  1. have you reached out to them on the site DMs? some people may not like discord. also you would get more players from waivers so it wouldnt be fully bad
  2. he backpacked and inception'd my Media Spot lol. but i get 6
  3. i didn't really word this right an i am sorry for that. I meant in regards tp being drafted to one of those teams that have been blown up or what not. I see your point. of course Covid was a massive thing and i get with things opening back up availability will change. its more so that and maybe its just me, I dont want to have to hint down someone who can answer it when the GM or AGM could easily answer it especially if they are online. this is another one to an extent i understand. however as a new player if i was say Drafted to Las Vegas and left on a team with 3 players i would want out FAST. I dont want to punish smart GMs for taking recreates they are a sure thing, hedge your bets. I just think it looks bad, especially if other teams for example dont have a Golie or defencman. its one of those weird double edge sword things i wanna thank you for your thorough and Honest, polite response
  4. As a new member to the Victory Hockey League I have been doing a lot of reading, and a lot of watching. Nothing in life is flawless, nothing is perfect. I wholeheartedly believe the Victory Hockey League is the best simulation game for hockey, even better than EA . With that said I also feel I need to give my opinion as my mother used to always say “you know there is a problem unless you tell someone” so this is me telling you what i have been noticing. Let me preface this with: the statements in this Media Spot are my OPINION and that only, this is not intended to call out any General Managers, Commissioners, Players, or league Staff this is simply me pointing out what I think to be a problem. I love this site and just want it to be perfect (which is always impossible) The VHLM is a joke, if the purpose is to Retain and Train new members how to update, play, and get them ready for the VHL then it has failed on a few levels, if it is about winning Championships, awards, and padding your resume then its succeeding on an astounding level. Let me explain. I know that the sim “affects things, and can be random” that's not what I am debating, it's more so about how the VHLM works. Let's start out with a glaring TPE breakdown for each team. 2 Ottawa Lynx (60 - 10 - 2) 3122 TPE (3 players at 200 TPE) 1 Yukon Rush (64 - 7 - 1) 2766 TPE ( 7 players at 200 TPE) 3 Minnesota Storm (54 - 12 - 6) 2528 TPE (8 players at 200 TPE) 6 Philadelphia Reapers (36 - 34 - 2) 2326 TPE 4 Houston Bulls (38 - 28 - 6) 2064 TPE (3 players at 200 TPE) 5 Halifax 21st (36 - 30 - 6) 1876 TPE (2 Players at 200 TPE) 9 Mexico City Kings (27 - 36 - 9) 1414 TPE (1 Player at 200 TPE) 10 San Diego Marlins (29 - 40 - 3) 1260 TPE 8 Miami Marauders (32 - 39 - 1) 902 TPE 11 Saskatoon Wild (15 - 54 - 3) 731 TPE 7 Las Vegas Aces (32 - 36 - 4) 357 TPE 12 Mississauga Hounds (9 - 57 - 6) 285 TPE Looking at that list, which is in order from TPE, the first number is where they finished overall in the VHLM in season 80. The top 5 teams have over 2000 TPE as a team and 21 players at 200 with more banked. These players for the most part are recreated from existing members, some who have Jobs, or steady TPE. nothing wrong with that as long as they follow the same rule of a certain amount of capped as everyone else. We want to be fair. Aside from Mexico, any team with at least 1 player with 200 TPE finished above .500 so then I see this as a new player and think in the draft okay...I don't want to play for anyone under this threshold. If the plan is to win, get cups, and get stats. Every other team finished well under. The top 4 teams based on TPE (Ottawa, Yukon, Minnesota, Philadelphia) have more TPE combined then the bottom 7 teams in the league (Halifax, Mexico, San Diego, Miami, Saskatoon, Las Vegas, Mississauga) Now I know to some there might be a “well the player chooses who they sign with” or other comments along those lines and that's true and fair. My point is as a new member who is coming into this fresh, what incentive is there for me to join the other 7 teams? If Gm’s stack their rosters with a locker room full of players who know what they are doing it is kind of pointless. There should be 1 or two re-created per team required in my opinion, that way when a new player signs with a team they have someone they can ask questions to who can help them. Kind of like bringing a Veteran in on a young team in the NHL Maybe a TPE cap per team could also help with Parity and management. Kind of like a Salary cap but a TPE cap. If this line upset you, then you need to rethink your motivations. I keep being told the VHLM is about Retention and helping members, yet I had to actively reach out to people not on my team or league to help me out because my Locker Room is dead. I learned most of what I had to by reading and messing about because it was hard to connect and actually reach anyone which is a problem. Had I not met @fishy, @thadthrasher, @Peace, @Brewins15, @Moon_50, @Alex_J32 I would not be here right now. I would have left. These 6 have been amazing and have helped me understand the nuance and need to know stuff about the league and the VHL. something that should have been done the second I joined. Next issue I noticed, for Las Vegas for example who has 3 players. 3, why would anyone want to join Las Vegas? So does Mississauga. What as a new player makes me think I should join them? Nothing. (i'm not blaming the GMS) some teams have No Goalies, no Defenders. 1 defender while other teams have 6 or 7. Some teams have 2 goalies over 100 TPE who could go to other teams and be a starter, get minutes, maybe be motivated to stick around. I think the Rosters need to be looked at and evened out this is where the TPE Cap could come in handy or even a Recreate cap. If the idea is about retention and teaching then GM’s and AGM’s need to be available to answer the questions their players may have. I've seen a few locker rooms where players are not encouraged to interact or Gms are MIA in the locker rooms. I want to have fun, I want to be able to talk to my Teammates and feel like i'm on a team. But when i'm on a team with 1 Defense, and 1 goalie who is our top earner, where no one talks...that's not going to encourage me or any new member to stick around. I didn't make this article to Attack anyone, I made it to start a dialogue, I want the VHL in every aspect to succeed. I love this site and some of the members. I have had a blast on every aspect that ISN'T hockey related. I think a few changes to make the league more about learning, more Parity, I think a lot of new players would stick around. 1104 words, claiming weeks ending Nov 7, 14
  5. Noted. 1 24 hour day or one buisness day? <3
  6. I would like to apply even though im new i want to learn and get experience in all facets of this league. ide like to apply for any team but mostly Can USA Europe

  8. Ham+Pineapple+sweet Marinara
  9. as someone new to the league I can comment on this? yes I signed with the first team that gave me an offer and although im not saying I regret that decision as I have performed well in the SIm. When their is not a Sim our Locker room is pretty dead. no one really talks to each other all that much I never see my GM online. I have pinged my AGM a few times to no response and when you first sign up their is a lot of information thrown at you. a lot of numbers and text and it was overwhelming. I noticed a lot of people live in the General Chanel of discord and often its moving so fast that if a question comes up it gets buried, or if a question comes up and is posted in the new comers Channel it takes a while to be answered because everyone is in General. I have sort of had to figure out things on my own and im still making mistakes and not 100% confident. so I can agree that the VHLM and their GMS should prioritize Retention over winning. that is just my 2 cents ill go hide now.
  10. 1.) Its still early, im having fun though so anything is possible i guess 2.) its quiet, but yeah i would say im enjoying the LR 3.) well its a simulation xD so i guess that 4.) not really im new here so have not really looked at other payers 5.) we might squeak in if we get super lucky 6.) I dont care, as long as i get to play and i do well
  11. congrats @dylanjj37
  12. So I have been here a few days, and just some small things I have noticed. Some pros and cons I guess we can classify them. I want to preface this with, this is just my opinion and in no way me telling you or other members how to behave or act. just my 2 cents. I love this site and i think a few small things could make it perfect. Pro: The portal is the best thing I have seen and the best thing about the VHL. The ability to just click buttons to claim my points is super easy to understand after the first 30 minutes of messing around with it. Pro: The discord might be the biggest Asset you have, I would use it more. All the information I gathered was from Discord and the helpful members. This should be the first thing sent to new members the discord link. Pro: The game information, i don't know what to call it but the breakdown of the game, i love reading it and as a stats nerd it gets my jollies off. Con: The wall of text that is the Getting Started and league rules. I understand the need for them but I think a shorter, more condensed version might work better. Had i not been in the discord it might have been too overwhelming reading all of that and i think i would have left to be honest. Con: Controversial, but I was a little scared to mention i was Gay, or my player. Thank you @fishy by the way. I think just a simple message when you join the discord like “this is a safe place and All Inclusive” might just ease some future members. I know being called Dude or him a few times without asking for pronouns was a little off putting (I realize no one meant any ill intent.) Con: no Mentors. I think their should be a select group of a few trusted members that when someone joins they go to the person and are essentially there to answer questions and show them around. There is so much history here and cool things it might be a bit overwhelming. Being paired with a member who can show you around and explain things better would help..would have helped me.
  13. What a week for the french winger Ariane Leblanc. She recently made her Debut in the Victory Hockey League Minor system for the Miami Marauders. She laced up her skates and tightened her pride laces and then….did nothing for 2 games. The pace of the game was something she would need to get used to if she was going to compete at a high level. Yukon Vs Miami - Ariane was placed on the second line and amassed 19 minutes of ice time. In that time she got a penalty, won 1 out of 2 face offs and had almost 4 minutes on the penalty kill. One could look at those stats and think she failed in her debut. via translator: “It was just my first game, I have not played at this Pace, this intensity ever in my life. The first period smacked me in the mouth and i spent way too long adjusting, I will come back stronger and prove I deserve to be here and that Miami did not make a mistake” Miami Vs Philadelphia - This time the winger got some more ice time, almost 22 minutes, she had 3:30 seconds or more on both Power Play and Penalty Kill finishing minus 1. Many fans were not impressed by what they saw. Miami Fan: “The way the Management was promoting her i expected better things then this, right now she is playing like a glorified 4th liner on the top six...we need a change” via translator: “Simply I was not good enough, they (Philadelphia) is a great team and they proved that tonight. We will improve and we will learn and come back” Miami Vs Halifax - game 3, it was time to see if what she was saying was coming true, if she could improve and work hard at this level. So in the first five minutes of the game she nets her first Victory Hockey League goal beating Boris Tsezar on the glove side. Picking up the puck and tossing it to the trainer for a keepsake. via translator: “You know it was just hard work and focus. The team has been patient with me and you know I saw the stick side open and I shot. Sometimes they go in, sometimes they don't. So i'm going to go donate some money right now” Minnesota Vs. Miami - Yet again the French import showed her skill with the puck. With twenty minutes on the ice she managed an assist and 6:30 on the penalty kill showing just how good she can be. Now netting a second point. Saving the puck. Miami Fan: “This is the play we wanted. She is looking fast, aggressive and she looks hungry. You love to see it” Miami Vs Mississauga - consistency is key in this league and Ariane netted her third point and another goal in this game. Averaging 20 minutes and settling into the team. Improving slowly every game. via translator: “You know i am only as good as my linemates. Everyone on this team works super hard and we are all focused on a singular goal. We want to win and nothing is going to slow us down. Another thousand down lets see how much i can raise this season”

    congrats @Moon_50
  15. same. even though im new
  16. im glad you enjoyed it. it was fun to write
  17. 1.) No actually, brand new. I have experience with forums through forum based written roleplay. reading and asking questions has helped greatly. once you understand it it makes sense. at least to me 2.) I am a crazy harry potter fan. like obsessed, i represent the Hufflepuffs. I also really like to hike, the outdoors is do peaceful. 3.) Release the Kraken baby, we are winning the Stanley cup (this is a joke. we suck right now)
  18. I just started New Girl and i have to say....not bad. I really liked it and binged season 1.
  19. 1.) Maybe make a bullet point quick post. like Create here, Make your first point here, or something like that. the Discord helps, maybe making that link obvious from the start too. 2.) I have no idea, I have not been here long enough to determin that. I would assume anyone not named Miami would be our rivals. I know we want to win and thats our focus. 3.) so far? I would say just the teams logos and names. they are unique and catchy. i love most of them
  20. 1.) I have found the VHL to be a little overwhelming and confusing. being around this long I was expecting a lot of information so its all good. thankfully the people here are awesome and have answered any questions I had. 2.) Really surprised honestly. When i posted it i was scared i wont lie but seeing the responses to the Ad and how many people support it makes me happy and makes me smile. 3.) simple, they were one of the first teams to Reach out with interest. they offered some good minutes and to help learn. so it just made sense.
  21. Hello, im new and need points. ask me questions please
  22. Who is the Miami Marauders newest winger? She is a french import from Metz which borders Germany. Her father was German and sold cars for a car dealership and her mother a French teacher. They hit it off instantly and had Ariane. From a young age she had loved the sport of hockey attending all of the Olympic games she could to see her French team. Her first experience with the Victory Hockey League was ten years ago at the age of 12 when she caught the World Juniors, Team Western Europe hosted a game in France and she spent her entire summers allowance and savings to buy a train ticket to go rep Western Europe. As a young French player she was enthralled by how many Europeans were in the league. She went home and started watching every game she could find online and on TV. It was here she found the Helsinki Titans, she fell in love with their Jerseys, the logo...just everything admittedly she might have spent a tad too much money on Titans merch. So when she got the call from the Victory Hockey League Ten years later she almost fainted. At 22 and fresh out of university the Miami Marauders General Manager (name here) called her offering her a contract to play for them. She had never been to America before and would be playing professional hockey. She was over the moon and hoped on a plane the same day. Ariane Leblanc is an advocate for the LGBTQ+ Community is sports, being gay herself she was nervous about joining the league. It was quickly made clear however that in this league, as long as you can play, you can stay. She was at practice today with #Standuptohate on her stick, written on some tape that was placed on the shaft. Her laces for the season will be rainbow themed and any goal she scores she will donate $1000 to Charity. When asked about all this, she seemed determined. Via Translator: “I am not doing it to be flashy, or stand out, or to try to be better than everyone. I'm doing it because I'm proud of who I am, what I am and I think that should be celebrated. I want to let people in the community know that no matter your Identity, Hockey is a sport for everyone. I am excited to kick ass and start making a contribution here” Via Translator: “The opportunity to play hockey professionally in this league, a league I watched as a kid, is amazing. Getting to lace up my skates and play with some of the best players on the planet will be a challenge, but here i am and lets get to work” Miami is looking to repeat as champions again in season 80, maybe Leblanc can be that added depth that pushes them over. She seemed eager to get on the ice and start scoring, finish up a photo shoot with her new team and had nothing but smiles. The future in the league looks bright, and we will follow Ariane Leblanc very closely.
