  2. The Rome Gladiators offer a one season contract extension to LeBen Aky @Ben_Reformed.
  3. @Jason kranz Welcome everyone, We are back for another VSN article and this time we will look at something that is often under looked. Indeed, the first few rounds are always popular, but the late rounds are more than often left out. This is why we will be looking at the best player from the last round of each VHLE drafts between S81 and S90. Since all the drafts don’t all have the same number of rounds, sometimes it will be the 5th, the 6th, the 7th or even the 8th round. So, here are the best players from the last round of each VHLE drafts between S81 and S90: S81 – Gus Bentley – 66th overall by the Bratislava Watchmen The end of the draft in S81 was a little bit weird, because the draft went to the 8th round, but only two picks out of the ten in the last round were used to pick a player. All the other picks were passed. Since, none of the two players drafted in the 8th round reached the VHLE, I decided to use the second-to-last round only for this draft, which was the 7th round. Three players of the 7th round reached the VHLE including Gus Bentley @boatsinking123, CDS Leb @CDS_Leb and Daniel Clarke @Danzo. Gus Bentley was definitely the most successful of them all as he won two Reconnaissance Cup in S83 with the Bratislava Watchmen and in S85 with the Oslo Storm. In the regular season, Bentley scored 56 goals and added 62 assists for a total of 118 points in 216 games from S83 to S85. S82 – Minou Lambert – 52nd overall by the Bratislava Watchmen In S82, the VHLE entry draft went to the 7th round and four players that were drafted in this last round reached the VHLE, Anton Bielas @Shawner40, Minou Lambert @Minoulambert23, Freddy Freeze @G_Rush and Shawn Young @shaun1979. All around, they had pretty similar career, so it is hard to decided which one was the best, but Minou Lambert has higher numbers mainly because he had a longer career in the VHLE. In 281 games from S83 to S88, he had 58 goals, 105 assists and a total of 163 points. S83 – Brodie Landry III – 52nd overall by the Istanbul Red Wolves Once again, the S83 VHLE draft went to the 7th round and four players played in the VHLE after being draft in the last round, Brodie Landry III @Brodie_Landry, barry bigman @barryst, Juhnu Anttonen @Juhnuxand Alexandre Forgues @Alex99. Out of all of them, Brodie Landry III is definitely the best player as he won two Renaissance Cup with the Oslo Strom in S85 and S86. Originally draft by Istanbul and then traded to Oslo before the start of his VHLE career, Landry III played with the Storm his entire VHLE career from S85 to S87. He had a record of 32 goals and 138 assists for a total of 170 points in 216 games as a defenceman. S84 – Pierre Emile Bouchard – 43rd overall by the Stockholm Vikings Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito and Evan Bihler @Eb14 are the only two players that were draft in the last round of the S84 VHLE draft and made it to the VHLE. Evan Bihler had an incredible career in the VHLE as he won the Orion D H Chiester IX Trophy for the top goalie and the Ronan Lavelle for the MVP of the regular season, both in S89 with the Istanbul Red Wolves. However, what is really impressive about Pierre Emile Bouchard’s pick is that he was almost already a capped player (398 TPE) when he got drafted. This means that he should have been a first round pick normally. S85 – Henry Eagles – 47th overall by the Bratislava Watchmen The S85 draft went to the 6th round, but this time only one player made the VHLE after being drafted in the last round and his name is Henry Eagles @Greg_Di. If you look at the stats (11g, 14a) of his only season in the VHLE, you say to yourself that you understand why he was a 47th pick overall, but when you look at his number of TPE (385) when Bratislava drafted him, you start to wonder why he got drafted so low in the draft. Indeed, Eagles is currently in the VHL, and he is having a pretty good career. S86 – Keon Jeannot – 46th overall by the Cologne Express S86 had a really good last round as five out of the eight players drafted in the 6th round made the VHLE one day, Keon Jeannot @Lucas anton, Fuukka Rask @Jubis, Timothy Swearingen @Timmy30, Ross Glagau @Zetterberg and antonio marchand @Tapirman. Even if they all had great careers in the VHLE, we can say that Keon Jeannot had a bit of a better one as he won the Renaissance Cup in S89 with the Cologne Express. In two seasons with Cologne (S88 and S89), Jeannot scored 46 goals and added 54 assists for a total of 100 points in 144 games. S87 – Nick Sansoe – 36th overall by the Istanbul Red Wolves The S87 VHLE entry draft only had five rounds and three players made it out of the VHLM, Skor McFleury @Alex, Vasteras Iron Eagles legend Mac Atlas @v.2 and Nick Sansoe @Tipskid97. However, only Nick Sansoe played in the VHLE during his career. He had an average first season in S89 with the Istanbul Red Wolves before playing with the London United in the VHL in S90. He came back in the VHLE for another season in S91, this time with the Rome Gladiators, and he destroyed everything in the league, with a record of 44 goals and 50 assists for a total of 94 points. S88 – Davis McLirath – 45th overall by the Geneva Rush The 6th and last round of the S88 VHLE entry draft was not an incredible one. Indeed, only Davis McLirath @Try_Me678 played in the VHLE at some point in his career. He played 72 games in S90 with the Oslo Storm, and he had 6 goals, 13 assists and 19 points. S89 – Baby Moo Moo – 39th overall by the Cologne Express Four out of the eight players drafted in the 5th round of the S89 draft eventually played in the VHLE, Baby Moo Moo @Elvis, Med @Med, Bryce tyrone Johnson @BryceP and Miroslav @Zyrok. All of them are still in the VHLE and are going on with their career, but only one of them won something in this league. Indeed, Baby Moo Moo won the Renaissance Cup in S90 and S91 with the Cologne Express. S90 – Vladimir Kozlov – 47th overall by the Oslo Storm The S90 draft class is still very young, so zero player of the 8th round played in the VHLE at this moment. However, Vladimir Kozlov @vladbatton is currently on the roster of the Oslo Strom and is expected to play in the VHLE in S92. Trey Daniels @Tdan04 is another player who is close to play in the VHLE. Thanks everyone for reading, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and see you in another VSN article.
  4. The Rome Galdiators offer a one season contract extension to BjorkaBjorn BjornaBjorkson. @JardyB10
  5. 1. Toronto without a doubt, and I am not saying that because my player plays for Toronto lol. 2. I would say Arizona is the team that's suprising me the most. Indeed, they are currently in a playoff position. 3. Tough to answer that, but where I am from, there is a company named Vachon that does little cake and my favorite is probably the caramilk. It is a little cake with caramel inside and covered in chocolate.
  6. @v.2 Welcome everyone, Another end to the regular season, another start of the playoffs and of course another VHLE playoff preview. Once again, the four teams that made the playoffs this season are all good teams and everyone single of them could win the Cup at the end of the current playoffs. So, let’s start with the predictions! Semi-final #1 – Vasteras Iron Eagles (1) vs Stockholm Vikings (4) Regular season series: STO wins 8-6-0 Exactly like last season, the Vasteras Iron Eagles finished the season first in the league and won the King’s Cup for the best regular season record with 94 points. The Iron Eagles are also the favorites to win the Renaissance Cup and with their disastrous playoffs last season, they have everything to prove this season. Led by Eno Velvson @Nykonax, Leif Reingaard @Zetterberg and Ellis Woolfenden @D3X, Vasteras finished with the second-best offense in the regular season. They also had the best defense in the league thanks to Callum Gary Yannick Janser @Daniel Janser, Winston Dixon Jr @Rjdixon01 and Karl Herzlich @LastGoon007 in the net. Even if the Vasteras Iron Eagles are a powerhouse, the Stockholm Vikings are not a bad team, and they are not to be neglected. Indeed, the Vikings sure can score, as Spanish Moon Moth @Renomitsu, Chris Sanzone @handfullofbubba and Grimgor Ironhide @FrostBeard finished second, third and fourth respectively in the league for the most points with 92, 86 and 82 points. They were also pretty good defensively, because of the help of Bryce tyrone Jonhson @BryceP, Celise Pereira @asteria and Olober Syko @Spartan in the net. When you look at it, Vasteras has the advantage, but Stockholm has the assets to cause a surprise, so this series is going to be an exciting one. The predictions: Vasteras in 6 games Semi-final #2 – Cologne Express (2) vs Rome Gladiators (3) Regular season series: ROM wins 8-4-2 After an incredible final of the Renaissance Cup between the two teams last season and a heartbreaking defeat for the Rome Gladiators after leading the series 3-1, Rome will probably look to take their revenge and it promises to be a very interesting series. Cologne finished the regular season with the best offense of the league and Anthony Simmons @Starchychaff, Jordan Bennett @Plate and Joshua Schwarzer @Velevra were a big part of that achievement. On the other hand, Rome finished the regular season with the second-best defense and if we take away the games with their back-up, the Gladiators would probably have had the best defensive team in the league. Indeed, Rome can count on Sunset Moth @McWolf, Tyler Swift @lilchrist and Dalkr Vidarsson @KaleebtheMighty who probably was the best goalie during the regular season. Both teams are pretty even when you compare them on paper, so it’s all going to come down on the ice. The predictions: Rome in 7 games. Final – Vasteras Iron Eagles (1) vs Rome Gladiators (3) Regular season series: VAS wins 7-5-2 As you can see with the regular season series, both teams won 7 games against the other one this season, so you can already tell that it is going to be a very tight series. On one hand, we have a really good offensive team in the Vasteras Iron Eagles that proved that they can easily score a lot of goals. On the other hand, we have a team that before their back-up’s games was the best defensive team in the league. Led by their goalie Dalkr Vidarsson who is leading the league in wins (39), save percentage (0.942%) and the average of goals against (2.09) among the starters. We are going to have a really competitive final, but I think Vasteras as a little advantage. The predictions: Vasteras in 7 games Thanks everyone for reading, I wish you all good luck in the playoffs, and see you in another VSN article.
  7. 1. Everyone played really good and even if, on paper, we don't have the best defense in the league, we were great in our own zone. 2. At the time of writing these lines, we aree only three point behind LA, so I believe we will overtake them. 3. It will be very though, but I believe in him and I know he can do a lot of great things. 4. I live in Quebec, so I don't really celebrate Thanksgiving, it would probably be a meat pie (I am not sure if it is even a Thanksgiving dish) 5. There is only one answer here and it is : All I want for Christmas is you. 6. Again, only one good asnwer, Strawberry jam
  8. thanks @rory for the trade talks and welcome back @JardyB10. Let's win a Cup this time!
  9. @Zetterberg Welcome everyone, In the history of the VHLE, we saw a lot of great GM that were able to assemble good team and lead them to the Renaissance Cup, but there is one of them that we can say did it better than everybody else. You guest it, I am talking about @JB123. He was hired as the third VHLE GM of the Oslo Storm in S83 and he resigned form his position at the end of S89. When JB was hired at the start of S83, the Oslo Storm were a rebuilding team and there was not a lot of things he could have done to change that immediately. Indeed, Oslo only had five forwards, one defenseman and one goalie on their roster. They finished the regular season second to last in the league with a record of 21 wins, 43 losses and 8 losses in overtime for a total of 50 points in 72 games. In S84, the Oslo Storm once again had a really bad season and this time they finished the regular season last in the league with 25 wins, 40 losses and 7 losses in overtime for a total of 57 points in 72 games. Unlike the previous season, JB completed a lot of trade in S84. Indeed, one of them was a trade with the Istanbul Red Wolves where he acquired Brodie Landry III @Brodie_Landryand three picks that were used to draft Chip Stone @DoktorFunk, Lorenzo Cobberson @Hendrix Cobbersonand Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide. Landry III, Cobberson and Kauppi each won at least one Renaissance Cup with Oslo in S85 or S86. In total, JB123 completed three trades in S84, acquiring eleven assets (players or picks) and eight of them have become champions of the Renaissance Cup with the Oslo Storm in S85 or S86. S85 was the first time the Oslo Storm made the playoffs in their VHLE history. They had a really good regular season, and they finished first in the league with a record of 48 wins, 19 losses and 5 overtime losses for a total of 101 points in 72 points. At the trade deadline, JB acquired two defensemen that would win a total of three Cups with the Storm. Indeed, Quinn Clark @axtronwon the Renaissance Cup in S85 and in S86 and Babushka @BrutalBoostwon it in S85. When we interviewed the former Oslo GM, he mentioned that he believes it was his best move, because « it solidified [their] defense that season while providing [them] a cornerstone on defense in Clark for the future ». In the playoffs, the Oslo Storm faced the Vasteras Iron Eagles in the first round and won the series in six games to participate in their first VHLE playoffs final. In the final, the Storm won the series and their first Renaissance Cup in their history against the Cologne Express in six games. In addition, JB won his first Thadius Sales Trophy awarded to the best general manager. Unlike in S85, in S86 the Oslo Storm did not dominate the regular season and they finished fourth in the standings with 40 wins, 25 losses, 7 losses in overtime and a total of 87 points in 72 games. At the beginning of the season, the Storm made the acquisition of Sunglasses Joyo @JetsGoalie101, who ended up being a really important player for the entire S86, for only a 3rd round pick. At the trade deadline, JB acquired Rhys Trenton @DeeGoatand Vinny Lecavalier @Spartakiller2that both played their part in the S86 conquest of the Renaissance Cup. Since the team finished fourth in the regular season, they had to play a best of 3 against the Istanbul Red Wolves to decide which team would play in the first round. Oslo finally won the series in two little games. However, the first round was not going to be an easy one, because the Storm faced the team that had the best regular season record in the history of the VHLE, the Cologne Express. It was supposed to be a walk in the park for Cologne, but after only six games, the Oslo Storm caused one of the biggest surprises ever seen in the VHLE and defeated the winners of the King’s Cup. In the final, after being down 3-1 in the series against the Rome Gladiators, the Oslo Storm caused another surprise and defeated Rome 4-3 to become the first team to win two Renaissance Cup in their VHLE history. When we questioned JB about his favorite Renaissance Cup, he said that even if they were all special, he had to go with S86, because they « started that season off at the bottom of the league and won three playoffs rounds, including one against the best VHLE team ever ». Once again, the Oslo Storm made the playoffs in S87, but this time they finished second in the league with 49 wins, 21 losses and 2 overtime losses for a total of 100 points in 72 games. Just like the last three seasons, JB made some big acquisitions like Halvar Torbjorn @Rayzor_7and Nicholas Blue @lidzthat help the team in S87. He also traded for players like Keno Akara @Keno, Braeden Panarella @ThatCasualand Rip Wheeler @ScottyPthat were part of the team that won the Renaissance Cup in S88. For a third season in a row, the Oslo Storm made it to the final after defeating the Stockholm Vikings in seven games. However, they did not win a third Renaissance Cup in a row, and they lost to the Cologne Express in seven games. Even if they did not win the Cup, JB won his second Thadius Sales Trophy. S88 was yet again another successful season for the Oslo Storm as they finished third in the standings with a record of 42 wins, 22 losses and 8 losses in overtime for a total of 92 points in 72 games. At the trade deadline, JB made a trade with the Vasteras Iron Eagles to acquire three players that were a big part of the S88 Renaissance Cup victory, Alexander Stroheim @Stroheim, Nagy AL @bigALand Wiley Blanchette @Wiley. In the playoffs, the Oslo Storm made the final of the Renaissance Cup for the fourth time in a row after defeating the Cologne Express 4-3 in the first round and they also won their third Cup in four years after winning the final series 4-2 to the Rome Gladiators. For a fifth season in a row, Oslo made the playoffs in the VHLE thanks to their fourth place in the standings and their record of 44 wins, 23 losses and 5 overtime losses for a total of 93 points in 72 games. However, this time it was not a long run as they lost in three games to the Rome Gladiators in the best of 3 series. This was also the last season of JB as the GM of the Oslo Storm. During his time with the Storm, JB123 won three Renaissance Cup in S85, S86 and S88, and he won two Thadius Sales Trophy for the top general manager in S85 and S87. We had the chance to interview JB a couple of days ago and when we asked him about how he felt about being one of the best GM in the history of the VHLE, he said that « there’s been a number of great GMs throughout the history of the VHLE and to be considered as one of them is an honor ». JB also mentioned that the best thing he did was, with the help of @KRZY, to install a winning culture and to turn the team around even if it took a couple seasons. In addition, JB wanted to say that even if there were still a lot of anti-VHLE sentiments in the VHL, he is always going to believe that with the GM and the right people working together, the league can succeed. Finally, when we asked him if there was a chance that we would see him again in a GM position, he clearly said that he would like to return to GMing and that he wants to make the transition to the VHL. That’s all for me. I would like to personally thanks JB for the interview and for everything he did for the VHLE. Also, thanks for reading and see you in another article.
  10. 1. I have a lot of goals, because I want to prove that I am one of the best defenseman in the league. My main goal would be to finish top 10 in points among the defensemen. 2. Not only we are going to make the playoffs, I believe we have a chance to win the Cup this season. 3. I mainly continued to work on my offensive side of the game, but I still want to be good in my own zone.
