  10. A day in the life of Spartan Last season Moscow applied a strategy that had them going into the season with a less than ideal roster, in the hopes of ending up stronger in the playoffs by adding someone better that costs less due to a percentage of the cap being done. This season, with the new changes, the Menace had an issue where they had too many older players with large contracts, so naturally some of them needed to go and make room for future players. Lets have a quick look at what happened on the 28th of March, as Moscows manager had quite the busy day. Trade 1: Toronto receives: Aurelien Moreau Paul Atreides Moscow receives: George Sanderson S83 TOR 2nd S84 TOR 1st The big one, the move that supplied Moscow with the capspace needed for their future deals. Now mentioning this trade is for cap space does not do either Moreau or Atreides justice, as they are juggernaughts really, players that can make any team better. So the new manager from Toronto does not hold back into molding his new team in a competitive shape. Coming to Moscow is defenseman George Sanderson, as a S81 draftee we hope that he will help the team stay reliable on defense in the near future. Trade 2: Now having cap space Spartan realized he had to act quickly, it currently is a market full of sellers but things might be harder when some of the more desirable players are off the board. Moscow receives: Jan Hlozek Los Angeles receives: S83 MOS 4th His first target being Jan Hlozek of the Los Angeles Stars. This regressing defenseman would help the Menace get some reliable veteran presence on the blueline. And all of that of the cost of just a 4th round pick. The Moscow GM mentioned that he had interest in acquiring Hlozek in the same draft year as he got Idaho and Atreides, but that the 7th overall pick was needed to bring both of the San Marino players in. Even though he missed out on Hlozek’s prime years, he still got him on the team for a much lower price. Trade 3: The third trade of the day was once again with Toronto: Toronto receives: S84 MOS 4th Moscow receives: Harkat Mulds This brings Harkat Mulds from the hylands player agency to Moscow, another agency with roots at Malmo, just like Idaho’s agency previously had a career Malmo player in Adrienne. Mulds is currently not active, but provides a nice extra player on offense. Trade 4: The fourth trade was once again with Los Angeles, you can see what gm’s had charged their phones: Moscow receives: Henri le Massif Los Angeles receives: Cooper Skambraks Eldon Escobar With le Massif the Menace bring another hitting forward on their team, or as the GM mentioned, a Duncan Idaho ‘light’ , with the winger Skambraks and center Escobar, the Los Angeles team further fills up their prospect pool for the future. Trade 5: The fifth trade of the day was with the DC Dragons and sent Brian Schmigel to Washington. Moscow receives: S83 DCD 4th D.C. receives: Brian Schmigel With the acquisition of both le Massif and Mulds, Schmigel was the odd one out and would be the 7th forward of the group, so he moves to DC for a chance at more playtime. All in all, quite the busy day for the Menace, as they simply could not keep Atreides and Moreau, I would say they did the best they could into sending a competitive team on the ice for the upcoming season. @Spartan
