Hi, it's that time of the off-season again. A joyous occasion in which we enshrine players and members into the storied Hall of Fame, and this season we have 1 of each to induct.

S90 Alexander Valiq Trophy (Top Offensive Defenceman)

S93 Sterling Labatte Trophy (Top Defenceman)

S93 Alexander Valiq Trophy (Top Offensive Defenceman)

S93 Jake Wylde Trophy (Top Defensive Defenceman)

S94 Sterling Labatte Trophy (Top Defenceman)

S94 Alexander Valiq Trophy (Top Offensive Defenceman)

4x All-VHL First Team (S90, S91, S93, S94)

Two Continental Cups (S89, S95)

Some players are very clearly destined for the Hall and this is certainly one of those cases. Plus, since retirement @Alex has not been shy of pondering where exactly Skor McFleury sits in the pantheon of VHL's greats. We can debate that into perpetuity (for the record, Alex is wrong :P ), but what is certain is that this was a damn good career. One of the league's top two defencemen for nearly half a career, despite swapping several teams, winning cups with two of them, it was a dominant display reminiscent of bygone eras. The demands of a 9-season career also didn't stop McFleury from signing off with a flourish, and having very impressive statistics throughout. All in all, a deserved induction for a lot of hard work.

Voting results

Skor McFleury - 14/16

---

Nico Pearce - 7/16

Bo Johansson - 4/16

Papa Emeritus - 3/16

Hammar Voss - 1/16

The Frenchamn - 1/16

Kristof Welch - 0/16

Speaking of a lot of hard work paying off, that is also true of our Builder inductee this season. @Gustav  is one of what I call the "new" generation i.e. members who join in the league's post-S60 renaissance, but of course he's not that new at all. Most of the league won't have known a VHLM where Gustav is not commissioner, a demanding role requiring constant activity and timely resolution of issues and adapting to a fast moving league. Gus got there through showing his dedication as a GM in Mississauga and Davos and yet despite this is probably best known for the ever-present commentary on league issues and in plain terms, forum content. Gus is now a long-serving member of the Board of Governors where he is always pitching into the discussions and proposing his own solutions, some of which the wider public has seen through his Media Spots and other forum posts over the years.

It's quite ironic to me to induct a player who was just heaving covered by his user, as well as a Builder who just wrote 30 articles about his own time in the VHL. You guys don't really need me to say anything do you? That said, well done, congratulations, and thanks for doing everything you've been doing around the VHL Alex and Gus.

My man @Gustav  🤝

Pleasure knowing you for the last 4 (nearly 5) years and working alongside you in some form or fashion for most of that time as well. Congrats on the builder induction!

God bless new M commie time!! I said my nice piece, we're moving on quick

Good now I can hate you again.

For all the “I don’t really care when this happens” I did about this, it’s still really exciting to read this and know that you can make it big by really just talking a lot.

Hopefully this is enough to finally lose the “new” label for some people, myself included.

Congrats to the both of you! A special congrats to @Gustav who was my introductory GM into the league 5 years ago. Because of his efforts I’ve been a part of this league for half a decade now and have no plans of leaving it anytime soon. 🍻

Congratulations to both of you for the illustrious honor that has been bestowed upon you. May the glory of these inductions stay with you for eternity as you grow old and take time to reminisce on the incredible journey of your time here in the VHL.

Congrats to both inductions into the HOF. And Gustav finally does not need to worry anymore whether he needs to mention himself as a 'Hall of Very Good' as a builder.

Sweet now I can go inactive

I’ve long said the idea that we should wait for people to leave so their builder portfolio will be “complete” is dumb because they’ll never get to enjoy the honour; so don’t you fucking dare.
