2 assists and an unbeaten first VHL sim. Can’t ask for much more than that.

Nah it’s probably fine honestly. -
S88 Experience Points + Experience for VHLM & VHLE!
Beketov replied to Beketov's topic in Off-Season
I think you misunderstand what the settings are though. The sliders aren’t like “Scoring has X weight, passing has Y weight” sorta thing. If they were then we wouldn’t have needed the hybrid attributes because we just could have tuned things. All the sliders do is affect how much of a given thing (goals, hits, penalties, that sort of thing) happen in a given game. Knowing them wouldn’t really be able to influence builds at all because they are just arbitrary figures and affect everyone universally. Also this. Leagues that get way too in depth with their settings in public inevitably lead to way too much test simming which not only increases the likelihood that exploits are found but also means, in theory, to succeed a GM requires both a ton of time to test and the money to buy a copy of the engine, not that it’s really expensive. -
S88 Experience Points + Experience for VHLM & VHLE!
Beketov replied to Beketov's topic in Off-Season
We changed absolutely no settings in the engine when we switched over to hybrid so nothing is tuned differently. There's also no tuning for experience as far as I can see so we couldn't have tuned it if we wanted to. As for being more transparent, all we could really do is give the sliders which wouldn't really indicate anything of value. -
Welcome to the VHL, vladbatton! We're happy to have you. You should have received a PM with some more detailed information, but to get started quickly you will want to head over to the "How to Create a Player" topic. That topic will offer you detailed information about how to use the VHL Portal to create your player and get you started. We also highly recommend joining the VHL Discord where there is a channel dedicated to helping new members with any questions that they may have about the league or improving their player. Once your player is made VHLM General Managers will be in touch with you about joining their teams. In the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions you have here or in your create-a-player thread. We're happy to have you in the community and we hope you stick around!

INDEX @VHLM GM To send in your lines please use the Team Management section of the portal, if you have manual requests due to waiver pick ups or other roster changes please PM me your notes. For this first set if there any any issues in your rosters please let me know as soon as possible so I can correct them before the first sim Friday. I made sure all rosters can be at least valid so we should have no problems there but if you're missing any players, if any players are the wrong position, or anything else I need to know. A reminder that the portal and the sim are different entities so having someone on your roster portal wise does not guarantee they will be in your roster sim wise. I have to add them manually so please be as clear as possible with any requests. Last bit of house keeping is a reminder that your lines should not be renamed in any way from the default. Changing the name at all will make the auto-load lines function skip your lines and I'm not likely to notice so please be sure they are simply named after your team as is the default. Also like the last few seasons the farm system is on since it needs to be on all season or not at all. While the Junior system is not in use games will still be simmed (they are done at the same time) but they won't be posted. If we click Juniors over to being active (which has yet to happen) we'll get games posted for it as well. You guys will be in charge of your junior lines as well as your pro lines when the time comes to turn it on so make sure you remember that. I cannot promise you a specific time for games, although 6:45PM EST is most likely; whenever games do run they will be live at the link below. I can't promise you they will be very entertaining; in fact I can almost guarantee that they won't be. However in an effort to be more transparent with our simming you will all be able to watch me click buttons in all it's glory. I will do my best to put a message on discord whenever I go live and you can use the #roles channel to subscribe to the notifications so you won't miss when sims are going live. I also suggest downloading the VHL App which will allow you to receive push notifications when games are posted. Good luck to everyone this season and let's have another good one!

The Knight has never involved the playoffs so the playoff success would t have been a judging factor.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: expanding the M is a dangerous game. You’re thinking with how it is right now where there’s a good amount of parity and competition but we’ve seen before that expanding the M kills that, you get over half the league that just has empty rosters if recruitment has so much as a down season. Plus if you want people in the M as long as they are in the M + E right now (since going up to the VHL straight from the M cutoff you’ll get destroyed) you run into the old problem of new players getting completely ignored in favour of players that are going to stick around for 3-4 seasons. In short you move people’s complaints about the VHLE down to the VHLM.

Fair enough, I was just pointing out the why of it.

The simming team for S89 is: VHL: @MexicanCow123 VHLM: @Beketov VHLE: @Josh Backup: @N0HBDY Obviously this does mean that Devise has been removed as a member of the simming team. There’s nothing personal here, we just felt it was time for him to step back from the role. N0H has graciously agreed to sign on as the backup for this season and will be involved in the usual rotation starting next season. @VHL GM @VHLM GM @VHLE GM

Those straight up aren’t even possible in the sim, the choice is take out of our hands on that matter aside from doing it all manually as exhibition games and not keeping any stats. Moving teams between leagues is a nightmare with the way the portal is coded to keep track of records and such as far as I know. I was busy all day buying a car haha. Also I gave my more or less impressions on the E in the thread this morning. I enjoyed it and felt like the experience was good but obviously that’s not gonna be the experience for everyone. I do think the ACTUAL sentiment of this thread is accurate though, scouting matters and ideally scouting that isn’t just “send a google link to 30 people so they can answer a generic questionnaire.” TBF while it was a fucked up situation it was a mess of a few things. First it took a bit to track down the original graphics so we could match them, then we had to find trophy images we haven’t already used between the M and the L, then one of our lead devs left who was working on stuff, then the images got finished but there was a miscommunication so we didn’t know they were done, etc. Point is that yes, that section should have existed earlier but a lot of things went wrong to contribute to it being later than expected. Outside of the above clusterfuck how would you say we’ve given no effort to it? It’s been fighting a battle against apathy or disdain from day 1 and has continued to grow. Yes, it’s history hasn’t been maintained ideally (which is getting fixed) but we haven’t been ignoring it.

Never officially. There were consistent people who tended to do them and we’d pay them for it but it’s not an official job. As for the actual main point of this: Papa was a S79 draftee so I had to wait a full 9 seasons to play in the league I helped introduce. Calaway could have skipped, I had the TPE, but I wanted that first hand experience. Maybe it’s different for other teams, in fact I’m sure it is, but my experience was great. Locker Rooms were active, GM’s were engaging, sims were intense (even if I did arrive in Rome to immediately lose 18 games or whatever it was). Obviously the VHLE has issues, anything we could have made would have, but I stand by the belief that it’s still the best solution we have right now and if it becomes not the best solution we’ll deal with it. Acting like it has ruined everything in the league when it hasn’t though certainly doesn’t help anything.

Recapping Which VHL Team's Have Had An Interesting Off-Season
Beketov replied to MubbleFubbles's topic in Media Spots
Neat, I actually did not know that. -
Season 88 Experience Points Congratulations to all @Members for the completion of another successful VHL season, as well as to the London United for taking home their first Continental Cup. As always, with the season past, all VHL players have earned some more experience.... But wait, that's not all! Before I get into the usual yada yada I want to point out the rest of the title up there: Experience for VHLM & VHLE! The commish team and BOG have decided that the time is right to have the VHLM and VHLE receiving some experience as well. Now there's will not be as complicated or plentiful but it's still something. Anyone who participated in the VHLM or VHLE in S88 is eligible to claim 3 Experience Points. Okay, moving into the rest of the post now. How to Claim Claim experience in the Player Management area by clicking the 'CLAIM UNCAPPED' button, select Off-Season, then select Experience from the dropdown. Enter the amount of Experience you are eligible for as described below and link to this thread. Once approved, the Experience will be added directly to your player's experience attribute. You do not need to apply it yourself. NOTE: YOU CAN NOT CARRY OVER EXPERIENCE POINTS EARNED BY A RETIRED PLAYER ONTO A RECREATE POINTS Full VHL Season - 5 Points Partial VHL Season - 2 points (Less than 72 GP in VHL, unless due to a trade) Playoffs - 2 Points Finals - 1 Point VHLE (Any Amount) - 3 Points VHLM (Any Amount) - 3 Points Example: Marcel Janser played for London and won in the finals. They get 5 for a full season, 2 for playoffs, and 1 for finals. For the most part, members of these teams will receive: CALGARY - 7 CHICAGO - 7 DAVOS - 7 DC - 5 HELSINKI - 5 LONDON - 8 LOS ANGELES - 7 MALMO - 5 MOSCOW - 7 NEW YORK - 5 PRAGUE - 7 RIGA - 7 SEATTLE - 8 TORONTO - 5 VANCOUVER - 7 WARSAW - 5

I mean I was just listing the things we sim but there’s a discussion to be had here.

VHL, VHLE, VHLM, playoffs for all three, WJC, WC, JST. Yeah just a bit of simming…

Hello everyone, I know there are some who won’t be pleased to hear this but the league has decided to end the practice of the Lottery Tournament. It was originally created to give non-playoff teams something to look at sim wise which is good in theory but in practice it has often been completely ignored by both the players and GM’s involved in it. Additionally complications have arisen with the varying lottery odds involving teams not owning their own pick and therefore, intentionally or otherwise, harming another team by choosing to ignore or tank their lines in the tournament. Lastly it just adds more simming time required to a sim team that already has 3 sets of playoffs and multiple off season tournaments to worry about. So, for all of those reasons, S88 will officially mark the final lottery tournament and moving forward they will not be held. Instead lottery odds will be locked at the following: 1. 25.0% 2. 20.0% 3. 17.5% 4. 15.0% 5. 12.5% 6. 10.0% These will still give an advantage to the worse teams, versus the old equal odds that we used pre-tournament, but will keep all teams with at least a decent shot at winning. All other rules regarding the draft lottery (only dropping 1 spot, etc) will remain the same. @VHL GM this is obviously most important for you guys so just throwing a tag there for good measure. - @Commissioner, @BOG

100%. If a GM signs with a team in FA then trades a reasonable value for their player it’s totally fine, even if that was worked out in advance of FA. The problem comes from clearly signing with a team that will accept the lowest possible offer whether it’s fair or not. All trades involving a GM getting their own player get reviewed to make sure they aren’t unreasonable. This is a pretty easy call.

Our perfect run had to end at some point. Still got a point at least, never beaten in regulation during the round robin.
