  1. #FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY
  2. 1. It's definitely been rough sledding lately for NYA, going 3-7-0 in our last 10. If you were GM, would you make changes or just wait for better results? I just blame Simon T. Don’t think anything has changed, our players have only gotten better. Wouldn’t make any changes. 2a. If answering this before the Trade Deadline, what moves do you expect from the team? After I think. I don’t expect any moves. 2b. If answering after the deadline, how would you rate the team's deadline? Anything you'd do different? Don’t think we did anything, so no! 3. The VHL draft is slowly sneaking up on us. Any prospects catch your eye? No one specific, but we’re definitely losing Burn and Red Guy due to old age. Hopefully we can get an active player to replaced either. Our prospect cupboard is quite bare. We legit have two active prospects and they’re both goalies. 4. The biggest surprise of the VHL season thus far is...? Our late season slide. Thought we had it figured out 5. Theme week just passed, talking about future players/recreates. If you had to come up with a name for your recreate, what would it be? That’s a tough one. You only get one shot, so it has to be good. My first player was German, Hans Gruber. This name is a play on words, little bit silly. I’d probably go with something normal. Nothing crazy. Maybe I’ll make a Canadian with a regular name lol 6. The NHL playoffs are officially underway! Who are you cheering for? GO BLUES!!!
  3. Crazy to think it’s come to your retirement already! Seems like just yesterday we were in the minors. Best of luck man! Hope to see you recreate (if you haven’t already)
  4. Man! Glad to have gotten the chance to play with you. Hopefully we get you that cup and a goalie of the year award too.
  5. Best overall defenseman
  6. Theme week! Yay! After I spent an hour writing out a 1000+ word PT last night, that’s just awesome. Oh well. So this seasons theme is “recreates”. An exciting time for sure, as it’s usually the first chance for most to build a star player from day one. First gens have to start at that lowly 30 tpe, and it may not seem like a big difference, but that bonus recreate Tpe that you get really gives you a good jump. The thing there, is you need to reach the max TPE to get that 50. By my math, your first hen has to hit 1250 to get the maximum 4%. That’s not impossible, but you pretty much have to cap or come close to it each week to make it so. My first player didn’t make it, as I went inactive after about three seasons or so, so my current player only had a boost of about 25-30 tpe. Getting the full 50 is definitely worth it, as you can basically hit 100 before you play your first game, with capping week one and making a small donation if you choose. Great head start to your career and will make you a top player on most VHLM teams. I don’t know what position I’ll choose to recreate as next. My first player was a winger, and as fun as it was, I didn’t get far enough to experience any real offensive success. I think forward is probably the most common choice for most, and it’ll probably be my choice too as I didn’t get to do the full eight seasons as one. Everybody loves to score points and be that guy on a team, and forward gives the best chance for that. Defence is my current position. When i recreated previously, I wanted to try something new as I hadn’t tried a defenceman before. It’s probably the position that gives you the most playing time at the start, because most teams have only four defensemen, so you’ll be playing a ton. This has been hugely beneficial to me in New York, as we only have three defenceman so we all get to play quite a bit. Defence is a good position to be because you don’t have to score to Points to make an impact. Goalie is probably the hardest position to create as. I actually was a goalie in the SHLs minor league, and it was a lot of fun. Sometimes as a new player, you have a hard time making an impact, but when you’re a goalie you play every game, and you get all the credit when you win! The issue with recreating as a goalie, is each team only has one starter. So when you’re starting out, you’ll probably ride the pine a bit. I guess maybe that isn’t the case in the VHL, as the minor system doesn’t work the same. But non the less, it’s definitely the position that takes the most work. 500 words on the nose
  7. 1. After 40 games, we are 26-10-4. (1st in NA!) How do you feel about the team's play up to this point? Love it. Amazing season from all. 2. Who would be the NYA MVP if the season ended today? A Red Guy! 3. How satisfied are you with your performance thus far? Really happy. Almost point per game, which is way more than expected. 4. Which NYA Prospect are you most excited to see jump to the bigs? Im not aware of any to be honest! I’ll have to have a look. 5. The S73 WJC is coming up. Which team do you want to see win? (Canada, USA, Asia, Europe or World) Canada always 6. What's the bigger IRL upset, Chicago beating Edmonton or Montreal beating Pittsburgh? (We all expected the Leafs to lose ) Montreal winning. Happy for them though, my dad is a big Habs fan.
  8. Officially the half way point of season 73! My how time flies. We’ve seen a really competitive season, with the top spot in the league still up for grabs. The 1st place team and the seventh placed team are separated by just six points! It’s really anyone’s game at this point. So with this thrilling season reaching its mid way, it’s only fitting that I make predictions on the end of season trophies! Let’s get it under way. Scotty Campbell Trophy- League MVP So the player deemed most valuable to a team. One might look at the top scorers and chose from there. Myself, I’m going with a goalie. For me, it’s A Red Guy taking this one home. It’s New York Americans sit a very close 2nd place in the league, and despite a very talented cast of players, Guy has been their best player. He’s got the most wins, best save percentage and the third best goals against average. He’s also tied for first in shutouts with three! This will be the third year in a row that a goalie has been selected, with Raymond Bernard going last year and Brick Wahl the year prior. Brett Slobodzian Trophy- Most Outstanding Player The most outstanding. An interesting trophy, as one doesn’t need to have team success to win it. This year it’s going to Sigard Gunnar of the LA Stars. Gunnar is a veteran player, and broke out last year in Calgary scoring a career high 80 points. He hasn’t looked back this year, taking the league by force and has been atop the leaderboard for some time now. He’s got 72 points in just 41 games, and is showing no signs of giving up his title. A bright spot for an other wise bleak year in Hollywood. Alexander Valiq Trophy- Top Offensive Defenseman One thing this league has no shortage of is offensive defencemen. It seems every year a new face is showing up on the leaderboards piling up the points from the blue line. This year though, a tried and true vet will win the Valiq Trophy. Lincoln Tate will take these honours home. The S71 Top Defenceman is no stranger to the hardware, and after points 86 points last year, Tate is on pace for another fantastic season. In his second to last year, he shows no signs of stopping. He’s also on pace to set new highs in hits and shots blocked. Jake Wylde Trophy- Top Defensive Defenceman This is a tough one. Offensive defenceman are easy. Look for the guy scoring the points. Defensive, on the other hand, is something a bit more. It’s a player who does the little things in their own end, while still contributing offensively. In my opinion, that goes to a guy flying waaaay under the radar, Alex Bridges of Warsaw. Warsaw selected Bridges with their third selection in the expansion draft, and he’s had a large role for them. Not only does he have 46 points in 39 games, he’s got 140 hits and 103 shots blocked, putting him fifth in the latter, and just outside of the top ten in hits. Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy- Top Rookie The future is bright in the VHL. Every year it seems rookies play larger and larger roles on their teams. This year is no different, with several players at or near a point per game in their freshman campaigns. This year, the trophy goes to Lucas Brandt of Moscow. Brandt was the ninth overall selection in the S72 draft, and after a few really successful seasons in the minors, hasn’t missed a beat scoring 22 goals and 41 total points. Just two seasons removed from their championship run, Moscow adding a weapon like Brandt is bad news for the other teams. Moscow remains in the hunt for the league title, being one of those teams mentioned earlier in the top seven. Scott Boulet Trophy- Top Two-Way Forward So a guy who can not only play offence, but throws the body around and does his part to get the other team away from the puck. Look no further than breakout player Chad Magnum of Toronto. Magnum not only has 48 points in 41 games, but he has an astounding 222 hits through the first portion of the season. He’s on pace for nearly 400 hits this year! Just a season 70 player, this young man has already amassed over 1000 career hits and is sure to be a candidate for this trophy for years to come! Dustin Funk Trophy- Most Improved Player This trophy is usually given to a player who had a massive jump in points. Looking back at the last 5-10 season of winners, generally a player will have a season of 35-40 points better than their previous year. It also tends to be a player who hasn’t previously been a high scorer. For me, this one is a no brainer. Jerry Wang of New York has come out of no where to be the leading scoring forward on a championship contender. Scoring his career high in points last year with 43, Wang was moved to New York and has flipped the script on his career in his fifth pro season. He has 57 points thus far, and is on pace for 102 points! That would more than double his previous high, besting it 59. If Wang can keep this up, he’s got a historic finish ahead of him. David Knight Trophy- Top General Manager Another tough one to give out. So many good performances from teams this year. In my opinion, we’ve got the first repeat winner in nearly 30 seasons (Mike Molholt won it in 48/49), Esso Drunkmann of New York. He has assembled a terrifically deep team, and has done so without the aid of high picks. He has made trades to acquire some of their top talent (Burn, Freeman, Wang, etc.) and has kept his team together. He won last year after New York won 38 games and made it to the conference finals in a Cinderella like fashion, losing to Calgary in seven games. This year, they could flirt with 50 wins and are a team built for a deep run. 1036 words.
  9. 1. We've had a rough few sims, what do we need to do to get back on track? honestly, I think that’s just Simon T for you. I’m convinced it’s random. 2. Who is going to be our biggest competition in the coming weeks? Davos. Just played them and we split the games. They’re right on our tail in the standings and I think it could be a future Finals matchup for sure 3. Our amazing goaltender, A Red Guy, is having an MVP-like season. What do you think his secret is? Me picking him in fantasy 4. Do we need to add anything to the team after seeing the results after two weeks? Keep on keeping on! 5. HOCKEY IS BACK! The NHL just restarted, who do you think is winning it all? my Blues of course! So glad to have all sports back. Hope the MLB smartens up though! 6. If you had to choose between fighting 1 horse sized duck, or 100 duck sized horses, what would you choose? 1v1 is always better. I’d be overwhelmed by the 100 ducks no matter the size
  10. I’m sorry. I needed the Tpe lol. *knocks on all the wood*
  11. 1. We currently sit 1st overall in the league. What do we need to do to make sure we stay there? Keep it up. Goaltending has been stellar, really the whole team has! 2. Have you changed your personal goals for the season after the first week? A bit. I was hoping for 50 points, but now I’m over a point a game after 14 games, so maybe up to 60. 3. Are you the kind of player to keep the same routine during a win streak? I’m not superstitious, just a little stitious. 4. What is your favourite VHL team to visit? Chicago for their deep dish 5. What kind of music do you work out to? Podcasts 6. Who do you think has been the surprise of the season as far as the overall standings go? Us!
  12. Well, how about those New York Americans? The VHLs resident unlucky team, the one that always has the worst sim luck, currently is riding high atop of the VHL standings. Is this article a jinx? Probably. But I need to get those birthday TPE, so I’m writing this anyway! Let’s go! Nearing the quarter mark of the season (yeah that’s right, tomorrow teams will hit game 18! Unbelievable), the Americans are currently numero uno in the entire league. They have 54 goals for, and just 33 against. Both numbers are League best. They are the only team in the league to have a 20+ goal differential, and one of only two teams to have a differential over ten (the other being Riga, who sit at eighth overall in the league and possess a +14 differential). As most know, this stat is usually quite accurate at measuring success. Those who have a positive number usually do well, and those who are negative do not. Let’s look at the reasons for the early success; 1) A Red HOT Guy in net If there’s a player on the Americans that deserves the team success, it’s their long time netminder, A Red Guy. Entering his sixth season as the teams number one backstop (his lowest games played was 54 in his rookie year), there were rumours of an early retirement. Hopefully his early numbers will put an end to those rumours and keep him in New York another season. He leads the league in wins (12), and is second among starters in both goals against average and save percentage. A top goalie is always a key part of any good team, and A Red Guy is doing his part to ensure success for New York. A Red Guy stops a shot in a game against Calgary earlier this season 2) Wheelin’ and Dealin’ General manager Esso has been committed to putting a winning team on the ice, and is making his intentions to build a “win now” team clear in the last season. Three acquisitions stick out as being moves that greatly improved the team and lead them to their current spot. Julius Freeman, Acyd Burn and Jerry Wang are three veteran forwards that were brought to the team via trade. Freeman, who is in his final season and is a sure fire hall of famer, is scoring over a point a game and sits second on the team in goals. Burn is a player not known for his high scoring seasons, only scoring over a point a game once back in his second year. This season though, he seems to be firing on all cylinders with 23 points in 14 games played. Perhaps the most surprising player on the team though is Jerry Wang. Wang was acquired in the off season, and has surprised most by scoring a team leading 24 points thus far. This comes as a bit of a surprise as Wang’s previous career high was just 45 points, a total that he is on track to surpass very shortly. Wang is punching a bit above his weight as he has just over 600 TPE, but you won’t find his American teammates complaining. 3) Deep Defence: The Americans are one of the few teams to run only three defensemen, and it’s been working wonders for them since last season. They are led by two of the top defenders in the league, Michael Gary Scott and Lance Flowers, who rank #3 and #9 in TPE among defensemen. Their third and final defender is third year player Hugh Jass. These three have combined for 42 points in the first 14 games of the year, and have blocked a ton of shots as well. Between the three, Flowers has been the defensive force, throwing out nearly three hits a game. ’Murica. Mentioned: @.sniffuM @Esso2264 @CowboyinAmerica @ColeMrtz @Motzaburger @Acydburn @rjfryman

Who do you think will be our biggest competition this season? Calgary/Seattle 3. What did you improve at most this off-season? Just trying to get the big five stats to 90. Very close. 4. What are your personal goals as a player for this year? Last year I think I said 40 points, 120 SB and 120 hits. Fell just short in the hits, but scored almost 50. this season id like to hit 50 points. 5. What's the best way to get prepared for the first game of a new season? Pray to the Simon t gods 6. Who is your favourite for the Continental Cup in Season 73?(it's us isn't it?) yes

What are your thoughts on the expansion for this upcoming season? Love to see the league grow. 6. How do you rate our chances at success for next season? I think they’re high.
