  7. The Debut: After crashing to earth at the beginning of Season 85, Mac Atlas signed with the electrifying Miami Marauders in the VHLM. They managed to squeeze in 14 games at the end of the season with Atlas slotted into 3rd line centre minutes. The young phenom atlas notched a respectable 3 goals, 8 assists, which was good for 11 points. Not quite the point per game stat line scouts had hoped for, however still solid. Atlas also threw the body quite a bit in his debut, recording 19 hits. After the short stint in Miami, Atlas declared for the VHLM draft, opting to skip the VHLE which many consider to be a setback league, far removed from any proper VHL development. Mac's agent advised he would be better off proving himself to VHL scouts with the opportunity to showcase his skillset playing a full season in the VHLM. Ottawa Bound: Without any hesitation or surprise, Atlas was drafted 1st overall in the VHLM draft by the Ottawa Lynx. Ottawa, who stumbled through a bit of a management transition between the end of S85, and the S86 draft, were still unanimously on board for taking Mac Atlas with their cherished first selection. After being selected, Mac seemed as poised as ever and eager to lead a young Lynx team back into contention and show VHL scouts that he really has what it takes. Scout Talk: From what has been observed thus far of Mac Atlas, it is clear that his skill derives mainly from immense strength and physicality. Atlas is a force on the ice, and his frame makes it especially hard to knock him off the puck. You can normally find Atlas dominating down low, creating screens and using his physicality to take defenders out of the picture. Another positive aspect of Atlas' game would be his ability to create time and not just dump and chase like many traditional coaches/players still like to preach. His poise with the puck is otherworldly and he displays incredible patience while waiting for team mates to jump up or plays to develop. One knock against his game however, that many scouts are unanimous on are his discipline. Right now Atlas is showing minimal discipline, always retaliating and instigating violence on the ice. This can be unlearned however, and as Atlas is new to the league this is definitely a hindrance to his overall presence on the ice and can have severe negative impact for the outcome of a game. This trait also can be damaging to team spirit. Overall scouts view Mac Atlas as a physical, offensive threat and think he can easily be one of the best power forwards in the Season 87 VHL draft if he cleans up his act this season.
