With the season officially half-way done, the top teams and middle of the pack teams are pretty clear now, with Halifax, Yukon, and Minnesota being the front runners and San Diego (yuck), Saskatoon, Philadelphia, and Houston being close behind. Besides the Rush, who is a team that you think could be a big threat in the playoffs? 2. @Zetterberg has broken out to the extreme, being over 2 PPG and over a goal per game as well, hitting the 40 goal mark already. What do you think this guy ate to absolutely explode and hit his true potential? 3. If you could compare your player to an active NHL player, who would that be? 4. The Sabres won the NHL Lottery Draft. What sick cruel god would do this, and what are your thoughts on the Lottery? 5. What is the biggest purchase you've ever made on something just for yourself? 6. Controversial Opinion of the Week: I'm a huge fan of the music from the 40's (mostly due to cruising in the wasteland in Fallout 3 and New Vegas for hours on end), and I'll even blast it in the car when driving. WELCOME TO THE VHL! Heyo @Patty. My name is Juice, and I'm the General Manager of the Yukon Rush. Allow me to be one of the first to welcome you into the Victory Hockey League community. It can be a big and complicated place at first, but it's a fantastic little community we have here. Your career starts here, in the VHLM! Your first decision comes now as you get to choose where you start your minor league career! The Yukon Rush are gearing up for what looks like a serious championship run this season. We have a roster brimming with community veterans and we are just looking to add a couple more pieces to fill out the team. While we maxed out on forwards, we do still have room for one last defenseman. That's where you come in. To start your career here in the VHLM, we are offering you third pairing minutes. To be transparent here, let me explain the pros and cons. You could definitely play more minutes if you choose to sign with another team, but with that being said, the teams that offer you the top end minutes are not playoff-caliber teams. So it really comes down to what you want as a player. You will spend one season with whoever you choose, and then you will be sent into the VHLM Dispersal Draft next season. So if you are looking to get big minutes, we probably aren't the fit for you. But if you are looking to potentially get a Founder's Cup under your belt in your first ever season, sign with us! Not only will you have a shot at winning a title in Yukon, but our franchise also prides itself on taking newer users in the league and helping grow them into stars. There's a lot of details for you to learn and Yukon is the perfect place to learn. Aside from myself and AGM @fromtheinside who are very hands on, we also multiple other players in management, as well as multiple league commissioners on our team this season. Season 78 might be the wackiest season for me as a player and a GM, as on one hand I have a team that is quite dominant in the VHLM for my GM perspective, and a lackluster season in the VHL as a player on the Toronto Legion. For the Yukon Rush, we've come out of the gate insanely strong and kept up relatively good pace. We had an amazing start going almost 1/3 of the season with points in each of the games we had, and still at this point we are sitting pretty at 24-2-4, at a respectable 2nd in the league only behind the powerhouse that is Halifax. Where some teams might have a dominate core few, myself and @fromtheinsidebuilt a roster of depth with almost 9 players at a PPG pace with not a single person in the minus column for the +/- stat. At this point we know we're a cup contender, and although there's a few teams we need to be careful of, this season in all matters of the word has been a success so far both team wise as well on an individual level as a GM, as I could not ask for a better group (shoutout to @Beketovfor making us his ghouls, @jRuutuand the Finnish gang for making little Finland, and the Reinhart bros @Zetterbergand @MexicanCow123 for tearing it up both on the ice and in the LR) to have as just having them would make this season a success in of itself, but I want these guys to earn a cup as no one deserves it better. For the Toronto Legion, wow. What a strange season. To start out similar to the Rush going on a great run to become 1st in the Conference in the first 12 games, and then to come crashing down on an insane losing streak (seriously, how does a team go L12?) is quite insane to watch. I doubt this lasts all season, as something similar happened last season and we rebounded on a good winning streak to make the playoffs where we took the eventual champs to 6 games before we got bounced out. For a team where unbiasedly I thought we'd be a good contender for top in the regular season (that defensive core though ), my predictions are getting absolutely blasted, and on a team morale level I don't think it can be lower at this point. Overall, the season has me in such a weird state where I can both relax that my VHLM team is doing extremely well and then in the VHL it's pretty lackluster and disappointing thus far. Hopefully things turn for the better for the Legion, and things keep on cruising for the Rush, but S78 has been wacky as all can be. (465 words)
