Well, it was a short stay, but the graphics took too much time to not upload it 😅

I also think that the logo of the Rush is a bit anemic. My two cents: Switzerland has not as much history with Horse as much as the US or Canada has (even though ironically we were the last European country to abandon the Cavalry as an element of our recon forces in 1973). Geneva's City badge sports an Eagle and the real live Hockey club even has a live eagle as a mascot which they have fly through the arena before any home game. So maybe that would be a more fitting approach.

Alas, I take your contribution as it is: A clear upgrade to the existing logo (imho), and the above 'disconnect' from Swiss and Geneva background does not take away from a cool concept.

For far too long the Geneva Rush has been stealing their identity from the far superior Yukon Rush to cover up how much lamer of a franchise they are. Well, I say no more! Get ur own gosh darn identity! Anyways, during the VHLE Draft stream, it was mentioned that people don't like the rush logo. I also vaguely remember during my time AGMing Yukon that it was a tough brand to sell and a rebrand was somewhat considered. Personally, I don't get it I think it's a great logo but I also like the idea of a rebrand for Geneva. So here are some of my ideas of what a Geneva Rush rebrand could look like.

Or alternatively (since literally half the VHLE teams use yellow)

Tim Robinson got a reaction from WildfireMicro in What if the VHL had Trading Cards?
It's a good idea, but the work involved to make it happen would be a lot. Making enough cards to make it interesting would take a long time and be quite a bit of work. Then also creating some sort of program to manage all the cards and issue them out randomly would be difficult to create and implement into the site. I did a couple cards for graphic point tasks a while ago and they were pretty fun to make. I'll probably start making them again whenever I do graphic point tasks.

This is something I want to start doing.  Not the whole trading and packs part but the creating VHL hockey cards for my point tasks.  I want to do like a 4 card reveal with an animation and all that but I feel like I will just be creating a hassle for the updaters when I try to claim each one.  Though I kinda did that with the Custom Stick Showcase so maybe it wouldn't be that bad.  I'd make a gif for each card and have a few different styles to make the collection.  Just need to make some templates which is the hard part lol

Tim Robinson reacted to WildfireMicro in What if the VHL had Trading Cards?
Hey guys and gals and everything in between WildfireMicro here with an idea that just popped into my head while I was looking at Discord: What If The VHL Had Trading Cards? Basically, this media spot will go over some ideas for a potential VHL trading card series and how I personally think it could work. Now obviously these are nothing more than suggestions however I think that pondering on what could be can be good for us all. I will be going over what each trading card can look like, how users will get packs of them, and how each user will get their player on a card. So without any further ado, let's begin!

So first of all, let's go over how each card will look like. Basically the cards will most likely each be graphics of the players render inside a card. So no these will not be physical cards, nor will they be bought with actual real money (we don't want to bring an NFT issue into here). They will just be renders of the VHL players that we can collect and trade around. Now one thing that might make it easier on the creators of the cards is that I think only players who have played in the VHL and not in the lower leagues should get cards.

There are probably some arguments for getting VHLE or even VHLM cards, however for the purposes of this media it will be VHL only. So with that being said, how would a user be able to attain a pack? Honestly, this is a big tricky part for me, and it can go a number of different ways. I personally believe that a user should be able to get a pack a day for free at the very least, and maybe later down the line find some way to figure out how users can be able to earn extra packs. Someone smarter then me can figure out how a user would earn those extra packs, but regardless one free pack a day I feel is pretty fair in the end.

Also I believe that each card should have a tier based on how much TPE the player has. However, this can have the unfortunate side effect of putting extra strain on those making the cards so just having each card have a single tier and only adding a new card for a player should be done when a player switches teams. Maybe also eventually having special cards like Hall of Fame or Awards cards can be something cool we can do. Now obviously we would not have anybody male those cards for nothing, so maybe having job pay can be good for those doing it. This does have an unfortunate effect of maybe being too taxing of a job for the reward, but like I said someone smarter than me can figure it out.

While this is not so much of a proposal as it is just thinking of the possibilities, I still hope that you enjoyed the idea that I brought up. This isn't a big task that needs to be done right now, and I understand if we have bigger fish to fry at the moment. Regardless, I hope you enjoyed this and I hope to see you all on the ice!

Tim Robinson reacted to Scurvy in Around the League
Were officially at the 20-game mark so there is lots to chat about. So for this weeks Around the League in 500 words I wanted to talk about Chicago’s surging, the loss of a legend, THE Helsinki Titans, and maybe some other random stuff.

    CHICAGO SURGING

Chicago started the season on fire and part of me thought that it would taper off a bit when other top clubs started changing strategies.  This Chicago club did a little re-tooling after the loss of their goalie (COLE PEARCE).  They added some up-front talent in DB III @wcatsand Ryan Vidot @Enorama who have paired nicely with Chicago vets Scotty Sundin @fromtheinside and The Board Game Clue on Skates @MubbleFubbles.

On D they have legend, BoJO (MORE ON HIM LATER) and some decent help with Wattson Power.   In net they have a great replacement for Pearce in Alexander Minion @UnknownMinionwho already has 4 shutouts this year and a 1.76 GAA.  INSANE

This team has all the tools to make a deep run so I am interested to see how teams in the NA adjust when playing them.  There are great teams in the NA such as Calgary, Seattle, LA who are all within reaching distance of Chicago.  I don’t count out struggling clubs like Vancouver and NY as well.  Either way the NA conference Is exciting to watch.

LOSS OF A VHL LEGEND (HOPE IM WRONG)
Part of the way early last season VHL legend @Shindigs dropped away from the league without anyone really knowing why.  His last update was Jan 29, 2023 with his normal Max TPE points and then….nothing. Efforts to reach him have been futile and we can only hope everything is ok with BoJo.

Now, for those of you who are not familiar with Shindigs I am sorry you were never blessed with knowing him.  He was a huge motivator and student of the VHL.  He cared about not only making his player great but with mentoring all those new players trying to navigate the somewhat confusing path to VHL stardom.   I had the privilege of playing in the VHLE with Shindigs for Bratislava.  I credit him with a lot of the success I have had with Payne as he helped me truly craft my player.

There are countless stories of people who were helped by Shindigs and the league is a little less special without him here. He was a constant in the forum with great articles and thought-out responses that showed his love for this league.  I know I speak for everyone when I say we hope all is well with him and we hope to see him back someday.

    HELSINKI ON FIRE
As of the time of this writing the Titans on a 2-game win streak, have scored at league leading 76 goals, and are holding on to a 1 point lead over Prague for Division leader. The EU conference is known for having some evenly matched tough teams to claw through and we usually see the league leading team change numerous times throughout the season.  That being said, the Titans have come out swinging!

Up front, they are stacked with talent.  With the likes of Nils Godlander @Moon, Daryl Dixon @Ricer13, Matty Fire @MattyFired, Rick Grimes @tinafrombobsburgersthey are tough to keep off the scoresheets.  Godlander is currently in #3 spot overall is 31 points.

On Defense they have my favorite defenseman to watch, Mo Probert.  The undrafted warrior @Yahtzee gives you exactly the type of game you'd expect from his namesake.  However, in addition to hits, blocked shots, and grit you also are getting some decent scoring, including 7 power play goals this year.

Very exciting team to watch.   CYA next week

    The Hits Keep Coming:
Detroit breaks VHL all-time hits record, Lamb reaches 2000

Well, another VHL record has fallen, this time one not so old as some. Congratulations to Vinny Detroit @dasboot, who broke Druss Deathwalker’s @animal74 recently set VHL record for all-time hits in New York’s fifth game of the season against my new team, ironically, the Toronto Legion. With his seventh hit of the game, Detroit surpassed Deathwalker’s total of 2882 hits and finished with the new VHL record of 2885 after dishing out a season-high 9 hits.

Four games later against D.C., Detroit became the only player in VHL history with 2900 hits.

Vinny Detroit breaks VHL all-time hits record vs. Toronto

Other milestones the American power forward will reach shortly is 500 points as he is currently sitting at 492. He will become the 28th player in VHL history to reach 500 points and 2000 hits. Vasile Lamb @dlamb just recently became the 27th player to hit those marks (and first since Deathwalker’s former teammate Taylor Mourning @scoop in S86) when he became the 41st player to reach 2000 hits. When he reaches 500 points, Detroit will also become just the 15th player in VHL history with 500 points, 1000 penalty minutes and 2000 hits.

Despite breaking the all-time record, Detroit still trails Deathwalker and HOFer Brennan McQueen @Jamie for career hits-per-game average although that might change. The other feat that Detroit has yet to accomplish (although he has come close), is to reach 400 hits in a season which Deathwalker did twice (one of only four VHL players to ever record 400 hits twice).

Now, let’s look to the future: Which current players have the drive and recklessness to join the 2000 hit club? Here are five that VHLers should keep an eye out for:

Brian Payne @Scurvy Warsaw’s award-winning defenseman is currently the safest bet to reach 2000 hits and if he does, he’ll become only the 4th full-time defenseman to do so. He reached 300 hits for the first time last season and if he continues on his career average of 3.57 hits per game, 2000 will be but a formality.

Cobalt Burns @Ledge Burns has the highest hits/game average of all on this list having already dropped over 800 hits in his three-year career. Averaging 270 in those three seasons including reaching 311 last season, Burns is well on his way to hit the 2K milestone.

Igor Molotov @Dom Being a teammate of Deathwalker’s must have rubbed off on this former Nighthawk. After a couple of low-hit years to start his career, Molotov has averaged 265 in each of the last three seasons. If he continues at that pace, he’ll have a very good shot at 2000.

Mo Probert @Yahtzee A Malmo prospect coming through the pipe during Deathwalker’s final season, Probert must have seen how much fun hitting is as he’s been doing a lot of it. He had 312 hits last season and is among the hits leaders again this season. He’s still young but he’s off to a good start.

Molly the Cat @JCarson Another young player who likes to score as well as hit, Molly the Cat’s current career average is right on the cusp of getting to 2000 hits during their career. Keep them hits coming!

Joey Coaster @FANTEIGE And a quick shout out to Malmo’s newest thug sensation! Coaster currently ranks second in the league in hits as a rookie and is on pace for just shy of 300. If he keeps that up during his career, he may be the next one to challenge Detroit’s new record!

Will any of these players get close? Zach Parechkin’s @DollarAndADream record stood for 30 seasons, Druss Deathwalker’s only lasted 3. How long will Vinny Detroit’s record last once his career has finished? All we know is, in the VHL, the hits will just keep coming.

Congrats again to Vinny Detroit and Vasile Lamb on their milestones! You will be remembered for all the pain you’ve doled out over the years.

  24. Cheers
