  1. 1. Feels good to start my VHL career off on a high note. 2. Get your form in check for the playoffs. Lets get on an upswing that will carry us to the championship. 3. Given how competitive this conference is, yes there is value in a conference championship. But the Cup is always the end goal. 4. Much of the movement happened in the offseason. 5. I have to be the glue that keeps everyone together. Sister is stressing out over the end of the semester. Brother is going through a divorce. Dad is working as a mall Santa and us stuck with a rental truck until further notice. And Mom is stressing out over all of it. That is my holiday. 6. Al long as we have wood, we are ready for winter.
  2. 1. Babay Shrimp has been great thus season. 2. Listen to a YouTube video or just watch the world pass by. I am very used to long car rides. 3. I can't think of an individual player I can think of. 4. Being in the rookie race is my favorite part. 5. Season isn't over yet. Think about the playoffs when we get there. Focus on today. 6. Season isn't half over yet. I wouldn't go that far until the halfway point.
  3. The talk of this season has been recrment or the lack thereof. This has been most felt by the GMs and AGMs of the VHLM. This player crunch has severely impacted the competitive balance of this league. The point of this article is to come up reasons for the the downturn and find solutions to correct this problem. I must start by stating that this hobby is a niche one. Most people would prefer to play the game rather than let a computer decide the outcome. Sim leaguers are a different breed and a tight nit community. Indeed I have had the pleasure of many of my friends in multiple leagues. But while the VHL has the largest community out of any sim league, growth has been slow. Indeed the Covid boom which has brought in a many new players has ended. I believe that this boom comes down to time. The fall has been a busy time of year for many, myself including. Now that the holiday season has arrived, that busyness should increase. It takes time to be a productive member of this community, time that could be spent elsewhere. These are things that must be considered by the BoG going forward. Now this the problem elaborated on, what are the answers? If we are to get more eyes on this league, we have to go viral. The league has used YouTube effective in the past. After all, it is how I ended up here. But I feel that we can do more that sponsor videos. There are videos of creating a player in something like the last College Football video game and follow the career path of that of player. I have watched these videos and have enjoyed many of them. As a true sim league, there is no game play to record, but the storytelling could be fantastic. And sometimes that is all it takes to attract attention. I would also make some changes to the value of written TPE task. I would increase the amount of TPE for 150 word point task to 3 TPE and reduce the amount of words for 6 TPE to 300 words. The reduction of words nessary to get the maximum amount of TPE would hopefully be less daunting for new players, leaving the big articles for the professional. These are my ideas for fixing our recruitment issues, unworkable as they may be. While the league will not collapse overnight, this recruitment slump has created issues that if unaddressed could result in huge problems. What keeps sim leagues like this one alive is a willingness to change when things aren't working out. I have made the case for my ideas but please make the case for your ideas below. The BoG has been open in their search for ideas to fix this problem. It gives me so much peace about the future. Undoubtedly, a good solution to this recruitment issue will be found and the result will be a stronger VHL
  4. If you are recreating, come to Halifax. We need you.

  5. 1. It feels good to be at the top. 2. The right mixture of experienced veterans and rising youngsters. 3. Continue. Everything is clicking right now. And all wee need is to continue what we have been doing. 4. I will be disappointed. He as been amazing thus season. 5. I kinda does. But that will change in time. 6. I think it is a wonderful idea to share this top level of the game with the places that produces the talent that make the modern game as great as it is. It absolutely should continued every year.
  6. The race for the S91 Rookie of Year is a intense one. Five players all fighting each other for the title. Each day sees changes to where the rookies stand. Each of these players have been exciting revelations for their teams. It is time to give each of these players the spotlight they deserve in current standing order. Axel Gunner - 32 points @Steve The massive Moscow Menace center is your current leader of all rookies in points. This member of the Greenland Gang currently has a fantastic fourteen goals and eighteen assist in thirty-four games. The fourth overall pick of S90 has lived up to the hype this season and with 631 TPE, he is the favorite to out pace everyone else and win the race by season's end. Maxim Anisimov - 31 points @McLovin Fitting, the rookie one point behind Axel Gunner is the same player who drafted one pick later in S90. The Ukrainian right winger has done well playing for the relatively close to home Warsaw Predators. His twelve goals and nineteen assist result in Maxim being the best in points for the Predators so far. He should continue his relentless pursue of Axel in spite of a 57 TPE difference between the rivals. Harry Callahan - 30 points @dstevensonjr Following right behind is the standout rookie for the Toronto Legion. Spending a extra season in the VHLM has worked wonders for Harry. A Ronan Lavelle Trophy last season and thirteenth goal with seventeen assist thirty-five games into this season. The seventeen overall selection from S89 is starting to prove his worth and with 30 TPE more than the player ahead of him, he is as much of a solid contender as either of the players current ahead of him. Shubham Anand - 27 points @Will3 The unstable road to get here has not slowed this player down. While he never got to play for the franchise that selected him thirteenth overall in S89, Shubham is still happy with his decision to stay down a season in the VHLE. The Indian born right winger has produced ten goals and seventeen assist in thirty-five games for the Riga Reign. With the support of a solid team and about 10 TPE more than than Maxim Anisimov, Shubham is far from out of this race. Severus Targaryen - 27 points @Banackock It is only fitting to conclude this list with a second member if the Greenland Gang. The Seattle Bears center is putting together a great rookie campaign with twelve goals and fifteen assist in thirty-four games. The eleventh selection from S90 is definitely the dark horse in this race with under 500 TPE. That being said Severus has managed to keep pace with the leaders and unless something changes, he should continue to do so until the season is over. The remainder of the season should be an exciting one for the league. Each new day should bring much fluctuation and any one of these men could win. It should be a thrilling finish. Feel free to Ssund off on predictions below. Good luck to all users involved and may the best man win.
  7. Halifax 21st Press Conference Answer 3 Questions for 1 Capped TPE Answer 6 Questions for 2 Capped TPE For Week Ending on November 19, 2023 So things haven't been going great. What has been the high point so far? Who has been worse, us or the Mexico City Kings? Who has been the MVP of the team so far? What has been the biggest surprise in the VHLM so far? How do we fix the recruitment issues the league is going through right now? How has been your fall so far?

  10. 1. It is a solid start. Not great but not bad. 2. Six soild contenders in the same conference is not weak. 3. I spent an extra season in the VHLE to prepare. 4. He is carrying this team so far at least. 5. We trust in our depth to produce. 6. I was in a similar situation in my first season of VHLE play. I worked hard and eventually got traded out. That how I would handle this situation. Work hard and let the rebuild take it's course.
  11. A tragic death has broken the hearts of ice hockey fans and players across the world. As we mourn this man gone far too soon, questions have risen over how to prevent a similar tragedy from ever occurring again. As both a professional hockey player and as an executive for a sporting goods supplier, these questions have borrowed their way into my recent thoughts. This is all my thoughts and enotions collected in word form on the right thing to do in response to this tragedy. Back when I played cricket for my primary school, the coach of the team made an unofficial rule. All batting helmets had to have neck guards. No helmet was acceptable if it didn't have that extra level of protection. No one forced him to do this, he just did it because he felt it was right and we all loved him for his care for us. Comparatively, the risk on hurting you neck in cricket is nothing to the risk in ice hockey. My mother asked Coach Will about those risk the first time I ever laced up skates and he told her the truth. While it is rare, it does happen. When the AIHLI started up, she bought me my first neck guard. I have been wearing them ever since. This sport we all love can be cruel and chaotic. As often as it produces humorous, weird moments, it can hurt us in ways we can never see coming. And the hockey skate is not the only thing that can damage the neck or throat in this game. A puck or stick can be just as harmful in the right (or wrong) circumstance. We all have people who care about us. I am unsure if I would be able to face the loved ones of a player that died because of my equipment or actions. That is why I believe that all players should have some form of throat protection, for your loved ones and also for fellow players. Some people will slander me as a vile opportunist, milking this tragedy for profit. And while the money has come in, it has never been about that for me. I started this entrepreneurial journey simply to make sure those who needed sporting gear might receive it. That has been the core principle behind all that I have done. And I am more than prepared to put my money where my mouth is. I will supply throats guards to any player in any league that ask for one. It doesn't matter to me if you're in the VHL, the SHL, the GOHL, or in any other league. If you feel the need for this protection and ask me for it, I will send it to you completely free of charge. This is all about empowering my fellow players to take their protection into their own hands. This is how we prevent further tragedy like this from ever happening again. It is simply the right thing to do.
  12. 1. I believe that it is. We have a solid core. 2. I have questions about the Helsinki Titans depth. 3. Probably me,but I believe that Reginald the Dodo will have an underrated season. 4. AK is a leader who will take us far. 5. I expect to be a team leader in points. 6. I did not watch it. No pay per view for me. 7. Baring something tragic, yes. He is still a great scorer and should at least get close
  13. Halifax 21st Press Conference Answer 3 Questions for 1 Capped TPE Answer 6 Questions for 2 Capped TPE For Week Ending on November 5, 2023 Welcome to S91. How do you feel about the team this season? What do does your player hope to achieve this season? Who do you think will be the top team in the VHLM? If it is decided to rebuild the team, where would you like to be traded to? What was the best Halloween costume that you saw this year? Should neck guard be mandatory for all players?
  14. The time has now come to catch up with recent bronze medalist and VHL rookie Shubham Anand. So many things have changed since our last interview. But have thise changes been for better or worse? We will catch up on the ending in the VHLE playoffs, the training to prepare for entry into VHL, the trade to Riga, and his feelings on his new team to answer that question. So back to last the end of last season. The team you were captain of were destroyed in five game in the VHLE playoffs after winning the Victory Cup. Describe how you felt after that last game. Pain. I figured the Victory Cup curse would strike and tried to prepare the team so that it wouldn't happen. Still I was powerless to prevent the inevitable. After all the madness that happened to me in the VHLE, I wanted that Renaissance Cup more than anyone. But is just wasn't ment to be. All I can do now it look ahead to VHL play. Do you feel ready for VHL after spending two seasons in the VHLE? Given how average I played as one of the top players on a great VHLE team, staying down in the VHLE to develop my player was the right call. I worked so hard last season and it should pay off now. I worked hard on every aspect of my game. I am more that ready for VHL play. I believe that I might even have a breakout season and completefor Rookie of the Year. Lets move on to who you will be playing you rookie season for. Because it isn't the team that drafted you. The Calgary Wranglers traded you to the Riga Reign just before the S91 Draft. What are your thoughts about this move? The Wranglers organization is great and I am grateful for the mentorship that was given to me. I wanted to reward the faith the organization has put in me. But big moves resulted in there not being any room for me both in cap and roster. Thus I was moved and I ended up with Fradin McGryer again which is always a pulse. While I am a little disappointed that I don't get to play for the team that drafted me, I do think this move will work out for me. One last question for you. Who do you feel about you new team. Will the Reign have a great season this year? This team is an intriguing mix of veterans and youth. Certainly enough to compete both now and in the future. A good retool has this team set up well and our contending window should be opening. We should at least make the playoffs with the possibilityof a deep run should everything work out. That is all we have for today. As always I appreciate your sharing your thoughts and opinions with us. Congratulations on the bronze metal in the World Junior Championship and Good luck on the season. Thanks. I appreciate it.
  15. 1. Good since in has brought in outcast from Calgary. 2. We add a couple of FA and we should be solid. 3. I am glad to be one of those young faces. 4. I believe so. We have cap space and a young squad with a opening contending window. 5. I am excited to finally make my VHL debut. 6. Same old Pittsburgh teams.
  16. "If a team acquires Fradin McGryer, that team must pick up Shubham Anand shortly". This unofficial rule seams to have bound two very different hockey players together as they rise through the VHL hockey world togther. These two have remained togther throughout trades and drafts and on teams both good and bad. Now that the duo have reached the summit and are finally set to play VHL hockey togther, the time has come to review their journey together in the chaotic world of the VHL pyramid. It all started in early in S88 in San Diego. Fradin and Shubham were just two waiver players from very different backgrounds. Fradin was raised in Boston, where hockey is an institution. Shubham was raised in New Delhi, where ice hockey is a strange game. Fradin played college hockey. Shubham played in an upstart amateur league. Fradin was a gritty gone defender. Shubham was a skill foward. Yet both chose to enter the VHL pyramid on the Marlins roster. Fradin would help Shubham adjust to life in the United States. Shubham would introduce elements of his culture to Fradin. As different as the two were, they become friends. The newfound friends would have a great first season in San Diego, culminating ina deep playoff run that would mark the end of their time in the VHLM. The S89 Workd Junior Tournament is where the first major twist happens. Fradin the proud American that he is, expected to make the Team USA roster. When it was announced that he would was on the Team Asia roster, he refused to play in the tournament. Shubham was asked to comment on his former teammate. He stated that while he understood his friends decision, he was disappointed that they would not play together for potentially the last time ever. Little to Shubham know that this wish would change everything. The S89 VHL Draft came and Fradin would be drafted fourth overall by the Calgary Wranglers. Shubham was happy for his friend but would be in for a surprise when eleven picks later, he would be drafted by the Wranglers. In the long term they would play together. It would take the VHLE Draft to decide the short term. Sure enough Fradin would be a high pick and while Shubham would have to wait significantly longer to hear his name called but would end up on the same team. Seems like the duo would spend their whole careers together. Unfortunately the boys were drafted to the Vasteras Iron Eagles. The S89 version of this VHLE team was dysfunctional organization that was replaced by season's end. In another shocking twist Fradin would be traded two games into the season to the Geneva Rush where he flourished. Shubham would play ok as the team slowly fell apart. It would be around the trade deadline where Shubham would finally freed from the sinking ship and his rescuers would be the Geneva Rush. Shubham would continue his ok play but was so much happier to play with his friend again on a much better team. S90 would see another parting of the ways as Fradin decide to start his VHL career, while Shubham chose to stay in the VHLE for the futher development of his game and to help as the Rush replace the Iron Eagles's team that drafted both of them. Both of them would be good for their respective teams. As S91 approached The Wranglers would run into cap problems that would see Fradin traded to the Riga Reign. Only a day later, like clockwork the soon to be promoted Shubham Anand was traded to Riga as well. That is where things currently stand today. Professional sports are not supposed to work like this. It is a heartless business that sees teammates split apart no matter how they feel about each other. To see Fradin McGryer and Shubham Anand stay together on the exact same five teams throughout so much chaos is remarkable. We will see if the duo can continue to stick together as the seasons pass. Their strong bond has proven to be the exception to the rules that govern others and has become a rule unto itself.
  17. Will3

    RIG/CGY; S91

    Right on schedule.
  18. I had a feeling something like this was going to happen. The best team doesn't win the cup, the team that works the hardest does. Something was off about the energy of the squad. I could feel it. I tried to encourage the team to fight even as things got bad. Still the results were embarrassing gentleman sweep. A final bitter insult by this league for the crime of tying to be good in it. This has been an absolutely maddening two years of my life and I am glad it is finally over. I can watch the rest of the playoffs on the Isle of Speed with Mom and chill for a little while. After the playoffs, I am going to do some business stuff that requires my in person presents and participate in the offseason events that I am allowed to. After that it is oft to Calgary to prepare for my VHL debut. I do have multiple regrets about how things turned out but the time to look back is over. Time to look forward to a long and wonderful VHL career. Shubham Anand on loosing in the S90 VHLE playoff

  22. 1. Fly over to the Isle of Speed and check up on Mom. 2. Improvement. Maybe close to .500. 3. I am going with Vancouver. 4. Myself. I have spent a year down in the E to get ready. Can't wait to see what I can do. 5. Chicken, ranch and nacho cheese. A delicious combination. 6. Pineapple. I dislike that fruit in general. No just on pizza
  23. Friends, I do not boast lightly when I say that we are a great team. Thers is no point in saying otherwise. We are a great team. From before the season started, we were called out as the best team in the VHLE. We have since lived up to those expectations, winning the King's Cup for being the best team in the regular season. We are a great team. It is an established fact. However, it is equally just as much of a fact that great teams don't always win. That is what makes this sport we all fell in love with the wounder it truly is. The history of this sport is filled with examples of great teams who failed to win a championship. Think back to the Soviets in 1980 or the Canadians in 1996. Both of these international squads were the best teams on the whole planet in their time only to fall embarrassingly short while others celebrated a miracle upset. The lessons of these two failures are clear. Our netminders must turn into the most unbreakable of stone walls and the rest of us must fight and claw for the puck with everything we have very step of the way.I know we are more than capable of doing both any day of the week. So we are going to go out there tonight and every night and fight like we are hungry, because after everything this leage has put me through, I am starving. Let's make our own miracles out there. Let's fly! Speech made by captin Shubham Anand to his fellow Vasteras Iron Eagles just before the Game 1 of the S90 VHLE playoffs.
