Dabnad reacted to Thunder in Bone Crushers!
It is certainly getting tougher and tougher each week to come up with a topic to write about.  I’m about to the point of just clicking welfare and training just to avoid having to write anymore.  This shit’s gotta change, especially now that I’m only earning so that depreciation coming up doesnt hit me so hard.  While searching for something to write about, I came up with a list that beats all lists.  And with a little filtering I came up with an idea.  To narrow it down, I had to pick out only active players and went from there.  From this list of 300, I took the top 20 active players who impact games with brutality, bone crushing, show no mercy skills.  If you were tagged for this, you made the list, and I can pretty much guarantee that you will never be even remotely eligible for the Lady Byng Trophy.  So, congratulations to all of you!  Keep in mind, these are active players as of the time of my research and by the time this is in print, your stats likely changed for the better.

Vinny Detroit @dasboot, leads all players, active and retired, with 3099 hits in 629 games played.  Vinny started VHL in season 80 and has been crushing opponents for 5 different teams.  By the end of season 88, Vinny will have a record that will be incredibly hard to beat.  In addition to his outrageous hits, Vinny spends a fair amount of time in the penalty box, with 1704 PIM.  At an average of 5 hits per game, Vinny Detroit is the biggest bad ass of powerful bad asses!  He deserves the #1 ranking.

Vasile Lamb @dlamb, is #2 of active players, pounding opponents with 2177 hits in only 487 games played.  Vasile is on pace at 4.47 hits per game and started bone crushing in the VHL in season 82, and has played for 4 different teams.  Vasile has spent 1011 minutes in the sin bin.  Vasile has some time left in the VHL to attempt to get closer to Vinny’s record, but its not likely he’ll match it.

Zach Kisslinger II @Kisslinger, ranks #3 on the hit list of active players.  Zach started the VHL in season 81 and is at the end of his career, so he will move down on the list.  Zach is able to boast 1678 hits in 557 games, all with Warsaw, at 3 hits per game.  Zach has spent much less time in the penalty box than other bone crushers, but still has a respectable 685 PIMS.  Zach’s career is a definite plus.

Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream , records 2.9 hits per game and currently holds the #4 rank of active players who like to hurt opponents.  Saku started earning stats in season 81 and has played for 4 different teams.  Saku has hit opponents 1607 times in 557 games.  Saku will overtake Zach by the end of season 88 and move up to the #3 spot.  With 699 PIMS, its likely to see that number increase slightly by the end of the season.  What is it with you players with long ass names making it a pain in the ass for me to type the correctly spelled name?

Brendan Marner @MetalToday, now that’s a nice easy name to spell.  Brendan holds the #5 slot of active players for heavy hitters and is another leader who has played only for Warsaw, and records 3.2 hits per game.  Brendan has 1566 hits in only 485 games.  Brendan started in season 82, and has some time left to move up in the power ranking before retiring.  Sitting in the penalty box 693 minutes has only slowed down Brendan’s pace to come close to Vinny’s hits.

Nico Pearce @Spartan , is #6 on the active list of all time hits.  Nico has played on 4 different teams in the VHL, starting in season 81.  Nico is right on Marner’s tail with 1551 hits, although he’s played 558 games.  Nico is a little better disciplined than Marner, with 660 PIM.  At 2.7 hits per game, Nico has a slight chance of moving up to #4 someday, but unlikely to move above that.  It’s obvious that Nico’s Jersey lifestyle has contributed to his meanness on the ice.

Brian Payne @Scurvy, currently ranks #7 on the all time active hit list.  Don’t let the fact that outside the rink he’s always wearing spandex with the “Curves” logo fool you.  Brian is a monster on the ice.  In only 413 games, Brian has hit 1485 opponents.  At 3.6 hits per game, he’s not about to go after Vinny Detroit’s record, but he could eventually move up the list quite easily.  If Brian could stay out of the penalty box, he might be able to move his hits per game up as well.  The Payne Train has 1251 PIM already and is only 450 PIM behind Detroit.  The undisciplined powerhouse has only played for Warsaw since season 83 and has a couple more seasons to bump his stats.  I’m beginning to see a pattern here that Warsaw produces some serious beasts and promotes heavy hitting and aggressive play, which is right where Payne belongs.  Now, if you are reading this and you wonder why I’m giving Payne so much more ink than others, its because I know him IRL, and he is anything but a tough guy IRL.  He’s a squishy little lamb who pisses all over his leg at the first sign of trouble, so he is able to be tough in the VHL!

Sven Eightnine @BarzalGoat, is #8 currently on the list of meat eaters.  He started his punishing in season 81 and has only played for Seattle and New York.  At a shocking 2.6 hits per game, Sven has played 558 games and has 1425 hits. Sven is on pace to maintain the #8 spot but there’s another hitter right on his tail with 1423 hits.  At first glance you would think Alessandro Nano might overtake Sven, but unlike Sven, Alessandro has played out his seasons. Sven has also spent 857 minutes in the penalty box.

Alessandro Nano @leafsman, is currently #9 and his stats are so close to Sven Eightnine, you’d think they were twins.  Alessandro has played 558 games and has 1423 hits registered, making an impressive 2.6 hits per game.  He has also been in the sin bin for 881 minutes.  Alessandro started in season 81, and has played for 3 teams, but not for Warsaw.  Alessandro is retiring and his stats will be frozen soon.

Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser, rounds out the list of top 10 active hitters in the VHL.  He’s been in the league since season 82, playing for only 1 team, not Warsaw!  At 2.8 hits per game, Daniel has played 485 games and has recorded 1380 hits with 695 PIM.  Daniel is Calgary’s current leader and is the team tough guy.  He’s only a short number from moving up to the #9 spot and dropping Alessandro.  With a couple more successful seasons, Daniel could move up a few spots.

Matty Fire @MattyFired, is currently #11 on the all time list of bone crushers at just under 2 hits per game.  Matty has 1245 hits in 631 games.  He started in season 80 playing for 4 different teams.  Matty is somewhat disciplined with only 538 minutes in the box.  There is quite a gap between the #11 spot and Janser in the #10 spot, which makes it unlikely Matty will move up in the ranking.  Nevertheless, #11 all time is a good number to be at.  There are only 10 better than Matty.

Tavish DeGroot @rory, is currently #12 on the active list and has some seasons left to boost his stats and move up.  He started in season 82, playing for 5 different teams, Tavish hits no matter where he plays.  With 1223 hits in only 487 games, Tavish has some room to grow with 2.5 hits per game.  And 855 penalty minutes only prove that Tavish doesn’t back down and can hurt any opponent.  It’s probable that Tavish moves up at least 2 spots before he hangs up his skates, or I should say he stops taping his knuckles.

Dabnad Shaw @Dabnad started in season 83 and is currently #13 on the active list of punishers.  Dabnad has played in 414 games and has 1160 hits already.  Dabnad could knock down a few above him but his pace of 2.8 hits per game needs to boost in order for him to move up any further on the list.  He spends a fair amount of time in the penalty box with 925 PIM.  Dabnad is a steady player who has been on two teams in the VHL.

Igor Molotov @Dom, is currently #14 on the top active hit list.  He started in season 83 and has played for Malmo and London.  Igor has recorded 1114 hits in 413 games.  Igor is a disciplined destroyer with only 541 PIM.  At 2.7 hits per game, Igor can only move up on this list, possibly 2 or 3 spots before retiring.

Cadmael Ixazaluoh @Vice, hits opponents on average over 2.2 times per game, currently ranks #15 on the VHL all time active hit list.  Cadmael has been with Toronto since season 82 and has recorded 1089 hits in 486 games.  In addition to hitting for Toronto, he has spent 799 minutes in the box.  Cadmael has a small chance of moving up in the ranks, with a little aggressiveness and attitude.  And here’s another name that was hard to spell causing my eyes to blur!

Perry Laperriere @KaleebtheMighty, currently ranks #16 on the hit list, and #1 or #2 on making it difficult for me to type without a misspelled name.  Perry L has only played for one team, not Warsaw, since season 83, and has registered 1056 hits in 412 games.  At 2.6 hits per game, it won’t take long for Perry to move up in the ranking.  Perry has also spent 439 minutes in the penalty box for Prague.  Quite frankly, the more time in the box when Perry is facing Davos, the happier I will be!

Maximus Decimus Meridius @Beaviss, WTF, another long ass name to screw with me.  Maximus is currently ranked #17 on the active hit list and has played 453 games hitting opponents 1028 times.  At 2.3 hits per game, Maximus will not pass Perry but may overtake Cadmael before retirement.  Maximus is a disciplined player with 401 PIM, playing for 3 teams since season 82.

Cobalt Burns @Ledge, averages 3.8 hits per game and is currently ranked #18 on the active hit list.  There is only one place to go for Cobalt, and that is up on the list as Cobalt has played in the VHL since season 85 and is still building his TPE.  With only 270 games under his belt and registering 1023 hits, Cobalt is a menace to be watched.  Playing for 3 teams thus far, I can see other teams looking to latch onto Cobalt for the help to raise the cup.  Cobalt already has 406 PIM, and although he doesnt have a chance of breaking Detroit’s record, he will hold onto a PIM leaderboard spot.

Ronan Lavelle @Arce, is currently #19 on the active hit list.  Averaging 2.4 hits per game, Ronan has plenty of time to move up on the list of active hitters.  Ronan has played in 414 games and has 1010 hits registered to his name.  Playing on two teams since season 83, Ronan has also spent 444 minutes in the penalty box.  Now, Ronan may not pass Cobalt, he will likely move up at a steady pace until he retires.

Nezuko @Baozi, finishes the list of the top 20 active bone crushers.  I don’t think Nezuko will stay in the top 20 with an average of 2 hits per game, but while Nezuko is on the list, Nezuko gets credit.  Nezuko has played on 4 teams since season 82 and has registered 989 hits in 486 games.  Nezuko is the most disciplined player on the top 20 active list with 361 PIM.

It should be noted that this list is fluid and by tomorrow there may be a different player holding the #20 slot, and eventually there will be more than 20 active players in the top 300 list.  Pay attention to Phil Strasmore @Phil who has a career average of 3 hits per game and is currently #2 on season 88 top 10 hitters.  In addition, Joey Coaster @FANTEIGE, averages 4.1 hits per game as a rookie.  Mo Probert @Yahtzee, is in the top 10 hitters for season 88, and has a career average of 3.2 hits per game.  These three players will be rising up the list quickly as they get more games under their belts.

Dabnad reacted to KRZY in The LA Stars and their NHL Counterparts
Well it’s that time in the season again where I look at whatever team Todd Cooke is on and compare every player and the GM to their NHL Counterparts. This season like the past 2 I’ll compare the LA Stars to theirs .

let’s get started with LA’s forwards

    Nezuko LW ( @Baozi ) Johnny Gaudreau
While Gaudreau had a down year by his standards in his first year with Columbus I do see a lot of similarities between these 2 players in size , production and the way they both play and think the game . Nezuko is a offensive player that produces and makes something from nothing . Similarly to Johnny hockey this season is a fresh start aswell for nezuko coming to LA in one of their huge off season moves . It has truly been exciting to see how he’s fit into the fold with the Stars so far this season.

    Sirdsvaldis  Miglaskems C ( @FrostBeard ) Leon Draisatl
The team captain returns to LA this Seson after winning both the Scotty Campbell Trophy and the Kevin Brooks. Sirdsvaldis has done everything and more for the Stars in his 4 seasons in LA . He’s looking to guide them to a Continental Cup aswell . The Big Centre has been the motor and heartbeat of the Stars for as long as he’s been here and will continue to be that the rest of this season.

    Todd Cooke C Tage Thompson
Cooke has flown under the radar and gone relatively unnoticed early in his VHL career like Thompson in the early days of his NHL career . Cooke is looking to BREAK out this season as a premier Centre in the VHL . Always in the play and a guy that never ever gives up Cooke is someone you would rather play with then against. This kids just getting started there’s tons more to come !

    Sunglasses Joyo C ( @JetsGoalie101 ) Tomas Hertl
Joyo loves to have fun , heck the guy wears Sunglasses on the ice while he’s playing hockey , his game reminds me of Hertls who is another guy that loves to have fun on the ice and in the locker room . Joyo is young and has a ton of potential I’m excited for him to find and reach that potential!

    Jack Hextall C ( @Jack Feriancek ) Adam Henrique
Jack is another veteran Forward LA acquired this off-season, he’s an energy guy that can play up and down in your line up just like Henrique can . Hextall can thrive in most positions and Carry’s himself with high professionalism and character and plays the game the right way.

Robert Wilk RW ( @Tomat0 ) Anthony Mantha
Wilk is the last new addition to the Stars Forward group . He’s a big gritty winger that can contribute on the scoresheet aswell as go to the dirty areas on the ice to make plays for his team . Wilk has been a very welcomed addition to LA and adds to their impressive depth !

Next we’ll take a look at the Stars outstanding defence core .

    Callum Murray ( @Berocka ) Victor Hedman
I believe I compared Murray to Hedman last season as well but honestly it hard not to , they’re both huge shutdown defenders that contribute in so many ways to their teams . Murray was arguably the Stars unsung hero last season , he was also nominated for many top defenceman awards specifically top defensive defenceman and top overall defenceman. I think that speaks for itself when talking about special players and things they can achieve . I truthfully believe that Murray will win multiple top defenceman awards throughout his career .

Scoish Velociraptor Maliosh ( @youloser1337 ) Quinn Hughes
Maliosh has been a machine for the Stars this season , he’s given his all every single night trying to establish himself as a top defenceman in the VHL . If he keeps up the great work this season I truly think he’ll be in that conversation by the end of the season . Also on another note he recently blocked his 1000th career shot proving and reinforcing how valuable he truly is to his team.

    Dabnad Shaw ( @Dabnad ) Mattias Ekholm
Shaw was LA’s HUGE ad on the back end this off season and like Ekholm has for the oilers since the trade deadline , Shaw has provided good solid defence and been a revalation on the back end for a team that lacked defensive help last season . Shaw has been everything you could ask for from a shutdown defender in this league . Allowing Murray and Maliosh d to contribute offensively and in the transition game aswell .

Last but not least the Goaltender

    Art Vandelay ( @Gustav  ) Igor Shesterkin
the other MVP candidate nominated from the stars last season . Art is quickly establishing himself as an elite tendy in the VHL . Nominated for many rewards last season . I truly believe Vandelay is the Stars X factor and a huge reason they will eventually win a continental cup in the coming seasons if not this season !

    GM
    @InstantRockstar Zack Gagnon
    Ken Holland
Gagnon rebuilt this team and has turned them into a contender whether it’s making huge trades for impact additions , or signing big names to play in LA . One of his most impressive points to his resume is the way he develops prospects and constantly drafts active members and good players consistently. Letting the develop until they are ready for the VHL

There you have it folks let me know what you thought of these comparisons!

Dabnad reacted to Beketov in Forgive my Sentimentality
    Hello everyone,

Not gonna bother with a members tag on this, if you see it then great, you will be rewarded for that. If you don’t then…. Well why am I writing this because if you don’t see it how can you read this part?

Anyway, today marks 5717 days (that’s 15 years, 7 months, and 26 days if you’re curious) since the VHL opened its doors. What a random number you might say, why does that matter? Well if I do the math, and I have, I was born 5717 days before the start of the VHL. Given that I joined on day one and have been here ever since that means today marks the official day that I have been in the VHL just as long as I was outside of it. Is that a stupid thing to celebrate? Probably but that won’t stop me; so please let me indulge in a bit of sentimentality for a moment.

When the VHL started I had not yet completed high school, I had never had a girlfriend, hell I had never kissed a girl. I was a lonely nerd turning to the internet to find something to do; and I found it. The VHL was not my first sim league, wasn’t even the first one I joined ran by the people who ran it, but it was the first that felt different and felt like it had a good chance of surviving which so few at that point had done. I found a community here. I cannot honestly say that everything went perfectly or that my start in the VHL was without fault; I very nearly left for good within 2 months, but I stayed. I have now not only finished high school but university and going on 10 years working post-schooling. I have now not only had a steady relationship but a wife and two children, a life. All the while the VHL has been there, constantly evolving with the times sure but present. Over 5 years ago I took up the mantel of commissioner. I did it not because I thought I was necessarily the best person for the job but because I thought the league needed something, it was in trouble and I didn’t want to see it fail. I like to think that in these 5 years of growth I have at least stalled that failure.

5717 days likely means nothing to any of you, just as that paragraph likely means nothing to any of you, but it means something to me. This league, this place, this community has been a standard in my life for longer than most anything else. I’m not going anywhere right now, that’s not what this is, but I did want to mark the occasion because this league does mean a lot to me.

So if you’ve made it this far feel free to take 5 uncapped TPE for your troubles, on me. I’m not sure the insane total I’ve had over the years (probably over 10k by now) so 5 for everyone that I bored with this story should suffice as a thank you for being my weird extended internet family.

Dabnad reacted to KaleebtheMighty in S87 Malmo Nighthawks Team Leadership
For S87, we had our leadership squad named before the season began. I realized though that I never posted it here, so....here we go!

C - BORIS TZESAR - @comrade cat | It is an absolute pleasure to name our captain this season. Our goalie has been steadfast, loyal, and a great personality in the locker room. We are honored to have them wear the C for the Nighthawks!

A - MAX TORQ - @Steve | A veteran on the team for a few seasons now, Torq commands the blue line and maintains a presence in the locker room that boosts the rest of our team with earning and interaction. Without a doubt, he absolutely deserves this letter!

A - DABNAD SHAW - @Dabnad | Another blueliner who comes to the locker room each day and brings a wonderful personality to the team. Being named assistant captain for the first time since I've GMed Malmo, he definitely deserves it!

We welcome this squad and expect great things from this group for S87!

Dabnad got a reaction from Keno in Shaw Journey: from the M to the E to the big league
Alright, everyone, Shaw is back for another article. Today we will be talking about the journey of Shaw going all the way from the M in Mexico City, to Geneva in the land of the Swiss, and now in Malmo, for forever and ever (until Mr. Kaleeb @KaleebtheMightytrades me). Today we will be talking about how the leagues are different, how people and your experience are different, what changes there are in the different leagues, and some things which remain the same no matter where you go in the league. This is about to be an article of decent length so sit tight and relax and have fun with this article.

Alright, first we start with the baby leagues and talk about the VHLM. This league is the first league you go into when you first come into the league (or make a new player). The VHLM ( or the M for short) is where you start learning about the league. You learn about how the league works and what you do in it. For Shaw, this was his first season ever. He had learned about this league from a YouTube channel and thought “Oh! This seems fun” and made a player. He had absolutely no idea what this was, or that he was in for the time of his life. In this land of Mexico, Shaw met two and a half men and his GM. First, he met his GM, whose name was Youloser @youloser1337. This man was one-third of the reason that the article that you are reading this article right now. The next person that has heavily influenced me into staying in this league in my long-time father friend by the name of Arcey @Arce. Any other variation of his name is incorrect it’s not RC that’s a remote-controlled car. Arcey was my guide, mentor, and the person who helped me stay in this league by teaching me the basics of this league along with You(loser). Him and You taught me my alphabet in the league. The next person who Shaw met in the league is my year-long friend (I keep my friendships for a long time) and currently the guy I put my body on the line for, Mr. Cat @comrade cat. I’m surprised his name hasn’t been banned from the league yet. Mr. Cat and I go back some time, including recording 3 podcasts of an hour each year having nothing to show for it, from the M and now the big leagues, he’s been a helpful friend while being a guide for what to expect. The last half-man who I met in this league was none other than the infamous, the impossible, the iconic, LEMORSE @Lemorse7. Mr. Lemorse helped teach Shaw the bigger parts of the league later on in his career however, they first met in Mexico City, Lemorse had also coined the term The Three Mosquitos (derived from the three musketeers) referring to the bond for Cat, Shaw, and Arce. These guys made a decent run in the VHLM however, the very next year, all three left the VHLM for the VHLE where  Shaw and Acrey left for Geneva and Boris went to Rome.

Geneva was an interesting experience from the M. In the M, you’re guided every step of the way, while in the E, you have some freedom but also have enough guidance. As most of you are old enough, think elementary school going into middle school. In the E, I hadn’t met many people except the very famous man Minion. I still haven’t found his real age, gotten numbers from 14 to 41. Minion, and having some help from Arcey, helped the transition from the M to the E fairly smooth with minimal bumps. The E was a fun experience, teaching you what you’re going to need to know for the big league without really rushing you into it which is nice. I like the concept of the league in the middle as it helps slow things down. Other than that, not much happened in the E. This was mainly just a way to not get stuck in the VHLM for too long and not get bullied in the VHL so it was a good thing since it encouraged us to keep on earning to get into the VHL. The VHLE had a lack of playoffs for Shaw however, he definitely appreciated the stuff in the VHLE to help the transition.

Between the VHLE and the VHL, the entire league saw a huge change, the change from regular attributes to hybrid attributes. This, surprisingly, did not hurt Shaw as much as most people. This was as a result of Shaw having a single category focused and since he was still in the E, he had time to see what he should and shouldn’t change. Along with guidance from Minion and Lemorse, the transition from such a big change in between these two leagues was fairly smooth sailing.

Now, in the VHL, we go to Malmo. It’s been 4 years since I got here, we first had @Domas our GM. Now guess who our AGM was, yep you guessed it, in fact even my keyboard guessed it, it was Lemorse. The VHL is probably the most interesting league of them all. It’s like high school, you have the independence to choose what classes you want but have some restrictions depending on your team. Similarly, you have the guidance you need, however it’s mainly on yourself to choose what you want. The VHL has been quite the ride, in fact I will probably be writing an article about the VHL itself soon so I won’t go into too much depth about it right now, but to summarize it, this season, I also met @animal74who was a great veteran and guide to my carrer. Dom got one of the mosquito back for the low low price of a 4th. Dom and Lemorse both had to retire from their posts due to personal reasons, we now have @KaleebtheMightyrunning this whole operation so he must get his sidekick who was @Spaz. We also meet many other people during this time including veteran defence man Max Torq @Steveand rookie Mo Probert @ItsScoot.

Alright everyone, so that was a short summary of how the league works from Shaw’s perspective and different experiences from the different leagues. I won’t bore you with the outro, this will be Dabnad Shaw, signing off one more time, until next time, this is Dabnad Shaw signing off.

Dabnad got a reaction from Spartan in Shaw Journey: from the M to the E to the big league
