Hey look, I'm doing this again! I could probably have just started the lottery tourney sims and claimed simmer pay this week but whatever, I wanted to try out trivia anyway with all the controversy about it lately... So let's start with trivia shall we? Honestly I think the idea of trivia being too difficult and needing to have answer sheets to be a tad overblown. Yes, I have obviously been here for 15 years so I know things the new members don't but I also have a notoriously bad memory so that hardly helps me much. I feel like most instances of "this is too hard" could be solved by asking for help in the trivia section of the discord rather than trying to find it for an hour or just guessing and then complaining about the question. No, it isn't meant to be completed in a minute, but it's also not likely to take you an hour. People need to be wiling to ask for help, there's no shame in that. If anything I find the trivia channel gets responses faster than most, people are here to assist. Playoffs have started and Moscow is up 2-0 so far over London after a huge game 1 and an acceptable game 2. I'm not really getting my hopes up since they have been dashed far too many times, especially with Papa, but it's a nice start at least. Speaking of Papa, he officially needs 41 wins in the regular season next season to take control of the Regular Season franchise wins record (he already has playoffs). That is doable but dare I say unlikely. For reference I had 38 wins this season and while I have managed 48 and 47 before the team is getting up there in age and most of our main core is already gone or retiring after this season so is it doable? I don't know. Would be something cool to have for sure but I'm concerned. Dear Simon, can I just get 41 wins and 7 shutouts to take both of those records? That would be great. I do have the highest S% for any Moscow goalie that played more than 1 season so that's cool. Getting away from Papa here, I'm going into my last season which means I'm starting to think about my next player. I haven't touched the hybrid attributes yet since putting them in so this is a whole new world for me. I'm considering going defence again actually which I've only done once and that was during PP2 so I had Holik to look at for most of the time. Plus he only played 7 seasons and 1 o those was at forward so is it a bad idea? Probably but I'm still thinking of trying it out.

We should probably just put a disclaimer on trivia stating "if there is a discrepancy between an answer on the portal and on the forum; the forum is correct" but that assumes people even look in both places. Not that you asked but a lot of the time the reason for those discrepancies is because the portal is based on STHS databases which we didn't have for a pile of seasons so we had to try and rebuild them which led to some problems in certain seasons and a fun notable issue in that there are two players named Brick Wahl so their stats are just listed doubled up, or at least they were (maybe we fixed that). Anyway point is the forum was just manual stuff added up over the years, usually by @Victor , and not fighting with a database meant it was much easier to get right plus we can track things that obviously STHS doesn't track. Legit curious which question this was.

9/10 times the answer is "go to the HoF section on the forum and there's an obvious spreadsheet that shows it." There are a couple of questions that are arguably a tad bit too hard but on the whole nothing should be taking you close to an hour to find. Then that sounds like a you problem . A little harsh I know but the point is that if you are refusing to ask for help on questions you find hard is the answer "make the questions easier" or is the answer "use the resources available to you?" I would wager the latter.

That is correct. It always used to just be season 6, 7, and 8 but if people stayed down awhile we were having instances of people in their like second season being depreciated which didn’t seem fair.

The banking wasn’t a choice thing. Everyone started at 30 (catch up TPE wasn’t a thing yet) and carryover couldn’t be applied until a user hit the VHL.

Generally my response in that situation is something along the lines of “You can find that in the HoF section on the forum” or whatever it is. That’s not giving them a direct link to the relevant topic but at least it’s pointing someone in the right direction. The board makes it clear what all the forums and subforums are so finding a forum when it’s specifically mentioned is not necessarily difficult. I think the biggest issue is people find a question that have trouble with and either just seek out someone to hand them the answer or they guess. A far better course of action is to use the trivia channel on the discord to ask for help. People generally won’t hand you the direct answer but they will point you in the right direction.

Have we considered perhaps not treating the mods as if they are crown persecutors? Them looking into something doesn’t automatically mean anyone is going to be punished for it. I don’t know precisely how this all went down but I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with “please stop doing this thing” which isn’t saying “or else” in any way. Again, I wish I would have known more about what was going on because this whole crackdown doesn’t seem to be what I saw discussed but that doesn’t mean that it’s wrong for the mods to look into anything. If we only allow the RGB teams to handle that kind of thing we’d gonna burn out faster than we already do.

How do you figure that? We have literally more options than ever to hit the cap. If someone feels like their trivia is too hard they can just go and do something else. Minor tasks account for much more total TPE than people are actually able to claim so I’m not sure I really subscribe to this notion that “oh trivia is too hard” when you can just go do something easier if you find that to be the case. Also where does this “threat of punishment” keep coming from? From what I have seen no one has ever said there will be any kind of punishment. It was more a “hey, if you’re doing this please stop doing it” sort of thing.
