  4. ON THE RISE -- Is Mathias' stock on the up? One week removed from announcing his intentions to join the VHL ranks in some capacity, Maxwell Mathias wound up finding himself in another radio interview. Rumor has began to circulate that Maxwell's stock was on the rise, and after some local play, Maxwell seemingly captured a few eyes. It's been said that his attention to detail, and defensive mannerisms stuck out in recent memory. In doing so, this would cause him to climb up many mock boards. Going from a bottom of the barrel talent, to rounding out into the top 25. It's a modest climb, but Mathias opened up on a local outlet, sharing his thoughts. "It isn't something that just came out of nowhere. I wasn't going to just sit by and watch the other guys in my class try to outperform me. I had to grab the opportunity by the hand and forcefully thrust myself up those rankings. It's no secret that I have a cousin in the SBA. People forget that we're from the same branch, and I have just as much athleticism as he does. When people look back at me, I wasn't even able to make a high school football team, or basketball for that matter. I wasn't skilled enough to those coaches. That crap left a very sour taste in my mouth. I want to prove those people wrong. So when I look back and I see that I'm not only climbing the rankings, but I'm getting attention too -- It's awesome. I won't mention names but I've already received several draft letters, and communicated with a few GMs around the league too. It's surreal. It's all coming together nicely. I just have to keep doing what I've been doing. I just have to thrive, and get better with each passing day. This isn't going to happen over night, but I can assure you that I'm going to be one of the best players to come out of this class. I guarantee it!" It was a very short message, but it was a direct one. Maxwell knew his potential, and he was aware of such. He wasn't going to accomplish his goals over night, but he had the intentions of achieving each, and everyone of them. 373 words.
  5. 1.) I'll do one for each: VHL -- I'll have to go with my gut, and go with Malmo. Something about it just pops, and I just overall dig it. VHLE -- Istanbul probably has the best look from the VHLE teams, at least in my eyes. VHLM -- It's really a toss up between Saskatoon, Ottawa, and San Diego for me. I just really like the branding on all three. I can't choose between those three. I dare say that the VHLM has the best logos in the entire league. 2.) I haven't had the chance to play formally yet. I do think if given the right chance, and proper help to work on a build -- I'll accomplish what I have in mind. 3.) I'm a huge fan of Tacos. I could probably eat those for breakfast, lunch, lunch #2, dinner, dinner #2, late night snack, etc. You get the drift. Tacos are life. Questions: 1.) Did you mold your player after a current or past NHL/VHL player? If so, whom? 2.) What is one thing you would like to improve upon as a player? 3.) Last but not least, who is a member on this forum that you've looked up too?
  6. I usually say drink. But of the two, I'd say soda.
  7. Welcome to the VHL! If you need help of any kind, I can try my best to be of assistance! We've got a great group of people here who would be more than happy to help!
  8. A little late to the party, but congrats to all those who were selected!
  9. Welcome to the league! If you need any help, I'll do my best!
  10. Welcome back! If you need help of any kind, I'll do my best to help!
  11. THE PROLOGUE -- The Start of something special. Maxwell Mathias was born in a fairly common household in Louisville, Kentucky. As a child, Maxwell identified with sports at a young age. It was his collective love for Football, and Basketball alike that drew Maxwell into trying out for his local school teams. Unfortunately for Maxwell, it wasn't well received -- He was left without a passion after failing to land on either team. After failing, Maxwell would watch his cousin, Kai excel as he would flourish in his high school, before ultimately going Tuscon to play college ball. Kai would then be drafted, and subsequently forgetting about his younger cousin. This left a sour taste in Maxwell's mouth due to not only his jealousy, but his desires to succeed as well. It wasn't until his junior year of high school that Maxwell would see an opportunity before his eyes. Oddly enough, it didn't come in the form of basketball or football, but instead Hockey. At first, Maxwell wasn't interested in such a thing. After all, he was just a kid from Kentucky. There were only a few things that really took precedent in his home state. Those being bourbon, horse racing, basketball, and football. All four of which had no interest in Maxwell, nor did Maxwell have a desire after failing once before. However, shifting back to hockey -- Maxwell found a unique calling card, realizing he had a natural gift of defending. Granted he wasn't even on a high school team, let alone a professional hockey team. It didn't stop him from at least trying to hone his craft. At every turn, Maxwell would prepare himself for competition. He had a desire to best his foes. To stand at the top of the crop. After following through with his newfound passion, Maxwell has decided to continue his love for hockey. Pursuing a shot at the VHL. He hasn't had much luck going before him, but deep down -- Maxwell knew what he brought to the table. He was more than understanding of the circumstances needed in order for him to succeed. He couldn't fail again. For him, this was ultimately his final chance. Maxwell didn't have a back plan. Not a major in mind. Maxwell was at the point of no return. You see, for this Kentucky native -- Maxwell longed for a chance to support himself, and his family. Feet don't fail him now. Maxwell looks forward to the draft process, and has mentally prepared himself for where this next chapter could take him. 419 words.
  12. 1. I think Mathias would suit up in something silly. Like a Banana, or a hot dog. 2. My player has currently not played anywhere. New blood. I will say this, I don't think I'd be unhappy to play anywhere if given a chance. I think they're all pretty rad. 3. Purely off looks alone, and not having knowledge whatsoever before hand -- I dig the Marlins logo. But I'm also big on Seattle's bear. I don't know what it is, but I'm a sucker for a bear logo. Questions: 1.) Who would you consider a rival for your player? 2.) What player past or present would you say deserves more attention? 3.) If you could only play for one team for your entire career, where would it be?
  13. It's been a rather eventful 24 hours for Maxwell Mathias. Mathias coveted some attention due to his family name. Maxwell Mathias, cousin to SBA player; Kai Mathias recently opened up for a radio interview for a local syndicate news station. Attached below was the first of his words: "My cousin plays professionally in Milwaukee. He's got this whole demeanor and swag to him. We always discussed, and it was almost a daily thing where Kai would try to get me to follow in his footsteps. He always wanted me to play basketball, but I never really got into it. I just was never athletically gifted enough to do the basketball things. When I came out and told him that I was interested in Hockey, you could only imagine the expression across his face. We're talking about a guy who's almost 7 feet tall, just shaking in his boots. It was actually a little funny to look back on." When discussing his cousin, it didn't take long for Maxwell to change the subject onto his own goals. Below is a summary of his claims: "We can sit here and discuss Kai all day, I get it -- He's proven himself, whereas I haven't really done that yet. I have a little experience here and there, and that's just it -- I'm fairly inexperienced. I'm fairly new to the whole game of hockey. When I sit here and I talk to people, they're skeptical. Rightfully so, to be honest. I'm coming here to be one of the best. I'm going to fight for everything, because truth be told? I've set these goals for myself, and I want to achieve all of them. I want to change the landscape of this sport. To keep a long story short, I want to go down in history as one of the best to ever do it. " It was a rather short back and forth with Mathias, but one that made his feelings known. He had a common goal in mind, and if we were willing to bet -- Kai isn't going to stop until he accomplishes his goals.
  14. Hello, my name is Underclass_Hero, but you can call me Sean. I'm interested in this position and bring a lot to the table. While not experienced with the VHL, I have past and current experience in the SBA/EFL as the following: 3x HC tenures (Fort Lauderdale, Honolulu, and currently Beaumont.) -- Reached conference finals (Honolulu) -- Championship game. (Fort Lauderdale) -- Head Coach of The Year (Fort Lauderdale) -- Was the reason for a rule change in the SBA due to landing a high influx of recruits. (Honolulu) 2x GM tenures (Colorado, and currently Seattle) -- Never had below a .500 win season in Seattle 1x EFL AD (Savage City Wraiths) I mention this as you'll get someone who's dedicated, and willing to learn. I bring a lot to the table to provide an enjoyable time. Since joining the affiliates, I have grown with each passing season. I bring a lot of dedication to the table, but also someone who is constantly active in LRS. I thrive on creating atmospheres that can gel with the unit as a whole. I look forward to creating an enjoyable landscape for those involved, be it my squad, or elsewhere. All in all, I'm confident, but also adapt in learning in anyway possible. If you have any questions or concerns, you can message me on the forum, or my discord at Underclass#2183. Thank you for your consideration, and have an amazing day.
