  1. Watchmen Press Conference (Week Ending August 7th) Answering 3 questions gets you 1 Capped TPE Answering 6 questions gets you 2 Capped TPE We're on the hunt for the number 1 spot in the VHLE. How eager are you to get it? Oslo has settled bottom of the league for the season. How can they turn things around? Bratislava won the cup last season and has been able to maintain competitive this season. Could you see it happening next season? Tyler Busser is about to hit the 100-point mark. How impressive has he been for Istanbul? The rules have changed. A 300 TPE player can now be called up to the VHL. Would you go for it, having the chance or would you rather have another season of progression in the VHLE? We've had a great influx of players in the VHL this past week. How great is that?
  2. My guy, Brandon! I am so happy you're enjoying your time here, and I appreciate your kind words! I'm a bit mad at myself for not being able to meet you for a meal while you were here, but it was impossible this past week - even taking into account the thousands of kilometers/miles you've flown to be here. That said, I'll get in touch with you later since you're continuing your trip down south! Some more recommendations you may find appealing If that happens, I'll schedule a couple of days off in advance to show you around
  3. The VHFL is a rollercoaster environment. You start your season with high hopes and players to target, but all of a sudden, the user who is picking before you chooses the player you had in mind. Now, you're on the clock scrambling, and who should you take? You go through your list. You compare players, and you find someone worthy of your pick. You confirm the player, and now you breathe because it's time to think about the next player you are taking. The draft ends, and you're into the season hoping for the players you picked to perform well. What now, you ask? (...) Moving up and down, side to side, like a rollercoaster Moving up and down, side to side, like a rollercoaster (...) You're in the rollercoaster bit. Some are playing great, others suffer from their teams' inconsistency, but then there are others... who just plainly suck for the VHFL. Why did I have to pick them, though?
  4. I'm about a thirty-minute drive away from kidnapping Brandon and make you trade him to Calgary for future considerations! Don't test me! Please don't.
  5. Watchmen Press Conference (Week Ending July 31st) Answering 3 questions gets you 1 Capped TPE Answering 6 questions gets you 2 Capped TPE The trade deadline has passed and we've decided not to move any pieces. Do you think that's the right call? We can clinch a playoff spot this week. Do you think we're going to? We're a couple of weeks from the playoffs. How excited are you? We have two players in the scoring top 3. Do you think we'll have a scoring leader by the end of the season? How good has Orion been in goal for us this season? Bratislava to Budapest is a two-hour drive. There's a Formula 1 race in Budapest this weekend. You in!?
  6. I'm once again asking for your attention. Another week has gone by in our beloved VHL. 'Theme Week' Point Tasks were made, Birthday Bonus redeemed, but in the end, it's time for something we all don't really care about. Well, I spend my time writing about it for small pay, which I immediately spend on my player, who is still skeptical about making my own list. Well, this is going up as a Media Spot this week, so... suck it? Yeah, suck it, inner voice! Anyway, I ramble. It has been another fascinating week for our rookies, which I hope makes a compelling read for you. Except for Bouchard... that trade to Vancouver hasn't been easy. Let's get to it! -- 5. Pierre Emile Bouchard (Last week: 1st) The trade that moved Bouchard from New York to Vancouver has turned his rookie season around, but not in a good way. This last week, Bouchard played 14 games for Vancouver with a total of 4 points and a plus/minus of -23. For comparison, his total in New York was -17. Of course, this past week wasn't all bad, but it was overwhelmingly negative and led to this 4-place drop. 4. Callum Murray (Last week: 4th) Aussie, Callum Murray! Is he glued to 4th? No. But would that be bad? No. The truth is that Callum is doing everything right but suffers from being on a bad team. But his efforts don't go unrecognized. Is our number 4, but a good 4! 10 points, 24 hits, and 47 shots blocked. These are incredible numbers themselves, but he plays for the Stars, and they are the 3rd-worst team in the league. Even so, this past week, he has a plus/minus of -3. Not too bad, Callum! 3. Red Gaming (Last week: 5th) Red Gaming has been a staple for the Phoenix this season. Chicago currently holds 3rd place in the North American conference, but nothing on the team screams they're exceptional. There's no overwhelming stat or player, but they've found some consistency in that madness. At the center of it all is the goaltender with the most shots against this season, Red Gaming. This past week? 14 games, with 8 wins. Save percentage? Up. GAA (Goals Against Average)? Down. What more do you want? Shutouts? 2! Could we see a late push for the Aidan Shaw? 2. Landon Wolanin (Last week: 3rd) The Wrangler, Wolanin. Legend says you can't take him out of the gym. Always trying to improve his game, he'd be a worthy number 1 on this list. He's maintaining his level on a Calgary team that is still struggling but slowly improving its level. Landon played 15 games this week and scored 10 points, evenly divided between goals and assists, which shows Landon's presence in team play. With a +5 on the plus/minus column and a game-winner, he deserves this number 2 spot on the list. 1. Tomas Sogaard (Last week: 2nd) When I looked at this guy's plus/minus for the week, I said, "Fuck!". You deserve a long paragraph for Tomas' efforts, but with that much to show, it'll be brief. Plus/minus for the week? +15. Plus/minus for the season? +26. 15 games this week, with 14 points. His 47 on the season lead all rookies. Not only is he replacing future Hall-of-Famer, Duncan Idaho, but he's also doing a brilliant job at it. That's why he's number 1. -- Let's be clear about this, Moscow's GM hasn't paid me to put Sogaard number 1 on the list, but goddamn. He is doing a great job leading Moscow this season. On the outside, looking in, we have the usual suspects, Leandro Goncalves, Hammar Voss, and Dusty Wilson. Leandro and Hammar seem to have found themselves mid-season, encountering a much-needed consistency in their game that they had shown in the VHLE and VHLM the past seasons. This past week Leandro led all rookies in goals scored with 9 goals to his name, 2 of them being game winners. On the other hand, Hammar has found his place in Helsinki with outstanding defensive presence, 10 points, and a game-winner. But what stands out the most is his plus/minus over the last 14 games, a +8, second only behind Sogaard. Dusty Wilson has big shoes to fill. Em Em Flex left a mark on Seattle and the league, but Dusty has been stellar, just not as good as Red Gaming. Living in Flex's shadow isn't easy, but Dusty is doing a terrific job making his own path. Not only that, but he's also improving his numbers since the beginning of the season. He could see him on that 5th spot next week. Previous editions: Week 1 Week 2 Don't forget to tune in for next week's edition of the Non-VSN S84 VHL Rookie Ladder.
  7. @N0HBDY, any chance to check if we're submitting duplicates?
  8. Yikes.
  9. It depends on how things turn in Vancouver, but it certainly has been fun!
  10. Another week has gone through in the VHL, and our rookies continue to make headlines. Many are the same, but we continue to be amazed by what these rookies do. Without further ado, let's share this list with you. 5. Red Gaming (Last week: 5th) Red Gaming has kept his level up for this last week. With 4 wins in 7 games, that's a very respectable win percentage. Of course, he's on a hot DC Dragons team, but he must not undervalue his impact. That said, we can't refrain from discussing his save percentage, which has gone down this week, and his goals against average, which has taken the opposite route. 4. Callum Murray (Last week: 4th) Callum Murray continues to be a steady presence on a poor team. With 7 points in 7 games, the Australian continues to make waves in Los Angeles, but he seems to be surfing alone. His presence continues to be felt on the ice, with grit on defense and offense, where he saw an uptick in P/20 (Points per 20 Minutes). 3. Landon Wolanin (Last week: 1st) Wolanin was riding high last week, but the Wranglers have hit a wall, and the rookie's numbers have suffered throughout. He's the ultimate team player, having downplayed personal expectations. But this past week, Landon only scored 5 points in 7 games, which made his P/20 drop by .02. Be that as it may, Wolanin still leads all rookies in goals and is at the top of the rookie plus/minus column. Could he see Landon find his form again this week? 2. Tomas Sogaard (Last week: 3rd) Moscow took Sogaard's 3rd place last week to heart, with the GM personally calling out the rankings in favor of his players. Well, in the end, nicely played by them. After the call out, trolling the Calgary Wranglers and making a case to have another of his players on the list, Moscow and Sogaard had a massive week. This week culminated in snatching the European Conference 1st place. And with 3 goals, 6 assists, and an improvement of .05 in P/20, Sogaard's impact deserved this spot on the list. 1. Pierre Emile Bouchard (Last week: 2nd) Pierre still leads this rookie class in scoring. With 36 Points in 39 games, he's been the most consistent rookie, and that's why he's now number 1 on this list. Not only did he display his value, but he's also now shown his character. After a surprising trade made by the Americans' Interim GM, Pierre now fights in Black, Silver, and White. Other notables are Hammar Voss, who has taken an interest in the last article and replied with an "it's not a sprint, it's a marathon" and has steadily confirmed that. With Helsinki still trying to find its form, Voss has been sharpening his game and has risen in the rookie scoring list, overtaking Goncalves for 5th. The latter is still struggling to produce consistently and, just like Landon, falters a bit due to the Wranglers' slump. Art and Augustus still fight at the top of the save percentage stat but at the bottom of the GAA. One wonders what they could do on non-struggling teams... but wait, what about Dusty?
  11. Watchmen Press Conference (Week Ending July 24th) Answering 3 questions gets you 1 Capped TPE Answering 6 questions gets you 2 Capped TPE VHL is about to have its birthday. How are you planning on celebrating? What would your choice be if you were in charge of picking a theme for "Theme Week"? Will you participate in "Theme Week"? If so, will you guide your teammates to do it too? What are your Summer plans? Who would you pick as the Most Outstanding Player of the team until now? What's your favorite quote?
  12. I appreciate that, but all good. I'd rate myself at number 6, truly. Just gotta show something more to fit into the top 5! His plus/minus is pretty good! I'll take @Brandon off the list for @Insypher next week, @Spartan!
  13. We're a third into the season, and teams are up and running, fighting for position in the standings. Therefore it's time for the non-VSN S84 VHL Rookie Ladder, which could be a Media Spot, but I need it as a .com article! The season 83 draft class is touted as one of the deepest of the past years, and it shows, but we have season 84 draftees making waves in the VHL this season... and a season 82 surprise. Before the season started, we had a clear favorite for rookie of the year, the South-African prodigy and Helsinki Titan, Hammar Voss. Spoiler alert, Hammar doesn't make this list. 5. At number 5, we have a small surprise coming from Chicago. This team started hot last season, but they seem to be keeping the fire lit for longer on this one. Red Gaming has been part of that effort, protecting Chicago's net safe from being violated. After last season's endeavor in the VHLE with Vasteras, Red Gaming has kept his level up with 19 wins. That comes with a .633 win percentage, .925 save percentage, 2.33 goals against average, and adding 2 shutouts to sweeten the pot. Of course, Chicago's defense led by Bo Johansson has something to do with this, but let's not underestimate Gaming's influence. 4. Our number 4 is everyone's favorite Aussie, Callum Murray. The Stars' number 1 prospect has been leading their defense this season and doing a fine job at it! After jumping a season in the minors to show his worth in the VHL, he's already showing it. With 24 points scored, most of which came from assists (21), Murray is revealing a fabulous presence on the ice. Making almost all the right calls, they already have 47 hits, 63 shots blocked, and a .56 P/20 (Points per 20 Minutes). Now, these three... it gets tough to separate. But it shall be done. 3. Coming at number 3, we have the former King, Tomas Sogaard. Now playing in a Duncan Idaho-less Moscow team, Sogaard has found his place. Do we dare to say Sogaard is thriving on it? He's been a steady force on the 1st-line and has found consistency in his game. He continues to set his teammates for success, having 16 assists and 8 goals in 30 games, on a .53 P/20. Not only that, but he hoists 2 game-winners and 4 powerplay goals. 2. At number 2, we have the rookie scoring leader and New York American Pierre Emile Bouchard. In what seems to be a theme in this list, Pierre has also skipped a season in the minors. Even with New York at the bottom of the league, that hasn't fazed Bouchard. Although he's been playing in the 2nd-line, he's making the most of his ice time. Currently leading the rookies with 28 points in 31 games, with a .59 P/20, he also has 37 hits and 71 shots blocked. 1. At the top of the ladder, but the bottom of the article, Landon Wolanin! The 21-year-old Left Winger has been great for the Wranglers, who are still trying to find their groove. Although he's been sharing time between the 1st and 2nd lines, Wolanin has shown his value already. With 13, he leads all rookies in goals and adds 10 assists to his name. He, too, like Sogaard, has 2 game-winners to his name and holds a marginally higher .55 P/20. Other notable absences from this list are Art Vandelay and Augustus Kennedy. Both these goalies play on subpar teams and haven't had much luck with their respective defenses, although they're playing at a high level. Also outside this group is the "Portuguese Wonder" Leandro Goncalves, who has been splitting time with Wolanin. After a hot start, he's found a slump and has been less consistent in the past games. Shameless plugs;
  14. I apply!
  15. Watchmen Press Conference (Week Ending July 17th) Answering 3 questions gets you 1 Capped TPE Answering 6 questions gets you 2 Capped TPE We're a third of the season in. We're now going full tilt and have reached the top positions in the standings. What's the secret to this team? What's your go-to mid-game snack? Who do you think will be fighting for the cup in the VHLE? Last week, the weather was all over the place in Portugal, but now it has found consistency... at 40ºC. How can I keep my cool while working? @Greg_Di has gone around Bratislava and got to know parts of town, but he was alone. Will you accompany him next time? From the places he visited (check here), where would you like to have gone?
  16. I'm in love. @FrostBeard
