Mysterious_Fish got a reaction from Tetricide in My VHL Off-Season
    My VHL Off-Season
    S90

The S90 VHL off-season has been great with my player being in 3 drafts, the fun tournaments and more. Well I will be going over this amazing off-season in this media spot. We will start off with what my player did.

Eric White Jr. of the San Diego Marlins had just been a part of the S89 Founder’s Cup championship team and was in the middle of playing in the Junior Showcase Tournament for the Brigade. Eric White Jr. picked up eight goals and six assists in the 30 game regular season and in the playoffs the Brigade lost to the Rush in seven games in the first round but White Jr. got four goals and three assists in those games. In the midst of all of that White Jr. was getting draft interviews from teams in the M, E and the VHL. The Pro-Am tournament happened and White Jr. knew he had to get into the list of participants. The Bayern Munich Fish were lucky enough to get White Jr. but he wasn’t much help. He was flipping through the 2nd and 3rd line during the regular season and only picked up two points in the 40 game regular season, and those two points were assists. White Jr. did not perform well in the bronze medal round getting zero points in four games.

The draft week was a very busy week for White Jr. as he was in all three drafts. The VHL draft was first and White Jr. got seven draft interviews but the lucky team to get the high 2nd round prospect was the D.C. Dragons with the 20th pick in the draft. White Jr. was ecstatic to be drafted in the 2nd round. D.C. are very happy that they drafted White Jr. and they are just waiting for him to get to the VHL.

The VHLE draft was next and with him being projected to be a 3rd round draft pick that meant he was going to Vastras to play for the Eagles. Well anyone who thought that would be wrong as White Jr. was picked in the 4th round by the Cologne Express. White Jr. was the 24th pick in that draft and all parties were very happy about that selection. Cologne’s team mascot and the best mascot in all of the VHL leagues Henry the Dog was very happy about that being the teams 2nd pick of the draft.

There is still one more draft and that is the VHLM draft. White Jr. was definitely projected to be a very high pick in that draft and well here is what happened. “With the 8th pick in the VHLM Dispersal Draft the San Diego Marlins are proud to select Eric White Jr.” That is correct White Jr. went back to the Marlins and is now looking for a 2nd championship and a back to back.

I didn’t just have a player to deal with, I was also a GM during the off-season. I was the GM of the Brigade in the JST and the GM of the Bayern Munich Fish in the Pro-Am, so I was lucky to be able to draft my own player in both of those drafts.

Being a GM isn’t the easiest thing in the VHL but it is definitely fun. In the JST I was the GM for the Brigade and was paired with an experienced AGM in the VHL @McWolf It took me a few days to do my scouting but then it was JST draft day. My first pick that day was Raimo Tuominen and I always had back to back picks which sucked at first but it got better since I was able to make 2 picks at the same time. I was unable to get a few players that I wanted but it worked out in the end. Once I made my lines I just had to wait for the season to start. Throughout the season I had to make a few changes to the lines and strategies but overall it worked out ok. The Brigade finished the season 2nd in the league with a record of 18-9-3 and I had to start focusing on the playoffs. Going up against the Yukon Rush I knew the series would be close but sadly the Brigade lost in seven games in a devastating 3-2 loss in game seven. I couldn’t have been happier of what my team accomplished during the JST as they did all they could every game.

I asked @McWolf a few questions and they were, How did you enjoy being my AGM in the JST? And, What was it like being an AGM for me? His answer to those were:

"I liked being an AGM to help the new players get started in the league. I also like helping you get your first management experience. I thought you were good, talking with the players a lot in the locker room, and in DMs on the forum for those not on Discord. I appreciated that."

In the Pro-Am it was very similar as I had to scout, draft, make lines, fix lines throughout the season but this time I decided to make captains and I chose my AGM. I was one of the few teams to get an AGM but it was really helpful. I let the team vote for captains and they voted for: Landon Wolanin to be the captain and Sjin. and Rick Grimes to be the assistant captains. The Fish finished 2nd overall at the end of the regular season and lost in 5 games to the Houston heat and we now had to fight for 3rd place. The Bayern Munich Fish played for bronze and swept the Vancouver Peacooks to take 3rd place.

I also asked my AGM @dylanjj37 the same questions of: How did you enjoy being my AGM in the Pro-Am? And, What was it like being an AGM for me? His answer to those were:
“I loved being your AGM. We made a great team and I really enjoyed it.”

“The best thing about being AGM for you was that you knew what you wanted and you tried your hardest to get it. It's easy to be an AGM when you have such a great GM to work with.”

It doesn't end there. The Warsaw Predators GM @N0HBDY interviewed my player Eric White Jr. about possibly drafting him but then he asked if I wanted to be his AGM for this upcoming season and further. This happened two days before the VHL draft but it didn’t change my answer as I still said yes and became the AGM of the VHL’s Warsaw Predators. He taught me all about how to be an official GM/AGM in the VHL/E/M and then it was draft day. That day was very busy since my player was in the draft and I was possibly going to have to make some picks. He let me make some picks but he told me who he wanted to draft so that I could get some experience about being a GM/AGM on draft day. He also told me to give out some ELC’s and those were great learning experiences.

I asked him: What made you ask me to be your AGM?
“Being a commissioner in the JST I get to see a lot more behind the scenes than pretty much everyone else. I've never had much of an AGM I've really used since most of the team's I inherited were more or less inactive so I kinda just chilled and ran stuff by myself more or less. This time around with Warsaw after my last AGM was unresponsive to me and we had a decent amount of draft picks and I possibly wasn't going to be around retaining those guys would be key in bringing the franchise back and so I thought why not try to get someone for once when I get around to it. Come draft scouting/interviews, Mysterious Fish, super active guy in the JST, possibly someone I could make my disciple and teach him the ropes. So I shot my shot for the hell of it, didn't interview anyone else before that, and all of a sudden I got myself an agm!”

Well this was definitely a busy off-season for me in the VHL community so I figured I would share it with you all. I can’t wait for the start of S90 and being able to play for the San Diego Marlins again, being the AGM for the Warsaw Predators, grinding tpe for the future seasons and most of all having fun while doing it. Enjoy S90 on whatever team in whatever level you are GMing in or your player is playing in!

Mysterious_Fish reacted to Keegan Gamble in Interview with Newest Cologne Express Captain: Keegan Gamble ft Henry the Crippled Dog (Team Mascot)
Interviewer: Ladies and gentlemen, hockey fans around the world, we have a special treat for you today. I'm here with the newest captain of the Cologne Express in the VHLE, Keegan Gamble. Keegan, congratulations on being named the captain! How does it feel to take on this leadership role, especially after the team's recent championship victory in the Renaissance Cup?

Keegan Gamble: Thank you so much! It's truly an honor to be named the captain of the Cologne Express, especially coming off such an incredible championship win. The energy within the team is electric right now, and I'm excited to keep that momentum going into the new season.

Interviewer: Keegan, it's clear that teamwork and camaraderie play a vital role in the success of any hockey team. Could you tell us a bit about your newly appointed assistant captains, Savaisk Tzesar and John Richards, and what they bring to the leadership group?

Keegan Gamble: Absolutely, I'd be happy to. Savaisk Tzesar and John Richards are both exceptional players and even better individuals. They've been instrumental in fostering a positive atmosphere within our team, and their leadership qualities are truly impressive.

Savaisk is a forward with an unparalleled work ethic. Coming off an incredible season in the VHLM with the champions San Diego Marlins, he put up 34 goals and 81 points in the regular season. His dedication to improving himself and helping his teammates is inspiring. He's the kind of guy who always leads by example, both on and off the ice.

Then we have John, who also came off a stellar season, leading the Bratislava Watchmen with 42 goals and 85 points. He is a forward with a natural ability to motivate and inspire. He's got this sense of when to lighten the mood and when to focus the team's energy. His experience and strong communication skills make him a perfect bridge between the players and the coaching staff.

Together, Savaisk, John, and I form a leadership trio that balances different strengths and styles. We're a united front, working closely to ensure that every player feels valued and motivated. They're both incredibly deserving of their roles, and I'm thrilled to have them by my side as we navigate the challenges of the upcoming season.

Interviewer: General Manager Sijn and Assistant General Manager Fradin must have seen something special in you to entrust you with this role. What qualities or strengths do you think led to their decision?

Keegan Gamble: Well, I think it's a combination of factors. Firstly, I believe my passion for the game and commitment to the team's success have been evident since day one. I've always been vocal on and off the ice, motivating my teammates and pushing us all to be our best. Secondly, I'm a firm believer in leading by example. My performance last season was a testament to that, and I plan on continuing to contribute both on the score sheet and in the locker room. Lastly, I've built strong relationships with my teammates, and I think that friendship and trust are essential for any successful team.

Interviewer: Speaking of your performance, you had an outstanding season with 62 points in the regular season and another 9 points in the playoffs. How do you plan to maintain this level of performance while also shouldering the responsibilities of captaincy?

Keegan Gamble: It's definitely going to be a balancing act, but I thrive on challenges. The captaincy is an added responsibility, but it won't change my approach to the game. I'll continue to focus on my training, work closely with the coaching staff, and collaborate with my teammates to ensure we're all on the same page. It's about finding that sweet spot where my personal performance enhances the team's overall success.

Interviewer: The new season starts tomorrow, and the Express are aiming for a back-to-back championship win. How are you and the team feeling about the upcoming season?

Keegan Gamble: We're all incredibly excited for the new season to start. The taste of victory from last year has only fueled our hunger for more. We know that defending our title won't be easy, as other teams will be gunning for us, but that's the challenge we're embracing. We've been working hard during the offseason to fine-tune our strategies and stay in peak physical condition. There's a palpable determination in the locker room, and we're ready to hit the ice and give it our all.

Interviewer: Before we wrap up, I've heard that the Cologne Express has a rather unique and inspiring team mascot named "Henry the Crippled Dog." Could you share a bit about the story behind this mascot and how it impacts the team's spirit?

Keegan Gamble: Absolutely, I'd love to talk about Henry. Henry is actually my dog (IRL), I got him when I was young and he has been my best friend ever since, as soon as I showed the team my dog, they wanted to make him the team mascot. Henry the Crippled Dog holds a special place in the hearts of every player on the team. He's not just a mascot, he's a symbol of resilience, determination, and overcoming adversity. His story is truly remarkable. Despite facing physical challenges, he's full of life and exudes an unwavering spirit that resonates with all of us.

We often look to Henry as a source of inspiration, a reminder that no matter the obstacles we face, we can always find the strength to push through and keep going. His presence at our games and practices serves as a constant reminder that we're not just playing for ourselves but for each other and our amazing fans. Henry's positive attitude and ability to persevere in the face of adversity mirror the values we uphold as a team.
Interviewer: It's heartwarming to hear how Henry's story has become an integral part of your team's culture. It sounds like his spirit aligns perfectly with the values of dedication and perseverance that you all embrace.

Keegan Gamble: Henry's story reinforces the idea that even when things get tough, we can come together and find a way to rise above. He is a beloved member of our team, his presence in the locker room and on the ice reminds us that we're not alone in our journey. It's a privilege to have him as part of our extended family.
     This is Henry
Interviewer: Well, that is all the time we have today! Keegan, with your enthusiasm, dedication, and your incredible mascot, it's clear that the Cologne Express is in good hands. Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us, Keegan, and best of luck in the upcoming season as the team's new captain!

Keegan Gamble: Thank you! It's been a pleasure talking with you. To all our fans out there, get ready for an exhilarating season of hockey. We're bringing our A-game, and we can't wait to make you proud!

Mysterious_Fish reacted to Arce in S90 San Diego Marlins Captains
The defending S89 Founder’s Cup Champion Marlins are back and ready to defend their title. Another talented squad has been put together and it is my honor to announce our captains circle for this upcoming season.

    [C] Eric White Jr

For the first time in what feels like an eternity, the Marlins must select a captain! One of the defending champion Marlins is returning for more glory. The Marlins were thrilled to get Eric White Jr@Mysterious_Fish back in the draft, not just talent wise but for his leadership role. White has easily been one of the biggest voices in the locker room and has a big input on the direction of the team. It has clearly been very valued by management, and White was a no brainer to rep the C for the fish in S90

    [A] Leif Reingaard

A huge draft day surprise for the Marlins was that Reinhard @Zetterbergdropped down to them in the late first round. Not only did the Marlins land one of the best players in the draft, they got one hell of a personality with it. Z has been an incredible addition to the Marlins locker room and recruitment front. It’s only the off-season and Reingaard has already been an incredible asset in San Diego, I can only imagine what value he will bring on the ice as well.

    [A] Olober Syko

I usually do not select goaltenders to wear the letter due to the rules in most leagues in regards to it. But how do you not pick a guy like @Spartan ? We know we are getting the most healthy earner of this era of the VHL, but we are also getting one of the biggest locker room atmosphere players as well. Syko knows how to get a conversation going but stop the puck at the same time. We are thrilled to have him.

Mysterious_Fish reacted to Laine in Marlins look to Greenland for back-to-back cups
The Miami Marlins, fresh off a Founder's Cup Championship in S89 have been looking to stock the cupboards with some young, fresh talent as the team gears up to push for back-to-back championships, which would make them the first team since the S83-84 Las Vegas Aces to accomplish that feat. With the season just around the corner, Marlins GM @Arce hopes to have found his two missing pieces in a massively talented, off the radar family.

First, The Marlins picked up RW Dietrich Reingaard from the undrafted market. The hulking 6' 7" is a force to be reckoned with on any line. His up and down punishing style of play will have you feeling it both on the ice, and on the scoresheet. The 16 year old phenom signed with the Marlins earlier this week and put the Marlins right back into the Cup conversation, with Reingaard expected to have a huge season. However, the Marlins pulled off a move that put the entire VHLM on notice.

You see, the Reingaards have a long history of hockey lineage. Deitrich is just the youngest of FOUR Reingaard brothers who are all involved in hockey.

Third in line is Lief Reingaard, a stout two-way defenseman who also plays on the Marlins, and helped lure Deitrich to North America. He's the smallest of the Reingaard brothers by a large margin, standing only 5' 9" and weighing 165 pounds, but hits like a wrecking ball and isn't afraid to use his body to both punish his opponents and block shots. His slapshot is one of the deadliest in the VHLM and he's projecting as a 1st round talent in the S91 VHL Draft.

Second in line is Thor Reingaard, probably the most notable of the four brothers. Thor combines size and scoring into one deadly package. He's known for his tenacity down low in corners and can bruise through the middle on the rush. He wins faceoffs with ease and can easily beat you with his slapshot and wrist shot. He is easily in the conversation to go 1st overall in the S91 VHL Draft, and has already made the jump to the VHLE in hopes of competing with the Vasteras Iron Eagles.

We all known about these three, but aren't we forgetting one? The old of the Reingaard brothers is an interesting proposition

The oldest of the Reingaard brothers is Aanarsi Reingaard. This hulking 6' 5" RW is the newest San Diego Marlin. He was a phenom growing up alongside his brothers, as the four together ripped through every Greenland hockey league and even some Major Junior leagues in Europe. Aanarsi's combination of size, strength, speed, and scoring is unlike any other prospect coming out of Greenland. He has an incredible one-timed release, frequently fed on the power play by his brothers. His 6' 5" frame and immense strength allow him to go into the corners and grind for loose pucks. When he's not fighting for pucks, he's looking for open space on the ice or backchecking like crazy. He loves to get in shooting lanes and can retrieve the puck and thrive on the rush with his speed and hands. If you give him even a split second of space by himself in the offensive zone with his brothers on the ice, odds are the puck will end up in the back of your net.

San Diego has undeniably become a Founder's Cup Favourite with this signing. The reunification of the Aanarsi and Deitrich on a line together and Lief running the blue line will be a force that's hard to stop with the chemistry between those three. Not to mention the rest of the roster already rounding into peak form. We'll have to wait and see, but San Diego looks poised for a shot at the elusive back-to-back.

I am happy that you are excited to be on the squad. Arce is a great GM and he wants to give players a great opportunity. Last season I joined the team via free agency in the middle of the season but luckily the team had only played 8 games at that point. Arce gave me a great chance and as the season went on I improved. We ended up winning the Founder's Cup and we were very happy. I am also glad that I was able to be drafted by the Marlins in the first round, 8th pick and San Diego's first pick of the VHLM Disposal Draft. So I am glad I can come back and play one more season in the M with the Marlins before going up to the E to play for S89's captain's team Cologne Express.

San Diego here we come I have lived in the United States my whole life but I have never been to the west coast. I have been picked in the 3rd round of the VHLM entry draft to the San Diego Marlins I think I could have been picked higher than 26th overall. This however gives me a lot of time to prove to those other teams they should have picked me.

Firstly, I would l like to thank Arce for giving me the chance to play in the VHLM and I think the team that he is putting together is a great one and hopefully we can achieve a lot of greatness this season.

I am keen to work with other big names of the VHL to make San Diego a great team and hopefully take us far into the playoffs. But I don’t want to be getting ahead of myself too far the season hasn’t started and the draft still isn’t done at the time of writing this. However I want to be a great player and I think that San Diego should be a great starting block for this.

So when the Marlins take the ice for their first game look out for me on the ice.

    Hey VHL @Members!

Old hands of the league have surely been waiting for this but for any youngin’s out there that aren’t aware July 18th, 2007 is the day the VHL opened. That means today marks the league's official 16th birthday. Our little league can officially drive! Fucking wild. Anyway, it’s been an absolute wild time over the past 16 years but we know you all didn't click on this to read about how fucking ancient I am. You came in for the TPE and I intend on delivering it!

To commemorate the league's 16th birthday, we are giving all members a Triples Week, which adds 12 Uncapped TPE to any 6-TPE Point Task (Welfare/Pension/Affiliate PT are not included but as usual if your pay covers your PT that counts), as well as 4 Uncapped TPE. To claim these perks, which naturally add up to 16 Uncapped TPE (aren’t we so clever) all you need to do is post in this thread and then link to that post in your update; that's it! No scavenger hunt, no clues, no catches! Do a PT, make one post, and the sweet TPE is all yours.

That’s not all though! We’re gonna also put everyone who claims this birthday TPE into a draw for even more TPE, we know what you all like after all. At the end of this season we’ll draw for 16 prizes of 10 more uncapped TPE each.

So, to summarize quickly, that's 16 uncapped TPE just for commenting and doing a PT with the possibility of even more later curtesy of the VHL. All you have to do is post in here and you're good to go!

    Notes:
    • This thread will remain open until 11:59PM PST on Monday, July 24th.
    • All claims for the birthday bonus must be made by the end of the playoffs this season.
    • Birthday perks may only be claimed on one player per member (IE if you are re-creating you can't claim them on your current player, re-create, and claim them again, pick one or the other).

Mysterious_Fish got a reaction from Subject056 in Eric White Jr's Scouting Report
    Eric White Jr’s Scouting Report
    VHLM Career

Man the VHLM is insane to play in and even though I am still in the middle of my VHLM season I should have this scouting report so that the VHL and VHLE General Managers can know why they should or shouldn’t draft me.

Eric White Jr is a LW who can also play center if you really need me to as the San Diego General Manager Arce has been playing me as a center and I have been doing well with it as I have a 55% success rate (I think, don’t quote me on this statement). With me improving by at least 8 tpe a week you can expect a lot of improvement. Now you really want to know what my Pro’s, Middle’s (Neutral’s) and Negatives are, so I will start by telling you my Pro’s.

My pro’s consist of Passing, Skating and my defensive play. So far in my 30 games played I have gone 8 assists, now it may not seem like a lot but my defensive play is what shocks some of the other teams since I am playing very defensive which has helped the San Diego Marlins as we have been doing a great job winning, having my good defense is great thing to have since I am a forward so most teams would expect me to be a more offensive player then what I really am so I would really be classified as a 2-way-forward, also I have decent physical play right now with 42 hits in 30 games so I am able to play the body when we are in the defensive or offensive zone. I have some decent skating ability but as time goes on it will get better than it is right now.

I don’t have many things that are in the middle but one is my face-off winning ability. There are some games that I have exceptional games inside the dot but other games I have struggles in the dot. Now there will always be those ups and downs when taking face-offs which is why it isn’t a pro or a con.

My con is goal scoring. I am not the type of player to go on the ice and put the puck inside the back of the net, as I said in my pro’s I am the type of player to help make the goals happen, so if you are needing a goal scorer I can help a bit by passing the puck to create the scoring chance.

Arce, my GM from the San Diego Marlins said, “Your player works very hard, plays a really good two-way game. Very involved in the defensive zone, and throws around the body a lot which has resulted in offensive chances for our team”.

This is my scouting report I hope this helps you scout me!

Day in the Life Playing in the VHLM
    Eric White Jr

Playing the VHLM can be challenging since you have to train for the VHL and do other things to still enjoy life. So I will be telling you about my day in the life of Playing in the VHLM.

My day starts with a morning jog in beautiful San Diego, California. The morning jog is a 1 hour jog so I can start the day with a good exercise, now before I do my jog I make sure to stretch so I don’t get injured. By the time I get home I will be able to eat as my roommate has made breakfast for the two of us. After I eat I make sure I shower so that I can chill at home and do some school work. Even though you are doing a lot of hockey in the VHLM you still have to do school work as you are still technically in school until you play your first game in the VHL. After I do school I go to the gym to finish off my morning. Monday and Wednesday I do upper body, Tuesday and Thursday I do lower Body and then Saturday and Sunday is Agility and then whatever else I feel like I should do that day, but normally Saturday is upper body and Sunday is lower body. After you workout you have to get food or liquids into your body so I will normally have lunch after I get home from the gym. I would then have a bath to relax my muscles before I go to the arena to play and since it is a home game today I don’t have to travel very far to get to the arena. It is important for me to relax my muscles before a game so that when I get to the arena I can stretch without my muscles hurting a lot before the game.

It is time to relax before I go to the arena so I either watch T.V. or play video games to help my mind escape the other thoughts that I have which are mainly school. My go to video game is NHL 23 before a game to start getting into the hockey mindset. When I get to the arena I walk around and get used to the environment I am in then I will go and get food for my pre-game meal. My pre-game meal will normally be a chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-a and then waffle fries and water. When I’m done and I’m back at the arena I walk around again and then start stretching. A few of the guys and I start to play keep up with a soccer ball to get some more chemistry, coordination, and then some fun during our pre-game warm-up. We then get ready to go onto the ice for the warm up on the ice, I enjoy attempting to talk to the fans and give a few pucks to some fans. Then it is a small break then game time. It is always fun to play games with our fans at home as in San Diego the fans have lots of fun with the game which lets us know that we have great supporters. When the game is over I stay a bit after as I take one more lap around the arena then head home.

Well that is my day in my life on the day of a home game playing for the San Diego Marlins. My day is different when we are playing an away game.

Day in the Life Playing in the VHLM
