The best way to showcase that talent is with a full all-star weekend, complete with skills competitions and ending with a four-on-four game. The stakes of the game? The rights to home-ice advantage in the Founder’s Cup Finals. The teams will be divided into conferences, separating teams in the east and west. Each team will be represented by at least one player, with the remaining players chosen by the players themselves, and the fans. The Venue The reigning Founder’s Cup champions will have the honour of hosting the All-Star Weekend. The events will take place in the Wild’s arena, as well as throughout Saskatoon. The Captains Representing the VHLM All-Stars West, the captain(SB), the funk master himself – Samsayz I-Smell! I-Smell has been dominant for the west-leading Mexico City Kings, compiling 54 points, all while staying defensively sound and on pace for almost 150 hits and 200 blocked shots.While he most certainly didn’t ask for the recognition to lead the West All-Stars, he does deserve the title. (I’d like to add that while writing this, I thought of the perfect name for teammates of I-Smell while he captains them, and from this moment forward will be referred to as his Stenchmen) Captaining the the VHLM All-Stars East, Young Papi, El Jefe, the league’s leader in points – Robin Sierra! Sierra is tearing up the league in his second season. In just a few games, he surpassed every stat total from last season, going on to score 40 goals in 40 games so far and leading the VHLM with 77 points. The alternate captain of the Halifax 21st has been vocal on and off the ice, culminating in a vulnerable and courageous interview about his life and relationship with hockey. Robin has put in the work and is ready to lead the East All-Stars. Fastest skater, hardest shot, passing challenge, accuracy shooting, and shootout challenge. Fastest Skater Challenge Meghan Dancalot, Gavin Bebard, Ahsoka Tano, kevin jonathen Vs Anthony Simmons II, Tim Robinson, Ozzy Batty, Einar Mathiesen Hardest Shot Challenge David Pastanap, Miles Bryant Vs Konstyantyn Shevchenko, Donald Carlson Passing Challenge Jerry Box, Jacob Longstreet, Miles Bryant Vs Robin Sierra, Konstyantyn Shevchenko, Donald Carlson Accuracy Shooting Challenge Captain Nugget Jr., Jerry Box Vs Phil Sakic, Robin Sierra Lastly, each player will get a chance to shoot on each opposing goalie. The goalie tandem to stop the most shots wins the challenge. The weekend will culminate with the VHLM 4-on-4 All-Star Game. Each captain will set their lineup and play three ten-minute periods, where the winners will be crowned All-Star Game champions and the winning conference will host game one of the Founder’s Cup Finals. (Please remember that this is all subjective and I didn’t put too much thought into who would be on what team. I quickly looked at numbers and tried to make it all make sense. If you feel like you should have been selected for this hypothetical All-Star Game, I apologize for leaving you out.)
