A quick search seems to say that some parts of the US teach it while others don't. Seems to be Eastern Seaboard regions, so you might be close enough to have been lumped in with that. I was actually on Destiny a while ago, and we had a young kid (11-12) in a raid. I told them they had to go counter-clockwise, and they didn't know what that was. My high school only had digital clocks and it's been 18 years since I was in elementary, so I couldn't tell you lol. My house doesn't have a face clock in it either, actually.
