  • Josh changed the title to Conference Finals: Game 5

Today, Toronto decimated Los Angeles in a lopsided victory to win the North American Conference finals. The final score was 6 - 2 with an outstanding performance by Mac Atlas who scored 1 goal and 4 assists. Toronto really spread around the goals this game with no players scoring more than one. There were 6 goals all by unique players. This wasn't by accident as Toronto had 49 shots to Los Angeles' 33. Hopefully Toronto can pull of a Continental Cup!

Big statement to end a very long finals drought for Toronto.

Toronto vs Helsinki, that's a proper throwback final.

In fact, a 24 or a 25 season cup drought will end this season.

Game Recap: Game 78 Helsinki Titans vs. London United

This game is high stakes. Helsinki currently has a 3-1 chokehold on the series. This will put them in the finals if they win.

The game starts out slowly with the first period only having 13 shots in total. There was a fight at 6:38 where Molly the Cat instigated a fight and "beat up" Landon Wolanin. Molly received a game misconduct and was ejected. There was no goal in the first period. There was also no penalties other than that game misconduct.

The puck drops on the second period. At 12:50 Deron Nesbitt of London United received a hooking penalty and this turned out to be costly as Daryl Dixon of Helsinki capitalized at 13:26 assisted by YaBoi Oven and Pierre Emile Bouchard. There was no goals after that and in the 2nd London outscored Helsinki 16-15 but still let up a goal.

3 minutes after the puck dropped on the third, Deron Nesbitt received a tripping penalty again which set up Helsinki in a good spot to get a 2-0 lead but Helsinki couldn't capitalize. Still, at 12:15 a bot defenseman scored assisted by Chip Stone and a bot right wing. Helsinki dominated in the 3rd outshooting 11-7. Then, Helsinki players stormed the ice and crowded around the goalie as they clinched their spot in the Final against Toronto. Final score: Helsinki 2 London 0. Helsinki also dominated in terms of faceoffs going 38 for 68. (this was game 78 after 77 so erm actually yes toronto had clinched at that time 🤓☝️)

Game Recap: Game 77 Toronto Legion vs Los Angeles Stars

This game decides if Toronto gets into the final. Huge stakes today could bring back a matchup from Season 65 where Toronto beat Helsinki in a 7 game series to secure the cup.

The puck drops on the first period.  At 6:38 there was the first goal as Todd Cooke of Los Angeles scored the opening goal assisted by Jon Webber Jr and Napoleon Dynamite to maybe try to get out of the 3-1 chokehold they were in. Then, at 14:27 Harry Calllahan of Toronto responded back assisted by Jimi Jaks and Mac Atlas. 4 minutes later, Napoleon Dynamite of Los Angeles scored assisted by Adam Rage and Elias Lampi and took the lead right back. The score was 2-1 for Los Angeles but Toronto had dominated in the shot category leading 17-9 in shots. Only 26 seconds after the puck dropped on the second, Tomas Sogaard  scored for  Toronto to tie it at two assisted by  Jimmy MacElroy and Mac Atlas. Then, at 17:44 Mac Atlas for Toronto scored and took their first lead of the night assisted by Jimi Jaks and Walter Fitzroy Jr. The second period ended with Toronto outshooting Los Angeles 18-14 but now they have a 3-2 lead. After that, it just started to get crazy. I won't explain what time the goals were scored for Toronto but I will say the names.

4-2 scored by Montgomery Burns assisted by Tomas Sogaard

5-2 scored by Bobby Bob assisted by Mac Atlas

6-2 scored by  Jimi Jaks assisted by Mac Atlas and Bobby Bob

The final score was 6-2 as Toronto players and coaches alike hugged their goalie and team as they clinched a spot in the final for a chance to end the long cup drought they've had. Toronto had a whopping 49 shots and Los Angeles only had 33.

The goalie stats for tonight were Joel Castle for Toronto having a 0.939 save percentage and Art Vandelay of Los Angeles with a 0.878 save percentage.
