In Game 345 of the Season 85 VHL Season, the Riga Reign played host to HC Davos Dynamo in a European Conference tilt. HC Davos is looking to break into the EU title race, while Riga is in a rebuilding state after many seasons of contention. This game started out with an action-packed 1st period, where we see underdogs Riga scoring first with an absolute snipe by Phoebe Bridgers. They would follow up quickly, just 3 minutes later, with a powerplay tally by Julia Waffles. Davos was not down and out however, after Jake Thunder scored his league-leading 16th goal by a defenseman. 2-1 Riga. Both teams would then trade goals late in the first period, with tallies from Tyler Reinhart and David Tavau respectively. At the end of the first period, shots are 14-13 in favour of Davos, however the score is 3-2 to the Reign. Not much action in the second period to report on, with the exception of Tobias Reinhart saving 24/24 Davos shots, keeping Riga ahead 3-2 after two. The third period was looking like much of the same, just defensive hockey from Riga, until Daniel Clarke takes a feed from William Groves, and gets in behind the Davos defence and backhands one past David Davis to put Riga up 4-2 on their divisional opponents. Davos once again would claw back, with 3 minutes left in the game, Vinny Detroit scores a Michigan goal and celebrates like he just won the Continental Cup, forgetting his team is still down 1. There would be no more action the rest of the game, barring a few more saves from Toby Reinhart. Davos lose 4-3, final. They give up important points in the race for the top of EU. GGEZ. New York Americans Press Conference Questions
dlamb replied to STZ's topic in Team Press Conferences
1). Tis the beginning of halloween season - what was the last costume you wore? I think last season I was a steak. I'm not a big costume guy, so I just go with whatever I see first unless my girlfriend tells me otherwise. 2). Do you think New York will buy or sell this trade deadline? Good question, actually. With their current position, it makes more sense to sell, but with teams so hard pressed against the cap, they might as well buy. 3). Should there be a cap on how many players come from a specific country in the VHL? No? I'm not sure if I understand the question, really. Just like irl hockey, we all want it to be a worldwide sport, so the more countries, the better. If everyone wants to be from Canada, why stop them? 4). Why don't we wait for the new season's portal to come out before doing a VHFL draft? Because the new index is always posted so late. There would be no point in VHFL if we were drafting teams 25 games into the season. 5). If water wasn't blue, which color would you want it to be? Green, I guess. The least off-putting. Imagine red or brown water? Shudder 6). Has @JardyB10 mentioned you in any of his nodesodes this season? WHY NOT Not this season, just in the offseason. I think he's mad that I went with Dil over himself in Free Agent Frenzy. Or, I just don't do anything noteworthy. Probably that. -
no ping, rude. I'll listen anyways.

1. We are leading our conference and tied point-wise for 1st in the league. How is your player doing according to preseason expectations? Vasile is actually struggling, but I'm not too fussed as long as we stay in the W column. I just have to apologize to all my VHFL owners, and I'm a little mad I'm not in the Boulet conversation. 2. Almost everyone on the team have 20+ points, who has been the most surprising for the team so far? Nobody too surprising, I knew we had a ton of skill up and down our lineup. But, I will shout out Johnny Xavier for having a great breakout campaign. Also happy for Marner and Kiss getting back to their PPG+ pace. 3. Who has been most disappointing for the team so far? I'd go with Vasile for sure. But as I said before, we're winning, and that's all that matters. 4. What is one thing we could do to improve our team? With what the league has set the cap to, there's not much (any) room to improve. We're all satisfied with how we're playing anyways, so I don't think we'd be considering changes even if we could. 5. When we're playing at home, do you eat dinner out or at home with family? Most of my family is back home in Romania, so I just eat out. I haven't signed a long-term deal, so i haven't moved them up here to Poland yet. 6. Does your player have their own family? If so, describe their immediate family. In hockey, I have a distant relation to VHL Hall-of-Famer Dakota Lamb. Out of hockey I just have my girlfriend, dog, and cat.

1. How did we fare after a first week of hockey in S85? Loving how the team is playing at the minute. Absolutely no complaints from me, let's just keep it up. 2. It's Pizza Day, what kind of pizza is your player getting? Pepperoni and Cheese. We can fuck around debating what else is good or not, but I'm just a fan of the classic. 3. A VHL season is a very stressful period of time, how does your player clear their head and relieve stress? When Vasile is stressed he tends to spend time to himself, whether that be at the gym, or doing his hobbies, such as rollerblading or building legos. 4. When the team is out on a road trip, what do you order for the team during dinner? Whatever the rookies decide. I've done my time, it's their turn to buy. 5. Road trip song in the team bus and plane? Of course there's a whole playlist, but if I'm choosing one: 6. NHL training camp and preseason HYPE, what are you looking forward to the most in the upcoming training camp/preseason in the NHL? I'm going to be going to a bunch of games at the Prospects Challenge tournament in Buffalo. Haven't been since pre-COVID, so that'll be fun. I'm also intrigued to see if Fabian Lysell makes the Bruins or not.

Some players can make their HOF case in 1 single season, so I wouldn't absolutely count yourself out. I do agree, it gets tough near the end, but you have to re-evaluate your goals; you won a cup, but you still have time to climb the all-time points and TPE leaderboard, franchise records, etc. Making a new player is obviously a lot of fun, but once they get to season 2 or 3, is it really that different from 7 or 8? In contrast though, if you have accomplished all your goals for your 1st-gen player, then maybe it's not worth it. It's all in the eye of the beholder in the end. No matter how it happens, I hope you get back to max earning + forum content!

Hello Preds fans! GM Dakota Lamb here, proud to announce the team's captains for the upcoming season. Fresh off a Continental Cup victory, the roster remains mostly the same, just with the unfortunate cap casualty of former team Captain Bogdan Trunov and 2nd line centre Omi Aberg. His absence means we have an opening for team captain, an absence which will be filled by the team's longest-serving member. Expectations in Warsaw have never been higher, and the pressure is there from players, fans, and media to repeat and defend our title until the end. I'm confident we can do just that with this roster, with the following players leading us back to the promised land. Without further ado, your S85 Warsaw Predators Captains! Alternate 1: Tavish DeGroot @rory A first-time team captain, DeGroot established career highs in Season 84 in a number of categories, culminating in a monster playoff run for a two-way defenceman. They are one of the most outspoken members in the Predators locker room, and is rightly respected as one of the main leaders. An easy choice to fill the "A" gap left by our team's new captain. Alternate 2: Brian Payne @Scurvy A returning Alternate Captain, Brian Payne has blossomed into one of the VHL's premier defensive defenseman, as proven by his 2nd-place finish in Jake Wylde Trophy voting in Season 84. We expect much of the same in Season 85. His leadership on and off the ice is invaluable to the entirety of Warsaw. And presenting... the 4th Captain in Warsaw Predators Franchise history: Zach Kisslinger II @Kisslinger As previously stated, Kisslinger II is Warsaw's longest-serving player, as well as the team's longest serving Captain. Had a rough go of it last regular season, but absolutely showed out in the playoffs (14+15=29) en route to a Continental Cup. He looks to improve, if that's even possible, in Season 85 with the C on his chest, whilst also switching to play Centre for the first time in his professional career. Always upbeat and encouraging to the team, no doubt in my mind that he'll make a great captain. Congrats to all 3! LFGW! CHODŹMY WARSZAWO CHODŹMY
