Hello everyone,
 
Not gonna bother with a members tag on this, if you see it then great, you will be rewarded for that. If you don’t then…. Well why am I writing this because if you don’t see it how can you read this part?
 
Anyway, today marks 5717 days (that’s 15 years, 7 months, and 26 days if you’re curious) since the VHL opened its doors. What a random number you might say, why does that matter? Well if I do the math, and I have, I was born 5717 days before the start of the VHL. Given that I joined on day one and have been here ever since that means today marks the official day that I have been in the VHL just as long as I was outside of it. Is that a stupid thing to celebrate? Probably but that won’t stop me; so please let me indulge in a bit of sentimentality for a moment.
 
When the VHL started I had not yet completed high school, I had never had a girlfriend, hell I had never kissed a girl. I was a lonely nerd turning to the internet to find something to do; and I found it. The VHL was not my first sim league, wasn’t even the first one I joined ran by the people who ran it, but it was the first that felt different and felt like it had a good chance of surviving which so few at that point had done. I found a community here. I cannot honestly say that everything went perfectly or that my start in the VHL was without fault; I very nearly left for good within 2 months, but I stayed. I have now not only finished high school but university and going on 10 years working post-schooling. I have now not only had a steady relationship but a wife and two children, a life. All the while the VHL has been there, constantly evolving with the times sure but present. Over 5 years ago I took up the mantel of commissioner. I did it not because I thought I was necessarily the best person for the job but because I thought the league needed something, it was in trouble and I didn’t want to see it fail. I like to think that in these 5 years of growth I have at least stalled that failure.
 
5717 days likely means nothing to any of you, just as that paragraph likely means nothing to any of you, but it means something to me. This league, this place, this community has been a standard in my life for longer than most anything else. I’m not going anywhere right now, that’s not what this is, but I did want to mark the occasion because this league does mean a lot to me.
 
So if you’ve made it this far feel free to take 5 uncapped TPE for your troubles, on me. I’m not sure the insane total I’ve had over the years (probably over 10k by now) so 5 for everyone that I bored with this story should suffice as a thank you for being my weird extended internet family.

The real biggest rivals: THE VELOCIRAPTORS
 
Velociraptor greg vs Scoish velociraptor maloish. It has been debated who is the better velociraptor. Back and forth they go trying to prove their superiority. Only one of them can come out on top. Who will it be? There is only one real answer to that question and I will tell you that it isn't the one with three names. Look Greg is supportive and whatnot of his velociraptor friends but this one…. This one is not okay. 
 
First off he had the audacity to become a velociraptor the same season that velociraptor Greg came to be. There is no reason for him to do this. It was uncalled for. The vhl can only handle so many velociraptors at one time and that number is 1. Greg knows how cool he is but he doesn’t need someone to copy his every move. Greg was the first of his kind to work to make it to the big leagues and maloish decided he had to do it faster and outshow Greg in his own game. Although the stats right now might say that maloish is better I can assure you that he is not. He is purely an imposter.
 
Something about velociraptors is they have to be able to control their anger. It is clear in the difference in penalty minutes that Maloish does not have that ability and is a bad representative of the velociraptor name. If we are going to be in this league we need to show composure and the ability to act normal. He is ruining our cover and making us easier to be hated. It is unfair.
 
 Greg is also superior in the fact that he has a cup in the m and the smelly maloish over there doesn’t have one. Although maloish has a whole season more experience than Greg in the vhl he only has 77 more points than Greg which is pretty pathetic if you ask me. You can’t claim to be a velociraptor and be THAT bad. In the E Greg played one more game than maloish but had over 20 more points than him. 
 
I urge Maloish to take a step back and look at his identity. Is he really a velociraptor? Does he have what it takes? I don’t believe he does. I will let him do some soul-searching, however. Let this be the official announcement to him that we are rivals and we are enemies. This is war. May the best velociraptor win as known as Greg is ready to beat you over and over again.
 
In conclusion Velociraptor, Greg, and Scotish Velociraptor Maloish are rivals whether or not Maolish agrees or thinks the same. Also, Greg is and always will be better than Maloish can ever dream of being. His effort is admired but let us all acknowledge who is the real velociraptor of this league and nothing can take that away from Greg. To future velociraptors out there let this be a warning to you… don’t even try.

The definition of rivalry is competition for the same objective or for superiority in the same field. In the VHL, that means we all fight for one thing, the Continental Cup. For some teams, it's done by any means necessary. Scoish Velociraptor Maloish learned this the hard way when he was traded to the Los Angeles Stars from the Calgary Wranglers. The trade was as follows:
 
Calgary receives:
S85 LAS 1st
 
Los Angeles receives:
Scoish Velociraptor Maloish
S87 CGY 2nd
 
A little behind the scenes of this trade. Maloish was approached by the GM of the team, Ricer before the exchange occurred. They stated that he was put on the block to help with the cap situation. "I definitely don't have you high on my list to move..." Those words meant a lot to Maloish. He thought he had a decent rookie campaign with the team and was looking to improve in the off-season. He knew that he was worth a lot to the team as he had only just joined and didn't get to prove himself yet.
 
"They made a compelling offer and it's one I couldn't pass up."
At the time of this trade, the Los Angeles Stars were scheduled to pick 5th overall in that draft. Calgary would go on to flip this pick to move up to the 3rd position in the draft with this trade.
 
Calgary receives:
S85 LDN 1st
S85 WAR 1st
 
London receives:
S85 LAS 1st
S85 CGY 1st
 
In that draft, Calgary would go on to draft Phil Strasmore, a defenseman. Calgary just drafted their replacement for Maloish. This ignited Maloish's drive to compete at his highest level and prove that they made a mistake in getting rid of Maloish. This was the start of the rivalry that Maloish started for himself. Maloish vs Calgary.
 
Strasmore and Maloish both started on their respective rosters the following season. While Maloish had the better point total that season, Strasmore was able to go into the playoffs, although losing in 6 games in the first round.

Season 86 was another decent season for each player. While Maloish failed to make the playoffs again, Strasmore was headed to the playoffs.
