S70 Draft Profiles - Part 5: New & Improved!
Beketov replied to Patrik Tallinder's topic in VHL.com Articles
Yeah, Louth and Washington were made before we made the announcement removing GM players as a thing so they were grandfathered into the old system. @diamond_ace’s player received the same treatment. Glade Jr. is the first of the batch of players created by GM’s to not fall under the GM player rule and thus he enters the draft. Mind you @ShawnGlade can declare prior to the draft and pay a first round pick to receive his player straight away still. -

Welcome to the VHL, Pppoopoo! We're happy to have you. You should have received a PM with some more detailed information, but to get started quickly you will want to head over to the "How to Create a Player" topic. That topic will offer you detailed information about how to use the VHL Portal to create your player and get you started. We also highly recommend joining the VHL Discord where there is a channel dedicated to helping new members with any questions that they may have about the league or improving their player. Once your player is made VHLM General Managers will be in touch with you about joining their teams. In the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions you have here or in your create-a-player thread. We're happy to have you in the community and we hope you stick around!

See my edit. I’m just an idiot and read it wrong. Also question one is done in a bit tricky fashion if you were using the same source as me but it’s doable.
-
Unless the rookies list in the S20 index is wrong the right answer is not on the list. Edit: I’m an idiot and read points, not assists.
-
do you mean there is some craziness or there is a right answer?
-
Unless there’s some craziness going on none of the answers are correct for number 2???

Was already following twitter and FB. Instagram isn’t loading properly for me but I think I follow that as well.

Because @GustavMattias bumped it to make himself feel better

Our one loss also came before the trades where we bolstered ourselves even further. We currently have 9 players above 200 TPE and a goal differential that is honestly mind-boggling. So yes, STHS will probably screw us but this is very possible the best set up VHLM team in history right now.

I definitely will check because there might be a black list, I just don’t remember one. -
Exclude Welfare from the Most Recent Topic section
Beketov replied to Berocka's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
I can look into it. I believe it’s possible to pick specific forums but I don’t think it’s possible to black list others. Technically we could add every single OTHER forum but that would be quite a mess to deal with. -
Worst case do something without permission and send it to someone who has permission to post. There are certain sections that contain most of the league history so letting a lot of people edit them could be detrimental; it’s nothing personal. If that’s what you want to do then have at it, no one is stopping you. Most if the league spreadsheets on various topics can be found Here, Here, or Here but there are a few others kicking around. Topics can be basically anything, for example I was curious what the longest shutout streak in league history was so I spent a few hours putting this together. When in doubt our resident historian @Victor knows basically everything that has been made before so just ask him if you’re worried something has been done. And I didn’t really mean formal jobs, there’s no thread for formal jobs of the sort. I just meant you can kinda come up with stuff that interests you to help improve the league and see what sticks. For example I used to make themes back when skinning was easier to manage. Or more recently @DilIsPickle has taken to helping with portal coding or the whole start of the VSN which wasn’t formally approved at all, people just started by having fun with it. Jobs don’t always have to be posted as official things. Basically the league is what you make of it. If you want to invest more time then invest more time. By all means I don’t think you need a second player to invest yourself in the league.

Or just offer your time to the league tbh. There’s always interesting spreadsheets and stuff to make or jobs to get done. Back when we had to manually do everything it was rare for members to get paid for anything. If you enjoy the league then work to make it better. You shouldn’t need TPE compensation for that.
-
Also this. Donations help us run the site and are super important but the league is ultimately free to play and will remain that way. If we start adding huge bonuses to donating then we are telling members that if they can’t pay they shouldn’t bother being here which isn’t true. As it stands you gain a bonus but nothing more. I haven’t donated in 3 or 4 players and I’ve been quite fine.
-
People don’t have to donate $20, you can donate whatever you want. The incentives exist in $5 increments up to $20 but by no means are they saying you have to do anything. The only reason most do $20 is because it offers an extra incentive over the lower increments but it’s not a requirement by any means. And no, we have no intention of bringing back PP2, at least I don’t and I know @Will and others agree with me. It did nothing but artificially inflate our player numbers (which we don’t need with plenty of players to fill rosters) and burn out our members.

C | 6' 3" | 190 lb. | Age: 18 | It's not uncommon for young men growing up in Finland to play hockey. It's not uncommon either that many of them want to play at a professional level. Mikko Lahtinen is no exception. At the age of 5 he picked up his first hockey stick and was off the the races from there. A natural talent on skates Mikko quickly learned that he was capable of greatness, blowing through the competition in his minor hockey days and leaving opposing goalies scratching their heads, or worse, crying in the younger years, and wondering how he managed to get the puck past them. Going pro was the only career path Mikko ever had, the decision was simply where to go? The NHL and the KHL were the obvious choices of course. The two largest leagues in the world house the best of the best and he had no doubts he could make an NHL, or at the very least a KHL, team. To most young men this would have been a dream come true but not so for Mikko Lahtinen. When he was 15, well on his way to a pro career and ready to start being scouted to the NHL, the Helsinki Titans of the VHL signed a future legend: Matt Thompson. The Titans were, of course, well known to Mikko, he grew up only an hour outside of Helsinki and watched them growing up. However the VHL had never peaked his interest as a destination until he saw Thompson don the uniform. The future VHL Hall of Famer immediately brought a cup to Helsinki and with it the hearts of many. On the day of the Season 66 Continental Cup parade Mikko made his decision, he was going to the VHL. It took 3 years of watching and waiting before he became eligible but no one was going to stop him. The first step in following in Thomson's footsteps was to get a legendary VHL agent and Mikko did exactly that; signing with the same agency as a matter of fact: the Beketov agency. One of the oldest agencies in the league, Beketov was thrilled to sign Lahtinen on and began immediately spreading his name around the minor league while their star, Thompson, finished up his farewell tour in Malmo. Mikko would choose the Mississauga Hounds to begin his VHL career. The flight out took nearly 12 hours but he was on his way to the VHL, that's all that mattered. Landing in Mississauga Mikko was immediately put to work and put up respectable numbers in his 27 regular season games: 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points. Sadly the playoffs were a different story with the Hounds being ultimately eliminated in 5 games which Mikko only scoring 2 points. It was never going to be a long tenure with the Hounds though. With the VHLM draft upcoming and scouts swooping around Mikko fully expected to get drafted in one of the top three spots, all owned by the Saskatoon Wild whom everyone expected to dominate in Season 69. Ultimately it was not to be. Mikko watched the first three picks come and go without his name being called. Las Vegas greedily snatched their shot at the young man of course, picking him up 4th overall. Mikko could not blame Vegas of course but they were ultimately a very rundown team going into season 69 with low expectations. He had 1 poor playoff showing already, and did not care for the idea of missing them completely. Low and behold, however, fate intervened. As Mikko was boarding the plane that would take him to Vegas he received a very quick email from the Wild's General Manager. "If you want to come to Saskatoon we'd love to have you and I think I can make a deal." That deal wound up being made shortly after and the rest could go down in VHLM history. Since joining the Wild they have not lost. As of writing this Mikko sits with 42 points in 26 games and the Wild have won 24 straight and have only lost a single game on the season. Will that streak come to an end? Almost certainly but the Wild are making a case for potentially being the best VHLM team in history and a young man from Finland who wants to be the next Matt Thompson is right in the middle of it.
