New York Americans looking for fifth straight Victory Cup

Recommended Posts

Winners of the last four Victory Cups, the New York Americans are currently tied for first in the VHL with the Quebec City Meute. The Americans have won eight games in a row, a streak that started with back to back victories over the Meute. Including those two losses, Quebec has won just four of its past eight games, allowing New York to catch them in the standings. New York is winning the season series against Quebec with three wins in the five games played between the teams thus far. The final three games between the teams could have a big impact on who wins this extremely close race. Down seven points to these two teams, with a game in hand, are the Helsinki Titans. With about a third of the season left, the Titans definitely have a shot at the Victory Cup.

Meanwhile, in more important news, the Stockholm Vikings are still in a playoff position. They sit two points behind Europe's second-place Express, and 11 points ahead of the Dynamo, the team that is looking to unseat them from third place. The Vikings are a young team with a very bright future. While any waves that they might make in the playoffs this season would be a pleasant surprise, they will be a team to watch for seasons to come.
