Ok, here we are, almost 3/4 through season 89. Here’s a few things I’ve learned this season, along with some random thoughts…that will include the famous Rip Wheeler shout outs and of course some shit talking to two of the VHLs most hated (by me) players.

First let’s take a look at Ol’ Rip Wheeler. I gotta be honest, the learning curve up here in the show was A LOT steeper than I thought it would be. I felt like I was a weekly contributor last season in the “E” and I hoped this season would be similar. Well, I was wrong. Lol…As I say often about Rip, he’s a big locker room and “glue” type guy. He brings all the intangibles, you know, the ones that don’t show up on the stat sheet, ever. Through 58 games, Rip has lit the lamp twice, and has three helpers. Rip has been on his best behavior, with only 56 PIMs in 58 games. And 103 hits is below standard, but I’d attribute that to Rip trying to stay out of the box and help out the club in any way he can.

Ok moving on…it’s time for some shout outs!

First off Landon Wolanin has been lighting up the lamp a lot this year! Top 5 in the league in goals, he’s been a huge reason that the Wranglers are primed for a playoff run.

Second, Leandrooooo!! Leandro Goncalves has a machine gun like shot and he’s been letting it rip this season. With 536 shots in 58 games and he’s number one in the league by a huge margin! Safe to say, when the puck is on his stick the opposing tendys better have their heads up!

Last, but certainly not least…the legend and future Hall of Famer himself Daniel Janser! “DJ” is having yet another stellar season in his farewell tour. He’s number 7 in the league in points with 77 in 58 games. He’s a dangerous player and threat to score anytime he crosses the the red line! For the last 5 seasons Janser has been near the top of the league leaders in points and is a huge reason Calgary has been successful as a franchise. Also, a solid two way player with a great career plus / minus and even some shot block stats thrown in! A two time winner of the Brett Slobodzian Trophy, the Kevin Brooks Trophy and the Mike Szatkowski Trophy! Also, he’s won the Scott Boulet Trophy and the Scotty Campbell Trophy respectively. He was also a huge part of the Wranglers Victory cup and Continental Cup victories! He’s a stud, and his presence on and off the ice will be missed in Calgary next season for sure!

It’s crazy, that as a lowly rookie…a young buck, just scraping by to sniff a point and not hurt the team…that Rip Wheeler has gotten the opportunity to play with those guys, and the rest of the Calgary boys! Such an honor. Cheers to a great career DJ!!!

Alright, now to the shit talking portion of the program…these two mopes, Brian Payne and “little” Jakey Thunder. Both are obviously in the twilight of their careers and just holding on to past memories and accolades. I mean 71 points in 58 games? C’mon Thunder! That’s barely a point per game! And your plus minus is all the way down to plus 15, a huge drop off from last years plus 25. And don’t even get me started on the drop off in hits! I get it though…especially when you’re playing the Wranglers, you’re just avoiding a trip to the train station! But you look silly tip toeing around like a ballerina!

And Paaaayyyne, you’re up next baud. Hits way down, PIMs way down…when you look at yourself in the mirror, do you even recognize the player that i used to look up to? Such a shell of what the “Payne Train” used to be…it’s actually sad…I’m not even mad bro…I’m just disappointed. And the only reason your plus / minus is up is because you switched squads and the Vancouver boys are carrying you like a backpack son!

Oh and I almost forgot, both of you Jamokes aren’t even league leaders in assists! Top 5? Whatever…like Rickey Bobby said…”you’re either first, or you’re last!”….so we’re basically tied statistically…740 words boys…step your game up!!

On behalf of Rip Wheeler and Scotty Leandro, I’m out! ✌️✌️

ScottyP got a reaction from Ricer13 in Calgary Wranglers press conference
    1) Solid coaching, lots of hard work and dedication…and being surrounded by total offensive studs are all contributing factors.
    2) I think getting TPE in the E definitely has a lot of benefits. I think whatever Ricer13 decides as far as who gets called up, will be the right move…he’s been an awesome GM!
    3) I think some unlucky sims play a factor. Maybe not playing around with line combos? I’m still so new that wrapping my head around why sims go well or don’t is tough.
    4) I would say LAs struggles…they seem to have some really solid players, so it’s surprising to not see them higher up in the standings.
    5) Peanut Butter Twix!
    6) Jersey Shore, the original season! Lol such trash, but definitely entertaining!

Theme Week! Commissioner for a Day:

All right same week season 89, 2023…here we go. Commissioner for a day? What would I do , what would I do…As a relative newcomer to the VH L , it's actually a tough question.

But, what I would say is I would definitely have a meet up and scrap option! I think being able to meet up with all the haters, the naysayers, the shit talkers…Would be absolutely amazing!

Unfortunately, there are a few VHL players that need to be called out. And yes Sharky I'm talking to you or is it “Jake Thunder”. Let me start off by saying not everybody is retired, living their best life typing up 500 word shit talking memos about other players. But, yet here we are.

If I was commissioner for a day I would make sure that thunder, Jake thunder was banned 100%…II would also take 500 TPE from scurvy a.k.a. Brian Payne effective immediately!

Ok, ok…On a more serious note I would make it easier earn TPE. That would be top priority for me. I constantly struggle to break 10 TPE every week. I know it may not seem like much, but at times it's tough to sit down and crank out five hundred word essays.

Moving topics, one thing that I think would be fun, would be to have NHL teams as the VHL teams as opposed to made up teams. (No offense to the Calgary Wrangler whom I love and play for). I think it be cool to have 32 VHL teams all modeled after NHL franchises. I'm sure there's copyright laws and such that may make that impossible but that would be a fun thing for me.

Another change I would make is when and if there is fights (and hopefully the fights are between me Brian Payne and Jakey Thunder).

It would be really cool to see even an NHL 94 reenactment of the fights. I mean seeing my little pixelated Rip Wheeler character just pummel little Jakey thunder would make me incredibly happy. I think Brian Payne might give me a run for my money, but Jake Thunder is old retired and really, really and I mean really weak.

    Continuing on…As commissioner I would
make discord challenges or TPE opportunities available. I don't know what that would look like but I think they’d be fun!

Also as commissioner I would make old-school WWF pre and post game promos mandatory…as a point task, but mandatory. You’d be given 10 TOE for every promo that you cut calling out another player in the league! And you already know, that for me it would definitely be little Jakey Thunder and Brian Payne cause I hate those guys. (And yes I know they’re legends…but I’m the commish!!!)

Lastly I would add an option to pay in each season…or you know what let's not make it an option, it’s mandatory! $10 every VHL player in the pot and at the end of the year, the team that wins the cup gets the cash to split! I think that adding some money “skin in the game” to the pot similar to fantasy football or fantasy hockey would peak the interest level of some of us that are struggling completing weekly TPE tasks.

Alright, well I'm hoping that this is around 500 words and if it's not then I'll type a little bit more…but it's been real letting you know what I would do as commissioner for a day! ScottyP a.k.a. Rip Wheeler a.k.a. The TGGG guy is out! Wranglers!…as always let's ride!!!

600 words! Bang bang! Take that little Jakey Thunder!

OMG… or better yet,  XD.  Rookie journey my ass!!  Too bad @Ricer13 didnt give you the job youre probably best at…. Towel Bitch…. And who are you kidding trying to tell all of us that you are on the bench supporting the team with chirps.  The only chirps come out of your ass.  And all you do on the bench is take selfies and make TikTok videos of you drinking out of @leandrofg  and @Daniel Janser water bottles so you can get more hits, (and i dont mean hits on the ice, I mean “likes” on your TikTok account) because you hit for shit on the ice you marshmallow.

As much as it hurts, I have to agree with @Scurvy on this one… Brian Payne will smash your face.  BTW, did you see that scurvy?  Scottyp is so in tune with the league, he pinned someone named “sharkie”. Come on son….

And the last thing I gotta say to you, @ScottyP, did your daughter get any school credit for writing this article for you because there are fewer grammatical errors than I’m used to reading your reports.  Tell her good job!

Man, a lot of time has past since I last wrote up something more than 150 words…should be like riding a bike right? Lol Ok so seriously, super pumped to be a part of such an awesome club and organization with Calgary. @Ricer has been a total stud as GM and made me feel right at home. The rest of the boys have been great as well, shout out to the “holy Leandro!” The locker room is super active and the it’s really a close knit group that chats about everything from the VHL, to family trips to the NHL to current events.

My journey this season started in the off season with a trade from Riga to Calgary. And the an early on discussion with my new GM about where I saw for Rip Wheeler future. I appreciate the open and honest communication from the beginning.

Now I don’t know many rookies in the VHL or the NHL for that matter that get the call up and immediately get out on a line with two total studs and most likely future Hall of Famers! Playing on a line initially with Janser and now with Wolanin and Goncalves, I definitely feel like a “make a wish” kid getting to skate around with the boys in warmups! Haha That being said, I appreciate the opportunity and will continue to try and do the little things to contribute to the club! I always get the boys whatever coffee they want, I know all the orders by heart. I also keep the fireball on ice in the room for after game cellys! I also send out some beauty chirps to the other teams while I’m on the bench during the power play with the boys are out there doing work!

I’d like to think Rip brings a lot of “intangibles” that may not show up on the stat sheet…at least not this year! Lol

As I get close to the 400 word ending, I will say one thing…”the disrespect has been noted!” There are some old timers in the league, upset that the new blood is starting to come into his own and make an impact. These two in particular have had there time and our now just punching down at a rookie because they there time at the top is limited and ending soon…yes, Brian Payne and Jake Thunder, i calling you boys out! I’ve played a few games against Payne and he would drop gloves and give me a chance to dance…and Thunder wants not part of a ride to the train station. There will be more to come regarding these to haters, old timers and past their primers…

And with that, Rips out…Wrangler’s?!? Let’s riiiiide!!

  15. Cheers

This is most certainly not back by popular demand, more like back by unpopular demand, or no demand at all, but nevertheless I have decided to earn my TPE this week by doing some more puzzles and hopefully this is long enough to cover two weeks worth of 6 tpe.  Regardless, its still going to be a hell of a lot more than that chump @ScottyP is doing!

So here goes.  As before, the first one to correctly guess the answers to the puzzles will get some bonus unclaimed TPE, all you have to do is contact @Spartan to make arrangements for the bonus unclaimed TPE, which is up to 6 TPE depending on how fast you complete the puzzles.

Disclaimer:  these are made up puzzles and statistics were in no way gathered or determined from any VHL content.  Please dont get offended if your player is better than referenced in these puzzles.

There are five rookies in the VHL who have dominated the league this season and have outscored all others.  Can you determine which player has scored the specific points, given the clues provided?  In addition, what VHL team is the player on and what VHLE team did each player play for?

    List of Players:

    Phil Strasmore @Phil
    Tavish DeGroot @rory
    Napolean Dynamite @thadthrasher
    Mark Calaway @Beketov
    Dabnad Shaw @Dabnad

    VHL Teams to choose from:

    Prague Phantoms
    Toronto Legion
    Helsinki Titans
    Riga Reign
    Warsaw Predators

    VHLE Teams to choose from:

    Stockholm Vikings
    Istanbul Red Wolves
    Cologne Express
    Vasteras Iron Eagles
    Oslo Storm

    Points to choose from:

    80 pts
    85 pts
    92 pts
    96 pts
    99 pts

    Here are the seven clues:

The player with the least points plays for the Helsinki Titans.  Napolean Dynamite did not score 92 points.

    2.  Tavish DeGroot scored more points than the player who played for the Stockholm Vikings.

    3.  The five players were the player who scored the most points, the player for Riga Reign, the player who played for the Cologne Express, Phil Strasmore, and the player who is on the Warsaw Predators.

    4.  Napolean Dynamite played for either the Istanbul Red Wolves or the Cologne Express.  The player who scored 85 points is Mark Calaway.

    5.  The player who played for the Oslo Storm scored more points than Tavish DeGroot.  The player who played for the Vasteras Iron Eagles does not play for the Warsaw Predators.

    6.  Of the player who played for the Cologne Express and Dabnad Shaw, one scored 80 points and the other plays for the Prague Phantoms.

    7.  Phil Strasmore scored fewer points than the player who played for the Cologne Express.

Good luck!  My guess is someone will get the correct answers in less than 5 minutes.

This next one is just as easy as the first one.  It is also made up and the players and General Managers are randomly chosen.  This puzzle involves five general managers who were all in need of superstar goalies.  Each manager made a blockbuster trade for a goalie, giving up another player.  Your goal is to determine which general manager acquired which goalie, and how long the contract was for.  In addition, you need to determine what player was traded for the goalie.  There are six clues to determine the outcome.

    Your choices of goalies are:

    Lachlan Summers @kirbithan
    Jesse Teno @aimkin
    Brandt Fuhr @Tate
    Clueless Wallob @DMaximus
    Alexander Minion @UnknownMinion

Your choices of players involved in the trade are:

    Ronan Lavelle @Arce
    Pete Mitchell @Crstats23
    Brian Payne @Scurvy
    Mason Jones @Masu Chan
    Vasile Lamb @dlamb

Your choices of the contract signed are:

    1 year
    2 years
    3 years
    4 years
    5 years

Your choices of general managers are:

    @JeffD
    @FrostBeard
    @Acydburn
    @hedgehog337
    @InstantRockstar

And here are your six clues.

Alexander Minion and the general manager who selected him did not involve Pete Mitchell nor Mason Jones in the trade.

    2.  Lachlan Summers was traded to the general manager who released Brian Payne.  The goalie who signed for four years was acquired by the general manager who traded Pete Mitchell for them.

    3.  Acydburn traded for either Lachlan Summers or Brandt Fuhr.  Mason Jones was not involved in this transaction.  Instant rockstar traded someone for Jesse Teno.

    4.  The general manager who traded for Brandt Fuhr agreed to a five year contract.  Jeff D did not trade for Clueless Wallob.

    5.  Neither Frostbeard, nor the goalie who signed for a two year contract, was involved with Mason Jones in the trade.  In addition, Mason Jones was not involved in the trade with Clueless Wallob.

    6.  Hedgehog337 who traded away Ronan Lavelle to obtain their goalie, did not sign the goalie with a three year contract.

    Good luck!

For those who actually try to solve these puzzles, hats off to you!  Right now I’m in a rut trying to come up with ideas to write something and get my 6 TPE, but fear not, as eventually I will come out of this rut and will come up with something even more stupid to write about just so that I can achieve the TPE so deserving.

In the meantime I’m going to write a puzzle for @Scurvy.  Are you ready scurvy?

This one should be easy.  Which player in the VHL considers scoring one goal and one assist in twenty games, as well as getting 29 hits and 20 PIMS, as a respectable stat?  If you said, Rip Wheeler, you are correct.  @ScottyP is completely delusional to consider those stats to be respectable.  Scurvy, how can you look at Scottyp with a straight face?  And to top it off, he’s on the two day work plan.  That must be productive.

If there is anyone still reading this, then I must tell you that the unclaimed TPE is bullshit and you will have to try to convince Spartan to give you TPE for solving these stupid puzzles.

And if you have not read the whole article and tried to claim some TPE, good luck and @Spartan , I apologize in advance for causing any inconvenience that may arise from this!

ScottyP reacted to Thunder in Rip Wheeler - Early Season review:
Gee Scottyp , dont spend too much time doing an early season review.  Shit I could have written a better one for you.  Rip Wheeler flat out sucks his rookie season because scottyp doesnt put the effort into earning TPE.  The only thing you said that was accurate in that article is that you are surrounded by two studs on the line with you.  You’d think that you’d at least have some assists given you have studs playing on your line, but you lose the puck trying to deke all the time, just like in NHL on xbox.  Show some pride,,,, youre a product of Scurvy’s recruitment and you are making him look bad.  Not to mention I picked your dumb ass on my super coach team, and look what you’ve gotten me.  Just click welfare and call yourself Jimmy, not Rip.   Also, just so you know 29 hits and 20 PIMS is not respectable, it’s downright sad.  Play some hockey.  I’ve looked and you get the minutes.  Now get results.

Rip Wheeler - Early Season review:

As of today we are 20 games into Season 89 of the VHL. I’m gonna take a look at Rips stats and try to break down the good the bad and the ugly.

First off 1 goals and 1 assist for a total of two points…ouch…20 games…definitely would like Rip to have more of an impact on the offensive side of things. Gotta improve on that area for asap!

Next plus/minus…plus 5 is not too bad…I do play in a line with two total studs…so that definitely helps! We have had a lot of close games and it’s nice to see Rip isn’t a complete liability on the defensive end. 18 shots is respectable, but still would like more pucks toward the net.

Next is 29 hits and 20 PIMs…not bad for a rookie trying to find his way….I like that Rip is definitely sticking to the tough nosed brand of hockey he promised. Still waiting for that first fight…hopefully it’ll be against Jake Thunder or Brian Payne!

Excited to keep adding more consistent weekly TPE and watch Rip continue to make a positive impact for the club.

ScottyP reacted to Thunder in For TPE Thunder Rips on Wheeler
In order to continue to earn TPE, I have to come up with something else to write.  This shit has been going on for too long!  I’m running out of things to make up, say, or even write about.  Everytime I bitch about it to @Scurvy, he says we should do a podcast, but that’s as far as it goes.  I’ve tried to mumble my way with podcasts and for someone as tarded as I am, its not easy.  Other podcasters like @Spartan , @JardyB10, @MubbleFubbles,  even @Berocka, make it sound so easy.  And then my most recent attempts to earn tpe were coming up with stupid logic puzzles, which took hours to make work, and only get me one week of tpe.  Although the first one, I managed to do two puzzles and get two weeks out of.  And with all that work, I could see that the puzzles were easier than shit.  But hey, I got my tpe!

So this work today is not to discuss anything in particular like, why the hell is Rip Wheeler, @ScottyP, doing so shitty.  Or could it be just that?  Maybe this will be a bitch session so that I can come up with enough words to earn my tpe.  I mean, come on scottyp, what the hell are you doing?  I know, I know, “I do what I do.”  Well, scottyp, you can only live by that motto for so long.  How do you expect your team to get anywhere with a gangly ass long armed winger like you claiming welfare every week.  Come on!  Scurvy should be kicking you in the balls every day until you change your ways.  It would be a self correcting problem.

Let’s get real Rip, you got so lucky getting drafted as high as you got, and that was only because of Scurvy’s reputation in the league.  He stuck his leg out for you and the best you can do is welfare?  I was hopeful when you spent some time in in Oslo, given the quality of GM in @JB123.  And then when you were traded to Calgary, I saw some hope in you finally making it to the big league before Brian Payne and Jake Thunder retire.  While I was looking for your early season stats on Oslo, I found out you bumped up to the VHL.  I will say this to you Rip Wheeler, @Ricer13 has given you a gift.  Now it’s up to you to show that you deserve to be in the VHL.  You can’t say, “I do what I do,” and expect to get a pass in the VHL.  Especially on Calgary.  You’re on a team that wins.  Are you going to contribute or are you going to be a wall flower?  To rip you even more Rip, you’re on the first line with two of the best forwards in the league, Landon Wolanin and Daniel Janser.  How much easier could it get for you to contribute to the team?

Now, to end this on a high note for you Rip Wheeler, there is a chance for you today to fight Jake Thunder and at least be able to talk some serious shit at work, if you win!  Considering the game between Calgary and Vancouver earlier this season, you had the chance to fight Brian Payne, but the it appears that both Rip and Brian were afraid to match up because the only fight in that game was between two bots.  You will have multiple opportunities to drop the gloves this season Rip, so make it happen!  Love you buddy!!

Captain: Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser will finish out the final season of his career as the Calgary Wrangler’s Captain. He has been Captain for four seasons and apart of the Captaincy group for 6 seasons. He has led this team through battle for his entire career and has led this team to a Continental Cup. It’s only fitting he leads this team in his final season.

Assistant Captain: Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877 has been chosen by his teammates to be an Assistant Captain for the fourth straight season. He’s been a steady part of this leadership group and team for the duration of his career and has clearly left an everlasting impact on his teammates.

Assistant Captain: Leandro Goncalves @leandrofg has also been chosen by his teammates to serve as an Assistant Captain. This will be his second time as an assistant for Calgary but has always been a quiet leader for this team. He has always sacrificed his own personal gain for the teams success which makes him an perfect addition to this group.
