Season 47 was quite the year for the Bratislava Watchmen. With a hot start at the beginning of the season, the team fell into a significant slump which lasted roughly a quarter of the season. Knowing that change was inevitable if the Watchmen wished to chase a championship and that his players were becoming unsettled with all the recent losing, Bratislava GM Blake Campbell went to the phones to started making the calls. One by one, all within a short span, trades were made between the Watchmen and the opposing teams. As each trade came in, the team continued to get stronger. Their defense became arguably the best defense in the league and their organizational depth all around was easily above average. With a stronger defensive core, Zhumbayev played stronger and the wins started to roll in.

By the time playoffs came, the Watchmen had clinched first place in the conference and we're confident heading into the playoffs. With the bye, they awaited their opponents in the second round. Next, game the finals where they barely hung on to the finals after coming out fast with a large series lead. Eventually, the Watchmen hoisted their first cup in some time, GM Campbell won his first cup and second Jack Reilly award for GM of the year. The season was successful and the Watchmen will be remembered for their midseason to late season heroics in such an amazing turnaround.

Now, the Watchmen are competing in Season 48 at a chance for a repeat. The team has been excellent this season even if they did lose some big names. The team is currently sitting in first place in the league and it's a lot of thanks to their still good depth and chemistry. Along with that, 2nd season veteran Podarok is leading the team in points and is having quite the season for himself. He's a huge reason why the team is succeeding right now. Along with that, the Watchmen had most of their season so far without a starting goalie and rather with a very inexperienced, low talent guy blocking shots between the pipes. Even with such a week goalie, the team managed to be in first place and rock a 12 game winning streak. Since, the Watchmen paid a hefty price for waiver goalie Sven Wolf - who is already progressing quickly and is now just shy of 100 TPE. When asked regarding the trade, this is what GM Campbell had to say:

"No goalies were available on the market. They were all apart of competing teams. You need a goalie to win. They can win you games. This season, we've done so well without a goalie, we figured we'd be that much stronger with one. He's no Dandonov right now, but he's progressed extremely quickly and will shortly be above 100 TPE. We believe he;s gonna be a huge asset to our team and will hopefully help our chances at a repeat"

GM Campbell has played his cards right for the last couple seasons. During his first season as GM, he went all in while pursuing his first ever Founders Cup. While making it to the finals, he lost out and spent the next 2 seasons rebuilding. With a cup win and now a great chance at repeating, we asked Campbell what his thoughts were on this season and the future for Bratislava.

"We've done an extremely great job this season on executing in those big games. It's the regular season, but it's always good to claim first for that first round bye. I'm proud and impressed with how the team is playing and only wish to continue to motivate that at a chance of repeating. It's all about the cup. I get a juniors GM is to keep people active and get them ready for the big leagues, but it's about a lot of things and winning a cup makes it a good experience. We truly wish to repeat because this could be the last year we're able to do so. The offseason we could pull somethings off, but we're losing more players once this season finishes and will make it really difficult on us. I'd say a season or two rebuild is coming but if we can, we'll do our best to avoid it."

I hear this feller named Sven Wolf couldn't save anything even if he had magical power to bring someone back to life.

Is that why in 8 games played, he's already won half of your teams total wins through 42 games? :)

I play center, not goalie :P

I'm aware of that.

I was stating Wolf is 6-1-1 through 8 games, having half the amount of wins through 8 as the Bern Royals do as a team through 42 (12). ;)

IDFK who our goalie is. I think it's someone inactive tbh. We all know activity trumps so therefore that's why you are doing so well.
