  1. it posted twice because i submitted it when the forum went down
  2. 46. John Jameson of Prague is on an absolute tear. How does Seattle prepare for a player like that? All we can really do is put our best shutdown forwards out with him and otherwise do what we normally do. 48. @sadie recently got goal #200 of their career. What song did the team play for them in the LR to pump em up? lowkey elevation by U2 49. @zepheter 100 CAREER ASSISTS. The team did an apple themed party. What did YOU bring to the party? I brought caramel apples of course! 50. @Berocka is one point away from tying their career high. What's it like having an aussie on the team?? They always walk into the room on the ceiling upside down and they are too big a fan of rugby and Lachlan Summers. Other than that it's pretty okay. 52. Commissioner for a day!! What are some things you'd do? Change NYA's logo and move a team to Montreal. 53. @hedgehog337 a legend steps away from managing Riga. One of the best of all time. Some of their records will only be touched by very few. What were your thoughts when finding out this news? I was surprised and a little sad because he was my GM with Riga for the first seasons of my career and was of course the first one to ever draft me into the VHL.
  3. Today, I'll be proposing a new set of teams for the VHL, designing 8 new teams in terms of team location, colors, and branding to replace those of the current NA conference. I'm going to bar all current VHL, VHLE, and VHLM locations to make myself think a little, and it'll be more interesting than another team in NYC, Toronto, Vancouver, etc. This could either be based upon cities I like and want to see a team in purely out of bias, or it could be a complete joke, or it could be an actually okay idea- we'll see! 1. Montréal Royal My NHL team is the Habs, so of course the first place I thought of was Montréal. HOW IS THERE NOT ALREADY A TEAM HERE? I think perhaps there was one a long time ago, but it's honestly inexcusable to have representation in such a city, in a province like Quebec with the amount of history that it has. At least give a team to Quebec if not Montréal. Anyway, I chose the name Royal after the mountain (well more of a hill to be honest) that looms a whole 233m above Montréal. The mountain the city is named for would be a great title for this team, and the name Royal rather than Royals makes it sound more French, something les montréalais would hopefully approve of. I can't deviate from the blue, white, an red that the Habs, the Alouettes, and the Expos already possess(ed), so I'll go with a blue-white-red color scheme as well. 2. Minnesota Aurora For Minnesota, I'll steal a name from their women's soccer team, because the Aurora is beautiful. I was struggling to think of an original and good Minnesota name, but Minnesota having been the North Stars previously did help me decide on Aurora. This is a city that definitely deserves a hockey team... I mean LOOK AT THE STATE. Hockey is extremely commonplace, something you can't say for everywhere in the US, and it's their state sport. The branding could be unreal for a team based on the northern lights; a black jersey base and green, blue, and purple used as accents could be beautiful. I'm imagining the alternates or special occasion jerseys could be very beautiful and incorporate gradients in a really creative way. 3. Boston Blizzard Time to continue this streak of names that don't end in s! The Blizzard is not only an appropriate winter name for hockey, but also alliterates with the city of Boston and would make for a pretty okay chant in "Let's go Blizzard". Given that when a major weather event actually does happen here, it's decently likely to be a snowstorm, the name fits well. Boston deserves a team again because of its history with the Bruins, and it being such an important American city in their history as well. I think good branding colors would be a darker green main color (given the city's fixation on it's NBA team, the Celtics, as well as the Irish heritage everyone there apparently has). Using black and white as accent colors would be ideal since I think anything else would likely clash with the green. I'm also starting to realize how similar to the PWHL Boston team this is becoming. These first three NA teams are also all new PWHL locations but ignore that I'm definitely not copying. 4. Cancún Dolphins It would be crazy to plan out a full league of teams without at least taking into account Cancún, unquestionably the hockey Mecca of the world. Almost everyone grows up playing hockey and it has spread to places like Canada and the US throughout the years. It's exciting to see how the game has grown out of Mexico. A Cancun team could fittingly be called the Dolphins, providing a great opportunity for a creative logo and branding. I see a color scheme being a sea-blue base with golden and white accents, symbolizing the water, sand, and the foam where they meet. This would open up great unique jersey concepts about the ocean. 5. Colorado Mountaineers Given that Davos is ceasing to exist in this universe, we have to honor them with a new purple mountain team. Denver is a great place to expand to given its high elevation and location in a state known for its winter sports. It is a great place to support a sports team given the fanbase of the Avs, Nuggets, and Rockies (and then there’s the Rapids). Mountaineers is a self explanatory name, and the color scheme is going to be purple (because a purple team is needed), white (symbolizing snow) and orange (symbolizing a cool accent color and also maybe the sunrise if you want to get technical). 6. Edmonton Glacier I don’t think I could have felt good about this list putting only one Canadian team on it, so in comes Edmonton. With Ottawa, Toronto, Saskatoon, Mississauga, and Vancouver not being options, it was really only Winnipeg, Quebec City, or one of the Alberta cities left. The Oilers being my second favorite NHL team helps with that decision. The colors will be light blue, white, and black, some pretty evident glacier colors. I chose the name glacier to pay homage to the beautiful glaciers of Banff and to keep the theme of these names on nature because I like nature. I feel some of the only other options would have been oil-related and we already have the Oilers and the Oil Kings. 7. Honolulu Humpbacks Just for fun, let’s throw another tropical team in here with beautiful Honolulu. We have to put aside the logistics of building an arena there, the hours and hours of plane travel from there to literally anywhere else, and also the fact that fans can’t travel easily. But if you overlook those, Honolulu is an awesome city on a stunning island and that’s really all you need. Humpbacks was chosen as a name due to its humpback whale population which has its breeding grounds around the Hawaiian archipelago. For team colors, I have chosen dark blue, white, and grey to fit a general whale/ocean color theme. 8. Raleigh Red Wolves Rather than calling the team here Carolina as seems to be customary, I decided to go with the city name Raleigh (the alliteration is just so good as well); the name Red Wolves is fitting due to the fact that North Carolina is the only remaining place this endangered species can be found in the wild. I know Istanbul already has this name, but it's the VHLE, so they might not be around much longer anyway. As for why I choose Raleigh as a VHL City, they have already shown their love for hockey to their other team, the Carolina Hurricanes of the second-tier NHL league. After relocation from Hartford, Carolina showed they have an amazing atmosphere and fan base and absolutely deserves a team. Their jerseys would be red, purple, and black (red for the obvious red, wolves, purple because it is the best color, and black because it rounds it out nicely).
  4. this is beautiful, absolutely brimming with potassium
  5. This logo is lovely and I love the drawn style everything has! It's cool to see Vancouver stay pretty close to home and this is an awesome logo!
  6. NYA really was the only option sadly. This is amazing and I will be ordering myself a WWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWW jersey as soon as they are available!
  7. 35. The league wants to beat all countries to the moon. We build a rocket. What does the VHL name it? Most likely we name it after the VHLE and then send it to the moon too where we will never hear from it again. 36. The Seattle Bears have created a new cryptocurrency for the VHL. It hits the market. What is it's name? Basic as it might be, bearcoin because you're not getting a better name than that. 37. Russian hackers attack the VHL and hold us ransom. They have demands. What do they want from the VHL? They want 4 TPE a week as job pay because hacking is hard work. 38. What is something the league doesn't do, or could add, that you'd like to see in the future? I'd like to see something resembling an all-star game, or a couple of games with picked teams at somepoint in the season. 39. What are your thoughts on the current state of things in the VHL right now? I'm hoping we'll see another wave of new players soon; big recruitment drives are fun. I think the VHL is in a good place right now though and I think there is a pretty good atmosphere about it. 40. How has the Seattle locker room been for you so far? Any thing we can improve on? It is a great locker room!
  8. i love april fools day so much i definitely never forget its april 1st
  9. i really do miss the purple though @kirbithan
  10. 12. What are your thoughts on Seattle trading for McFleury and St. Louis from Calgary? I think it's a very good move considering the need to get out of cap trouble from Calgary and I think its great that both of us managed to end up here. 15. What are you up to this week? This week I am going to be skiing, studying, and watching hockey + soccer. 16. What are your expectations for your player in the upcoming season? I'm not expecting a lot from St-Louis, but I'm hoping she can get somewhat close to a point per game on this new team. 17. What are your expectations for Seattle this season? I am not expecting to win the conference or anything, but I think we should make the playoffs and once that happens, anything can. 18. What do you think of Seattle landing BIG FA, Eagles @Greg_Di????? I think this is a great move- landing a player who immediately has the most TPA on the team is of course awesome! It's nice to have 3 complete sets of wingers. 20. What was one thing the GM said when he congratulated your player being drafted? That he was excited to have me along and hoped I would stay a long time with Riga (which I did).
  11. goooooooo team world we will not be stopped three baby marlins reunited
  12. For me this is 10/10 regardless if I look at it biasedly or unbiasedly. The font choice is great, and the attention to detail throughout the graphic (doing the logo swap even though only like 2% of the logo is visible, changing the opacity of parts of the text for effect, etc.) Blurring the city in the background makes the render pop more and good job filling the space on the left with a smaller St-Louis that doesn’t draw too much attention. Amazing work.
  13. 4.161!!!! 3.99 and 4.144 are relevant here also because because 7.29
  14. 1. Super excited to be coming over the Atlantic, will be fun environment here! 2. I think snagging Daniel’s player would be cool again. 3. Yeah, but simultaneously it is exciting. 4. Excited to see what Tuominen does this season. 5. I have to go with soft ice cream, or a creemee as we say in Vermont (and apparently nowhere else) 6. not a creme brulee fan
  15. 1. Kind of a late answer but I’ll confidently go with Davos because I am living in my own world. 2. Oh absolutely, we are lucky to have him along. 3. As one of those hopefully high-end pieces, I advocate for myself. 4. I have to say midnight blue, with very light pale yellow accents. (davos stole purple) 5. I feel as if I would’ve enjoyed having Landon Wolanin around. 6. Skydiving sounds awesome.
  16. RIGA REIGN PRESS CONFERENCE October 1st, 2023 1. I am feeling confident, our roster is extremely solid this year and I think we have learned from years past. 2. I do, I feel much less comfortable playing Davos than literally ANYONE ELSE. 3. I don't, because they have continued to fail me again and again lately. 4. I would give it to Brian Kowalski; 30 goals as a defenseman is no small feat, not to mention 80 points. The massive amount of blocked shots makes him my lock-in for team MVP. 5. Even depth scoring- if everyone continues to be as much of a threat as they are, it will be very difficult for our opponents to shut down our offense as in years past. 6. Montreal has not been as good as I would like them to be, but it makes sense. There are some players showing lots of promise, fortunately though.
  17. I love this! thanks so much for the unique and awesome graphic! definitely a 100/10, awesome style
  18. 1. Prague has 79 points at this moment with Riga 61 - do you think there's a chance of catching up to them? 2. Do you feel comfortable about a playoff spot yet? We're currently 16 points up on the 6th place Malmo. 3. The trade deadline is tomorrow - have you ever been traded in the deadline before? 4. Sadie currently has 26 goals, how many will she finish with by the end of the year? 5. What has been your favorite moment of the season so far? 6. Do you think Connor Bedard will win rookie of the year in the NHL? 1. I don't really think we have a chance at catching Prague at this point being 18 point behind, but you never know. 2. I am confident we will make the playoffs, given that Riga tends to turn it up a bit at the end of the season. 3. I have never been traded anywhere ever, I am happy to say! 4. I am going to shoot high and say 40 goals, I hope I end up getting at least 35 to set a new career-high though! 5. My favorite moment has been my 6 point game I will have to say. No better way to start the season than with the best game of your life! 6. I do think he will, even if it is somewhat close they will regardless give it to him and the only one I think will really challenge Bedard for it is Devon Levi.
  19. 1. I am really pleasantly surprised by St-Louis, she is absolutely exceeding my expectations and hopefully that keeps up! 2. I think it was a lot of bad luck, we lost quite a few one goal games in that slide but yeah fatigue is probably a factor. We tend to bounce back when it is time for a playoff push though so be on the lookout for that. 3. A defensive defenseman- we really need to limit the scoring against us because thats a huge area of inconsistency. 4. Really hoping so, we need that kind of consistency for the playoffs! It is going to be different this year than in years past I hope. 5. I think it definitely will be a benefit and we will be able to see better and more competitive teams. 6. I am strangely a Browns/Steelers fan, so today was halfway amazing and halfway horrific. I did watch a lot of football.
  20. First off, it's such a purple graphic that obviously it's amazing. The mountains behind the render are the perfect shade and I love how you lined up the Davos logo so it gives the appearance that the logo's mountains are part of the foreground range. I also like the choice to have the logo sink behind the mountains. Tage Thompson pops out great despite being the same color and I like that the name and team are fairly understated in the bottom left. The only thing I would say is the purple on the Davos logo on the render's jersey seems too different from the jersey color. 9.5/10
