  1. I figured we could take Riga but Calgary was a completely different beast.
  2. Well then, I was under the impression you had tried the ridiculous strategies we had suggested, I was wrong. Either way, makes no real difference. We weren’t exactly going in with high expectations haha
  3. That’s actually surprising, I figured you’d need to turn up the defense. We were running 0-0-5 the entire time to try and overwhelm you since we knew that you’d destroy us if we tried to play defensively. Worked for a bit but you must have found some chemistry that worked. Good Luck in the final, you deserve it far more than we would have.
  4. Not sure if Bush changed Calgary’s strategy or STHS just decided to be nice to him but this went exactly as I expected. Once Calgary started playing more defensively we didn’t stand a chance. Either way the better team won, was a fun run while it lasted. Will be interesting to see if anyone can pass me in playoff points haha.
  5. Mine was in fact too simple I will say haha. Holik is very close though since I’ve always preferred goalies and he was by far my best one. If Thompson keeps up his pace from this season he may very well pass Beketov though. Mind you I doubt I’ll ever change my account name again. It’s been far too long with this now and people know it so I think it’s gonna stick even if a better player does come along. For now my only HoF player and the one with the award name does make the most sense.
  6. Obv Joke’s on you, I took the pennies and ran. It was Will you needed to bribe
  7. Welcome to the VHL, Radio! We're happy to have you. You should have received a PM with some more detailed information, but to get started quickly you will want to head over to the "How to Create a Player" topic. That topic will offer you detailed information about how to use the VHL Portal to create your player and get you started. We also highly recommend joining the VHL Discord where there is a channel dedicated to helping new members with any questions that they may have about the league or improving their player. Once your player is made VHLM General Managers will be in touch with you about joining their teams. In the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions you have here or in your create-a-player thread. We're happy to have you in the community and we hope you stick around!
  8. If you were nearly as dominant over us as you think you are, it would certainly take more than 1 re-sim to get us wins; it would take several. Combine that with trying to keep the results of the other series not tampered with and you’d have plenty of time wasted. Like Bana said, by all means you should be winning this and absolutely no one on Seattle is expecting to take it. We were expecting to get swept. However we learned from how your regular season went and decided to play to our strengths, clearly it’s working. It probably shouldn’t be but STHS is weird sometimes. People have been claiming “rigged” for ages but there’s never been any proof because the fact is that no commish would willingly put the entire league at risk just to win a season. I get that you’re looking at a team with both commishes that you should be stomping and seeing a tied series so your brain goes straight to we’re cheating but seriously, a continental cup isn’t worth tanking the entire league over. No one has rigged anything, the engine is just doing what it does best; being random AF.
  9. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure our settings are such that endurance isn’t taken into consideration.
  10. There’s no way to restrict who can use the feature. However so long as people don’t abuse it by tagging the member group often or something it will be fine and actually probably fix that issue. Most stuff like that is just based on old mass tags people had lying around that we’re accurate.
  11. That's with the scoring slider at minimum based on our old tests. Hopefully I can figure something out in new ones but, as @Will said, the sliders were given less of an effect compared to the attributes.
  12. Gaffer Tape It's a ridiculously strong tape that film sets and theatres use. Mostly for securing cables to the floor and such.
  13. It's not a decrease in player performance (aside from goalies) it's a major increase. So there's no adapting, there's just a massive increase in scoring with goalies all having like 3 GAA.
  14. I feel like I knew that but forgot when writing this. I believe we have talked about it before and you have tested it quite exhaustively but it would be interesting to at least have the numbers for everyone to see and easily laid out. I do recall scoring being insanely high even with the slider being placed at absolute minimum for scoring. A fully laid out test would at least give us a starting point to decide if the features are worth having to likely completely re-work how high are attributes can easily become right now. I doubt the new scale will make a huge difference because it helps a bit in this case but not mostly just made up for the increase in weekly TPE.
  15. Ah, yes, of course. If @Will is cool with me trying I could probably run a test season or 2 based on current setup and obviously just not save the files to dropbox so nothing gets over-written.
  16. I'm completely blanking on what those are.
  17. Based on my test you don't get notified from doing it to yourself. So far the sake of testing @VHLM GM
  18. Yes and no. You can't sim 2 engines at the same time but you can open the same database into both engines. It would involve doubling the workload though as we would have to sim literally everything twice. What would be doable though, and much faster, is doing a straight comparison in one go. So instead of simming an entire season twice over the course of the full season, we could run a test season using V1 and a test sim using V3. Difference between this and the full test would be that lines and such would be the same the entire season but for the sake of comparison that's fine because they're both the same which is what matters. It would also be very clear that these results are purely testing and have no bearing on the actual league. Chances are we wouldn't upload individual games just to make that very clear but the stats would still be present.
  19. Just a minor announcement here. As some of you may have noticed, yesterday we added a new feature to the site, the ability to mention an entire group in one go. This should help alleviate some of the giant tag copies people have kicking around because one can now simply mention an entire group. For example, if you wanted Will or I to see something you could easily do that by mentioning @Commissioner which will tag both of us in one shot. Hopefully we can get some groups set up for some specific use cases like VHLM players so @Tagger can easily mention new guys or stuff of the sort but so far that is not done. What was done was a bit of a clean up of our member groups so that, for example, you don't bug Sterling and Victor every time you're trying to mention myself and Will. I did what I could to remember who should have what permissions but if you happened to have lost something you need access to please let me know ASAP and I'll get it up and running for you again.
  20. After a week off because I didn't need the TPE (I don't remember how exactly) I'm back again bitches! This week in my saga of complaining about things I turn away from what we used to have and more towards "why the fuck have we never done anything about this". It also kinda ties into my last topic about diversity being non-existent. So let's dive in shall we? For those we don't know, we still use V1 of STHS. On first glance this seems probably fine until you realize that V3 is the most current version of the engine. Now I don't know for sure what has changed in the subsequent versions aside from the fact that I know V2 added a bunch of extra stats; specifically stats that relate to defensive play much better than hits and shots blocked do. I'm also guessing that the newer versions make shit way less random, especially in the playoffs, but that is a guess. Now, this isn't a licensing thing. In fact there's only 1 version of the actual program that can be downloaded which is V3. You simply tell it what engine you want to use, in our case V1. So we could literally swap this at any time but we haven't. We've tested it before and found that, if I recall correctly, goalies get completely and utterly fucked or become completely dominant, I don't remember which one. Point is scoring was a problem, mostly because we have stats in the high 90's for the most part. We messed with the sliders but couldn't get them to a normal level. So, what does this all mean? Honestly nothing but it's the topic I came up with given how random the playoffs are seeming to be with Seattle currently tied with Calgary which makes no sense at all. I don't know if the new engine would change this but maybe it's time to test it out again? It would be interesting to see at the very least and I think it's likely worth testing again. The league can grow as much as we want on the board and the portal and what-not but if we remain on the same engine forever our back-end ultimately will never change and that could be a problem. So, thoughts? Should we try it again (in testing purposes only, at most during like a WC, never a full season) or should we just accept that these are the stats we have and this is how our engine works? Weigh in now.
  21. Well you’re really putting the league in a great position then. Basically saying we rig it for you or you’ll complain that we did it for us. Rigging a series we’re fully expecting to lose really isn’t worth the effort required, trust me. It’s not like we can just click a button that says “make this team win”. @Will has better things to do with his time than sim for 3 hours to make sure that Seattle gets 1 win. If he were doing so I highly doubt Sterling would have over a 4 GAA. You have to consider that TPE hasn’t meant that much all season and you’re going up against 2/3 of the league’s top scorers. It’s not like you guys can’t score, you are, we’re just scoring more which is exactly in line with what the regular season told us was possible. I still fully expect to lose, I’m just really enjoying that we’re making it close. On paper you should destroy us instantly but on paper doesn’t tend to work out in the VHL playoffs.
  22. Welcome to what I call the Holik Hell. Great in the regular season, crap in the playoffs.
  23. A Thompson and Shephard shaped hole it would seem.
  24. 3 of them makes up for the effort I would say. Feel free to review individually but it still only counts as 1 review.
