A close game between Vancouver and Malmö, showcasing elite goaltending on both sides. Vancouver massively outshot Malmö in the first period 21-8, but the game was scoreless until the 19th minute when Cobalt Burns put the Nighthawks up by one. The Wolves answered not even 40 seconds later with a shorthanded goal by Alexandre Leduc. The ice was not tilted either way in the second, but the Wolves were the team ending the period up by one thanks to a go-ahead goal by Henry Eagles scored in the 8th minute. Malmö took the reins early in the third and tied the game in the 3rd minute with a goal by Justin Adolfsen. After 14 minutes of very close game, Henry Eagles broke the tie and adjusted the final score to 3-2 Vancouver win. Boris Tsezar (MAL) stopped 39 shots out of 42 (.929 SVS%), Brandt Fuhr (VAN) stopped 33 out of 35 (.943 SVS%).

Not long ago, the Golden Ring team award was established in Rome. Its purpose was to recognize a standout player in every sim, and it was intended for the player currently holding the title to pass it forward to the player they deem the most valuable after the next day's sim. I personally love the idea of us players directly passing this award between each other rather than it being given by team management. But the sad reality is not enough members are active in the team's locker room to realistically keep it going. It's a shame to let this idea be wasted. So I'm gonna try something different. With no authority in this topic other than the self-proclaimed one, I'm gonna recognize - surprising no one - our star goalie Jeremy Swayman @Agito as the most outstanding Rome player of the week. Games 163 @COL and 166 vs. STO both got to shootouts, and Swayman was rock-solid in both these games, recording combined .922SVS% and stopping 5/6 shootout attempts. The whole team including Jeremy folded in game 170 vs. IST, but rebounded in game 174 @IST with a respectable performance despite the OT loss. The following sim, Swayman was back in focus with 26-save 1GA performance @COL in game 178 and a 15-save shutout vs. VAS in game 182. The pattern was very similar the following day, a very good 35/38 performance @COL in game 186 followed by a 16-save shutout @GEN in game 192. In game 196 vs. GEN, Swaman looked a little shaky allowing 3 goals on 28 shots and game 199 vs. OSL wasn't exactly elite either, allowing 4 goals on 39 shots. Game 201 vs. GEN was pretty similar, (2 goals on 19 shots). However in Jeremy's last game of the week - game 206 @BRA, he was lights out again, stopping 35 shots only allowing 3 goals, and staying undefeated in the SO. Swayman didn't start the last two games of the week.

I love the player choice of Dolla' Dolla' Bill Kirill! On ice, he's a bit of a wanker as well

1. The current management did a great job scouting and drafting, if they're still around in the future, I see no reason why not. @Pifferfish coming to tear the E to pieces next season will certainly help. 2. If? You mean when? With how the League is shaping up, it could be any team not from Cologne or Geneva. Istanbul currently looks like the prime candidate, that would be a fun series. 3. I've mentioned it in the MS, and the response from our AGM was a great example of the support I was talking about. 4. We've been through a bit of a rough patch, but I think we're getting back on track,I believe we can keep some distance between us and Istanbul. 5. To me, he already is the greatest goal scorer ever. Hockey was just different in Gretzky's time. Breaking the record officialy would be a huge thing, but really more of a formality. A crazy thing is it could be broken again as early as next decade. 6. Did he? That's nuts! He's been cash money last two years. A human his size has no business moving the way he does, or having such soft mitts. He's a rare breed. -
CONTENT WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE Earning pace? Me click welfare and practice facility, me git gud, right? Well that's what I thought. Yea, I skimmed through all the introductory stuff about earning TPE, but it's just a random online game, no one actually does stuff like that right? Oh what a sweet Summer child I was. Without really understanding what STHS attributes were, I threw TPE in hybrid stats that I took too literally to create an Eriksson Ek type of player and grew overconfident as hell after scoring 8 points in 10 playoff games for the Lynx. I got this, hold my beer and watch me dominate this whole game! My first VHL lesson was in humility. Along came @Shindigs, interviewing me prior to the VHLM draft. "Hey noob, where's your Discord? Are you a fuckin' non-Discord-having boomer-ass shitter or what?" Shindigs asked. Okay, okay, I'm paraphrasing a bit, Shindigs was really nice, asking me if I wanted to do the interview on forum, or on Discord. But it sounds better this way. Sure, I had been contemplating setting up a Discord account prior to that, what the hell, I'd do it. This Shindigs guy's player...this Bo Johansson, he's got how many TPE? Holy crap! But welfare and PF only gives you 60 every season! Wait...how many TPE do the best players have? Oh. Okay. Hmm. Let's do this interview then. "Hey, if you don't move your ass, your player's gonna suck. Put in some fuckin' work or I don't wanna see your stupid face ever again!" was not what Shindigs said, but they were pretty direct, which works with me the best. Shindigs made me understand in a few sentences that if I'm gonna be a clicker, my VHL career will be pretty short and probably only limited to a depth role. Which is absolutely fine, but I don't want that for Wann Kerr. I've said I'm gonna dominate. Okay, let's do some work. More GMs approached me during the pre-draft period, but it was mostly one paragraph of questions on their side, one paragraph of answers on my side and that's it. Another GM who really helped me out getting settled is @lil OG z. They had claimed my player after I created an account 2 or 3 games before the end of S84 regular season, and they were interested in drafting me back. While Shindigs was really direct and made me - successfully, I'd say - understand the work ethic needed to succeed, lil z showed me there are kind, supportive people here in this community, and gently nudged me to do the first step to start earning. Which I knew I had to do, but I was perhaps too self-conscious to put together an article for other people to see. Even though I've always enjoyed writing. That's how I became a welfare+ player. Shindigs was the one who ended up drafting me to be a part of the Aces' threepeat attempt. The chance for a first ever threepeat combined with a special locker room chemistry the team had really helped me establish a team first mentality quickly after joining this game. Wann Kerr can be dominant as much as he wants to, but does it really matter if his team doesn't succeed? The desire to help Shindigs end his Aces GM career with a threepeat - partially as a gesture of gratitude for his mentorship - and the fun of friendly competition for the weekly High Roller Award (highest earning player of the week) were the final ingredients for turning me into the max earner I've been since week 1 of S85. And tying the High Roller Award record really made it a matter of pride for me to carry on being a max earaner every single week. Overall, the Shindigs, @TopTiddee2and @dylanjj37 Aces experience was the best way to kickstart my career. Without it, it's hard to imagine I'd be a team first TPE junkie and a build nerd. Yup, when I have a few minutes to kill, I sometimes whip out my phone and fool around with a TPA tool. I basically have 200TPE, 400TPE and peak builds of my 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen players already planned. Now I'm working in a really supportive system of @Baby Boomer and @Agito in Rome, and I look forward what will the cooperation with @Frank and @Gaikoku-hito look like from next season in Vancouver. Being max capped earner, doing fantasy weeks, VFHL, predictions, career tasks and theme weeks, I think I've already got a solid grasp on TPE earning. But there's a thing I still find myself struggling with as a member, and that's setting realistic goals for my player. Of course my career goals are pretty clear - I want to remain a max earner for Wann Kerr's whole career, that's about 2 years for me to evaluate how much I like this thing, and if I want to stick around, perhaps even trying out some GMing. And as for Wannn Kerr, well I want to roleplay him as a loyal footsoldier and I want The Cup. At least one. But setting season-to-season goals is pretty tough, when I still don't have a full picture about what's realistic. I can't say I had much expectations for my first full M season. Shindigs said I'm gonna do awesome, but they were my GM, it's a part of their job to say so. So I went in, did my earning, followed two-way center build recommended by Shindigs, expecting to be a middle of the pack player...not scoring fuckin' 97 points and being over a point per game in the playoffs as well. Seeing how my player performed in the M, I had high expectations on him at the JST, probably somewhere around a point per game. Not being the Brigade MVP. Come pre-draft interviews, I was already used to Wann Kerr's growth, so I knew I would only spend one season in the E, which would somewhat lower my guy's value for the E GMs - being selected in the second round is about what I'd expected. Talking about E, what I did not expect is being arguably the most consistent offensive contributor on one of the top E teams, even though my build is by far more defense oriented. Being over half a goal per game blew my mind. But the thing that exceeded the far-too-low expectations I'm setting the most is Frank trading up to pick me 9th overall. I honestly did not expect to be selected in the first round at all. Why would I be? I'm a fuckin' first gen noob, there are tons of people more experienced than I am, who would be a safer bet. But what Frank did is light fire under my ass in the same manner Shindigs did. And I'm ready for this shit. The time is slowly approaching to set expectations for my VHL rookie season. But not yet. Now there's a cup for us to win in Rome. Perhaps I've already learned and will set it properly. If you still have enough braincells left to comprehend meaning of these words, congratulations and thank you for letting me borrow your eyeballs to read through this...what even is it? Is it another "my first gen experience"? Is it a thank you post to everyone mentioned? Is it just a stream of thoughts? Yes. 1000+ words

Nice! I was actually gonna do an all-first-gen team myself, looks like I'm gonna have to go with my backup plan

Wann Kerr is a shitpost with a stick, all 69 inches of him. Gotta work hard to have him leave his mark on the Wolves and the VHL, breaking a franchise record or winning an individual teophy would be an ultimate win. Maybe then I'll take my second gen player seriously lol. I wouldn't be a max earner if it wasn't for your mentorship anyway, and for the guys streaming and commenting S85 VHLM draft saying something in the lines of "imagine someone with a name like this becoming an all time great, a hall of famer, and it would just say Wann Kerr".

Wann Kerr's enthusiasm for snakes has been known since he's joined the league. His career goal is allegedly to make enough money to build "the greatest reptile zoo the world has ever seen" - in his own words. Italy is not really known for abundance of snakes, but there are morr species than in his native country of Czechia. Especially vipers of Vipera genus are his favorites, and one of the Vipera species - Asp Viper, Vipera aspis - is found all around Italy including around Rome. So it was just a matter of time before Wann Kerr finds some time to go field herping. Unfortunately, it was reported Wann Kerr was forced to visit The A. Gemelli University Hospital IRCCS'Poison Control Center after a little accident with handling one specimen of said viper. After spending a night in hospital, it was confirmed the bite was probably a dry bite - meaning no venom was released. Which is definitely good news for both him and his team, as it doesn't affect his season. Let's hope Kerr will be more careful next time.

Unfortunately for the Wolves, a few of their prostects have been lost due to inactivity. Namely Ratty Trepovsky (S83 48th overall, 175 TPE), Joshua Bolton V (S84 50th overall, 80 TPE) and Izaak Bobs (S84 37th overall, 165 TPE). Let's look at their active prospect, how are their doing this season and what's their realistic timeline to join the big league. Nick Trash (C), S86 49th overall, 113 TPE Playing their second full VHLM season, Nick Trash has been steadily growing into a pass-first center for the Saskatoon Wild. With 15-20-3 record, the Wild are struggling and are currently occupying second to last place in the Western Conference as well as second to last spot overall. With 15 goals (3rd on the team) and 30 assists (2nd on the team) in 38 games, Nick Trash is one of the bright spots on the team though, currently centering and leading the second line with two S87 prospects Ziggy Dupree and Zechariah LeFevre on their wings. Their +/- looks awful at -29, but this is more of a team stat that's completely understandable, considering how poor the 5-bot Wild defense is. On top of centering second line, Nick also centers 2nd PP unit and 2nd 4-man PK unit, and special teams are something the Wild are finding ways to be elite at, and Nick Trash with 7 powerplay points in 99 minutes is a part of that. Looking at Nick's development so far, they're probably gonna spend another season in the M before moving to E, where it would probably take 2 more season before a VHL call up. Jens Lekman (D), S86 17th overall, 277 TPE The towering Swedish defenseman is spending the season in Rome Gladiators, one of the top VHLE teams. With 23-12-5 record, the Gladiators are sitting in the second place in the league. Gladiators are one of the better defensive team in the league, which is definitely a good look for Lekman, who's double shifting on the second and fourth defensive pairs with Nicholas Blue, logging impressive 28.53 minutes on ice every game on average, including some time on both powerplay and penalty kill - the Gladiators rank 3rd in the league in both special teams. 26 points (8 of which are goals) tie Jens with their running mate Nicholas Blue for the 6th place on the team, 3rd among defenders. Even though Lekman is not really a physical player, they don't hesitate to use their frame to stop opponents when the situation asks for it, as shown by 77 hits. With 79 blocked shots, they're also not afraid to put their body in front of the puck either. Overall, Lekman is growing into a really, really good two-way defenseman with bright future in the VHL. They will probably start next season in the E, but don't be surprised if they deserve a call-up soon after that. Wann Kerr (C), S86 9th overall, 316 TPE Jens Lekman's teammate in both Gladiators and S85 Las Vegas Aces, Wann Kerr is really thriving in the E. They've started the season double shifting in the second and fourth forward lines, but has been recently promoted to the first and third lines, while also being one of the team's primary forward on both special teams. With the reputation of a shutdown forward Kerr has built in the VHLM and especially at the JST, it's not that surprising they're leading the team in +/- and leading all Gladiators forwards in blocked shots by a huge margin (20, the second highest on the team is eight) and in penalty kill minutes played. What is surprising is Wann Kerr's offensive output. The Czech center is currently leading the team in goals (22), shots (217), powerplay goals (6, 2-way tie) and is the author of the team's only shorthanded goal. Wann Kerr is set to start the next season in the VHL and grow into one of the better players in the league.

Maybe a dumb question, let's say I want to do the Hello Europe this weekend, where do I post it? There is no subforum for that in the career task forum, do I put it in the veteran presence, considering it's being abolished? Edit Oh, my bad, it says it's replacing junior review, so probably there. Also, I've done junior review, so I'm not eligible. Dammit, I want those sweet uncapped TPE!

A1: I'd say anything earlier than December 1 is absolutely nuts, to me anything before December 10-12 is too early. A2: I like Corey Taylor's X-M@S. Among the classic ones, I like Run Rudolph Run - the version with Lemmy Kilmister, Dave Grohl and Billy Gibbons. And I'll always have a soft spot for Vánoce, Vánoce přicházejí. It's a catchy tune with goofy lyrics. A3: I've done a graphics for the first time this week, so why not adding another first time to that? ------------------------------------ Q1: Does it typically snow this time of year where you live, and has it snowed already this Autumn? Q2: What Winter acticities - not hockey related - do you and/or your player enjoy? Q3: How is you player going to spend the holidays?

A high scoring affair and a roller coaster of a game between Saskatoon Wild and Las Vegas Aces. You wouldn't find a period more even than period 1 of this game, with both teams logging 8 shots and scoring once. Aces showcased a HOF defense in the second period, only allowing Wild 3 shots on goal - they were able to score on one of those - while sending respectable 11 shots on the Wild net, none of those got past the goaltender. I have no idea what happened in the Wild locker room after the second period, but they came out with vengeance, and with Yaroslav Trunov leading the charge (1+2 in the last period), they scored 4 goals on 21 shots in the last period, allowing 2 goals on just 7 shots. Final score: 6-3 Saskatoon win.
-
First period offensive dominance by the Phoenix was not enough to secure them a win against Prague Phantoms. The Phoenix started strong, sending 27 shots on the Phantoms' net, but Clueless Wallob dealt with all but 2 of them, while their team was able to capitalize once on 8 shots. Second period was much more balanced with the Phantoms having a slight upper hand, scoring once on 12 shots, allowing only 9 shots and no goal. The Phoenix were able to tilt the ice in their favor again in the third, overshooting Prague 13 to 6, but the goal ratio was exactly the opposite - 1 for Chicago, 2 for Prague. Final score 4-3 Prague Win, and I have no idea why Clueless Wallob wasn't one of the stars.

1. My goal remains the same, mostly developing my game without the puck and faceoffs. I'd like to start working on skating a bit more as well. I like the system, it promotes a friendly competition. Maybe implementing some sort of a Golden Ring HOF would be a good idea also. 2. We're allowing them too many shots, I think we need to shut them down and grind out low scoring wins, we've got the goalie and defense to pull it off. 3. Keep on earning, keep on playing well. Finishing first would be nice, but it's the postseason that really matters. 4. I think we start games a bit too slow, we're not really going full throttle in first periods the way Oslo or Cologne do. 5. I've been a huge Minnesota Wild guy for a bit over a decade. And I mean my bedroom walls are forest green with the paint color matched to Wild logo, and I have a Wild tattoo planned that I'd like to have done some time next year. 6. I don't really watch Seattle that close. If you mean him falling to 4th, it surprised me a bit, I wouldn't pick him 1st overall simply because of how he presents himself, he's not really a generational talent with the skill and talent to back it up, but at 4th je might turn out to be a steal. If you mean him struggling, it doesn't surprise me a bit, I don't generally support playing prospect in the NHL in their D+1 season, unless we're talking about generational talent prospects. -

1. As a player, I'm gonna keep improving mostly defense and faceoffs to not be a liability when I move to the VHL. I don't have any particular goals other than to contribute to the team success. 2. Tom Creed looks like a great choice to wear a C, they're involved, really humble and lead by example. John Poremba Jr comes from a hockey family and had a great chance to learn ins and outs of being a pro hockey player straight from the source, good pick to be a part of the leadership. As for me, I'm honored and I'll try to set the best example I can. 3. I haven't experienced the former AGM, so I can't really talk about the change per se. So far, they've been really involved and supportive, I'm sure they'll do great in a management role. 4. We're on top of our game, firing on all cylinders. I think what we need to do is to just carry on doing what we're doing. 5. That's a tough one. If I really had to choose just one, I'd say Joel Eriksson Ek. 6. I think the best defense is to prevent offense. I'd have special stealth bois incapacitating enemy machinery, and artillery and air force targeting weapons and ammunition supply chain. -
Calling Wann Kerr's transition to the E seamless would be an understatement. To start off his rookie season, he's riding a 6-game point streak on yet to be defeated Gladiators squad. 5 goals and 5 assists scored in those 6 games puts him in a 4-way tie for league leading 10 points, despite not being the most dynamic player around and despite his offensive game and puck skills being still very raw. Wann Kerr finds the way to get on the scoring board by playing very energetic, north-south game built of sound foundation of impeccable defensive game. His ability to read opponents' breakouts and offensive plays two steps ahead allows him to always be in the right position to intercept passes, retrieve lose pucks or yoink the puck off its carrier with his stick, making him an elite player in gaining puck possession and pushing the game up the ice. Improving his success rate of winning face offs would make him even more valuable two-way force. It's good to see him recognizing this particular flaw in his game and already working on fixing it. Good things happen when your team has the puck. And when Wann Kerr is on the ice, it seems like his team always has the puck.

Thanks for the trust guys, now let's go get it! With the group we have, it's gonna be one hell of a season
