  1. 1. Seems pretty good. I like that I’ve already met a few in discord which is good as they are active. 2. looking good. Maybe a goalie but I like our club 3. Team USA. I’m biased cuz I’m on the team 4. I went right to VHLe after draft. At that time you had to have 400 to get to VHL and I was at like 275 when I joined. It was fun. Met some good people 5. cup winners !!! I don’t care about stats 6. Still sitting in playoff spot but not great. I want them to win always but they disappoint me often
  2. The Pro-Am just ended and I am excited to see that my club the Detroit Dodos won first place in a hard fought battle with the Babylon Wonderers. Tokyo Blue Shells took the bronze over the Giza Pharoes in 7 games. Overall it was a fun tourney and thank you to all the GMs and people who put it on. Was a fun way to distract as we await the draft and the upcoming season. Babylon had some beasts up front and its no surprise that Daniel Janser led the league with 58 points in 33 games. He also led the playoffs with 10 goals in 12 games. Detroit had some major contributions from Brian Payne, Doug Britton, and Fat palloon with 12 assists each in 11 playoff games. They also had top three in hits with Igor Molotov (58), Brian Payne (48), and the legend Juan Ceson (44) showing that Detroit was going to play physical against the highly skilled Babylon club. The plan worked and Detroit won in 6. Congats to all the clubs and look forward to next year.
  3. As the off-seasons drones on its time for another installment of around the league in 500 words. I apologize if this is not as interesting as it is very hard to drum up topics in the off-season. I will do my best so let’s go! WELCOME NEW RECRUIT After months of hammering away at a friend and co-worker to join the VHL, he FINALLY did. He is an avid hockey fan so I thought it would be much easier but proved to be a struggle. I am hoping he becomes a solid earner and catches the VHL bug like I have. To date I am 50/50 on recruits. Jake Thunder @Thunderwas my first and became an immediate stud. Huge earner and has found joy in meeting new people and becoming one of the best defensemen in the game. My second was Huge Johnson. Huge languished in the VHLM for four or five seasons. Only clicked welfare and never once did a point task. I am hoping for my new recruit, Rip Wheeler @ScottyP will become a serious stud and frequent name in our community. I think it is important to attempt to recruit new members all the time and I am always on the lookout. WARSAW TRADE: In a late trade the Warsaw Predators traded for Calgary draft pick Tom Creeg @Creegan610. Creeg was Calgary’s 35th pick in S84 and has lit the lamp in his 3 seasons in the VHLM and won a Founders Cup with Philadelphia. Last season he was with the Rome Gladiators where he had 18 Goals 17 Assists with 35 points. At 604 and 185 the Preds are hoping he can help fill the void from losing all-star forward, Vasile Lamb. Creeg was a good fiscal pickup as the Preds are close to the cap so Creeg will be relied on to play good defensively and help score some goals along the way. Welcome Creeg to the Preds!!!!!! PRO-AM Well the Pro-AM is just about over with the playoffs starting. My team (Detroit) and the Babylon Wonders are playing soon I think, and it should be a good matchup. Of course, Daniel Janser is lighting the Pro Am up with 29 goals 29 assists in 33 games. Dude is a scoring machine. Excited to see who takes It all since they were evenly matched during the round robin. Detroit relies on Grit and physical play and have the top two penalty minute leaders in Brian Payne (91 PIM) and Juan Ceson (74 PIM). We will see if grit beats talent in the championship. BANKING FOR DEPRECIATION Well….last week I was talked about banking for deprecation next year and the temptation of adding points now won out. I Had 120 TPE burning a hole in my manage player page and it overwhelmed me. I added all but 24 points and it felt great. I am back to banking now but make no promises that I won’t add to Payne to try and help Warsaw get over the hump and back to a championship.
  4. Nice. Welcome to the league
  5. “Kahzak Kittens”. Hahahahaha
  6. Sean and Wrench would be terrible! Especially Sean
  7. Shit sorry. I started a new thread (didn't read directions). Ignore that last email @ScottyP and please respond to this one. Thank you. I recruited ScottyP today after months of bugging him. Don't let me down!!!!!
  8. I recruited @ScottyP. ScottyP please respond to this
  9. I thought your guys had the NA locked up. Amazing team and season. Shitty puck luck in the playoffs but it will turn around.
  10. This is by far the best post of the season. I look forward to it every off season! Thanks for the hard work. Although I'd love to Payne up there in majors again!!
  11. Ok the off-season is upon us and it gets harder and harder to do point tasks sometimes as a result. We have had a lot of stuff happen last week , a new VHL champ, World Cup, and Pro AM are starting so here we go with another Around the League in 500 words. Vancouver vs Prague The VHL finals came down to the wire and we saw two amazing teams battle it out in 7 games. Game 7 was very exciting and saw the Wolves needing OT to gain the win over a very underrated Prague club. Congrats to Pierrre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito for snapping home the OT winner, on the power play no less. Bouchard was first star with two goals and obviously a huge shout out to the two goalies, Brandt Fuhr and Clueless Wallob for such an amazing series. Congrats to the Wolves for a great season. MARLINS TAKE VHLM TiTLE I was happy to see the San Diego Marlins take home the Cup last week as that was my first team when I joined the VHL. I was happy to see Oreo McFleury @JB123 have an amazing season/playoffs as well. He lit the lamp with 11 goals 14 assists 25 points. I anticipate he will be a pretty high draft pick this off season and hope Warsaw is lucky enough to get him. Congrats Marlins! @jacobcarson877 WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY I make it no secret that I abhor the off-season. I know it has to happen, but it always seems I am not ready for it, it takes so long, and point tasks become harder and harder. That being said, this off season I am super excited about the World Cup. As I scrolled through the teams on the forum it amazes me just how many talented players there are that get left out. It’s a good problem to have in a league and shows how many people work so hard to make their players better. Team USA has medaled in 4 of the last 8 World Cups and plan to bring back their 5th. They are stacked with team defense, plenty of grit, amazing goalies, and some up-front beasts at forward. The other teams are stacked as well so I am eager to see this tourney start up. BANKED TPE STRUGGLES Well, this is more of a question and a rant. I am going into 5th VHL season and have begun banking TPE in preparation of my depreciation in a couple seasons. I have not done the math yet but have been encouraged by those smarter than me to start the process of banking to cover my losses TPE starting next off-season (S88). I currently have 103 in banked TPE (109 after this media spot) and it soooooo hard not to put the points in. I try to max every week, will purchase fighters, and donate for that bump in player store cash so I am fighting hard to remain good in my final season. At the end of day depreciation make your career interesting and forces some effort to remain solid in those final seasons. Well, that wraps it up for this week. Congrats to the Wolves again for a great season, may you loses every game to Warsaw next year though !! LOL
  12. Transaction ID: 46K620463C678592P Doubles Week 5 Uncapped TPE $1 million cash (player store)
  13. I know right! He could easily fill my shoes. I am excited to have him in Warsaw now though
  14. 1. I think he did great. Ran into some tough clubs and didn’t get some bounces. 2. hmmm. Not sure who’s avail. A solid defensive winger would be nice 3. Grab a good earner regardless of position. 4. Hmmm. Been a great Dad. 5. probably a goalie. 6. continue working out and eating healthy.
  15. As the dreaded off-season begins all VHL players look (and struggle) to fill the time until the start if the next season. Once such welcome distraction is the World Cup of Hockey starting here soon. I was excited to see the Team USA roster not only had my player, Brian Payne, but my good real life friend Jake Thunder @Thunderwas also going to be donning the Red, White, and Blue. Its already an honor to play for Team USA but as I looked at the some of the defense, I was getting to play with I was super excited. Erlantz Jokinsen @jRuutu, Max Torq,@Steve and Thunder are all formidable all-star defensive players. Each player brings toughness, play stopping ability, and the ability to lead an offensive rush. With solid team defense, gritty forwards that can score, team toughness (need I say more than Vinny Detroit), and amazing net minders Team USA is going to be very nasty to play against. Needless to say I am super excited for this year’s World Cup and want to wish the participating teams the best of luck.
  16. Great series. Best of luck! Brian Payne...
  17. 1. Hell Yeah!! I love it here. 2. I have referred two people. One was Jake Thunder and he's killing it, the other languished in the VHLM and only clicked weekly before quitting. I still try to recruit from my pool of friends and wil continue trying. 3. Having played two seasons with him in Warsaw, I have dirt, and would use it if he tried to trade me. lol. 4. Start banking TPE for depreciation 5. Well. I am hijacking your presser for TPE as we didn't have one this week (so far). I think you guys are very underrated and have some great pieces. Nalwa and Reinhart are legit All-Star defensmen, Davis is a stud in net (and my fantasy goalie), and some good players up front. Maybe a shutdown defensive center could help but I think your team is pretty good. 6. Well I am banking TPE but want to get my defense up a little bit more. We are short defenseman in Warsaw and I need to work on being a better shut down man. Thanks for letting me chirp in here. Best of luck next year and happy new year!!
  18. Awesome!!!!
  19. With an early off-season the Warsaw Predators are disappointed in their early playoff exit. Losing in 7 to a very underrated Prague club the Preds have some unanswered questions going into S87. With tough cap issues and some glaring defensive needs the Preds are going to try to bring as many of the core nucleus that has brought success over the last few seasons, to include a Cup win. Team GM @N0HBDYwasted no time bringing back defensemen, Brian Payne and Jeff Buffy @Strider. Both Dmen play a heavy rough game and Payne has some offensive upside provided he can stay out of the penalty box. The GM also signed Gritty goal scorer Brendan Marner @MetalToday, and the quiet and effective duo in Sock Monkey @chiknand Johnny Xavier @Johnny_HX. Both are quiet professionals who have put up 20 goals in the last two season and more is expected in the coming years. The tough questions are can the Preds re-sign two elite forwards in Girts Galvins @Girts and Vasile Lamb @dlamb. Both are truly amazing players and even better teammates. I am not sure how it works with Cap and all that and the Preds still need to find a goalie and maybe another Defenseman. My hope is that they all return, and we can make another cup run but I recognize the business of the game and it can’t always work out. Either way I wish all Preds current and former the best of luck in the league.
  20. Happy New Year everyone and here for another installment of Around the League in 500 words. I hope everyone is looking forward to the new year and not too hung over from last night’s festivities. A lot happened this week in the VHL. For some of us the long off season begins early (which is SUPER Painful). Some elite playoff contenders got eliminated and a Dark Horse Phantom team is taking the EU league by force. Here we go CALGARY ELIMINATED The seemingly unstoppable Calgary Wranglers dominated the regular season with 48 wins and only 13 losses. They are stacked to the roof with talent with the likes of Daniel Janser (120 points), Landon Wolanin (99 points), and AirRig GoodBrandSun (93 points). They seemed to be the team destined for a deep playoff run in the NA conference. I had them picked to win the North American conference. This is the second year in a row that this powerful ass team was bounced in first round of playoffs. Not sure what happened really but that is the Hockey Gods at work. I look for Calgary to make a few adjustments in off season and I expect them to be just as good next year. Also, huge shoutout to Vancouver for such an amazing series. PRAGUE IS TRULY HOME TO PHANTOMS If you recall (you probably don’t) I wrote an article at the beginning of the season about how good Prague was going to be this year and I even picked them to be at the top of the EU conference. The regular season they stayed competitive after a strong start but they were o overshadowed by Moscow, Warsaw, and Davos trading punches for first place in division. They stayed in the shadows until the end of the season where they went on a crazy run passing by Davos to lock a playoff spot and forcing Davos to play in Wildcard. Prague then went down 3 games to 1 to a tough offensive Warsaw club. They didn’t panic and methodically came back and knocked Warsaw to some early Tee Times at the golf course. This team is scary tough and has now taken a 3-1 lead over Davos in finals. They have a league leading 45 goals in 11 games and they show no signs of slowing down. Congrats on the great run. NA FINAL IS CLOSE Fresh off their upset of Calgary the Vancouver Wolves are in a tight battle with Chicago. It seems like yesterday to me that I saw Chicago at the bottom of the standings earning them the #1 overall pick where they grabbed phenom Scotty Sundin. Adding him to the performance enhanced Glue Clue crew of Bo Johansson and Board Game Clue on Skates and the addition of Baby Bob this team has been contenders ever since. This is an exciting matchup between two really close teams with great goaltending on both sides, tough defense, and some pure scorers. My Prediction: Chicago in 7 Happy New Year VHL!
  21. 1. Read more 2. Girts Galvins 3. Davos 4. I think Moscow is just a tough team to beat. Lots of playoff experience makes them deadly. 5. eating too much and chilling with family 6. I think it would be pretty busy. Teams are in that window where there either all in or out now.
  22. Its Christmas week and everyone I hope is having a very happy and relaxing holiday. It’s time for another week of some random things going on around the league (in about 500 words). There has been cool events and games and some people I’d like to highlight. So here we go. QUEST FOR 400 HITS: Davos tough guy, Vinny Detoit @dasbootposted earlier this week about his quest to break 400 hits this season. Needing 10 hits in his final game to break it he sadly got 8 (which is still great) ending the season with a massive 398 hits. Add to this he’s scored 30 goals and 209 minutes in the Sin Bin. A remarkable accomplishment that had him first overall in hits- 94 hits more than the #2. Detroit has 2513 hits in his career and should go down on the list as one of the greats at smashing opposing players. Congrats! VANCOUVER CAME TO PLAY The first round of the playoffs is upon us and I think to the surprise of everyone (except Vancouver) they have jumped out to a 3-1 lead over the Calgary Wranglers. The Wranglers are a perennial powerhouse of talent with the likes of Landon Wolanin, Daniel Janser, and Leandro Goncalves up front and Logain Ablar and AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainmenton the blue line. I still would not count them out as if any team can make a comeback, Calgary can. But kudos to Frank and the Wolves for putting up some great games. SHOUTOUT TO SBA AFFILIATE LEAGUE Well… as if I am not busy enough, I signed up for the Simulation Basketball league and created a point guard. I just wanted to say I am lost as hell navigating that space as I was when I started in the VHL. I am hoping to not suck anytime soon but that is doubtful. Much different set up and for a not so savy computer person I struggle to learn how to complete PT and look at scores. I will say that it is fun and a great group of people, many familiar names from VHL are there too. DAVOS GETTING HOT AT RIGHT TIME Davos had a great season that showed many ups and downs. At many points during the season they were in first place, only to drop to fifth at other points. This is mostly due to the skill of the EU conference as a whole. But with such amazing talent they started the Wildcard round with a chip on their shoulder and rolled through a very good London club 3 games to 0, while only allowing 6 goals. They are facing a nasty Moscow Menace club that has deep playoff experience and know who to compete in the tough games. The series is tied 2-2 going into the Christmas break and I am exicted to see how this series plays out. Tough guy Vinny Detroit is leading the league in points (15) and goals (6). Both teams have exceptional talent in front and blue line and two All-Star level goalies so it can go either way. Best of luck everyone and happy holidays.
  23. With the Christmas break upon us and the playoffs first round underway the Warsaw Predators have seen themselves jump up to a 3-1 series lead on the very deadly Prague Phantoms. After splitting game 1 and 2, Game 3 came out with a bang. Warsaw jumped to an early lead with first period goals by Bob Beach and Zach Kisslinger. That is when things got nasty. Silent assassin Girts Galvins dropped the gloves twice, once with Perry Laperrierre and once with Nils Goldlander. This livened the Phantoms up and after two quick second period goals they tied it up. A later second period goal by Brendan Marner (assisted by Galvins) let the Preds head to the locker room up by 1. Prague tied it up on the third and leading to a climatic overtime where the Galvins sniped a game winner and getting the Gordie Howe Hat Trick. Game 4 was more of the same showing Payne and Laperriere trying to get at in the first and some trading of goals. Godlander sniped his fourth of the year in the first giving the Phantoms the lead. Girts Galvins showed why he is a playoff performer notching a goal and assist in the third period. Just like a story book story, Galvins AGAIN won the game in OT at the 1:27 mark! Amazing. Both Goalies should be commended as well with Wumbo making 50 saves in 52 shots and Wallob stopping 39 of 42. 4 points by Galvins in the win. I am sure Prague will make some adjustments and have shown why they deserve to be named as one of the best in the EU conference.
