  6. Twenty four hours after lifting the Continental Cup alongside his fellow Nighthawks, Gunnar Odinsson is already contemplating his next move along the path of his VHL journey. After signing a 2 year deal, in case Malmo failed to win it all this season, Odinsson was in contact with the AGM within hours of the Game 6 victory to begin the negotiations of his exit from Malmo. There is no animosity from the Norwegian winger, just a sense of satisfaction that he has gained from achieving glory alongside his excellent teammates, especially fellow Legion refugee, Scotty Kaberle. Odinsson has been quoted in the past, saying that his intention to sign with Malmo was to do everything he could to assist to lift the cup this season, and with Brendan Telker more then ready to lead the Nighthawks title defense, perhaps the time is right for the Nighthawks to capitalize on any remaining value that Gunnar has, and accumulate some assets from the ageing player. Alarmingly, there has been radio silence from the Malmo front office ever since the initial contact post-victory, and perhaps management are hoping this discussion will just fade away. Unfortunately Odinsson continues to push for a response and may be forced to take matters into his own hands unless further communication is incoming. Odinsson has been traded several times already, leading to speculation that he is somewhat of a locker room cancer. That may, or may not be true, however after being traded by Helsinki to Toronto, then Toronto to Calgary and then from Calgary to Davos before finally signing in Free Agency with Malmo, it might just be a true reflection of Gunnar at this point in his career. The guy teams think they want, then realize halfway through the season that there are better options out there, or better fits at least. The Player Agency behind Odinsson is well known for their dislike of the VHL's regression rules, so S80 may very well be the final time he plays in the VHL. That may make some people sad, disappointed or more likely glad, but it will be, at the very least, interesting to see whether this final season is in a Nighthawks uniform.
