Yeah I was just acknowledging that sometimes a veteran can get hired, as Bana and Jubo(?) are other examples to come to mind. Plus I saw that there was a shortage of candidates this season. But otherwise if the veteran precedent didn't exist and there were first-gen candidates, I think you getting hired by Eno would perfectly fit under "friends hiring friends" or at least "Eno carries Nyko in yet another 'League game'"

I think this idea is fine for the lottery tournament, not much so for the playoffs. Being able to call up your 350-400 capped players right before playoffs seems like working around cap loopholes to avoid running bots when the games matter most. For example Warsaw could have used this proposal to call up a defensemen to avoid running with WAR-D1, even though that bot seems to have the sim abilities of a HoFer. Teams could continue to adopt that sort of strategy and add more expensive players at the trade off of an incomplete roster only to call up the players they would have called up prior to the season but now before the postseason. EX. Moscow could have just not traded Idaho before this season and then called up Sogaard right before playoffs and we'd have a much higher TPA roster. For the lotto tournament though where it's mostly for fun and the most at stake is a 5% shift in lotto odds, I think it'd be nice to call up prospects just for the experience. Maybe we allow lotto prospects that are called up to claim 1 experience like VHL players receive in the offseason. A miniscule perk (if you care about EX) for prospects on teams that are rebuilding/retooling.

I'm pretty surprised you've listed AGM and JST on there, since they're both definitely downgrades from the work you do as an M GM, and even overlap with the job duties there. The people hired for JST are also completely new to GM roles in general, as are the WJC GM's typically with maybe one exception (see Nyko this season). The hirings for player store and updaters were all people without a job, so by your own logic of having an M GM job, that should be a good thing. VHLE will likely have openings this offseason since there are VHL spots to fill, so you've got chances in both those leagues. So yeah in general it doesn't quite seem like there's favoritism going on in hirings for the most part. If you feel strongly about being passed over, I'd generally advise asking for feedback if/when you don't get hired for a role. Will give you proper insight instead of having to speculate that nepotism may be at hand, and goes further to show commitment to the role at hand.

Which job? If you're referring to VHL GM (everything that has to do with prospects is sort of limited to the three leagues GM's and VSN scouting), it's a pretty competitive position and good candidates get rejected for quite a while. But yeah mainly just curious which job you're referring to if it's not VHL GM.

Best backup a team could ever dream of

It's been a pleasure GM'ing Moscow over the past 8 seasons. I've witnessed a full generation play out with the retirement of the S77 class, with 2 Victory Cups, 4 European Conference Championships, 2 GMotY's and a ton of individual Moscow player awards over that timespan. I'd like to officially announce that....I cannot lose a 5th final in a row. Huzzah! Get jebaited, I'm not resigning. Jokes aside, it sucks to not be in the finals since the goal is always to win the championship. But when you put everything into perspective, 4 finals appearances in a row across two distinct eras of the VHL while amassing all those team and indivual accolades flowing to Moscow is quite impressive and I am satisfied with it. I'd like to think we have a few HOF locks coming out of this core, with a few others that could flit with the ballot. Younger players still have the chance to shape their future along with the future of the organization. Still have plenty of draft capital and some nice prospects in the pipeline. Exciting stuff for sure. For now, we will celebrate no longer picking at 15th overall, but at 14th instead. We will celebrate not setting a league record for consecutive finals losses. We will celebrate the retirement of a truly amazing member and player, and then we will look towards the future to see how we can build a championship-winning roster.

I'm really glad we were able to have you on the team, and it's even more awesome to hear that your interest in the league has been rejuvenated! Hlo was a fantastic player and you were great to have around the LR as well. Wishing you the best with your recreate and I'll see if I can draft you this time, or maybe we'll have to settle for a late career move again .

This was.....one sentence...

Honestly the interview part means more than you think. GM's always talk about drafting active people who earn well, but everyone in the league can't be that way. It's a pretty time-intensive sim league lifestyle. It generally just comes down to personal comfort and for me, going with my gut. For example all I knew of @Bulduray_1 before S81 was that he was a quiet guy who earned decently and shared a Russian background with his player. Usually I'd pass over those folks since we're always on a "draft the most active people" train or something. It was only after we had a draft chat that I was like "Alright, we should definitely get him if we can" because he responded well and meshed with what we were trying to do. Now he's one of the most underrated centers in the league and pops into the LR here and there and has grown into an M GM job as well. There isn't really a set thing for me that I look for, but holistically reviewing a prospect and having a chat with them can just make you feel like they're the one.

I'm using a word counter to hit 150 words on the dot for this piece, as it's nearly bedtime. Still jetlagged but that just means I can wake up at like 6 AM to go have a nice breakfast somewhere before everyone else wakes up. Moscow finished the season strong, toppling the franchise's single season points record with the final win of the season over Vancouver. It's pretty nuts to see how the team is not only still kicking with so many core members traded, but really thriving since all the new acquisitions have stepped up and filled massive shoes. Henri le Massif broke the mold of a welfare/pension player and scored 40 goals (congrats on the VHL-personal best Garsh), Hard Markinson tied for most points from a defender, Tomas Sogaard led rookies with 72 points and Papa Emeritus simply goalie gapped the rest of the league. Playoff hype!

The cap is just applied TPE, earning isn't impacted at all. In addition, if a player is over 200 TPE by the cutoff (in offseason), they aren't eligible for the M anyways. They go straight to the E where the applied cap is 400. So no one is ever limited in earning, and no one should ever stop earning either. There will always be a spot for you.

Is "real competition" in CGY not being able to pick up more than 6 points from any team not called NYA, VAN, LDN OR LAS? If so, I'm happy to play in the EU while beating teams from both conferences that will actually make the playoffs.
