas: 0 | 2 | 2 | 2 Here are the needs for teams: Ottawa only has 3 players carried over from last season, so they will need virtually every position (they have 1 F, 1 D, and 1 G) Any position could be up for grabs, possible 1F, 1D and 1G (or F) in the first round. San Diego has 3 Forwards, 2 D, and a goalie who has 107 TPE and is adding atleast the practice facility every week, so creeping up. If they select a goalie or D I think it would be round 2 at the earliest, but who knows! Philadelphia actually has a pretty full team, perhaps they trade some of their 3rd or 4th round picks? They have 2 goalies, one at 186 TPE, so I don't see them drafting a goalie at all. They have 7 Forwards, and 5 D, so a very full roster already. I think they just take the best player available with their picks and don't worry about position until the 4th round. Yukon only has the 3rd round. They have 5 forwards, 1 D, and 1 goalie, but the goalie has not updated in a while and has low TPE, they are in the market for everything, but they will draft whoever is best with their pick, and will be using the post draft creates to fill out their team. Houston has 3 forwards. They have a ton of picks available, and will probably target a goalie and defense in the first round, maybe 2 defense depending on who is available. Minnesota has currently 4 Defense and 9 Forwards on their roster. If a good goalie is available on their first round, I think they pick that. Really the only gaping position they have open. Las Vegas has 2 Defense 6 forwards, and 1 high tpe goalie. I think they go after a D in their second round and grab a goalie with 3rd or 4th round picks. Enough of this, now let's look forward to both drafts occurring tomorrow!

  13. Simulation Hockey League. Glad to be on your Fictional team, together we can win a game!
  14. Looking forward to the S70 VHLM draft I wanted to look at upcoming picks within the top 4 rounds (picked an arbitrary number, felt like within the top 4 likely gives a chance for a player, and I'm not sure how deep the drafts usually go either). First of all none of the top 4 teams in regular season standing finish have any picks within the top 4 rounds this draft. They are going to have to rely on building through free agency and their current roster, and maybe a gem or 2 can slip down to them. This is Saskatoon, Mississauga, Mexico City, and Halifax. Out of the remaining 7 teams, Philadelphia has their own pick in each of the first 4 rounds, Yukon only has a 3rd and 4th round, and Vegas has 2 second round picks. San Diego has 3 firsts, 2 seconds, a third, and a fourth. Houston has 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and 2 thirds. Minnesota has 2 firsts, 2 seconds, 3 thirds, and 3 fourths. And rounding out the upcoming draft picks is Ottawa with 3 firsts, 2 seconds, 3 thirds, and a whopping 5 fourths. Each of these teams is going to be building a lot through this draft. Every first and second round pick is between Philadelphia, San Diego, Ottawa, Houston, Minnesota, and Las Vegas, half the teams don't have a first or second! Stay tuned for the next article, where we will be looking into teams needs.
  15. 1. I have been playing in another simulation league for the last 6 months or so and I've been enjoying it. So I hit up the google to see what else was out there 2. I really like Prague, DC, and Malmo's logo's 3. For the VHLM team that selects me, they will get an active goalie, a good presence on team discord, and I can personally guarantee at least 1 win 4. Actually I haven't talked to any teams specifically about the draft. I played with Ottawa for the end of last season and playoffs, and it was an awesome experience. I think realistically I'll be the second or third goalie off the board this season, so I think it all depends where teams need goalies. I think realistically I could go anywhere between the late 1st round to the early 4th. Spot doesn't matter for me though, I just want to hit the ice and get training with my new team 5. I haven't had nearly as many goals as I expected. I need to work on shooting the puck a lot more. 6. Ron Hextall. I want to be able to change the position like he did. Thank you very much for the questions!
  16. The VHL is lucky he's a better hockey player than chef!
  17. Hello, my player, Joakim, has informed me that he wishes to hold a press conference for any teams who are interested in learning a bit more about him pre draft.
