    Real life matters more than this, @twists. You take care of yourself first. I will always stand by that statement, and the rest of Malmo’s locker room knows that too.

    There’s no grudge or anything held on my side. It’s ok buddy. Take care of things on your end, Malmo’s locker room will always be open to you ❤️

    Going Inactive

    I want to say I won't go inactive again. I want everyone here to trust me and be able to count on me for their team, a league job, anything. I just can't guarantee it. I have a problem quitting on things I don't deem absolutely necessary when I run into road bumps in my life. It's been a weird start to the year for me. I took a new job out of necessity (long story) and I only kind of know what I'm doing. That's been really stressful, my relationship has been a little rocky the past few months, and most recently my cat got very sick. I somewhat implode when things aren't going "good". I cut out everything other than the specific things I need to focus on, then I choose to stress about them instead of doing activities, hobbies, etc. that would probably be helpful for me. I love doing yoga. I haven't done yoga since the start of the year. It's not just the VHL, I have a tendency to do this with everything.

    I'm not asking you to trust me, or hell, even understand me. I just want to explain my side. I'm sorry to those teams I may have caused issues to. I'm sorry @KaleebtheMighty for not fulfilling my AGM duties, and disappearing. I wish I was a better person if that makes sense. Sometimes, I just shut down. Life is hard, but I don't make it any easier on myself by quitting on things.

    Randy Bobandy has completed 4 regular season games with the Malmo Nighthawks and all is more than well. To start things off, the Nighthawks are riding a 3-1-0 record to start the season. With such a small sample of games played, Bobandy has already been figuring out his line mates and is really getting a feel for his new team.

    Game 1 vs LDN: 4-3 L - 1 A
    Game 2 vs HSK: 5-2 W - 1 G 1 A
    Game 3 vs HSK: 5-1 W - 4 A
    Game 4 vs RIG: 2-1 SOW

    Goals Assisted: RJMW - 2, Gregger McKeggegger - 1, Reese McFleury - 1, Phillip Rave - 1, Conference P.D.G - 1,

    Randy Bobandy seems to have found his Apple wand again! Malmo locker room has already heard how excited I am to see my centerman passing this early, but man am I pumped to be on this team with multiple targets to find!! Bobandy struggled to find his feet in Calgary, but I’m getting hope of his early Seattle days. Bobandy had a career high 71 assist season in S89 with the Bears. It’s amazing to see my player with a 4 assist game this early in the season and I am stoked to watch the rest of this season play out, 68 games left!

    I created Randy to be a pass first defensive center. I built him to play with other top forwards, not be the top guy himself, so it’s sweet to see the depth of Malmo starting to work for him.

    Vancouver Wolves Captains

    After a quick incident in the Vancouver Wolves locker room this morning when it was suggested that the team would only vote for an assistant captain this season. Not mentioning any names but a veteran player gabbed a rookie member of the team and flipping her upside down with her head between his legs with the threat of completing a signature Tombstone piledriver on her if the AGM @Gaikoku-hito didn`t open up the voting to have all members available to be Captain and assistant Captains also rumored to have added,” The last time I was Captain I won the cup!! Just saying”

    Where was the General manager @Frank when this was all taking place? Well, in the corner drinking Soju of course finding the whole events rather entertaining to say the least. To save the life of said rookie the AGM @Gaikoku-hito was forced to allow the team to vote for this season Captains.

    Here are the final results:

    And

    *Note: Events of today’s actives in the LR might be exaggerated or even fabricated for purpose of entertainment as the AGM is also known to be a bit of a Joker!! Also note no rookies were harmed in the LR wrestling incident early today. Can we also start the season before the wolves tear each other apart out of boredom as I cannot take Guntis Gavilrovs @Girts continuing to gift Rip Wheeler @ScottyP in apology over a single fight last season!!

    KaleebtheMighty got a reaction from DarkSpyro in The Malmo Nighthawks Hire Their Next AGM!
    A big thank you to all who applied for the role of Assistant General Manager for the Malmo Nighthawks! There were many well qualified candidates, but ultimately one stood out with their interview questions and follow-up discussions with myself.If there's one thing I pride myself on, it's allowing new people to hop in and see what it's like to manage a team. I have another great opportunity to do so today!

    Without further ado, the Malmo Nighthawks are proud to announce the next AGM of the team:

    Congratulations once again, and I look forward to working with you to make the Malmo Nighthawks the best place to be in the VHL!

    1.     Did you actively take part in watching this season VHL draft? And what did you think about the two players that Vancouver selected?
    I did i enjoy listening to the draft stream one day it would be fun to be a co-host or guest. The time just never works. Love our first selection @Thunder is a 1st overall talent his presence in the LR can't be understated either. I really need to get my shit together in that aspect.

    2.     Broadcaster mentioned Goaltending controversy likely coming to the Vancouver Wolves due to our second pick of Soju; Do think this will be the situations? Why or Why not?
    No I have a great relationship with @KaleebtheMighty whether that be GM to GM or player to player. I'm excited to see how Soju backs up Vidarsson in 95 and 96. If I was a betting man Soju wears a different logo in 97.

    3.     Broadcaster also mentioned this AGM being disappointed or should be put out when his player was selected 3rd overall since he bleeds black & grey of the Wolves? Do you think this is situation that this AGM is disappointed and should managers be disappointed when they are drafted to a different team than the team that they are managing?
    As disappointed as I am I think Bouchard is in a good spot career wise. I know PEB will get into the hof eventually. And being the guy in Riga only ups the odds for Marc. Where as he would be behind Logan and Riley in Vancouver.

    4.     Did anyone actively take part in the ProAM tournament or even know it was happening? What is a better way to make this tournament more engaging?
    I haven't found much interest in it for sone time. At first it was a nice distraction but after a few entries it just makes me miss the VHL seaaon more.

    5.     JST is another interesting tournament that took place as it does most off-season and while I feel like it is a good idea to have a tournament to keep interest in new members higher, It feels like it is starting to fall flat. How would try to bring interest back into the JST tournament and what would you change?
    It all cones down to how active the GM's and organizers are. Same can be said of the WJC and WC. I've always found its hit and miss if the team does poorly then the LR is dead.

    6.     WJC championship should have kicked off by now so are you actively following the tournament or any of the prospects in the tournament? Which team in any or which prospect if any?
    I followed my own player but Team Asia got completely shelled. Trueno had a better time than Soju thankfully.

    7.     Bonus: Since I am being lazy this week, tell me what would be a great article for the VSN to cover during the off-season Or an article that might be interesting topic to cover in the future? Why?
    VSN has a lot of great content but sometimes great ideas or articles become a obe off when they should be a seasonal occurrence. So I think consistency is key.

    KaleebtheMighty reacted to Advantage in Malmo Prospect Spotlight - Jorgen Lovstrom Ready to Take the Mantle
    MALMO PROSPECT SPOTLIGHT - JORGEN LOVSTROM READY TO TAKE THE MANTLE

    The Malmo Nighthawks are entering their last season with Ash Sparks at the helm, a goalie that has manned the pipes for the last five seasons to the tune of 183 wins and a .926 save percentage over the course of 315 games.  With one final good season, he could find himself at the top of several Malmo goaltending records and likely with a retired jersey in the rafters.  Those are big shoes to fill and a challenge for anyone that is likely to take up the mantle next.  Karl Herzlich seems like a solid piece that should slot in once Sparks is gone and give Malmo a few good seasons as an improving and reliable netminder, but there is another name waiting in the wings that seems to have grabbed much of the attention in Malmo.

    Jorgen Lovstrom is a netminder that has been making waves since his impressive rookie (and only) season in the VHLM, as a member of the Philadelphia Reapers.  It was there that saw the goalie win the Benoit Devereux Trophy, Skylar Rift Trophy, Mitch Higgins Trophy and the Founder’s Cup, all in Season 92….and he was never even drafted into the VHLM! He would, however, be drafted 16th overall to Vasteras in the VHLE Draft and 7th overall to Malmo, as their General Manager was seeking someone that could take over the mantle for Sparks when his time had come to an end.

    Lovetrom impressed in his first VHLE season, despite only playing 39 games, as he recorded a 21-14-3 record with a 2.34 GAA and .931 SV%.  All he does is win, recording a ridiculous 69-22-7 record over the course of his professional career.  The one place he really didn’t win was on Team World at the WJHC, but even there despite going 0-1-3, Lovstrom was still really good with a .934 SV% and 3.06 GAA, as he always gave his team a chance to win and kept them in it at all times.  That is the marquee of a top notch goalie and one that Malmo has to be excited to see the growth of this upcoming season.

    Lovstrom boasts incredible hand speed and reaction time and despite being a bit smaller when it comes to goalies, is incredible difficult to beat high.  His quick glove is paired with good positioning and solid rebound control, with his well-rounded skillset being proven throughout his professional career thus far.  He has some improvements to make in his side-to-side consistency and technique, and he will always be discredited for his smaller build in net, but there is a lot to like from this talented and young goaltender.  Most importantly, he has proven to be a good teammate and someone that is easily coachable and always looking to learn so here is hoping that the next era between the pipes is as good as the one that is just about to end.  I for one, am very excited to see how Lovstrom progresses as he enters his second, and likely final, season in the VHLE.

    1). Well I had to, I was in the Malmo camp 😅. Bollos de Trueno is a great pickup! Soju was an interesting one at first. I was a bit perplexed, however I noticed the steep drop off after Soju when it came to goalies in this draft. I bet Frank's looking to get a higher price for his goalie with a different team to bring in some more capital. Good move!

    2). I hope not! But as I stated above, I can see one reasoning behind this pick. If anything, Vidarsson has a NTC for the next 4 or so seasons which leads me to my conclusion in the first question.

    3). The best way about this is to enter with an open mind. Great people exist on all teams, so limiting yourself to only 1 or 2 teams tends to spell problems. It stinks, don't get me wrong, but going into a draft with no expectations and a happy smile wherever you go is the best policy!

    4). I've done it a few times before, but to be completely honest...I just didn't care that much to check on the stats. Other people may have more interest, so I stopped signing up to give others more interested in the tournament a chance to play.

    5). Honestly, tournaments just may not cut it for people. We need new engaging activities within the community to increase involvement. That's where I would point a finger to working on something new.

    6). I'm in full off-season mode, so I disconnect for a bit before the index drops (especially since Malmo is pretty set lol).

    7). Not sure if it has been done before, but has anyone looked at which VHLM team has had the most HOF players on their team in their history?

    RANDY BOBANDY IS LEAVING NORTH AMERICA

    That's right folks, since playing in the VHLE for Oslo in S86, the veteran Canadian cheeseburger-lar Randy Bobandy is leaving North America and making his return to Europe! With recent news of Calgary undergoing a rebuild, Randy Bobandy's player rights were put up to the market only for the Malmo Nighthawks to be the highest bidders. Randy has never heard of a place called Malmo before, he didn't even know it was in Sweden, but it sounded like his old team the "Sunnyvale Shithawks" so he was pumped!

    ~~~
    For back story, Randy Bobandy had accepted a player option extension to the Calgary Wranglers in S93 and was interested in some success before his retirement in S95. Calgary GM @leandrofg came to Randy this past off-season with disappointing news, the Wranglers organization would look to enter a rebuild era. This was disappointing to me in two ways:
    My all time playoff appearance streak of 12 seasons straight since entering the league just ended after Calgary placed behind Chicago's wildcard spot in S93. So I mean cry me a river it was bound to happen one day, but the bigger point being:  Nobody loves getting traded after making a home. A rebuild was best for this team's situation so all is understood of course.
    I enjoyed my time in Calgary with Bobandy and I was ready to play the next two seasons there. Even though the success factor didn't come for Bobandy in Calgary, I am really hoping for a veteran bounce back in Malmo. @SlapshotWrangler we'll find each other again with our next players don't worry ❤️
    Randy Bobandy lands in Malmo! After a long flight over Eastern Canada and then the Atlantic Ocean, Randy finds himself on European soil standing in front of Malmo GM @KaleebtheMighty. A quick mingle lead to an SUV ride to the Malmo Nighthawks arena. Randy and Kaleeb toured the beautiful stadium and took some extra time to look at the recent history of back-to-back Victory Cups from Malmo's dominant S92/S93 campaign. Kaleeb expressed Malmo's drive for success and this caught Bobandy's attention, he has not seen a cup finals since the S88 Seattle Bears, he has not held a trophy since the S86 Oslo Storm, Randy Bobandy may be old but he is still extremely hungry. Randy and Kaleeb finished the touring with Randy feeling much more warm hearted for his new team, even making it clear to Malmo's GM that he is determined to finish out his last two remaining seasons in Malmo. Kaleeb seemed thrilled and quickly introduced Randy to some of his new teammates. There were some talks about tacos to be had?
    3 season Captain, back to back Victory Cup winner, goaltender and former teammate of Randy's for the S87/S88 Seattle Bears, Ash Sparks @DarkSpyro was the first to reach out to Bobandy for a handshake. Sparks and Bobandy entered the VHL together in S87, playing two seasons together as young studs on a talented Bears roster. Bobandy was so pleased to see an old friend lacing the skates up again. Sparks filled the new guy in on how Malmo's team budget consists of a sponsorship from Taco Bell... and to say the least, Randy is seriously considering changing his diet from cheeseburgers to tacos for the next two seasons. The word tacos spawned another teammate into conversation, as a young Philip Rave @tcookie introduced himself to Randy. Philip Rave has completed two seasons in Malmo already with back to back Victory Cups, an 80 point season, and even so much more potential to reach for. Bobandy and Rave will need to drink a beer together sometime so that the Canadian can teach, but also learn some beer drinking techniques from the only currently active VHL player born in Liechtenstein. Randy is ecstatic with this recent move to a new home and ready for the new season to start after a fun training camp with the Nighthawks.
    I'm also pumped to be playing with @Advantage @comrade cat and @Dom! I got to know ADV and comrade a lot better in S88 when Jensen and Tsevar played for Houston, and I've known Dom since I joined in on this forum. So this almost feels like Sparks and Bobandy in the sense that I always love connecting with old friends. @scoop @Spaz and @RJMW are all members I'm excited to play with as well. All active members that I've just never gotten the chance to actually hangout with yet! Malmo seems like a really fun spot for myself and my player, cheers to you all for making my entrance to the Nighthawks a good one already.
    KaleebtheMighty reacted to burritohour in Draft Day Surprises
    The VHL Draft room was buzzing with anticipation as teams prepared to make their selections. Gabriel Finley, a left winger from the Miami Marauders, was far from a household name. His performance in the previous season had been steady but unspectacular, with just 7 goals, 13 assists, and 51 hits in 34 games.
    Finley's name was not among those frequently mentioned by analysts or scouts as the draft progressed. He was considered a mid-round prospect at best, overshadowed by more highly-touted players with flashier statistics. The Malmo Nighthawks announced Finley's name with the 33rd overall pick, an expected draft placement for it .  For Finley, the moment was surreal. As he donned the team's jersey, he felt a mixture of pride, excitement, and determination. He was ready to prove himself at the next level, regardless of the doubts that had surrounded him leading up to this moment. Yet, he couldn't imagine what would happen next. In the VHLM draft, the Mexico City Kings made an unexpected move, selecting Finley with the 8th overall pick in the VHL minor draft. Once again, the decision caught many off guard. Finley's modest statistics from the previous season hardly seemed to warrant such a high selection. But perhaps it was his intangibles, his work ethic, his leadership, his willingness to do whatever it took to help his team win, that had caught the eye of the Kings' management. As Finley reflected on his journey from the Miami Marauders to the Nighthawks and the Kings, he knew that he had his work cut out for him. He was keenly aware that he hadn't put up the numbers of a typical first-round pick, and he felt a renewed sense of determination to prove his doubters wrong. The stage was set for Gabriel Finley to embark on the next chapter of his hockey career. With the draft behind him, he was eager to roll up his sleeves and get to work. The road ahead would be challenging, but he was ready to rise to the occasion and show the hockey world what he was truly capable of.  As he looked ahead to the upcoming season, Finley knew that he had a lot to prove. He was no longer flying under the radar; all eyes would be on him as he took to the ice wearing the jerseys of the Mexico City Kings and eventually the Malmo Nighthawks. But if there was one thing that Gabriel Finley thrived on, it was rising to the challenge. He had never been one to back down from a fight, and he approached the upcoming season with the same grit and determination that had carried him through his entire career. For Finley, the draft day surprises were just the beginning of what promised to be an exciting and unforgettable journey. With a new team, new challenges, and new opportunities ahead of him, he was ready to write the next chapter in his hockey story, and he couldn't wait to see where it would take him.
    It is currently the off-season for S94 and I wanted to quickly congratulate the Seattle Bears for winning the Continental Cup before diving into the rest of this article. I also wanted to say thank you to the league. I appreciate yet another nomination for the Aiden Shaw award this season. Sparks has had an incredible career so far but sadly all great rides must eventually come to an end. I’m sure most of you know that Ash Sparks must retire at the end of this season but for those that didn’t- well now you do.
    “I was thinking of retiring last season.. but I owe it to my team and all of the people that believed in me since coming to Malmo- to give them 1 last ride.” -Ash Sparks, Goaltender and Captain of the Malmo Nighthawks.
    The Malmo Nighthawks just had legendary back-to-back Victory Cup winning seasons, and Sparks has been playing incredibly since his arrival in S89. He currently sits 39 wins behind the all-time Malmo record, and only needs 1 more shutout to claim that record too. Sparks has accumulated a 183-98-31 winning record over 315 games played for the Nighthawks thus far as we are heading into his final season.
    If he can secure another Victory Cup, any personal hardware, or claim those records; he may see his jersey hanging from the rafters in the Nighthawks arena some day.
