  1. I couldn’t really think of anything to write so I’m gonna write about LA’s disappointingly unlucky season they’ve had . While on paper the Stars look like they should be a relatively competitive team . This season has been the complete opposite whether it’s bad bounces or poor sim luck the Stars Can’t catch a break or get anything going consistently. On the backend LA has one of the better defence cores in the VHL with 3 players early into their career’s . Callum Murray @Berocka Scoish Velociraptor Maloish @youloser1337 and Brain Kowalski @Wheaties (each of whom earn at a very good rate ) and Poopy Peepants @JardyB10who rounds out the d core although he will be retiring at the end of this season . With these 4 defenders on the roster LA the Stars have managed put together a solid top 4 for this season and seasons to come . Give it some time and this will be one of the best defence cores I’d not the best defence core in the VHL . Much like on the Backend the Stars have one of the best up and coming goalies in Art Vandalay @Gustav . He’s an exceptional goalie and will be one of the best for a long time to come , this season has just been a nightmare all around for him and the Stars in general. On offence the Stars lack firepower other then Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems @FrostBeardthey really don’t have any big name forwards . Yes they have some up and coming guys that will be big pieces moving forward but for the time being they will have to solely rely on Miglaskems to shoulder majority of the offensive load . DB lll and rookie Todd Cooke have both had some success in stretches this season but like most of the team they’ve struggled to stay consistent all year around . Give them some time and DB and Cooke along with the other young guns will help Miglaskems lead the offence and hopefully turn LA into an offensive powerhouse in the future . Now while I think this season was largely underwhelming considering how close the Stars were to making the playoffs last season . I do think there’s a lot of positives and things to look forward too in the coming seasons . First off the Season 84 draft class is shaping up to be very important in shaping the future of this team as each core piece is developing extremely well . Also a few Rookies have gotten games this season and a taste of what it takes to play in the VHL . @InstantRockstarhas done a lot to try to claw and dig out of this predicament and I wholeheartedly believe that if there’s one person that can turn it around for the Stars it’s him . The pieces are there it’ll just take a few more in the right places and some fine tuning to get there . Coming into the fold next season Alexander Minion @UnknownMinionSunglasses Joyo @JetsGoalie101 And Sebastian Dokis @Sebastienjust to name a few are the next crop of young guns looking help this team take the next step . In closing yes it’s been a disappointing season for the Stars but they have the pieces on their roster and coming up in the next few seasons to build a competitive roster that I truly believe will compete for championships for seasons to come . It’s just going to take a little bit of patience and faith from everyone in the organization . One way or another they will get there ! Im happy to be in LA and I look forward to us being a top team for seasons to come the future is bright here!
  2. With Christmas right around the corner LA Stars rookie Todd Cooke is hoping he can up his current rate of production with the stars. Cooke has shown flashes of brilliance this season but hasn’t stayed nearly consistent enough . Cooke expects more of himself each and every night , whether it’s contributing on the scoresheet or on the ice any way he can . Yes the Stars have struggled to find their game this season and you could contribute that to Cooke’s struggles aswell. But as a whole there’s a lot of work needed to be done to continually grow and improve Cooke’s game . Cooke was recently asked what he wanted for Christmas. His response was short and sweet “ team success and individual success and growth” . The standard that Cooke holds himself too is both a blessing and a curse . As it helps him maintain his rate of tpe earning . But he also puts a ridiculous amount of pressure on himself when he and his team aren’t performing. Or in the position they should be in . Lets hope Cooke gets his Christmas Wish !
  3. Oslo Storm Press Conference week ending 18/12/2022 1. The playoff race is heating up and closer then ever , how can we create some separation? 2. Up to this point of the season what’s been our biggest strength as a team ? 3. what’s been our biggest weakness ? 4. Would you rather score an OT winner or save a goal in OT ? 5. who do you got taking the fifa World Cup ? 6. Would you rather travel with the team on a bus or plane ?
  4. Game 402 recap Toronto vs New York this game was a very one sided affair despite the shot total being close the Americans went a perfect 7 for 7 on the PK taking that momentum and cruising to a 7-1 victory. The Americans were the better team all night with 9 players registering at least a point and 5 with 2 or more . The Americans made a statement with this win here tonight !
  5. Game 411 recap this game had Riga taking on Helsinki for a game featuring the 2 last place teams in the euro conference this game sure didn’t disappoint. A back and forth game all night . Both teams put up the shots and controlled the tempo at various points . At the end of regulation they were tied 2-2 . Overtime proved to be much of the same story with niether team giving much up . It would take a shootout to decide this one and Nic McMuffin scoring in the first round giving the Titans the win !
  6. In issue number 2 of Cooke’s rookie diary we look at the inconsistency that has hampered LA Stars rookie Center Todd Cooke . Cooke came into this season a highly touted prospect and rookie from the season 84 draft class . So far his rookie season has been left a lot to be desired . Cooke might be top 11 in the rookie scoring race but the expectations and pressure he put on himself coming into this season far exceed his performance so far . Cooke has had good stretches he just hasn’t fully brought everything together and stayed consistent. As he improves and progresses in his career you can be certain that he will improve and hopefully one day exceed the expectations he set out for himself on the draft day in S84 . For now he will continue his rookie season hoping to build on everything he’s learnt thus far and continue to grow and develop into the player he knows he can become .
  7. I’m currently on my 4 the season with my first generation player Todd Cooke and quite honestly I found something I enjoy , I love the community. I love being able to see my player grow from year to year and work towards goals I set . So far as I sit here and look back my first gen experience has been awesome I’ve learned a ton about STHS and player builds , as well as the management aspect of the league . Let’s take and in depth look at how I came here and what I’ve done to get to where I am today . I found out about VHL rather unexpectedly I was watching a “Rob Talks Hockey” YouTube video and at the end of the video he did a little bit about the VHL and what it was . While it took me a while to commit to signing up and creating a player I’m so glad I did . My experience here so far has been great ! I created Cooke just before S83 got underway . I quickly signed in Ottawa as a waiver player at first I hated how long it took me to earn TPE as I didn’t fully understand it ( more then anything I was frustrated that I couldn’t develop my player as fast as I wanted ) . But I stuck with it and asked tons of questions to learn tricks and find out the best ways to Earn and by the end of S83 I put myself in a good position for the S84 draft . I was drafted by LA , Oslo . And Houston . Now from all of S83 and right up too playoffs in 84 I was a forum only guy , I never used discord or was very active in the locker rooms or anything like that . After seeing the growth of Cooke in S84 and seeing how well Houston played that year I finally joined the LR for the playoffs on discord . I haven’t looked back sense Discord is huge and makes this so much more enjoyable! After a breakout season in terms of player growth and personal in terms of getting more involved in the community Cooke moved to the VHLE to play for Oslo in S85. I kept open and clear communication with @JB123through most of S84 and made it very clear that I was excited and looking forward to coming up to Oslo . While getting ready for S85 I noticed that JB was looking to hire and AGM and on a whim I threw my name in the hat and applied to work with JB . I was fortunate enough to be chosen . Together we lead Oslo to the renaissance championship in S85 . Actually who am I kidding JB was the architect and mastermind behind that championship team that year I was just fortunate enough to have my player on the roster and be able learn the ropes as an AGM from him . in S86 I finally made it to the VHL with Cooke and it’s be a learning experience trying to have a successful rookie year and continue to build Cooke up . I’ve really enjoyed it and learning what it takes and what you need to do in order to succeed in the VHL . I’m also progressing as an AGM continuing to learn and try to improve every day to show I belong in that position. Overall my experience so far as a first gen who didn’t know what to expect at all coming into the VHL almost a year ago . Has honestly been amazing. Everyone I’ve met in this community has been top notch . It gets better and better every day . Some advice I’d give to First gens is be open to learning , ask questions , Earn TPE at your own pace and do what is manageable and enjoyable to you . Have fun and enjoy it .
  8. Oslo Press Conference week ending 11/12/2022 1. We’re starting to turn it around a climb the standings what’s been a key factor to the teams recent success ? 2. Who’s been the teams MVP at the mid point of the season so far ? 3. What do we need to do in order to ensure a playoff spot come seasons end ? 4. The trade deadline is almost here should we add any pieces to shore up our team or role with what we’ve got ? 5. We’ve struggled against Bratislava and Cologne all year , what do we need to change in order to beat them ? 6. Are you ready for Christmas yet or do you procrastinate to the last minute like I do?
  9. Game 243 Recap Calgary Wranglers vs Helsinki Titans In what looked to be and exciting matchup after a 1-1 first period where a heaviest outshot Helsinki team looked to stay in it with Calgary . The 1-1 tie was short lived tho Calgary would go up 3-2 by the end of the 2nd and ultimately win the game final score 6-2 out shooting the titans 49-17 . The wranglers dominated the majority of this game not giving much up at all to Helsinki
  10. Game 250 Recap London United vs Riga Reign this game was exciting from the start of the first period to the end of the third . London jumped out to an early lead 3:12 when Yun Chiang buried his 18th of the season. Riga would respond late in the first to tie it up at 1 the second period was a stalemate with niether team taking full control of the game. Riga would jump out to an early 2-1 lead in the third but London would battle back to knot it up at 2 . However that was not enough as Riga would seal the deal shortly after . Final score 3-2 Riga !
  11. I’ve done this each of the past 2 seasons and I plan to keep on doing it , this seasons edition is the S86 Oslo Storm ! Let’s compare the Storm to their NHL Counterparts! Let’s Start with the Forwards ! Sunglasses Joyo centre @JetsGoalie101 Mathew Barzal Joyo is a pass first Centre with great skating ability ! Joyo is an offence driver on Oslo and a big voice in the locker room . Most importantly the guy never ever takes off his sunglasses it’s even been noted that he has a special exemption to wear them on the ice for every game ! Even making sunglasses a rallying point for Oslo this season ! Nikolas Kauppi Right Wing @Tetricide Tage Thompson Kauppi is huge ! Both on and off the ice ! The rookie winger has been an integral part of Oslo’s Offence this season giving 100% every single shift ! Kauppi is a power forward any team would be lucky to have on their roster ! Ben McLaughlin Left Wing @Ben mclaughlin Brandon Hagel Mclaughlin is a Swiss Army knife the guy can play up and down the lineup wherever Oslo needs him . A little bit of a late bloomer he’s finding his stride and proving to be a valuable piece to Oslo . He’s trusted to play the game the right way whenever he is on the ice in whatever role he is asked to play . Jon Webber Jr Left Wing @Webberj Jamie Benn Oslo’s captain is a natural leader on and off the ice ! Leading by example whether it’s on the ice or in the locker room . Webber knows how to set the tone and make an impact during a game . He’s on track to become Oslo’s all time leading scorer and in my opinion after this season the team should consider potentially retiring the man’s jersey number . ( yes I’m his short 2 seasons he’s had that big of an impact on the storm franchise). Robert Overmeyer Left Wing @RobBro34 Nic Robertson Overmeyer is a speedy small winger with loads of potential. He could become a very important winger for Oslo and even a dominant offensive winger in the VHLE and VHL for years to come ! It’s a just a matter of if he can put all his potential and tools together and carve out a successful career for himself Vinny Lecavalier Centre @Spartakiller2 Dylan Strome New comer Lecavalier has came as advertised immediately fitting in on Oslo , and bringing much needed help offensively when Oslo looked like the were at one point lacking the firepower . Vinny Looks like a player with a lot of potential trying to make a name for himself in this league ! So far he’s blowing expectations out of the water for himself . Randy Bobandy Centre @AJW Dylan Holloway Bobandy came into this season a highly touted prospect for the S87 draft and while he struggled early on he seems to be finding his game as of late . Bobandy will almost certainly be playing in the VHL next season as he is the second ranked prospect in the draft . Look for him to continue to improve each and every game ! Pistol Pete Centre @PistolP Jordan Staal Pete is a veteran Centre that brings a lot of experience to Oslo . Although this is his last season he’s been a valuable fourth line grinder and energy player . Aswell as a valuable veteran presence to have in the Oslo locker room. Lets move on too Defenceman! Quinn Clark @axtron Brandon Montour Clark has been a revalation on Oslo’s backend this year contributing to their successful team defence game , while also contributing consistently offensively aswell . Clark came into this season wanting to give more to the team both offensively and defensively! And boy has he done that and more ! Brodie Landry lll @Brodie_Landry Miro Hieskanen Landry came into this season with a completely retooled game and focus . And honestly it’s shown he’s one of the best 2 way d men in the VHLE this season ! He’s contributing offensively and shutting other teams top players down defensively! Like Clark , Landry has been crucial to Oslo’s defensive success this season ! Jack The Ripper @Ripper Moritz Seider Ripper sees the ice exceptionally well he makes a great first breakout pass , and is almost never out of position on the ice , he’s been a very welcomed addition to Oslo’s d core this season. Hunor Solyom @solyom Matt Roy Solyom is a hard nosed stay at home d man with a bit of offensive upside ! He’s been a calming force so far this year . He can really slow down the play and seemingly always makes the right decision with the puck . Rhys Trenton @DeeGoat Brent Burns Trenton recently came to Oslo via trade and has been everything they needed to stabilize their d core . The veteran offensive d man is in his last season before retirement . He looks like he hasn’t skipped a beat since being acquired ! Time for the Goalies now ! Alexander Minion @UnknownMinion Ilya Sorokin Minion has single-handedly won a number of games for Oslo this year , He’s having a fantastic season so far in net for the storm ! And will continue to be the backbone of the storm as they work towards their ultimate goal of making the playoffs and working towards repeating as renaissance cup champs! Travis Clark @ClarkClanT Keith Kinkaid Clark has so far proven to be a serviceable and dependable backup for Oslo this season . Look for his playing time to increase as the season goes on! there you have in folks there who I believe are the closest counterparts for Oslo’s players based on their play style and the year they are having !
  12. Growing up in the small town of Fort McMurray Alberta Rookie Center Todd Cooke always dreamed of playing pro hockey. Now people have to understand Fort McMurray is an Oil town famous for the Oil Sands and it’s Mines . So naturally most kids grow up and go to work in the mines or in the oil field in some capacity or another . While there are some notable hockey players that come from Fort Mac ( Scottie Upshall and Chris Phillips ) most people return to town after they finish playing their highest level of hockey. At a young age Cooke was always drawn to the Mining world as A LOT of his family members worked in the industry , between that and hockey Cooke grew up with 2 passions in life . In high-school Cooke did a work placement program where he got his first real taste of the Mining world as an apprentice heavy duty mechanic working on equipment in the mines . As he progressed he eventually had to choose if he wanted to pursue hockey at a higher level or finish his mechanic apprenticeship. As a result of the work placement program Cooke earned a scholarship to go to Keyano College in Fort McMurray This was the perfect opportunity to try out for the hometown Fort McMurray Oil Barons Junior A hockey club while attending school . Cooke made the hockey team as a walk on but his rookie season was exceptional and he ended up playing a big part in a deep playoff run that would ultimately come up short in the conference finals . Cooke would finish the school portion of his apprenticeship but ultimately for go the technical training portion choosing to follow his dreams of playing Junior Hockey in his hometown . With the option of completing his technical training if things didn’t fully pan out with hockey . Cooke had a successful Junior Career winning the league championship and MVP trophy in his final season. Although he had a successful junior hockey tenure, he didn’t immediately have plan to further his hockey career . So while waiting and attending whatever possible try outs he could Cooke began finishing his technical training ultimately attaining his hours to become a journeyman off road heavy duty mechanic. While on Vacation with his family For Christmas in Banff Alberta Cooke was talked into coming out and playing a shinny hockey Game , little did he know there would be some scouts in the stands . And So it Begins After the shinny game a scout for the Ottawa Lynx in the VHLM approached Cooke and offered him a PTO for their upcoming season . Cooke had a lot of time to think about the PTO as the Training camp for the Season wasn’t until August of that year . Cooke returned to Fort McMurray and worked in the Mines saving as much money as he could to be able to Attend the Training camp . Cooke also spent every waking minute in the gym or on the ice preparing himself to get ready ! The end of July came up quick and Cooke said his goodbyes to his family and hometown and made his way too Ottawa. Ottawa was a culture shock and much different then what Todd was used too a big town with lots of hustle and bustle . Todd Cooke made an impact immediately and was offered a contract by the Lynx and entered into the rookie draft pool for the next season. Cooke enjoyed moderate success in his rookie season and enjoyed life in Ottawa aswell . Draft Day a dream come true Todd Cooke went into Season 84 a highly touted late 1st or early 2nd round draft pick . Cooke would have never ever thought this would at all possible growing up in such a small town . With the number 27 pick In VHL draft , the Los Angeles Stars would pick Cooke immediate excitement overtook Cooke and his family . They described it as an emotional happy experience where hardwork paid off . Cooke would later be picked 20th overall in the VHLE draft by the Oslo Storm. and 10th by the Houston Bulls . That summer Cooke went home and enjoyed the time with his family and friends . Knowing he was about to set off on the journey of a lifetime pursuing hockey full time. The draft was over the real work was about to begin ! Over the next 2 seasons Cooke would hone his craft at the center ice position in both the VHLM and VHLE . Winning a championship with the Oslo Storm I’m Season 85 in the VHLE . Recently Todd has made his way to Los Angeles to begin his rookie season and VHL career with the Stars ! Cooke’s story is about how hardwork and perseverance will help you achieve any dream that you have in life ! And how a kid from a small town with a love for mining and the oil field would grow up chasing the dream to play professional hockey while also pursuing a second career . Anything is possible ! And achieveable if you put your mind to it ! Cooke’s story isn’t over in fact it’s only just began !
  13. Los Angeles Stars rookie Center Todd Cooke has been enjoying his rookie season in the VHL this year . Constantly trying to be better and improve his game every single day . As of late Cooke has seen his production slightly increase. While he’s not quite playing Center full time he is contributing any way he can and watching veteran centres Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems and DB III . Trying to soak up all the knowledge he can to improve his game and see what it takes to be successful in the middle of the ice . Cooke is currently tied for 4th among rookies in the scoring race . Look for him to only get better as the season progresses this year and further as he progresses his career in the VHL with the Stars . This rookie is showing everyday that he has what it takes to have a long successful career here. Wherever he may end up he will always be looking to prove his doubters wrong at every turn !
  14. Oslo Storm Press Conference Week Ending 12/04/2022 1. Oslo recently acquired Rhys Trenton , and Vinny Lecavalier via trade how do you think they’ve meshed with our current team in the locker room and on the ice ? 2. We’ve been relatively inconsistent this year , how do we fix that ? 3. how has your player preformed through the first quarter of the season ? 4. Oslo is thinking about naming the team mascot , any Suggestions? 5. Winter is finally here and here to stay , what do you prefer summer or winter ? 6. Who do you think has been the biggest surprise player this year in the NHL so far ?
  15. Game 133 Recap This game between the bears and the Americans was a heavy mismatch where an exceptional goalie performance kept the bears in till the end . The Americans heavily outshot the bears in the first , despot that tho the bears got on the scoreboard first they would close the first period 1-0 . It didn’t take long for New York to respond tho making it 1-1 in the second before taking the lead in the third period . Ultimately the final score was 2-1 . This could’ve been different tho had Dusty Wilson not delivered an outstanding performance in net with 42 saves keeping the bears in it right until the end.
  16. Game 142 recap This Game was a hard fought back and forty battle . Both teams scored early in the first ten minutes of the game . The rest of the first period and second period were very tightly contested with either team really giving much up . In the third period Chicago really put the pressure on with 20 shots on goal trying to take the lead . Brandt fuhr stood on his head and did everything he possibly could to keep his team in the game. Ultimately he was beaten by baby bob at 18:35 in the third period . This game was a nail bitter right done to the end folks ! Chicago came out on top 2-1
