  1. Started just about the time you left apparently. My first player, S20 draft, was Lars Intranquilo. He had a boat full of tpe (956) but still sucked- although you'd have seen me when I had far fewer tpe.
  2. Not that 55 is a huge drop from 56, 57, and 57, but I agree with the fact that you had more to do than the others.
  3. #belikeJason This is a piece of advice that is applicable in many situations.
  4. I gave Jardy some days to play him earlier on (never too far in advance, as per the new rule) and he missed them. It happens. Cal G1 still went 8-0 anyway.
  5. Martin Brookside - whatever junior team is by Jardy so I can go pester him
  6. Goalie Controversy Oslo, Norway – Rumors out of Oslo Storm facilities indicate that a goaltending controversy exists between Martin Brookside and Totallynota Bear. Brookside has been the starter for the club the entire season, amassing 35 wins, a 2.77 goals against average, and a .906 save percentage in 71 games to date. These are actually fairly strong numbers for a VHLM goaltender, considering that the league on the whole is more offensively-minded than its VHL counterpart. Specifically, a save percentage over .900 is considered a milestone in the VHLM which indicates a talented goaltender. However, Totallynota Bear put forth a fairly impressive showing himself in his one game, allowing 3 goals on 29 shots (.897 save percentage) and a 2.97 goals against average. Furthermore, the expectations for Bear were never really much higher than what he’s given the team, whereas Brookside was supposed to do much better than this. As such, some members of personnel within the franchise think it might be time to give Bear a chance to come in on a more regular basis, expand his role and see if he can handle the workload. If he can, it will be seen as a wake up call to the previously lauded Brookside. Brookside early in the season, confidently covering his net. Overall, it’s doubtful that any change will be made, because even though Bear was good in his one game, Brookside’s stats are still better over a longer period of time. However, if a change is made, there is one clear stat to point to. Bear’s winning percentage is better than Brookside’s. Brookside is 35-28-7, which if we count the ties as half-wins, comes out to a winning percentage of 54%. Bear’s percentage is significantly better, at 100%. Bear has won every game he’s played, all one of them. Maybe, just maybe, what this team needs going into the playoffs is a chance for Bear to shine and step up for the Storm. The first round is against the Royals, whom the Storm should beat regardless of goalie, so maybe that’s the chance to put Bear in and see what he can do against playoff-caliber opposition. Bear, pictured above in practice. Talking to Brookside about these rumors, it seems he is supportive of the move, which is surprising. “Well, I never heard of any plans to start Bear. This is news to me, but honestly, the kid deserves a few shots at it. I go out there every night, and it can get tiring, especially at the end of a long season. Bear proved in the game he played that he was a capable replacement, so it wouldn’t really bother me if the coach decided to throw a few more starts his way, as long as in the end I remained the starter. Let’s face it, we both know who the more talented player is, but Bear does have one thing I don’t have. The guy’s huge, almost the size of, well, a bear. He can take up much of the net. It’ll be hard to score on a guy who doesn’t leave any holes, and Bear doesn’t leave any holes because he’s the same size as the net itself. Maybe it’d be good for his confidence to throw him a game or two against Bern in the next round.”
  7. Earlier today, confusion abounded when Oslo Storm GM Thomas Landry was unsure of whether starting goalie Martin Brookside had access to the locker room. This confusion is completely understandable, as Brookside hasn't exactly made himself known at practice and has just been coasting by on his natural talent, which for some reason he insists on calling "carryover points" which isn't a term that makes any sense to us. In fact, the comment about whether Brookside had locker room access was at a practice, a big one for the team and the first one Brookside has attended all season. There is some debate as to whether this will spark a trend for him and get him to keep coming to practice, or whether it is just a one-off and he's back to trying to coast. It's been proven time and time again in this league, coasting will generally succeed in the VHLM but in the VHL, it's just going to backfire. Brookside has started to see how he's having a harder time in games against people who attend practice, but will it be enough to get him to do the same? Brookside's disappearance from practice comes as no small shock, given the agency he plays for, but then again, each player is his own and no history within an agency can guarantee the next guy will turn out the same. Nonetheless, a lot is being asked of Brookside for his career (he's already expected to be the future franchise goalie of the Calgary Wranglers due to his ties with their GM, and he's not even on the team yet) and the pressure is on to produce.
  8. USA will win because we're bound to have an Algeria or a South Korea in our group. USA will win that match.
  9. I can build a list of the women I find most attractive (that wasn't what the title explicitly asked for, but it can be done). I have no problem with that. I will never, under any circumstances, call them my favorite females.
  10. Judging based on appearance isn't the issue. I agree that's not sexist, it's done equally on both sides. What's sexist is saying that they're your "favorite females" based solely on that judgment, implying that their worth as how they appear to you is more valuable than their worth as what they do. So many people in this thread are misinterpreting what I was actually saying. As for "He's gotta be fun at parties" people go to parties with the understanding that they will be judged based on appearance, and honestly, like I said, even in real life judging someone by their appearance isn't the problem. The problem is that these people that you're judging by appearance are suddenly your "favorite females" which devalues those who do other things besides appearance. I have plenty of women I like the appearance of. Let's go with Larissa Riquelme, the one I've most frequently brought up on here. Do I judge her on appearance? Yes. Do I think that's a problem? No. Do I consider her to be the "most attractive" woman? Yes. Do I consider her my "favorite"? No.
  11. Can't compete with: Germany Spain Brazil Argentina Portugal Italy Belgium Netherlands Favored to lose to, but could feasibly pull a result: Russia England Uruguay Chile Ghana Ivory Coast Cameroon France Colombia Denmark Can beat the other teams.
  12. I'll make two separate categories here: Favorite females primarily from an appearance standpoint (although with some cultural significance that I like, putting them ahead of random actresses and singers): 1. Larissa Riquelme (surprising no one) 2. Eva Carneiro (Chelsea physio, also dating Juan Mata) 3. The PITT cheerleaders and dance team Favorite females on the whole (many of these are well into middle-age if not older, but what they do is not tied to appearance): 1. Elizabeth Warren (senator from Massachusetts) 2. Agatha Christie (mystery writer, and the only person on either of my lists who is deceased) 3. Virginia Stein (former professor of mine) 4. Katherine Switzer (first woman to break the gender barrier in the Boston Marathon, did a lot for changing the rules of many of the events) 5T. Barbara Enright, Kathy Liebert, Annie Duke, Jennifer Harman, other top women's poker players (these are probably the best ones at actual poker- there are ones such as Erin Ness, Liv Boeree, and Vanessa Rousso who aren't as good but are a mix of both lists) 6T. Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Ruth Bader Ginsburg (supreme court justices) Also, I don't mean to turn this thread into a criticism that judging women solely on their appearance is sexist. I mean, it is, but that's not my point here. Many of you are high schoolers, so I wouldn't be surprised if these women you like the appearance of really are your favorite women. For those of you who aren't, maybe you haven't yet found a cause you can support, or a woman you can admire for her intelligence and impact on society, or maybe you do just prefer a woman's looks over her function as a person, and while I don't subscribe to that belief, to each his own.
  13. Considering the billions of football leagues Chris and Bash have been in together, it would surprise me if Tyrael doesn't go 2nd
  14. USA will obviously make it to either the round of 16 or the round of 8 before losing horribly to a country we really can't compete with.
  15. I guess her name is Nickel, cause she's got a buffalo head
  16. I was hoping France would miss, for karma's sake after the Henry handball last time (I still wear an Ireland track jacket every time France plays, and I'm not even an Ireland fan). Oh well, clearly the better side won, can't just fluke into 3-0.
  17. Considering how many are locked, I'm going to bump this so it doesn't get lost on a later page. Yes, I'm aware that puts it at the back of the line. However, I'd rather the back of the line than risk not being in the line at all. You guys are on top of things, and it's only been two days (so I don't expect anything) but I've graded before and I know things can get lost when under a bunch of locked ones.
  18. I actually just ordered an FF game, but not the one you're thinking. I got an old copy of the "FF Chronicles" pairing for PS1 (I have one of the backwards compatible PS2s) which is FF4 and Chrono Trigger. Primarily wanted Chrono Trigger since I've played 4, but I like 4 well enough that I'll likely play it again as well. Also just got NHL14 so I might be on that for a while before I jump to the other.
  19. Etna isn't really a small town, as much as it's a small neighborhood that's officially part of a larger city (Pittsburgh) much like New Yorkers might say they are from the Bronx or Queens. Obviously, Pittsburgh is known for quite a bit. Etna specifically, not so much. Really the only semi-big thing is the Scarehouse. It's the 5th ranked haunted house in the country, and it's about a ten minute walk down the hill.
  20. Martin Brookside Goalie ALL the stats!
