  8. Hey everyone, so for theme week today I just wanted to shout out someone who helped me out early in my VHL career. That person is @BladeMaiden. When I came back to the VHL in February or March, after many years away, a lot had changed. I recognized a few posters and that was really it. For no reason in particular, I decided to sign with the Reapers in my first and only season in the VHLM with Hans Gruber. Blade was the GM of that team. We sucked, and spent the majority of the season in last place. But it never felt like it, as the locker room was always active and full of great conversation, no doubt spear-headed by our General Manager. She really took the time to help each and every player as well. Every new player was welcomed with open arms, and she went above and beyond to help you learn the ropes of player management. I think your first season, especially the first few weeks, are the most crucial in a player's development and is usually when you would decide to stick it out or go inactive. She definitely was a major reason why I stuck it out. I've been in multiple sim leagues since returning to the world of sim, and that locker room experience was by far the best I've had. I know she isn't GM anymore, and it's a damn shame, but all GMs, not just in the VHL but in every sim league, should strive for that level of leadership. /endlovenote
  9. Wow. 12 goals against us today and I was only a -1, despite playing a total of 55 minutes lol! Can’t complain about that

  15. Hugh Jass arrived in Houston Tuesday for his first team practice. He signed his deal with them just the day before, after announcing his eligibility for the Season 71 VHL Draft. As a player who was believed to have a lot of intrest in his services, he surprised many people by signing with Houston almost immediately, instead of the usual day or two it takes new free agents to decide on a team. “Houston was an obvious choice for me”, Jass said, “Despite their position in the standings, they’ve got a good future and they give me a chance to step in right away and make a name for myself”. Houston sits eleventh out of eleven teams in the VHLM, with just eight wins to their credit. With only twenty five games remaining, they have no real shot of catching the teams in front of them. They’re almost guaranteed to be watching the playoffs as opposed to playing in them. But they are set up well for the future, and that matters to a young player like Jass. The Bulls currently own their own first round pick along with Las Vegas’ first rounder. That gives them a real shot at getting the top two picks in the draft, and will at worst work out to two of the top four picks. The talent looks to be deep in the next VHLM draft, happening this offseason. Left Winger Erik Killinger, Defenceman Roque Davis and Centerman Kyl Oferson lead the pack in terms of players that appear to be the front runners for the top few picks of the draft. Although there is a lot of obvious talent and no brainer picks, Jass looks to be a player who could fall out of the top five or six picks, and still end up being a pick that will really help a team out for a season. Hugh Jass skates at his first practice Jass stepped on the ice Tuesday and immediately impressed his team. He’s an imposing figure, standing at 6’5. His size doesn’t limit his movement. He possesses a great stride which gives him the ability to jump into the rush quickly and assist in getting back into position. His offensive game is strong too. He uses his high IQ to make quick decisions that usually lead to good things. His General Manager, Frostbeard, was impressed by what he saw in Jass’ first time out.“Hugh looked really good out there. He’s definitely going to help our hockey club out. We’re really suffering from playing these bot defencemen,” Frostbeard said after practice, “He’ll step in and contribute right away, play big important minutes for us. We’ll see if we can bring him back in the draft, I’d like to try and keep all of my active players together if I can”. On his expectations for his future? Jass is just remaining confident and plans on working hard. “There’s a lot of talent out there, and I’m as good as any of them. I’ll prove it this year, and especially after an offseason, I’ll be ready to kick some ass in this league”
