  1. Here’s how I see it. Let’s just live sim. If you don’t want to live sim than you shouldn’t be simming. I’m not here to question anyone’s integrity but ending this argument is as simple as live simming. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem and everyone needs to stop acting like petty kindergarteners who can’t agree on anything. Live simming doesn’t sound hard and if you can’t make four clicks, then I don’t know how you can even sim. Nobody’s integrity will be questioned with live simming, if it’s streamed and people can see that there is integrity. People declining to live sim just makes people question what is going on and they deserve transparency. So give it to them. Then we can all stop with the freaking drama.
  2. I’m about to catch up with Trevor Wallace on his first regular season in the VHL (sorry for any bad formatting, I’m on my phone on a notes app to write this). TW denotes Trevor is speaking, a Q simply denotes my question. Q: Trevor, would you call this season a success? TW: We’re in the playoffs, representing a great city. What couldn’t be a success? Q: You guys haven’t gone all the way yet? Will you go on the way? TW: This is a team that can go all the way, I have faith in us and we will go all the way. Q: How would you describe this season for you individually? TW: A great introduction to VHLM and more will come next year. Q: How do you feel about the people of Miami TW: They’re great and I’m glad to know they’re supporting us. If we could win this for them, it would feel like repaying the debt I owe to them for being so good to me. Q: Well, good luck Trevor and I hope to see you hoisting that Trophy!
  3. 1.) We got it, we can bounce back and make a run... all the way. 2.) Yeah, it’s only gonna get better 3.) Dawson, ngl I haven’t checked recently but something tells me he’s gonna do something 4.) We are gonna go for the cup, no question. 5.) Kamala Harris, probably because I’m reading her autobiography right now 6.) Nothing, luckily.
  4. I’ll probably write a longer piece for after the playoffs, but I desperately need something to write about, and I’m in a cabin by a National Lakeshore with only my phone and no computer (so sorry for formatting issues if they arise) anyways, here it goes. As you may or may not know I was selected in the third round by Ricer when I had coughs 68 TPE with 45 in leadership, yeah not so good. But I guess I nailed by interview and a friend of mine put in a good word for me, so I guess I just got lucky. Miami had made me feel so welcome and at home. Whenever I need someone, everyone there is there for me and I try to do the same for others because of how much they have done for me. I’m a Detroit sports fan. The Lions went 0-16 once upon a time, Quinntrica was ruining the team throughout this year, the Pistons have struggled and the Red Wings have been horrific. Yet still everyone somehow has a way of making me feel better about even the small things in life like those sports teams. Now to the hockey stuff, my first game I was able to get first star and was elated. I never dreamed that my... low TPE player could actually make an impact in the first game, I thought I’d have to wait out the season and hope for the best. But nope, Trevor Wallace was able to make an impact thankfully. I then proceeded to get my Junior Review done and eventually hit 100 TPE and the first gen bonus that week got me as one of the highest earners for that week, which helped a lot. Then came a season in which I never replicated that first game but had a decent season. My points never caught up to my games played during the regular season but Miami had a good season, and like I told Ricer and many others during my pre-dispersal draft interviews, I want to help the team win. I’m not all about those individual accomplishments, don’t get me wrong those are great but when the team thrives we all thrive. And I truly do believe in those words. This season I learned that VHL isn’t just about creating a player and seeing what they can do, it’s about a sense of community, belonging and getting to know others who you share a passion with. If there’s one bright spot in this pandemic for me it’s that I’ve found people who truly have helped me and I’ve become friends with. From friends at school, to friends on random discord servers, to friends made on U2 forums to the people right here in VHL. So thank you for being a part of that and making these crazy times a little better. Sorry if that sounded like a rant, but I felt like I had to get that out, thanks again everyone (especially those of you in the Miami locker room, go Marauders!) —- Trevor Wallace 506 Words
  5. Wow, amazing! Great work on this. This is terrific!
  6. Ignore this message, I was gonna delete it because it didn't make sense, but I can't delete it
  7. 1-1.  How many times does Miami have to go 1-1 on the day????

  8. 1-1, are we destined to go 1-1 daily forever?
  9. Might need to figure out something for another mid-season article, but that sounds like a great idea!
  10. Miami has been struggling a lot recently with defenseman. Our only defenseman above 100TPE at the time had to be cut a few weeks ago due to inactivity and yeah... we've resorted to having to have a winger play defenseman a bit. That's just how VHLM rolls I guess. Overall though, VHLM has been amazing. I've gotten tips from my GM and have been able to really have a great time because of my teammates in Miami, and all of those who are in the Miami locker room. Everyone there has been amazing. And winning helps a lot, though we apparently can't count very well (we haven't broken 400 yet). My player itself has gotten a lot better recently, seriously putting in work to get TPE really helps. My stats have gone up all because of writing things like this. Though, I regret putting any TPE in discipline. So, thank you everyone who has helped me, and go Miami! --- 159 Words
  11. I joined back right before the VHLM S76 Dispersal Draft. When I joined, I was confused about what to do. A friend had invited me and none of this made sense. Now I'm having a great time in Miami and understand everything, here's how I got there... The First Day When I first joined it was a Sunday. The first thing I did, was what I think everyone does first, I created my player. I named him based on two jokes from my robotics team and saw that VHL had right-wingers as the position with the least people, so I created a right-winger. Had I looked at the draft class more, I would've definitely been a defenseman, which there was a run on in the draft due to a loss of them. I then went to play saxophone and snuck my computer up to my room with me, so I could figure out what the heck this VHL thing was. The first thing I did, look at the Earning TPE section of the rulebook. I immediately saw that this thing called practice existed, and I had my first 2 TPE. Then looking through, I didn't want to figure out any of these tasks but this thing called "welfare" looked easy, so I claimed it, applied it, and then went to bed. The First Week Well, the night before was the last night of the week. When I got on the forum in the morning during class, because I was fully virtual. An off-season schedule appeared to be posted, so I looked at it, saw the date of the VHLM draft, and decided to get right to work on a graphic. It was probably my second worst people, but apparently, people thought it was good and that I did some logo and color swapping (breaking news, I just took a transparent image of a hockey player and copied and pasted it). It was, meh honestly. But it was a graphic nonetheless and I got what I wanted, that precious 6 capped TPE. Then, I saw a draft class ranking for the S77 VHL draft, and I was in a decent spot. This was a further motivator for me to get even better, and get more TPE. My next graphic was horrific and was a VHL.com graphic. Let's just say that it looked like a kindergartener made it, I have no clue why I was proud of it at the time. It was around this time that I got my first interview with a team from none other than my future gm, @Ricer13 I'll go more in-depth with lessons on this and other stuff later. I got tasks done before the draft and got more interviews done, I was more proud of some than others but that's just the way it goes. The Draft Somehow, some random American 68TPE players called Trevor Wallace ended up going in the late third-rounder. I was not expecting that whatsoever, but I wasn't gonna complain, in fact, I was ecstatic and was ready to get to work. Though the commentators for the draft were wondering what the heck @Ricer13 was doing drafting me. So what? I just needed to prove them wrong. VHLM Well, once I got drafted, I dm'd my good friend @Viperxhawks19 who invited me to the Miami locker room before @Ricer13 even got a chance to. A quick note: @Viperxhawks19 had helped me throughout my first few weeks and I'm forever grateful to him, so thanks Viper. Anyways, the Miami locker room was amazing. @Ricer13 was always so helpful whenever I had a question on my build and what to upgrade, or just wanted to figure out how our team was looking. The rest of my Miami teammates have been great to talk to so far and have provided support when need be. The whole team really has been great to me, so to those newcomers... once you get drafted VHL really gets amazing. Anyways, in my first game, I was the first star, that had me over the moon. Though I didn't do much in our second game. Then came the time where I was moved up to the first line, while my TPE remained low, I had little to no production. Though as weeks came and went and my TPE went up I made more and more of a contribution and am now feeling very good about my build and my player (aside from those couple of TPE in leadership). Lessons Learned So, what'd I learn from all of this and what would I do differently. Honestly, I would've had better draft interviews. As I look back at my Miami draft interview while writing this piece I'm cringing at how short some of the answers are, and I'm honestly wondering what Ricer looks for in these answers because mine were shorter than I honestly think they should've been. Another note is that having a contact in the league is great, @Viperxhawks19 as mentioned above helped me a lot, I believe he might've actually put in a good word for me when it comes to some teams and that meant a lot because with him I might not even know what a media spot is right now. Also, DO NOT PUT TPE IN LEADERSHIP. If you're reading this as a newcomer, I highly suggest that you do not put TPE in there and read a bit about builds before just going willy-nilly and putting TPE wherever you want. Seriously, if you look back at your player and see TPE in leadership you want to, and you will cringe at yourself. Finally, I want to address the importance of making sure to get tasks done and setting yourself apart. There are certain things that a gm will look at in a draft and I think that when it came to drafting me, @Ricer13 thought I could be a hard worker. I hope it was at least, or else he seriously ought to figure out a better strategy for drafting players, because 68TPE doesn't seem too attractive at all. Anyways, make sure to get every single task done, average 12 capped TPE a week, and do not join on a Sunday, or if you do, send me a message please, so I can hopefully help explain everything to you and you can get that 12TPE all done in one day! --- 1064 words Claiming for the weeks ending on 2/7/21 and 2/14/21
  12. I figured we ought to have some sort of Super Bowl thread, so here we go
  13. 1.) Yes, it's definitely possible with all of our loses. 2.) Dawson, for sure 3.) Maybe make a trade of a pick for a playmaker, I dunno 4.) Bit late for this one, but I would've expected 4. 5.) 2. A Sheepdog and a Schnoodle. 6.) Lions. We're coming for your kneecaps with Jared Goff.
  14. I'm all in. ELO is 683 but I've only played two games (2-0)
  15. I just had the opportunity to speak with Trevor Wallace, yet again. If you don't know who Wallace is, I wouldn't be too surprised. So, a brief summary. Wallace is a right-winger on the first line for the Miami Marauders. His best game was without a doubt his first game (when he was on second line) in which he scored a goal and got an assist. Ever since that game he's had some ups and some downs. So, here's Trevor Wallace (R denotes reporter speaking and TW denotes Trevor Wallace) R: So, Trevor I'm going to start with the obvious question, what'd it feel like to score your first goal? TW: Amazing, there's nothing like the first time that the puck goes into the back of the net. At first, I figured the shot'd been saved but when my teammates came over and gave me a pat on the back, I know it was real. R: And the first assist? TW: Even better, knowing that I had just given someone a goal and a memorable moment is a great feeling. R: You guys recently cut who many consider to be your best defensemen due to inactivity, any thoughts on this? TW: It had to be done, but it was sad. We'll get right back up however and make sure to win the Founders Cup! I mean, look at S74 Miami, nobody thought that'd happen. R: Thanks Trevor. TW: Of course, it's great to talk! And that was an interview with Trevor Wallace of the Miami Marauders!

  17. 1) Not just keep it up, but excel it. 2.) If I'm gonna be completely honest... me. I did not expect to be scoring and getting assists with line one minutes at 80-90 TPE. 3.) Philly, simply bc I wanna beat them. 4.) A bit, considering it's one of the few stats that have been alright for me and boosts my ego 5.) 5'7" 6.) Valentines Day, it's pointless as a kid.
  18. Trevor Wallace - From Disregarded to High School Stardom My love for hockey started as a kid. When I was a kid my dad and I always used to turn on Red Wings games and see how they were doing. It was amazing. From there, I went to playing hockey as a kid. It was just some small youth hockey but I dominated on the right wing. I constantly found myself winding up putting the puck past the goalie and into the net. Those were great times. High school hockey was even better. Grand Rapids Christan gave me a scholarship to play hockey there, and because it was close to home I accepted. In high school I was elite. As a freshman, I got second-line minutes and did alright. I got a few goals but as a freshman, my team just didn't see a reason to give me the puck. This definitely saddened me but it just got me to work harder. I showed up to practice early and stayed late every single day. Whether it was skating more, improving puck handling, shooting the puck, or just working out in the weight room, I was there doing it constantly. As a sophomore, I was still on line two, but from day one you could tell that I had a chance to be great if I kept working. I know that it sounds cliche but hard work really does pay off. I led the OK conference in +/- and came in the top thirty for goals. My coach (Coach Anthony) didn't want to put me on the first line simply because I was a sophomore, this ticked me off, but I held my tongue. After all, it was my job to try to be a leader even though I was a sophomore the whole team admired me. Then came my junior year... line one at last. That year I actually dished the puck out quite a bit. I came in third in the OK conference in both assists and goals and lead in +/-. And guess what... we we're in the Michigan High School playoffs. We actually made it to the finals after I scored an overtime game-winner in the semifinals, but there we ended our state championship aspirations. And honestly, that really made me want to win it next year. I had made so many friends, especially in my class and I wanted to give them a championship. And well... let me tell you about my senior year. First of all the stats. Tenth in Michigan in assists and first in goals scored and +/-. My lines were lethal that year. We made it to the state championship and well I scored in a tied game with twenty seconds left and we won. I was elated. Then came time to prepare for the VHLM Dispersal draft. So I had to do some interviews, and I got a pleasant draft day surprise and went to Miami in the third round, go Marauders!

  21. Today, I got a chance to have a great chat with Trevor Wallace while I was down in Miami. After calling him last week I decided I should see how he's doing down in Florida and how he was liking Miami. Quick reminder: an R denotes that I'm talking and a TW denotes Trevors words. R: Trevor, first of all, how are you liking Miami so far? TW: It's great. My teammates are amazing, the front office is amazing and I'm really glad that they took a chance on me. R: Speaking of taking a chance on you, what do you say to those who think that Miami took you too early in the draft. TW: They're what fuels me, every day during practice I think about proving them wrong. Honestly, I don't know where I'd be without them. This season I'm going to grow more because of them. So I guess I ought to thank them. R: Do you think that you need to prove anything to yourself? TW: I think if I work hard, I can become one of the greats, all it takes is work. R: Thank you for your time Trevor.
