Non-VSN S84 VHL Rookie Ladder #3
jacobcarson877 replied to leandrofg's topic in Archived Media Spots
Landon Wolanin slump week incoming -
Hello! I am the GM of the San Diego Marlins, and I have quite the offer for you! Lots of ice time, a fun group of players to learn the site with and a chance to fight for a playoff spot! If this sounds like a good deal to you, quote this message and reply with #jointhebigfish and I’ll send you a standard contract!

Welcome back! So far the Marlins consist of literally just a goalie, but with you we could make it 2! I can split you for the rest of the season, just give me a nice #jointhebigfish and I'll send you an offer!

(S86) RW - Yaroslav Bogatyrev, TPE: 75

Hey! Welcome back! What I have to offer you with the Marlins is so much ice time, literally every line. We're going to be pretty bad, but you could definitely get some standout performances. You know the drill, quote this and reply with #jointhebigfish and I'll send you an offer! -
I really have no statistical evidence to back this, because after all this is a vhl.com article and quite frankly I’m just going to assume I’m right until someone proves me wrong, but I feel like overall, save percentage, and thus shooting percentage has far less range as it used to. The difference between the surprising team leading in shooting percentage (Toronto) and the utterly abysmal Prague group is only 2.54%, and even TOR seems like an outlier, a whole .34% higher than the second place team, Helsinki. What I did notice however is there seems to be a pretty clear dividing line between playoff team shooting percentages and non-playoff team shooting percentages. Seems like the cut-off is roughly 7.5%, with 8/10 playoff teams hitting that threshold, everyone except the incredibly strange Warsaw Predators and the young Davos team, who miss that threshold by .08%. Warsaw’s shooting percentage seems to be yanked down by Hari Singh Nalwa who I would have expected to have roughly double the goals they have given the shot totals. Davos has the young trio of Siyan Yasilievich, Napolean Dynamite and Jake Thunder who cannot seem to put the puck in the net, although aren’t trying nearly as hard as Nalwa. What has been really interesting to me, however, has been Calgary (of course), where every defenseman has below 6% shooting this season so far, despite the lowest forward being just below 8%. Poor GoodBrandSun is shooting 2.78% so far despite the incredible rookie season. Hopefully that means a burst of goalscoring from the back end is due for Calgary.

San Diego Marlins Press Conference
jacobcarson877 replied to Oatex's topic in Team Press Conferences
SAN DIEGO MARLINS PRESS CONFERENCE Week Ending 7/24/2022 or 7/31/2022 Answer 3 questions for 1 capped TPE, all 6 for 2. 1. Well, as I write this, we just have 1 player. How great do you think Minion's save percentage is going to be facing all those shots every game? 2. What is your favourite drink after a long hot day? 3. How have you been keeping yourself busy these days? 4. Since this is the last week of the month, what has been the best thing that happened to you this month? 5. What is something you've always wanted to get into, but never got around to it? 6. Which team do you think will surprise us all come the playoffs? @Minion -

Hey! Glad to see you making your way to the VHL! I'm the GM of San Diego and if you join us, you'll be my only forward. Which does come with the perks of maximum playing time, generally accelerated point generation and pretty much a personal GM to help you become the best you can be before the draft. Downside is, we're not going to win many games. Quote this and reply with #jointhebigfish and I'll send you an offer!

Listen I know the Theme is VHL AT 15 but I think it would be better as VHL IN 15, so I’m going to slam this one out in a stream of consciousness in 15 minutes. Normally I can get it done in about 20-30 so this shouldn’t be too bad so long as my fingers keep working. What do we have now? We’ve been doing a lot of praying to Simon in the Wranglers LR, because obviously he hates us if you look at really any of our sims where Janser doesn’t get a hattrick. We keep losing games we out shoot in, or just suck so badly against teams way below us in the standings. Landon Wolanin has been pretty mediocre, although that’s to be expected. But I did check the player list of players in the VHL and apparently, as of when I looked at least, I’m the 81st highest TPE player in the league which makes me roughly any team’s 5th best player. That’s kind of cool as a rookie and a testament to how little of a life I truly have over the summer. That might change in a month when I’m getting ready for my last year of university, but to be honest I doubt it. San Diego kind of sucks now, which is really to be expected with just an (almost) IA forward and Minion standing on his head. We got shut out twice yesterday, which isn’t really fun but its what I get for going all in on the future. Minion is getting starts and I’m pretty much just rooting for his individual success right now which is fun. Nice to focus on someone else’s player other than mine. Speaking of other players Gustav and I were talking earlier today about Art Vandelay (Art Vandelay) as we regularly do, because what else is there in this world other than Art Vandelay (Art Vandelay). We tried to describe the legend to other people in the LR, because we were talking in an EFL LR, so they hadn’t heard the legend and I had never stopped to think about how silly it is anyways. Art Vandelay (Art Vandelay) has simply become to me what Andrei Vasilevskiy (I just wasted like 2 of my minutes trying to figure out how to spell that) has become for me in the NHL. Like he’s great, like one of the best (probably just the best), but its not necessarily the averages that dictate that (although they are incredible), it’s just the pure game-breaking domination displayed sometimes. Like the amount of games, I watched where Vasilevskiy was just a goalie, was pretty often. But those games where he was an absolute WIZARD, I remember. Art Vandelay (Art Vandelay) is stuck n my mind like that. I sit in a pool of my own terror sweats when I think about playing him, not because of the averages, but the thought of losing 3-1 when we outshot them 72-8. That hasn’t happened yet but every time it doesn’t, I know the next time could be it. And now I have to think about that my entire career. Lets talk about the theme a little more as I begin to run out of time. So, 15 years ago I was but a wee lad. I ALMOST had a grasp on what offside was in hockey which is pretty cool. The Leafs were horrendous as always, and I think I was really only allowed to watch the 1st period on the 7:00 starts since my bedtime was MUCH earlier than it is now. I was probably just playing soccer in the summers, most of my athletics happened in my teens. Hockey really only became a dominant thing in my life in like 2013, soon after that first Leafs Game 7 debacle. Then I joined a bunch of fantasy leagues with my uncle and became obsessed with stats and contracts and all that jazz. Then it was EHM (shoutout to Shindigs for teaching me about EHM on that forum before we even met on here). Now I can barely even focus on either of those because of how much I prefer this (ignore my 2572 hours of EHM on Steam). Oh God out of time Thanks Everyone! claiming week of July 31st since I already submitted a Media Spot this week.
