  1. Last season was a heartbreaker for me. How could we start so hot, and continue to play great, only to have a playoff run that not even the Maple Leafs could match? Be that as it may, we're back! We are building on last season's experience. Hot or not, we're going to win the last two games we play. First of all, I'd like to thank the WJC Commissioners, @Ricer13 and @fonziGG, for the opportunity to be a part of this tournament again. You've been far too kind and I'm incredibly grateful! And guess what!? Kurt Janser, @Daniel Janser, is back too as the Assistant to the Regional Manager General Manager! But we have more news for you! Young Padawan, @Anthique, is joining us as the Assistant to the Assistant General Manager! Now to the selections! From the Ottawa Lynx, by the way of France... Jean Mercier, @Is_thatok! From the Saskatoon Wild, by the way of Germany... Basileus Jute, @Matt thunder! From the Vasteras Iron Eagles, by the way of Switzerland... Janet Snakehole, @MattBake12! From the Vasteras Iron Eagles, by the way of Switzerland... Marcel Janser, @Morcar80! From the Bratislava Watchmen, by the way of Sweden... Harry Hagel, @jasplunds! From the Bratislava Watchmen, by the way of Norway... Baxter Arcanum, @ctots! From the Las Vegas Aces, by the way of Finland... Velociraptor Greg, @samx! From the Vasteras Iron Eagles, by the way of Portugal... Leandro Goncalves, @leandrofg! From the Istanbul Red Wolves, by the way of Sweden... Calen McKay, @Kendrick! From the San Diego Marlins, by the way of the United Kingdom... Fraser Wallace, @Hoopydog! From the Istanbul Red Wolves, by the way of Denmark... Tomas Sogaard, @Brandon! From the Stockholm Vikings, by the way of Austria... PJ Daniels, @xNJDevilsFanx! From the Vasteras Iron Eagles, by the way of the Netherlands... Phoebe Bridgers, @GrittyIsKing! From the Bratislava Watchmen, by the way of Sweden... Alf Larsson, @ng1291! From the Istanbul Red Wolves, by the way of Italy... Noodles Marconi, @Eynhallow! From the San Diego Marlins, by the way of Slovakia... Svatopluk Puk, @Otaznik! Congratulation to all of you who were selected! You're most certainly a worthy and deserving bunch. I'm counting on you to avenge last season's team and bring that gold medal home! Now, last season it was easy to select the captains, as many were returning. This season, though, only two of our players were involved last season, therefore only the captain and one alternate will be chosen, leaving the other two alternate spots open for you to vote. Without further ado, S83 WJC Team Europe's captain is... Tomas Sogaard, @Brandon! The other returning player and first alternate is... Leandro Goncalves, @leandrofg! Please join the WJC Discord and I'll do my best to assign a role to you as soon as I can - you can DM me at the same username, leandrofg. Let's create that great Locker Room vibe - 'cause I know our captain will be mad if we don't! Link here: WJC Discord Now let's have some fun!
  2. Watchmen Press Conference (Week Ending June 12th) 3 answers, 1 Capped TPE 6 answers, 2 Capped TPE The series against Istanbul was a hard-fought one. We were down but showed the resilience to come back from the 3-1 deficit. How pleased were we with our performance? We're now playing the number 1 seed Iron Eagles, who have shown how great they are, not only in the regular season but also by sweeping Cologne in the first round. After being down 0-1, we're now leading 2-1 after two great games. Can we keep this going? If you were a betting house, what would be the probabilities for the winner of the Renaissance Cup? In the VHLM, San Diego, or Las Vegas. Who takes the Founders Cup? In the VHL, Seattle, or Moscow. Who takes the Continental Cup? Summer is coming. What's your favorite season of the year?
  3. I see this post getting a lot of traction... so I'd like to make a joke about the apparent VHLE exodus that's happening above. (Nice work, McWolf) As comments unrelated to the post are scheduled to be deleted... I'd also like to be considered for the position of GM of the Unite- sorry... first on the work chart is the renaming of the team. Knights, Monarchs, Bulldogs, or Redcoats... and I'm a fair guy... I'll accept the outcome of a public poll. Again, my application stands. Although, not really when I look at the people who have answered this call before! Should I be too inexperienced... I endorse Frosty, Thad & Dil! Still, would love to interview.
  4. Any ideas for the Assistant to the Assistant General Manager? #WJCHype
  5. @Daniel Janser, run it back!?
  6. I would very much like to interview for Team Europe! Time to run it back with the Euros!!
  7. Guess I'll have to download World of Tanks! Nothing like carrying my ass around Berlin to continue our journey.
  8. Watchmen Press Conference (Week Ending June 5th) 3 answers, 1 Capped TPE 6 answers, 2 Capped TPE It's Playoff time and the beginning of a new week. How are you feeling? We have already played three games against Istanbul and it has been a great series. How are you feeling about it? On the other hand, the other series hasn't been close and Vasteras leads 3-0. Do you see Cologne making a comeback? Have you turned in your pick for the S83 Fredrik Elmebeck Memorial Trophy? What did you think about this season's Theme Week? The NBA Finals are set. Boston Celtics versus the Golden State Warriors. Who takes the trophy home?
  9. I believe that says more about the GM you are. It can’t be just luck, and the common denominator is you. And I know it will! Euro-Power!
  10. I wasn't expecting to write a Media Spot this week. It's going to be a long hard-working one, but this season's 'Theme Week' is very much worth it! Also, there's free TPE in the end. So I'm starting this on Monday night - let's see how long it takes me to publish. First of all, I have got to show some appreciation for every member who has been a part of the VHL throughout the years. I'm a fairly new member. My 4-month anniversary is coming up next week, but there's so much history here... it's hard to start on where to be appreciative, but for everyone involved in this project, thank you for letting me start where the league is now. We start before my account creation on the forum, and I've got to thank the recruitment crew and everyone who has donated. You made the ad I saw on Youtube possible. You made me join the VHL. Thank you. Let's start tagging? First of all, it's got to be @Daniel Janser, my first GM. You took me under your wing in the Mississauga Locker Room, and help me find my way around the VHL, made me feel supported during my first weeks of learning about the league, and tried your best to guide me, never trying to influence my decisions, but giving me the tools to make them the best way I can. The one member I'd point out as my mentor here. Probably with a big part in my continued engagement in the community. For this and all your contributions to the VHL, you were my pick for last season's Frederik Elmebeck Memorial Trophy. Also can't forget your help during last season's WJC, where I asked you to be my AGM, and you accepted without hesitation. Thank you for everything! It's Tuesday morning, I've just sent a nice quote to a customer, therefore I'll write a few more lines. It's time to thank @Ente2997, Mississauga's AGM, but also one of my player's in S82's WJC. For all your help during my first weeks in Mississauga and your engagement during a great run in the WJC (that didn't end all that well), thank you! Then I got traded, but I can't say I didn't enjoy what came afterward. Let's go to Mexico City... later! I came to have dinner at my parents' house. My mother and my fiancée are chatting so I'm going to thank some more people! @youloser1337, you magnificent beast. I must say it hurt a bit when you didn't choose me as the an AGM for the Kings. That was the first position I applied to because it was the first time I felt excited about a position. That was due to the Locker Room environment you created in Mexico City. I thank you for your trust in me my player when you traded draft pieces for our cup run - which was intense and we almost got it!! I loved my time under your management. And, because this wasn't enough, you are also in charge of one of my favorite things in the VHL... Fantasy Zone! Your work is amazing, I love it, and if you ever want an extra pair of hands, I'd love to help you out if need be! @Brandon, my guy! Our time in Mexico City was amazing. We took Houston to 7 and I couldn't be more proud. I know you have a history in the VHL, so it maybe didn't have such a big impact on you, but as a newbie, our camaraderie in the Locker Room stuck and will stick will me during my time here in the VHL. I hope we can play together again! @Spartan, first of all, I'm sorry for all the times I've troubled you. With a wrong claim or with a stupid question... thank you for your patience. In this case, I'd like to think I'd be thanking you in the name of all the new guys that come into the VHL and find some trouble with the claiming process. (To all other updaters, thank you as well, and I'm sorry for not mentioning you, but my chats concerning claims have been with Spartan) @Dom, @samx, and @Alex. What a trio here. I have to say this will be more towards Alex since my interactions were mostly with him. I just want to thank you all for the opportunity to GM in the JST. My first opportunity as a GM, and I must say it ended up going rather well. Let's go, Warriors!! @thadthrasher, speaking of the JST, my AGM. Luck struck when I was able to pick you. Thank you for your patience, thank you for your help building the team, thank you for your time, thank you for showing me the ropes, and thank you for your message early on during the season... I think I could go on, but it's just a big thank you for everything and your trust. Sorry to the guys below, but your thank you will only come tomorrow! Well, Wednesday was a tough day and impossible to come here and write. Today I woke up to a few other pings from two great guys. One of whom I have written about, the other I'm about to. Now, it's lunchtime here at the fair, and not many people coming through, so... let's write! @badcolethetitan, @ctots, @Crstats23, thank you for your camaraderie during the JST and WJC! What a great group of GMs that was. Thanks for the friendly banter, thank you for the activity on Discord, and thank you for keeping it fun! @Ricer13 and @fonziGG, thank you for the opportunity in the WJC! Great opportunity to build on the JST knowledge and get to know other members of the community. If possible, I'd like to have another shot with Team Europe, as to correct last year's debacle at the end. @Dil, first of all, thank you for creating the Vasteras Bot. And thank you for allowing me to showcase my talents in the VHLE. It was a tough season, but I hope to have been worth that first overall pick! @eagle_3450, thank you for all the good times in the Locker Room! And thank you for the Igor-Leon combination. That's it for now. Sorry for keeping it short, but- no time! Well, lunchtime came for me at 4 pm. I've just found out @youloser1337is leaving his GM position, so I'm sorry for what I've said about being your AGM. I wish you the best of luck in life, so you can come back to GMing. @Ricer13 and @Ben, thank you for the trust you had in me to make me the 9th pick in the draft. I appreciate your respect for what I was looking for in a team, and I thank you because Calgary's Locker Room is even more incredible than what I was expecting. I can't wait to come up to the VHL and rock that boat with the guys I'm going to list next! @jacobcarson877, @Phil, @Rhynex Entertainment, @Daniel Janser, and @DollarAndADream . You guys make up for the craziest locker room, and that's incredible. It's incredibly active and incredibly fun to be a part of. Can't wait to play with you in the future. And to the new retiree, I can wait for Ricer to draft you next season! @Shindigs, for the WJC competitiveness and for leaving Bratislava, thank you! Also, thank you for not actually leaving Bratislava, you are a truly wonderful member of the community. You're very much deserving of the Frederik Elmebeck Memorial Trophy, although my pick was another man. Thanks for the hair I wish I had too! @BOOM, @Jack Feriancek, @ctots, @youloser1337, @thadthrasher thank you all for the Bratislava Locker Room! It has been a truly great experience being your AGM. Although I don't do much, I do enjoy your weekly answers to my stupid questions. And @BOOM... damn, do you have a knack for great graphics! @FrostBeard, Frosty! My GM! I'm so thankful for the opportunity you presented me with. It has been a pleasure to serve under your management. You have an amazing leadership style, and I can't say I haven't taken that to my bag of knowledge, not only to apply it in the VHL but in life too. You're an incredible character - and I never thought I'd be saying this about a politician! I know I can be a pain in the ass so I'm appreciative of your patience, and dare I say friendship. For that and our future in Bratislava, thank you! Ok, had to leave for a bit, but I'm back to finish strong! I wasn't expecting to finish this until Saturday, but things are quite calm right now. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone who felt should have been mentioned, but truly I'd like to thank and ping everyone who I have crossed paths with, but also those who I did not. @Spartan, can I claim this forever?
  11. Am I the idiot who didn't write his name or an idiot who didn't submit any answers? Any way to check for ip?
  12. @jacobcarson877!
  13. Oh yeah, baby! Calgary's going to shine bright!
  14. Watchmen Press Conference (Week Ending 22/05) 3 answers, 1 Capped TPE 6 answers, 2 Capped TPE The team made some moves on the deadline and the record has improved. Are you confident about making the playoffs? Do you have any thoughts on the 20-game minimum limit the backup goaltender has to play during the VHLE's regular season? We're most definitely a team-first group and that's something we see stat-wise. But who would you say has played best this season? How many points are we going to get out of the remaining games and why is it 8? What's your favorite type of pizza? (I'm treating this as an experiment, if you don't answer with the original Neapolitan-style pizza, please tell me why!) What's your favorite (tv/streaming) show right now?
  15. I'm still stuck on the fact we beat VHL teams 8-3
  16. Bwoah! Everyone likes that!
  17. Wait... what!?
  18. Really? That's quite interesting Always thought it'd be more like "Yen-sir"
  19. Sheesh! You need a sig for Basileus on point with that theme! Let me know what would be your preferred render!
