Toronto Legion Jersey Retirement

I'm not even sure how long it is has been since a member of the Legion has had their jersey retired by the team. The last recipient was Aidan Shaw, who last played for the team in S25, so I imagine not long after that. That means we're probably bordering on 20 seasons since a number has gone into the rafters. The Legion have also been one of the stingiest franchises, with only four total numbers retired (1, 14, 26, 32). A jersey retirement carries a lot of weight and is reserved for the best of the best. The last retirement was for one of the best goalies to ever grace the VHL and this one will be much the same. Due to GM turnover and ineptitude, this (in an official capacity) is outrageously overdue. It is with great honor that I get to announce the first jersey retirement under my tenure (although hopefully not the last) as the Toronto Legion GM. We're sorry it took so long, but Remy LeBeau's #39 is (finally, actually) going up in the rafters!

----------

Remy LeBeau joined the Toronto Legion in Season 31 and he would never leave the franchise, spending all eight of his seasons in net for the Legion. Remy joined a rebuilding Legion team, and earned full playing time from the moment he arrived. He developed with the team early in his career, growing each season until he was one of the best goalies in the league, consistently, for the entire back half of his career. Remy's breakout season came in Season 34, when he posted his first sub-2.00 GAA and a save percentage over .930%. LeBeau won his first Aidan Shaw Trophy that season and never looked back. He had similar seasons for the rest of his career, winning a second Shaw Trophy in Season 36, the season that also started a three year run of Toronto winning the Devon-Marlow Marta Trophy. In Season 37 Remy won the Daisuke Kanou trophy as the Legion won their only Continental Cup with LeBeau on the team.

LeBeau was the heart and soul of the dominant Legion team's in the late 30s, being the one staple that you could always count on to keep Toronto in contention. LeBeau gave Toronto a chance to win every single night. LeBeau left Toronto with a void at goalie that frankly still hasn't been filled. Toronto wants to say thank you, thank you for the eight seasons you gave to the Legion and the Season 37 Continental Cup. Thanks for all of the great memories. We honor LeBeau now by hanging his number from the rafters, cementing his legacy for all-time.

Well I've found that it was somewhat mentioned in passing. But I felt it needed to be more official. With the actual graphic (it wasn't in the team area).

Touche! It's all about righting the wrongs from past GM's. Good on you!

I must say I'm honored by this, as mentioned Edgar did the same in a one liner, which never felt official. So to have my name up in the team section is something I really appreciate. Thanks Molholt for doing this and thanks everyone who made my stay with the Legion a great one.
